The inconsistent, heavy, complicated and intransparent procedures are the reasons traders try to circumvent the Nigeria Customs with bribery. The government should reconsider this newest but disturbing policy.

The new rate will not only cause an increase in the price of goods, it will:

1. Make Nigerians go 'thinner' and 'slimmer'
2. It will shortchange the government, although a slight return may be realized.
3. Gallant Officers will grow bigger belies.
