Rednaxelot: You are fortunate to be employed and not wandering in the labor market.
You wanna go back to school for MSc, after then come back to the labor market.
What guarantees you that your MSc is a sure ticket to bring meals to your table?
I advise if you could find a way of shuttling between the two, work and school, and not minding the stress, it’s ok. Resigning from work to purse an advance certificate in Nigeria is not advisable. You are right! |

Blackfinegirl: Experienced Mamas, whenever I turn to the left, baby will move to the left and start kicking me, when I move to the right, baby will move to the right and start kicking. It has been like this for a week. When baby kicks where I am lying on, I turn to the other size to avoid pressing baby.
Hope all is well? I'm experiencing same thing too but mine doesn't kick me. |

Graced2018: Hey Mama,
You have been strong, keep hanging in there. All of it will be well worth it. by Gods grace.
I also got a cerclage installed at 15wks and it lasted only a few minutes - no pain whatsoever, and yes, its the uncertainty of what could happen after it am also dealing with (i wont use the word 'fear'). You are told to rest A LOT, no driving (to avoid any pressure), no standing for too long, no unnecessary stairs climbing, no rough sex (at least no penetrations - this is where you and your partner get creative *wink* etc... basically bedrest, if you can. All these are to keep the stitch around the cervix in place till you are at least around 38 or 39wks+ when it will again be removed via same process in preparation for birth (this time without any medication to numb you).
To put your mind at ease, you can check how things are at every antenatal visit via an abdominal scan - the sonographer will check to see that the stitch is still in place and cervix is still closed.
PS* - I have not had the luxury of all that prescribed 'rest' - I have a super active toddler and a busy work schedule with no help and its been fine so far without any issues by the grace of God only.
God has got us always - stay strong Mama. Peace...
#TeamMARCH2020 I want to know about this cerclage thing, at what length is it necessary, mine was 5-7cm from the last scan and the doctor said my cervix is okay. |

ChavivaBrown: BS! BS! BS!
Hello everyone, thank you all for the congratulatory messages. I'll try to make it as short as possible.
So, my EDDs were 25th, 17th, 14th and 18th but I put to bed on the 12th of November at 39wks+2days by 4:27pm to a beautiful girl who weighed 3.5kg and gave me 2 internal tears and one external tear the nurse had to give to let my big baby easy passage to her new world but in all I thank God, he already planned everything for ease.
So, Tuesday was my antenatal and I didn't want to go, already told my husband that I wouldn't be going because I didn't want to waste the day on just the same visits with nothing different from previous visits because I wasn't having any symptoms of labor and also because the doctor had put me 1 week ahead of my own calculation based on my first ultrasound. This made me think I still have about 2wks to be 40wks.
Tuesday morning, my hubby said I should go and I obeyed. On getting to the hospital at 8am, my contraction started getting regular at 20 minutes apart. It was my turn to see the doctor around 11am and while we were talking about my vitals, I only mentioned that I noticed the regular contractions which was already 8mimutes apart at that time. He said he must do a VE which he did with a nurse and discovered I was 4cm dilated with no pain, no water break, no previous bloody discharge until the VE.
He told me he can't let me go home that I would most likely put to bed around 4/5pm so I should call someone to bring my bag ( I haven't packed it yet although everything had been bought. We just moved to our new place less than 2wks ago plus I just finished my MBA semester exam and that's why I didn't pack early). Anyway, I called my sister and she packed it, called hubby too.
I was placed on oxytocin to hasten everything. I got to 8cm dilation still no pain or any water breakage or anything. The doctor told the nurse to rupture the membrane and then I started feeling labor pain and in about 30 minutes, my baby was out. I was sutured where the nurse cut and it was discovered I had 2 internal cuts cos I was bleeding. All was sutured and I could walk around that same day and was discharged by 10am the next day. Baby, mummy and daddy are all fine. God perfected everything and I give all glory to him.
Cappo Jeniluv, BS submitted. Thank you all very much. #TeamNovember #GloriousGod #ItEndedInPraise Congratulations! |

Gloriousheart: Is UNTH and ESUTH too far from you? Teaching hospital is best for delicate cases but if too far, ask mothers around you for a standard hospital that can monitor and care for you especially cos of your past history. If na Lagos, we will recommend General hospital but it's like those in East hate General hospitals . Maybe you mention your area so Enugu mamas can help more. Above all, hold on to your God.
In the meantime, you can go for scan by yourself in an independent lab. Take the result to your doc or let the lab technician /radiologist interprete for you there and then or bring it to mamas here. By now, heartbeat should be seen etc. Take care. Thanks sis, I appreciate. |

gratefulme40: Lol @her beloved rice. I love rice too but I felt a huge sense of responsibility to do whatever it takes to have a healthy baby.
Oh well, you might not have GDM, may be you ate a bit too much sweets prior to the test. Wait till you do your OGTT You might have to stay off carbs, I am diabetic too and was advised to stay off carbs if I want to keep my baby, eat cucumber it drops sugar level too, I sometimes support mine with insulin, I've had a miscarriage b4 cos of my condition but I won't take any risk this time around. |
