SirShymex: Well, in my own neck of the woods - "bigotry" has to do with discrimination and intolerance, not objective critique. And isn't it shocking that the female poster can see where I'm coming from(check her last post), however, you're too insecure to see the truth.

Also, I alluded to Arabic because I believe most Northerners are well-versed in the language, and since you've problems discerning my posts - it's only right that I suggest something that will make it simpler for you.

Next time, when hunting for those who have contempt for Northerners on these sides, I'll advise you to check their post history. I probably support the North more than most posters, and I do call people out from time to time, when they post offensive comments about your folks. Stop throwing hissy-fits everywhere, and learn to appreciate critique.
Oh I understood you clearly no doubt, excessively so for your cognition because I read in-between the lines and picked up on your misplaced arrogance which is the basis of my defensive posture. A true critique is constructive and objective.
PoliticsRe: The Lions Den Of Arewa by prophetone(op): 12:53pm On Aug 04, 2014
SirShymex: So, in your neck of the woods, "bigotry" means pointing out the obvious, no? Or should I translate my post to Arabic, so you can discern my critique? Also, you asserted that thread is about "Industry and Industrialists" - however I saw a couple of academics there. And the use of "den" in the header is self-explanatory.

Anyway, create a thread for Northern academics - I'm highly interested in that.

No beef here, I just speak the truth.
Nope, bigotry is what is in bold. You can't help yourself can you? Besides i don't know arabic so I wonder what you're on about undecided
PoliticsRe: The Lions Den Of Arewa by prophetone(op): 12:21pm On Aug 04, 2014
SirShymex: Lmao...not hating. There's nothing on the thread to even hate on.

Honestly, I was hoping to see a lot of things because you can't ready get that much information about Northerners on the web, since most of you don't really travel to the west. And apart from the car designer guy, Jelani, and a next nuclear physicist that's a visiting professor in one of the top unis in America - I don't really Northerners anywhere on the web.

I came on the thread to see if I could see a few achievers I can do a background on, and follow their career. However, I'm utterly disappointed. That's the truth.

Anyway, have fun. wink
In case you've not noticed, this thread celebrates Northern Industry and Industrialists...not achievers in general (It just shows you're not very observant). If you want a thread on the Northern Academia...be patient. By the way, I'm a northerner, and I'm in the west, not very far from you. Get help mate and quit stalking northerners on the web, your bigotry stinks.
PoliticsRe: The Lions Den Of Arewa by prophetone(op): 12:15pm On Aug 04, 2014
SirShymex: [s]This is an hysterical lion's den.

When your population is in tens of millions, and there are only a handful of achievements, then you should be worried.

Apart from the few rich folks, those who achieved excellence via academics are mediocre. Heck, I saw a guy doing postgrad programme at middlesex uni on the list - shameful.

It seems other Nigerians have infected the Northerners with the art of celebrating mediocrity, this is so unlike them.

You lot need to rally around one another, and develop your region. Your folks are way behind others, despite the fact that "others" are also mediocre achievers - mostly book readers, and not critical thinkers.

Sad thread![/s] undecided
anonimi: [s]Since you seem to have missed my very first post on this thread, let me re-post it and hope you will fully understand its message this time around:
[/s]
thriz: [s]So why is the north using marginalization as a reason for terrorism. Dan banza , duri uwar ka. The truth is that the highlighted wealth circulates among a privileged few, while in the south wealth is more evenly distributed. Ask yourself, with the likes of Dangote ( Africa's richest man) poverty on the northern streets is alarming. So keep deceiving yourself with those pictures, the reality is the reality[/s]
9jacrip: The Northerners are gradually making statements after statements, this is one. I can predict that some folks from a section of the country would begin to feel very un-comfy with how Northerners are beginning to drop their passive toga on NL. In a nutshell, expect this thread to hurt some emotional creatures who will soon begin throwing tirades to provea point (where there's none) of being better off.

