I installed an 18kW solar power system at my property in Lekki Phase 1, relegating EKEDC supply to a backup status. Since then, I have been having more frequent visits from personnel of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), coming to check my prepaid meter.

On one of those visits, the EKEDC team stood watching the meter for motion to indicate consumption. When the meter wasn't moving, they called me to say they suspected I had bypassed the meter. I told them I had enough solar power for my daytime needs and only used their supply as a backup for the dark hours. To prove this to them, I switched on my inverter bypass for about 2 minutes so my consumption would be from EKEDC. They saw the meter rotating normally. They were visibly upset and one of them mumbled something like _"This ọ̀gá no wan gree us chop"_. They left.

Today (19-Oct-2026), three of them came to my premises with a notice of disconnection. The last time I loaded an EKEDC token was in July 2026 and I still had ample units left. When I asked why they would disconnect me, they said the reason was "LOR" (Loss of Revenue). They said my slow consumption indicates a faulty meter and I had to pay them ₦112,606 for loss of revenue.

I told them my meter was not faulty and that they could test it if they wanted. The lady said they were losing revenue and they had to make up for it.

I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry. I have no intention of paying EKEDC a dime for its loss of revenue due to my taking steps to protect my interest.

But, I share this story for all who are investing in solar power to know that the DisCos are now desperate. They now have "Loss of Revenue" as a reason for your disconnection from their supply. It is simply that they are not making enough money from you.

I am waiting for EKEDC to disconnect me from their grid before I lodge a formal complaint to the regulatory authority.

We are in interesting times in Nigeria!

They did the same to my company because we use our solar power.
They came and advised of bypassing. When they checked they saw the security string still intact.

Next was that our meter was faulty. They insisted that they must take it to their office and replace.

They took it and later gave us another new meter.

Do you know what these corrupt people did?
They reconfigured the meter so that 50k token will finish in less than a week.

Those people should be charged for killing that dog.
The dog became in their custody and had excess bleeding and finally died in their custody. They have to explain why the dog died in their custody.

The owner of the dog planned to sell the dog to one Calabar man. So, the owner over fed him do that it will be so big for better money.

You're still not spending good money to repaint your car.
If you spend below ₦500 and ₦700 for repainting, then know it that you'll do it again within a year.

Also stop using detergent are dish washing soap like morning fresh to wash your car. If you use that, you're killing your auto paint.
After rainfall, wash the car. Do not say that rainfall has washed your car else your car paint will become bad. It will lose its shine and have black steaks due to presence of carbon in the rain.

Wax your car. Even if you can't get expensive car wax solution, get yourself hair conditioner and use it to wax your car. Your car paint will always look new.
Use fiber towel on your car during washing and cleaning.
