Don't mind the stewvpid joker. His paymasters are dictating the tune, and he is dancing happily to their evil melody, in his bid to peddle falsehood and earn his pay. If you notice, he never mentioned the cattle rustling aspect, that leads to friction between the herdsmen and the farmers. He is making it seem as if it is the fault of the farmers for getting killed, because they denied the herdsmen a chance to graze and drink from their ponds. He is so inhumane.

There is something I believe, though. There are 3 groups of Fulani herdsmen.

There is one group of simple Fulani herdsmen who take care of the cattle. They move around peacefully with their cattle seeking grass for them to eat. Some are rather selfish, and allow their cattle to graze on farmlands to the detriment of the farmers and their crops.

And there is another group of militant Fulani herdsmen or renegades, who are the cattle rustlers that steal the cattle and kill people. They are armed with sophisticated weapons, vehicles and machinery. It is this second group, that needs to be disbanded and tracked down by the security agencies, to face the music. Someone who is not an experienced Fulani herdsman would not have the courage or skill, to rustle several numbers of cattle at a go. They are being backed by some influential Nigerians, or else where would they get such sophisticated weapons and trained killers, from??

Then the 3rd group are savage, intolerant Fulani herdsmen, employed by the cattle owners to take revenge on the communities, where their cattle were stolen, because they erroneously believe that the indigenes of those communities are responsible for stealing their cows.

The 2nd and 3rd groups are the most deadly of the Fulani herdsmen. The govt authorities and security agencies need to fish them out, and eradicate them!

This article is geared at having us take a wholistic view of the stack realities facing us as a Nation.

Whenever this present APC led administration shifts blames to past government it all sounds like rethorics but truth be told, successive government has failed the nation in their duties of planning ahead especially the PDP in their last 16 years rule.The PDP had failed in tackling dessertification and re calming our lands from the ever encrouching deserts.

Facts today suggest 11 states in the core north are being encrouched upon by desert, Sahara Desert pricisely.

issues of Global warming, climate change and ever depleting ozone layer has left room for contineous and unabated springing of the desert in core Northern Nigeria.

the attendant effects are that Natures resources are bound to get scarce in terms of Water availability and Green vegetaion.

The Lake chad is reported to be drying up and we arent even half way into the dry season yet.

with limited access to Green and water, herdsmen are left with no choice but to seek greener pastures for themselves and their cattles alike and the only way this can be made possible is to have them Migrate Southwards.

Migrating from the North In search for water and greener pastures, The region around the River Benue seems most condusive and 1st point of call for herders.These herdsmen and their cattle aren't migrating south for the fun of it but as a result of life threatning drought and desertification ravaging 11 states in the North.

in this regards, clashes between herdsmen and farmers has been inevitable. This to me suggested the idea that brought about cattle colony which should be at the instance and acceptance of the host communities.

I am not in support of the killings by herdsmen in Benue state but people should begin to see that these herdsmen themselves are staring starvation and hunger in the face for themselves and their cattles. It is either they resist any obstruction or hinderance (farmers) to survive or they get killed by Dessertification.

Had previous government tackled this issue of desertification heads-on, there would have been no need for herdsmen to migrate from the North down south.

Thirdly, we all need agricultural produce from farmers and herders alike, no party should be looked down upon by either party as farmers and herders play a very important role to the economy of the Nation as a whole.I write this with knowledge of effects of desertification In the far north as I was in Katsina state only last week. travelling from Katsina to the border town of Jibia, you could drive unending landmass over 40 kilometers with the attendant effect of desertification visible to the naked eyes.

coming from Katsina navigating through Malumfashi heading towards Funtua at areas around Jikamshi, you would see water channels experiencing drought so badly and you can tell water had not flown through that path in a very long while. These are areas where cattles naturally should have gotten water to drink that are no more and hence a cogent reason for herdsmen to migrate.with all the above, Benue indigenes shouldnt see their land as being taken from them but rather see the herders too as looking for a means of survival.

on the part of the herders, it shouldnt come with violence and forcefulness but what do you expect of a Nomadic herder?on both sides of the divide, if peace must reign. There must be a strategy mapped out for mutual coexistence in peace.

