Prof. Festus Iyayi, based on my personal experience, is very fatherly, down to earth, magnanimous. Even without prior familiarity with me, he made frantic effort to aid my securing a job in UNIBEN; he spoke with the dean of social sciences on my behalf, and he linked me up the VC's P.A. in the bid to monitor my application letter. Though, the understandable intrigues surrounding job recruitments in UNIBEN haven't made his efforts fruitful, l deeply appreciate and acknowledge his immense concern for my cause. Prof. Festus Iyayi, you are a GREAT MAN and shall be missed by very many people. REST IN PEACE! |
Sorry the offer they made you is now a pipe dream! Obama spent months amd after several court cases by the birthers and realizing the birthers were using it to weaken His person before He decided to release his birth certificate. Oshiomholeh filed a certificate before INEC. The onions is on the accuser to prove His case and not the accused.
Why is anybody who expresses his/her candid informed opinion that is skewed toward PDP seen as a stooge by u guys? Well, you seem not to understand the issue here. This is the summary : ARHIAVBERE WANTS OSHIOMHOLE'S CERTIFICATE INVESTIGATED because HE IS SURE ITS FAKE, BUT OSHIOMHOLE SAID NO! What do u infer from this? Would you stop someone frm investigating ur certificate if u knw its genuine without blemishes? Case closed. |
Its a pity the judgement went this way. Though, Arhiabvere didn't file his petition properly, the fact remains that Oshiomhole doesn't have the genuine certificate. Given his boisterous character he would have long displayed it aleast to shame Arhiabvere if he actually had one. But what did he do? He spent millions, if not billions, of naira in legal fees to have the petition struck out. Whether the petition was properly filed or not; or whether its a pre-election matter or not, a substantive constitutional matter is the issue here. This is miscarriage of justice fueled by emotiöns and political interests. In a slightly similar case, involving Obama, he honourbly displayed hìs birth certificate to put to rest questiöns regarding his birth place. This is a bad judicial precedent for upholding the tenents of our cönstitutiön. We shouldn't let emotiöns to becloud our sense of reasoning and judgement on sancrosant issues. Goodluck Oshiomhole! |

Praying the "die" prayer could be done rightly or wrongly. The right way goes thus: " Any power assigned against my finances die. In the name of Jesus". The "die" in this kind of prayer doesn't literarily mean "death" but "impotence" or "powerlessness". The "power" referred to are the enemies (evil forces) that could operate directly or through human beings. In the Bible, particularly in Luke 10:19, it is written that christians have been given power and authority to trample upon "serpents" and "scorpions" and over rulers of darkness in high places and no harm shall near them. Praying the "die" prayer is scriptural and effective if rightly called and applied. Human beings may not be naturally wicked or evil-minded; but are influenced to be so by enemies(evil forces) that have possessed them. So the "die" prayer is directed at them(evil forces) and not the human instruments. The "die" prayer is meant to stop one's enemies before they stop him/her. Consider this scenario: Mr A being influenced by witchcraft spirit kills Mr B. Later and somehow Mr A repents and he is delivered and forgiven by God. Mainwhile Mr B is long dead and gone languishing hell fire. Who is the loser here? Folks, rightly pray fire and die prayers or you will have yourself to blame. |

So Dame Patience Jonathan has been on the right path? August 3, 2012 | 1:00 am News Former FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, has cleared the air over the genesis of the controversy surrounding the plot of land allocated by the FCT Administration for the building of the continental secretariat of African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) saying that he allocated the plot to AFLPM in 2008. According to Moddibo, who served as Minister of FCT between 2007 and 2008, it was his successor, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, who changed the concept of the land and re- allocated it to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) belonging to former First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’ Adua two years later. The former FCT Minister made the clarifications in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America yesterday. The report was monitored in Abuja. According to Moddibo, there was no controversy about it as the land in question was allocated to AFLPM and a certificate of occupancy (C of 0) prepared for the Mission. @Mankevo, What is democratic in the selection of Akeredolu? Party delegates ought to have chosen their flagbearer in a primary election. This is yet another eloquent expression of the absence of internal democracy in ACN. If a party couldn't practice internal democracy, can it promote in the wider society? |
.......The National Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the party used established zoning formula in the state to pick its candidate out of 35 aspirants. "We used the most democratic system. "In that case, you all agreed that it should go to the north senatorial district area of Ondo State and they all said yes,....... By the time we got to that point, it was only people from Owo and Ose that we have to pick from and we used our judgment to say, of all these people here, the best person to present is Chief Rotimi Akeredolu. Is there anything more democratic than that," he queried? |
