*I'm the authentic APC Candidate, Dennis Idahosa lay claims on mandate as Party Produces two Candidates*

_Says the law does not make provision for multiple/substitute primary elections without withdrawal or death of the winner of the primary election_

*Mega House Tv*

One of the Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the Edo September 21 Gubernatorial election, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, who was declared winner by the Party's Election Committee Chairman, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma (Charman), on 17th February, 2024, has said he remain the Party's flagbearer, adding that there is no moral justification in the sight of the law, for the Party to conduct two Primary election, when there is no withdrawal or death of the winner as exemplified in the governing Constitution.

Idahosa in his recent interview granted on 22nd February, 2024 said, "I write in respect of the Edo State Gubernatorial Primary Election, particularly my victory at the primary election held on 17th February, 2024 which was duly acknowledged by the National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) as per his congratulatory message widely reported to have been issued on 18h February, 2024"

"In preparation for the election to the office of Governor of Edo State, the APC commenced the statutory nomination process by, amongst others, scheduling its primary election for 17 February, 2024,, notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and empaneling a Gubernatorial Election Primary Committee under the auspices of the National Working Committee of the APC pursuant to Article 13.4 (xiv) of the APC Constitution"

On the legality of who is the authentic Candidate, Idahosa said "The law does not make provision for multiple/substitute primary elections as communicated by the Press Release in the absence of the withdrawal or death of the winner of the primary election, neither does the law permit or anticipate any circumstance where the name of any person aside the winner of the primary election is submitted to INEC as the party’s candidate. Our party ought to be guided on the path of legality and avoid actions that can cause avoidable negative legal consequences for the party"

On why the election cannot be regarded as inconclusive, the Federal Lawmaker said, "On 22nd February, 2024, even though there was no outstanding process from the primary election of 17h February, 2024 to be concluded, the Primary Election Committee, with the same members who had signed the earlier report except for H. E. Hope Uzodinma, were in Benin City. However, instead of indicating which part of the earlier primary election the Committee was to conclude, in the course of the day, it proceeded to conduct another primary election purportedly across all the Wards in Edo State. Surprisingly, it announced results that did not tally with the votes from the Wards obtained at any validly or duly conducted primary election and/or Local Government Area"

PoliticsEdo State Commissioner For Roads And Bridges Uzamere Addresses Press On Governor by Propergandist(op): 1:46pm On Feb 19, 2024
Edo State Commissioner for Roads and Bridges Uzamere Addresses Press on Governor Obaseki's Infrastructure Achievements

The Commissioner for Roads and Bridges in Edo State, Hon. Ethan Uzamere has held a press briefing in Benin City to shed light on the efforts by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to reposition Edo in terms of road and energy infrastructure.

In his address to the newsmen, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of an honest assessment of the country's economic landscape. Reflecting on the challenges faced, he highlighted the need for innovative approaches in managing infrastructural projects.

He said: "There was a narrative which was false that the State is not doing any federal road which is very false because you’re aware we are doing the Benin-Abraka road, we are doing a lot of roads in the Edo central area. Also, since I took over this office one thing I’ve done is to see how we can think differently in this space."

"We had a big push last year on the state of the federal roads like the Benin-Auchi roads which has been ongoing for more than ten years and some of those contractors have been paid even more than their certificates. How is the audit? Who is auditing them and How do we bring back those money that has been paid? And look at the state of it."

Uzamere also noted substantial increases in the costs of essential materials like bitumen, diesel, and cement over recent months. According to him, these price hikes have significantly escalated the expenses associated with road construction, posing challenges for contractors and project timelines.

"When I assumed this Ministry, I think about last year, we were doing a kilometer of road between 400 and 600 million naira but now as of last year December it went up to about a billion depending on the terrain which is one of the cheapest around the country. We are dealing with contractors and they are business men running their own businesses. That’s why we have decided to partner with private entities and Federal government for us to prioritize some of these roads that are classified as federal roads."

"The first one I will be doing during my tenure as commissioner will be the Benin-Asaba road which is a very important transaction. We should look at how we can save money In the future in terms of road construction because it’s an investment which the state is going to get back dividends and it’s privately ran so the bureaucracy would not be that much compared to if it’s government, " Uzamere said.

The Commissioner recalled struggles faced by the State in establishing private power generation initiatives, such as the Ossiomo Power project.

According to him, "Yesterday, the Minister of Power came out and said we can no longer afford subsidy for electricity. During the beginning of this administration of His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki, what the economic team then decided to do, we decided that we need to think differently on how to manage an economy, how to manage a State."

"And I can remember when we were promoting the private power generating company called Ossiomo Power. I don’t know if anyone remembers, the issue with the Federal Government, the issue with the BEDC, not wanting to give us licenses and it was a battle for years just for us to even get licenses and these are the issues that we kept talking about."

"They can’t afford even all these subsidies and all the feedstock for even generating power is still ran and controlled by the Federal Government which most importantly is gas. And it was a battle and we thank God that we won that battle," Uzamere said.

Guinness World Record: Obaseki supports Riemen Asein’s ‘marathon reading’ attempt with N10m.

…celebrates Greg Ogbeifun, hails contributions to societal devt.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has thrown his weight behind Miss Angel Riemen Asein, an indigene of Owan West Local Government Area of the State, as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud by an individual.

Governor Obaseki made a N10million presentation to her foundation when she was presented to the Governor at the commissioning of the Cee-Jackson Apartment and the 73rd birthday celebration of the Chairman of Benin Port Project, Mr. Greg Ogbeifun, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

According to the 500 level undergraduate of Fishery and Aquatic Biology at the Lagos State University, her decision to embark on the world record attempt was to give support to ongoing efforts to eradicate prostitution and cultism in the State.