So why do u think it is ur right for DStv to offer u free channels when others don't offer the same thing? DStv access costs just N1,900 and u have access to all the indigenous channels plus Disney junior, trace naija, Africa magic Yoruba, igbo hausa and family, supersports blitz, supersports 10, 4 some documentary channels, telemudo, etc. About 90 channels.

Oh and I've been enjoying supersports 3 and 7 on access for almost 2 months now. I basically watch my favorite club at home for 1,900.

If truly the sambisa forest has been dislodged as a Boko Haram Enclave and the sect has lost grounds and territories then I think there is a possibility of a pocketful of Boko haram members disguising as herdsmen.

Before reclaiming territories from the insurgents, this fulani herdsmen killings had not skyrocketed this high to the roof and hence there is that slim chance some other people commit this crimes and hide under a general blanket of being herdsmen.

Herdsmen I have seen can not handle automatic assault rifles. Herdsmen are not dwellers or settlers. They roam. They dont lay claims to any land. These ones that are killing people are not ordinary herdsmen to me except you want to argue of more sophisticated herdsmen now tending to cattles.

I for one think remnants of boko haram are scattered here and there and since it is almost impossible for them to regroup then atleast this much havoc they can cause.

My arguement is because the aggression from time has always been from the eastern part of the North.. From Borno to Yobe to Adamawa to taraba down to Benue.

Lately, the Adamawa, Taraba and Benue killings have been on the rise since the Army locked down Borno and Yobe.

Now I think more Military intelligence is needed in Adamawa, Taraba and Benue.

Why I say this is because there are cattles in the western side of the North too and no case of fulani herdsmen in Zamfara or Kebbi or Sokoto.

There are cattles in the Central part of the North Kaduna, Kano, Katisna and Jigawa.

So my correlation is this. North central and Northwest are free of herdsmen attack maybe because real herdsmen are not violent and since North east has alway experienced infighting, they would always be plagued with violence of any type in any form under whatever guise, so maybe boko haram remnant trickled downwards north east.

For myself and I dont know about you. I cant eat rice without eating meat. I love suya. Herdsmen are my friend because they give me fura d'e nono. For the love of God Nigerians should leave herdsmen alone.

Just as we need farm produce, we also need milk and meat. We must look for an amicable 2 member equivalent solution and not make herdsmen outcast.

Anti grazing law that seems to be falsely working in Ekiti state might not work in Benue state. People should tread with caution before just enacting laws.

When Governor Ortom was passing the law in Benue state, he didnt take it to president Buhari to vet it. Now the law has backfired he is crying how President Buhari has abandoned him.

Nigerians must have a sense of "General good" and not just parochial mentalities.

It is very likely that Nigerians will be forced to pay higher pump price ( between N180 - N185) at the long run. But am almost sure the Buhari led govt will not want to commit suicide by increasing the price this year prior to election. They know they will be kicked out in 2019 if they dare increase price now.
I foresee the Buhari govt subtly paying subsidies on fuel and waiting after elections to increase the price ( if it even gets reelected). The Nigerian masses will always be used and dumped.

The Intl Market price crash from $145 to $32 per barrel, and pump price was increased from N85 to N145 and Nigerians were asked to pay more despite the global crash.
Now the Intl price has risen to about $63, yet Nigerians are asked to pay more. The reason is that they are having to pay more to import. What happened when they were paying less?
Am sure even if the crude price crashes to $10 we will still pay more.
Whichever way, Nigerians will have be made to suffer.

Today, 80.5% of Indians are Hindus; 13.4% Muslims; 2.3% Christians; 1.9% Sikhs; 0.8% Buddhists, etc.

Hindi is the official language of the government of India, but English is used extensively in business and administration and has the status of a “subsidiary official language.”

It is rare to find an Indian with an English name or dressed On the other hand, Nigeria embraced, to a large extent, the British religion, British culture – names, dressing, foods, and language – but rejected the British technology.

The difference between the Nigerian and the Indian experiences is that while India is proud of its heritage, Nigeria takes little pride in its heritage, a situation that has affected the nationalism of Nigerians and our development as a nation.

