What sort of complete cluelessness is this? Common sense dictates that you do not throw away the baby with the bathwater. At this critical time in the health sector, some genius decides to wield the big stick on resident doctors. Forget about trying to discipline them and engage in capacity development instead, while pursuing a prevention programme to halt the spread of Ebola, in every nook and cranny of the country.

Politics / Re: Northern Nigeria & The Ebola Virus by prophetone(m): 8:57am On Aug 14, 2014
The south can deal with it's scourge. The governors and NEMA in the states should have prepared quarantine facilities to take care of any eventualities. For now, the south should deal with the disease and not spread it as I learnt it has already been spread to Enugu from Lagos.

The majority of northerners are Muslims and have to wash their hands, feet, elbows and face 5 times daily before prayer so it's not shocking there's no case of Ebola in the north yet and the spread will be preventable.

All luxury buses from the East should be checked for vectors henceforth before entering the north to prevent spread and buses carrying suspected victims should be turned back.

Prevention is better than cure or quarantine.

When these cross-generational cowards signed up to join the Police Force, did they not know putting their lives on the line was part of the job description? These are the same people threatening fire and brimstone if BH comes to the east, was their plan to strip their uniforms and tie a rag on their head and join the terrorists in shouting Allahu Akbar since they cannot beat them? If these are the type of men that would be in Biafra Police force if there's a dissolution then...

By the way I thought I read elsewhere that the DPO collapsed upon hearing the news, why this filtered version? Shameful cowards.

This should be condemned as it will negatively affect the morale of other officers in the force, especially the ones serving in troubled areas. These officers should be punished as a deterrent to others.

Politics / Re: Politics Of Meat Production: Where Do The Nigerian Goats, Sheep And Cattle Go? by prophetone(m): 4:13pm On Aug 13, 2014
ZnO:

Ok, so they process meat but do not export it. That's my point. Tnx.

Well that's because there's a huge local market here in Nigeria, the point is they have the capacity to export meat. If the country is disintegrated and the north still exports to the south in the same quantity, that will count as export abi?
Politics / Re: Politics Of Meat Production: Where Do The Nigerian Goats, Sheep And Cattle Go? by prophetone(m): 3:48pm On Aug 13, 2014
ZnO:

Well Cameroon does not need your meat. It is obvious because if they do, they already would have been importing it now instead of from far away Botswana

For now, you do not have a history of exporting livestock, let alone processed meat. If it happens in future, do you not think the South can also start producing its own livestock in the future? There are modern ways of intensive animal husbandry as opposed to the pastoralism going on in Northern Nigeria.

1. First of all, I just noticed this is a competition between north and south which i think is childish and not my intention. What i was discussing is more of self-sustenance in the event of dismemberment as opposed to one-upmanship. Nobody said both regions cannot be mutually prosperous nations and our division will simply be the manifestation of the desires of the people.

2. That been said, the north has the sheer livestock production capacity needed for export (like it currently does to the south) and there are modern abbatoirs dotting most cities in the north which are quite capable of processing meat or can be upgraded and expanded for the purpose. Private investors, such as the Nagari Group are already exploiting that sector in the north. Modern animal husbandry as you posited has been practiced in the north for over 30 years. The pastoralism that you attribute to the entire region is simply a cultural practice of the Fulani tribe in the region, just like the igbo man believes in migration for prosperity, and not the sole method of animal husbandry.

Politics / Re: Politics Of Meat Production: Where Do The Nigerian Goats, Sheep And Cattle Go? by prophetone(m): 2:03pm On Aug 13, 2014
ZnO:

FAO data as of 2011, Nigeria and Cameroon have nearly similar levels of livestock production (livestock production index of 122.97 for Nigeria and 120.27 for Cameroon), yet the populations are starkly different.

http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/indicators/AG.PRD.LVSK.XD/rankings

Factoring population, it means that per capita, Cameroon produces more livestock than Nigeria. This explains why they do not import livestock from Nigeria.

What they import from Botswana is likely processed meat and not livestock. I hope you know the difference
Regarding your question on vegetable, it depend on which. The south produces a lot of its own vegetables.

BTW, this thread is about meat and not crops. Thank you.