The read aloud marathon which is expected to last for 200 hours, would run for nine days, and is scheduled to take place at the State Library Complex, Secretariat Building, along Sapele Road, Benin City from February 23 to March 3, 2024.

Commending her efforts, Governor Obaseki noted, "We are here to identify with what Greg Obgeifun loves and we have decided to support this young girl, Angel Asein who represents what we are in Edo. Education is a tool needed to compete across the globe and to succeed in the future and we are making sure we provide such a platform for our people.”

He added, “I am passionate about this young girl who is trying to place Edo State in the Guinness Book of World Records by identifying with our own issues, telling the world our own stories, cleaning the distorted records, as she is trying to tell our own story to the world. I am giving you a present which is a donation to this young girl's foundation. I am donating the sum of N10 million.”

Congratulating the celebrant, Mr. Greg Ogbeifun, the governor prayed that God grants him long life in good health, noting, "We are celebrating him today because of what he represents to all of us. We have seen different aspects of him, his role as a father and brother in this family; his role as a community leader in this Community; his role with his Alma Mater; his role in his profession, and his activities in supporting different courses especially those that concern young people across the Country.

“I am proud of him as someone who, over the last seven years, has identified with us on the mission we are set out to achieve. That is, to take our legacy and inheritance, and reposition what we have inherited from our forebears and place us in a position to compete in today's world, now and in the future."

Obaseki added, “In the last seven years, we have tried to move Edo State from an ancient great city to a modern dynamic city. We are here to dedicate this property. We thank you for the work you have done for the State, especially the efforts put into the Benin Port Project.”

On his part, the celebrant who thanked God for good health, commended the governor and other guests for coming to felicitate with him.

Edo PDP holds National Delegates Election in 17 LGAs as C’ttee Chair commends conduct of poll.

...says election very peaceful, credible.

...winners emerge in Egor, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, others.

The Deputy Governor of Delta State and Chairman of the Edo State National Delegate Electoral Committee, Sir Monday Onyeme, has commended the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National delegates election which held across the State's 17 local councils, noting that the process was very peaceful, transparent and credible.

The Chairman and other members of the electoral Committee went round some venues of the election, including Eghosa Anglican Grammar School in Egor Local Government Area and Urokpota Hall in Oredo Local Government Area to monitor the process and interact with the delegates, INEC officials and electoral officers, among other stakeholders.

Onyeme who briefed journalists after the monitoring at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat along Airport Road, Benin City, said he was impressed and satisfied with the conduct of the exercise which he described as very credible, free and fair.

He said, “We have been here since yesterday for the election. We have gone round to observe the proceeding to see for ourselves how our National officers that we sent here to conduct the exercise are doing.

“We visited some areas and observed that the election was very peaceful and candidates were duly elected and in some centers in some of the local government areas, some candidates voluntarily stepped down for other candidates.

“Everything went on well and the election was peaceful as everyone were in agreement given the process credibility. This is one of the freest and fairest election that I have witnessed and I commend the people of Edo State, especially members of the PDP for conducting a very credible election to elect National delegates.”

The Committee chair further noted, “The results will start coming in any moment from now and as soon as we receive it, we will collate and also brief you accordingly.

“I thank everybody for being part of the process. I also appreciate the press for a good job as they are the medium through which others know what is happening.

“We thank God for a peaceful election and the result at this center (Eghosa Anglican Grammar School) has been accepted by all as the process was carried out in line with the guidelines.”

At Eghosa Anglican Grammar School in Egor, Chief Odion Olaye won the National delegate election with 30 votes, defeating other candidates while in Ikpoba-Okha, Solomon Idehen won with 28 votes beating other candidates.

PoliticsStop Crying Foul Where There's None’ - Edo Pdp To Interlopers by Propergandist(op): 3:28pm On Feb 09, 2024
‘STOP CRYING FOUL WHERE THERE'S NONE’ - EDO PDP TO INTERLOPERS.

It is quite preposterous that some political actors and interlopers in the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have chosen  to undermine the party for their personal and selfish interests with the shameful smear campaigns to discredit the just concluded adhoc ward delegate election which was successfully held across the State.

First, it is important to state that the duty and powers of organizing a delegate election lie in the hands of the National Working Committee of the PDP, and in its wisdom, the NWC set up a 5-man Ad-hoc Ward Delegate Electoral Committee led by Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, in line with the PDP Constitution and the Committee successful organised what is today recognized as one of the best congresses ever organised in the recent history of the State.

It is unheard of for a player in a match to want to become part of the officiating team. The guidelines for the ward delegate congress were made available by the NWC to aspiring delegates, while party members were also available to be lobbied to vote for and support whichever delegate they preferred.

Also, governorship aspirants do not determine who becomes a delegate but party members and PDP members across the State came out in their numbers at the weekend to elect their preferred delegates ahead of the National Delegates Election. Hence, the allegations that two persons wrote the Congress results are totally false, divisive and misleading. Some of the results are attached to this write-up.

Now that the Congress has successfully held, the NWC has also set up an Appeal Committee which is still currently sitting in Abuja. It is also important to state here that 99.9% of the delegates who contested did not file an appeal. One would wonder who then is more interested in the procedure and process than the contestants.

Let me also quickly mention that the National Delegate Election is coming up on Saturday, February, 10, 2024, at the local government collation centre. All elected adhoc delegates from the ward are expected to come out to elect the national delegate for each local government. That is where we all should be focused .

However, all the governorship aspirants will know the names of the delegates as soon as they are published thereafter, they can lobby these delegates to vote for them at the governorship primaries which is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2024.

Signed