WHERE IS THE DEMOCRACY IN THIS PROCEDURE? The leadership of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has defended the choice of Chief Rotimi Akeredolu as the governorship candidate of the party in the October gubernatorial election, explaining that the party used the most democratic system. Speaking with journalists at the sixth annual Ramadan lecture in Oro town in Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State on Wednesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the party used established zoning formula in the state to pick its candidate out of 35 aspirants. "We used the most democratic system. We had about 35 aspirants and they were all called to a meeting and we asked them if there was any zoning system and they all said there was a zoning system. "We also asked them what the zoning system was all about and they said that it started with the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati from Ondo North, to Chief Olusegun Agagu from South, and to the incumbent governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, from Ondo Central and, therefore, the slot should go back to the North. That was the sum total of what we got from what they said during the meeting with them. "In that case, you all agreed that it should go to the north senatorial district area of Ondo State and they all said yes, and all the aspirants from the south and central agreed. At another meeting with the aspirants from Ondo North, we asked how many groups made up the north senatorial district and they said three — Akoko, Owo and Ose. “The last time that governorship came to you, who took it? They said Adefarati from Akoko and therefore, it should go to Owo. By the time we got to that point, it was only people from Owo and Ose that we have to pick from and we used our judgment to say, of all these people here, the best person to present is Chief Rotimi Akeredolu. Is there anything more democratic than that," he queried? SOURCE: www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/44852-ondo-gov-acn-defends-choice-of-akeredolu |
Back in the days the need to inculcate good moral virtues was strong. In Olodi Primary School, Warri, pupils who stole money at home and were caught, were usually brought down to school by either their parents of elder siblings where they would be stripped, ground charcoal applied on their body; chains of empty snail shells or tins hung on their body, and paraded round the various classrooms while dancing to the scolding songs of entertained pupils. The preceding event before the parade was the interesting part which involved the confession time. Na here you go see where the thief dey release the names of those wey follow am flex the money. As he dey call the names na so he dey mention wetin he buy for them. Na there u go see some guys dey hide under desk. And you go dey hear how accomplices dey defend themselves like this: "l nor follow am the chop the money o", "na only one kpokpomadiga(hardened bread) he buy for me o"; "as l wan go tell auntie say he bring big money come school naim he come buy kpokpomadiga and goldpost for me" etc lols. We would contribute money to buy bucket to store drinking water and just three cups for a class of about 50 pupils. *Na only God help us then sha*. You go fear - fear na, when a few of us who were aware of the health issues involve in this arrangement deviced methods of drinking from the cups without our lips coming in contact with the them. Lols. As public school pupils we also had a way of converting normal meaningful English words on our books to acronyms or forming sentences with the letters in the word. For example, there was this book we used then with the brand name :"Olympic Exercise Book", trust Wafi pupils na, with "Olympic" we came up with: "Obi Leave Your Mama Police Is Coming". And with "Exercise Book", we came up with: "Eze *(times) Eze, Rice Customer Is Selling Eba Because Of Old Kettle". Lols, it was really fun then in public primary schools; secondary school experiences were another episodes of fun. |
Life in Olodi Primary School, Okumagba Avenue, Warri was socially and academically enriching up to the early 1990s. There were the influence of two dreaded leaf-less trees, behind the school's main building, that were believed to move to the football field at night to dance and play games. Lols, untill a plumb lgbo guy, selling water+colour+sugar tied ice-cream with a cooler, fell one of them during a labour session and became an instant hero among the pupils. During break (recess) of about 30mins, it was always happily chaotic in the only football field as there would be about four different sets of boys frm various classes simultaneously playing competitive football in a single field. Lols, with 4 balls being pushed around, over 90 players wearing the same school, uniform, and four goalkeepers in either goal posts, its funny how we were able to organize ourself without making mistakes as everybody knew his ball, teammates, opponents, and goal keepers knew the ball to catch lols. Those who would not participate in football would be somewhere cheering two boys "wording" each other (similar to "Yo Mama" on MTV Base). Wording (insulting/jibes game) was a great way to ease tension after undergoing the lessons of wicked "aunties". Only the strong-mouthed and funniest won this game and had fame. Most Nigeria's A-list stand up comedians such as l Go Die, I Go Save, Ali Baba, AY, Akpos, etc were famous "worders" during their primary and secondary school in Warri. To be continued.... |
kolexy: It seems Edo guys have no probs getting married to whores. Mercy Johnson, Tonto Dike, and now Stephanie Okereke. Its unfair for you to have use the word: "LovePeddler" on those actresses especially when you can't practically defend it. Civility is golden. Big-ups to the Edo guys, they seem to recenty have the midas touch when it comes to Nollywood A-list actresses - Omotola, Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson & Stephanie Okereke. Heard Tonto is dating an Edo guy at the moment and l won't be suprised if Genevieve ties the nuptial knot with a guy from Edo State. |
Its a huge pity how people make decisive comments on an issue that hitherto lacks proofs. Gosh! |