1. Don't be confused, MEAT is the subject here and not just livestock. I was never referring to unprocessed meat for export. All our livestock intended for mutton/beef/poultry etc. will be slaughtered, processed and packaged for export.

2. The fact that they import meat from Botswana means a market, therefore demand, exists.

And you think the hausa people will agree?

They would already have a muslim President in Fashola, add that to a northerner VP and it's a win-win for them.
Politics / Re: The Only 3 Candidates That Will Give Apc Presidential Mandate by prophetone(m): 1:10pm On Aug 13, 2014
ignis:

I don't think so. Rather I think Fashola is at a disadvantage being a southerner and a muslim. Reason being because he can't fit in as the president or vice president with the type of politics we practise in Nigeria.
Take for example, Fashola as the Flag bearer of APC, who will be his running mate (vice) ? A yoruba, Igbo or Hausa man?
You will agree with me that none of these 3 options is a possibility.
Yoruba = Both can't be yoruba
Igbo= President and vice can't be Southerners .
Hausa = President and Vice can't be muslim.

With the above reason, I doubt if Fashola can fit in as either President or Vice- President.

Interesting, however the Hausa VP does not have to be a muslim even if he is core north, there are many capable hausa christians to fill the void.

Fool!

Why are you getting emotional over the revelation of what an eyesore the SE really is...you think we didn't know how dilapidated your red soiled and erosion ravaged one plot of land is? This is between the SE and every other person that suffered the endless lies and empty chestbeating your ilk shamelessly indulge in, ignoring the societal problems ravaging your region. One would think fighting baby manufacturers, cannibals, kidnappers and keeping your brothers from raping_ your grandmothers will keep you busy enough to leave other regions alone in their strive for upliftment. ZnO: It is very likely that even if Nigeria separates the north will still have to depend on the south for the sale of its livestock produce. No other readier and nearer market.

ZnO:

Cameroon produces lots of livestock as well, so won't be needing any from Nigeria.

Stop speaking of what you know NOTHING of. Cameroon imports beef from far way Botswana so there's no reason they would not patronize cheaper and better quality beef. Our leather is already being bought in Italy.

Now, ZnO tell me where you will get your beef, maize and vegetable from.

AkinEgba:

Does Cameroon need your meat? If so why are they not importing it already?

It's because a ready market south of the Niger already exists. It's all about strategic market positioning. Competitive pricing coupled with other marketing strategies will trigger demand from the Cameroonians which will be overwhelmingly met.

Any educated person would know by now that this thread is not about denying the brown roofs in the SW, but about showcasing the lies the nyamiris on this forum have fed nairalanders with. Posting pictures of the SW is old, stale and boring. What is interesting is the backwardness of eastern cities in the midst of lies.

nedu2000: KWANKWASO is a victim of his tribe, the distrust & hatred for northerners are at an all time low mainly 'cause of boko haram,he'll get very little votes from the south
FASHOLA though we lagosians know better but he can be sold to Nigerians however, his issues with migration and anambra as well as his elitist policies will be waved aside though 'aving another yoruba man so soon after obasanjo won't augur well with tribal bigots who happen to be of a majority in Nigeria.
ROCHAS isn't as popular in the south east as he should be,the north won't stand another southern christian.
Fashola should win it simply 'cause he's a balance between being a southerner and a muslim.

The Anambra issue is too insignificant in the scheme of things to affect Fashola. A lot of people are not even aware of the incident, and people will defend him by reminding others that Imo state did the same thing to some people from the north...another thorn in Rochas's flesh as the northerners didn't take it lightly.

$20b is truly going round, get your share before it leaves your region. Is it the same Afenifere who sold the whole of South West out and murdered AD for a pot of porridge? What have they done to further the interests of Yoruba politics in the current dispensation? Or have we all forgotten so soon the revelation about this Yinka Odumakin, who failed to provide the nation with his resume and career portfolio so that the source of his wealth can be ascertained. These are the same people that called OBJ, their brother that lifted SW politics to an enviable height, a failed leader because he tried to put GJ on the right path. Nothing to see here, just political jobbers seeking contracts and relevance before the elections.

kheart: rochas has massive support base in the north especially in north west.

Yes but the fact is he cannot win if running against any other northerner regardless of party, and his major hurdle is in the SW, not NW.