Kaduna Tomato Factory

The company, which was established about 33 years ago in Ikara, Ikara Local Government Area, has a capacity to process16,950 tons of tomato, 5,760 tons of mangos, 5,120 tons of oranges and 780 tons of pineapple annually.
Daily Trust gathered that the company which also has 700 hectares of land for tomato farming, was abandoned due to poor funding and mismanagement.

Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, who reopened the company, said it will soon commence production, adding that it was leased to an Indian firm, Messrs Springfield Agro Limited under Public Private Partnership.
Yero said: “Talks have reached advanced stages with potential partners towards reopening the state owned Makarfi Sugar Company, the Kachia Ginger Processing Company, the Zaria Pharmaceutical Company and Kafanchan Flour Mills. Our administration remains focused in achieving the objective of boosting investment by encouraging private sector participation in the economic growth and development of the state. As you may be aware, the state government is fashioning out a policy framework on investment, commerce and industry tailored towards providing the much needed enabling environment for private investors to do business with ease”.

anonimi: My dear, the objective measure will be what RATIO of Americans are destitutes compared to those who are not.
What is the same ratio in northern Nigeria huh

Of course ther are some northerners who are also in the education sector but what is there ratio to the population of the North? And how has that affected the COMPARATIVELY low cut-off mark for northerners in national exams as posted earlier huh
As I said there are always INDIVIDUAL stars in each society, what is more important is to have MANY stars in the society such that the whole community/group/society/nation is BRIGHTENED by the CRITICAL MASS of these shiny elements.
Can you please show the CRITICAL MASS grin of shiny elements in your area? Is the poverty rate where you're from not 61%? Critical mass indeed.

Only a silly thinking person would believe that any Unity School would admit a student that scored 2 huh in the common entrance exams.

Quit derailing the thread.
PoliticsRe: The Lions Den Of Arewa by prophetone(op): 11:05am On Aug 04, 2014
anonimi: Firstly, this thread clearly points out that there are few mega rich northerners who are also smart & intelligent. There is no doubt about that. The reql question is why are there not so many of such people whose talents/intelligence is being harnessed through MASSIVELY provided education by their states and LGAs who are responsible for primary, VOCATIONAL, secondary and TECHNICAL schools.
The few INDIVIDUAL billionaires that are being highlighted on this thread, should also complement the state & LGA governments' efforts by donations to the education sector including scholarships.
That is what feeds into the cut off mark for national exams so they can have a quota in federal matters.
Do you need another thread naming INDIVIDUAL educated northerners that are manning the various Schools, Hospitals, Universities(Public and Private), Industries, Research Institutes, Farms and Offices (Govt. And Private) etc. in the entire 19 states of the North?

The idea that the north is populated by nothing but illiterate almajiri's with nothing better to do than catwalk with bombs is pure propaganda and to be honest, we can't be bothered. Remember in America, just like anywhere in the world, there are destitutes. Don't let the actions of a disgruntled minority in the north becloud your objectivity.

It is funded by the Civil Aviation Department in the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Aviation. Formerly known as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Training Centre, the school was established in 1964. It has a fleet of about 25 training aircraft. As of 2010, about 6,500 students had graduated from the college, which offers course in flying, aircraft maintenance, air traffic control and aeronautical telecommunications.[1] Chief Dayo Abatan was appointed Chairman of the college in February 2009.[2] In 2010, the college was seeking to become a Degree awarding institution through affiliation with a foreign University.

8. Usman Dantata | Anadariya

The young and enterprising Usman Dantata Jr., who is married to Rukaiya Indimi, daughter of multi-billionaire Borno businessman Mohammed Indimi, is the president/CEO of Anadariya Farms. The large poultry farm, which is located in Tiga, Bebeji local government area of Kano State, was started by the late business sage of Kano, Alhaji Usman Sanusi Dantata of the Dantata dynasty, in the 1960s. Anadariya Farms thrived well in poultry produce. For instance, it was noted for exporting poultry birds and eggs to Saudi Arabia twice a week using a Boeing 747 plane.