Before the advent of Christianity, the Arabs had brought Islam into Nigeria through the North.

Islam also wiped away much of the culture of Northern Nigeria.

Today, the North has only Sharia Courts but no Customary Courts.

So from the North to the South of Nigeria, the Western World and the Eastern World have shaped our lives to be like theirs and we have lost much or all of our identity.

Long after the British and Arabs left Nigeria, Nigeria has waxed strong in religion to the extent that Nigerians now set up religious branches of their homegrown churches in Europe, the Americas, Asia and other African countries.

Just like the Whites brought the gospel to us, Nigerians now take the gospel back to the Whites.

In Islam, we are also very vibrant to the extent that if there is a blasphemous comment against Islam in Denmark or the US, even if there is no violent reaction in Saudi Arabia, the Islamic headquarters of the world, there will be loss of lives and destruction of property in Nigeria.

If the United Arab Emirates, a country with 75% Muslims, is erecting the tallest building in the world and encouraging the world to come and invest in its country by providing a friendly environment, Boko Haram ensures that the economy of the North (and by extension that of Nigeria) is crippled with bombs and bullets unless every Nigerian converts to Boko Haram’s brand of Islam.

In the East we have IPOB.

While in the South - South region, Mend, Avengers and so on destroying the Heart of our Nations Economy.

We are indeed a very religious people.

Meanwhile, while we are building the biggest churches and mosques, the Indians, South Africans, Chinese, Europeans and Americans have taken over our key markets: telecoms, satellite TV, multinationals, banking, oil and gas, automobile, aviation, shopping malls, hospitality, etc.

Ironically, despite our exploits in religion, we are a people with little godliness, a people without scruples.

It is rare to do business with a Nigerian pastor, deacon, knight, elder, brother, sister, imam, mullah, mallam, alhaji or alhaja without the person laying landmines of bribes and deception on your path.

We call it PR, facilitation fee, processing fee, transport money, financial engineering, deal, or whatever.

But if it does not change hands, nothing gets done.

And when it is amassed, we say it is “God’s blessings.”

Some people assume that sleaze is a problem of public functionaries, but the private sector seems to be worse than the public sector these days.

One would have assumed that the more churches and mosques that spring up in every nook and cranny of Nigeria, the higher the morals in our society.

But it is not so.

The situation is that the more religious we get, more ungodly we become.

Our land never knew the type of bloodshed experienced from religious extremists, political desperadoes, ritual killers, armed robbers, kidnappers, internet scammers, university cultists, and lynch mobs.

Life has become so cheap and brutish that everyday seems to be a bonanza.

We import the petroleum that we have in abundance, rice and beans that our land can produce in abundance, and even toothpicks that primary school children can produce with little or no effort.

Yet we drive the best of cars and live in the best of edifices, visit the best places in the world for holidays and use the most expensive electronic and telecoms gadgets.

It is now a sign of poverty for a Nigerian to ride a saloon car. Four-wheel drive is it!

Even government officials, who were known to use only Peugeot cars as official cars as a sign of modesty, have upgraded to Toyota Prado, without any iota of shame, in a country where about 70 per cent live below poverty.

Private jets have become a common toy for many citizens who have no known business.

A nation that imports toothpicks and pins, flaunts wealth and wallows in ostentation at a time its children are trooping to Ghana, South Africa and the UK for university education and its sick people are running to India for treatment.

India produces automobile and exports it to the world. India’s medical care is second to none, with even Americans and Europeans travelling to the country for medical treatment.

India has joined the nuclear powers. India has launched a successful mission to the moon.

Yet bicycles and tricycles are common sights in India. But in Nigeria, only the wretched of the earth ride bicycles.

I have intentionally chosen to compare Nigeria with India rather than China, South Korea, Brazil, Malaysia, or Singapore, because of the similarities between India and Nigeria. But these countries were not as promising as Nigeria at the time of our independence.

Some would say that our undoing is our size: the 2012 United Nations estimate puts Nigeria’s population at 166 million, while India has a population of about a billion.