The CEO came with refined vigour, to ensure the farm maintains a successful track record. He has a background in investment and banking and was a trader of various commodities in Europe before coming back to Nigeria. He also has a certificate in feed production and broiler management obtained in North Carolina. Suffice it to say that he had equipped himself with the necessary training before stepping into the business.

This wealth of experience and pool of relevant knowledge may have been the reason for his decision to expand the services and operations of the farm to include a hatchery, production of broilers and layers, the production of feeds and the processing and sale of poultry products. Anadariya Farms produces above 3, 000 broilers weekly. This is one of Nigeria’s most viable farms, with its growing, diverse agricultural activities.

Ado Bayero Mall, Kano

THOSE that doubted the take-off of the multi-billion naira project, christened as Ado Bayero Mall, have now been proven otherwise as its first group of tenants led by Shoprite, the South African retail chain last week commenced business operations within the expansive and exotic mall.

https://i.imgur.com/P3k66.jpg

The takeoff of the mall, according to investors, will no doubt lend credence to rebirthing Kano’s historic reputation as a trading and commercial centre in Northern Nigeria. It will also serve as a major link for commerce on the Trans-Saharan trade route.

https://i.imgur.com/fZuCVO8.jpg

Messrs. Alpine Investment Services Limited, which is promoting the mall, said “the mall will be the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria and as such is poised to trigger a host of innovative developments in urban planning in and around the sub-region. With its state of the art design and construction, Ado Bayero Mall aims to change the face of commerce in Kano and pay homage to the city’s historic position as one of the most important commercial hubs in Africa.”

Situated in a neighborhood defined by a well balanced mix of commercial and residential properties, the mall is located near major access roads such as the Zaria –Maiduguri Highways, and is also adjacent to major landmarks such as Kano Trade Fair Complex and the historic Kano Zoo on Zoo road. This high-profile location guarantees easy access and visibility for all tenants and shoppers.

CCNN Sokoto

Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc (CCNN), was founded by the Premier of the then Northern Region, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto. It was incorporated in 1962 and commenced production in 1967 with an initial installed capacity of 100,000 tons per annum at the Kalambaina plant. The need to meet the increasing demand for cement necessitated an expansion of the plant with the commissioning of a second line with an installed capacity of 500,000 tons per annum in 1985, by the then Head of State, Major General Muhammadu Buhari. Thereafter, in 1986, the first line was shut down due to its uneconomic mode of operation, thus leaving the plant with a rated output of 500,000 tons per annum.

https://www.mantracpowersystems.com/images/projects/sol11.jpg

Under the privatization and commercialization programme of the Babangida Administration in 1992, the Federal Government disinvested about 20% of its holding in the company and sold it to the Nigerian Public.

Under the civilian administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc was earmarked as one of the companies to be fully privatized. In 2000 therefore, public bidding for the Company was concluded and Scancem International ANS of Norway, a member of Heidelberg Cement Group was appointed as core investor and technical partner of the Company. Following a strategic re-orientation, Heidelberg Cement Group divested its CCNN shares in 2008. The Nigerian company Damnaz Cement Company Limited became CCNN’s new core investor.

In 2010, BUA International Limited acquired Damnaz Cement Company Limited and became indirectly the majority shareholder in CCNN and its technical partner.

In April, he announced $9 billion in financing from a consortium of local and international lenders to construct a private oil refinery, fertilizer and petrochemical complex in the country. His publicly traded Dangote Cement is also grabbing new markets in Africa, with $750 million in new plants planned for Kenya and Niger. He made his first fortune more than three decades ago when he started trading commodities with a loan from his powerful uncle.

Interesting Fact: Aliko Dangote just injected $1 billion into the Agriculture sector.