Some would blame it on the multiplicity of ethnic groups: we have 250 ethnic groups; India has more than 2000 ethnic groups.

Some would hang it on the diversity in religion: we have two major religions – Christianity and Islam; but India has many.

Some would say it is because we are young as an independent nation: we have 56 years of independence; India has 65 years, while apartheid ended in South Africa only in 1994.

We need more godliness than religion; more work and less hope; and more action and less words.

Let everyone tidy up his or her corner first and demand fervently that our leaders tidy their areas of governance. Our nation is degenerating at a fast pace and we need to save it now.

We as a people must positively change our attitude towards our dear country!

Why don't Dangote give out his products for free in other countries where he does business, why don't Glo dash out free credit and data in Ghana and Benin republic? Glo do business in Ghana an Benin republic, they are not treated like outcasts like some of u people try to make DSTV and GOtv look like. Before anything, ask urself if AIT, Mitv, etc are also not available on Daarsat and Startimes. Then ask urself if u can access those channels whenever u are out of subscription on those platforms. Is there any standard Nigerian pay tv that gives free channels when u don't have subscription, did Hitv offer this service when they were alive? DSTV decoder is not free to air, just like Daarsat, so don't expect free channels. If u want free to air channels get a free to air decoder and the right frequency just like TSTV is offering now. But mind u once TSTV starts operation fully and start selling their own decoders, don't expect to watch free channels when subscription is out. This is business. @op I hope u can come back and write this same thing after TSTV have decided to come out of their shells.

First and foremost Heads-on, DStv GOtv MultiChoice are South African owned companies that are in Nigeria for Business purposes lets get that fact straight. Business should be with principles and ethics.

So a friend of mine told me there were television stations in South Africa that are within the boundaries and territory of South Africa that are Free to air in South Africa even on Cable satellite.

I wonder why Nigeria should be any different. Digitalisation doesnt mean the cable satellite provider should arm-twist the local populace, I say this because I dont understand how Nigerians have to pay a subscription fee to a South African company before viewing local Nigerian stations.

This is the bone of contention. Some channels are regarded as Extraterrestrial channels while some other are Terrestrial channels.

From their names, it implies that those extraterrestrial channels are not within our domains and hence out from our reach so it has to be brought to you via satellite and surly you should pay a fee for subscription which is a perfect case.

On the other hand, some Tv channels are our local indigenous television stations domiciled and operating withing the confines of Nigerian borders. This is where the argument is at..

How on earth are you to mandate me to pay a subscription to a South African company just to watch Nigerian terrestrial stations in Nigeria.

If there is no subscription on my DSTV or GOtv, I should be able to at least watch AIT, SILVERBIRD, GALAXY TV, MITV and at least CHANNELS TV without any form of subscription being that before digitalisation and before the switch over these stations were free to air using our local antennas.

This was the point I marveled. Lately GOtv claimed to be on a bonanza spree. Before this time, if your subscription expires you could only view NTAinternational with an expired bounquet. With their bonanza came 5 other channels GOtv has released to be free to air and I was wondering to myself, so these steps are intentional and deliberate moves at Arm-twisting and possibly short changing Nigerians by witholding these channels in the first place.

If I can not view CNN BBC and other extraterrestrial stations when my subscription is up, why on earth and in heavens name shouldnt I be able to view local terrestrial channels like AIT and co.

These are the ordeals I thought to bring to bare to have these foreign owned companies know Nigerians are no fools.

If GOtv can release 5 worthless channels as free to air then I believe they are capable of doing better by releasing more channels and making them free to air especially our own terrestrial channels.

DSTV GOTV and Nigerians have come such a long way and I dont see no reason for no baseless Arm-twisting cos these were the same thing MTN their sister South African company did to Nigerians not till MTN got competition from Airtel and Glo and sat up, today telecommunications industry is better for it even tho nigerians were fleeced.

With competition from FreeTv, and in time to come with help of other well meaning Nigerians speaking up, I believe DSTV GOTV should lower their subscription levi and allow enough free to air channels since installing their kit cost a fortune already.

How on earth do you install a GOTV antenna and decoder with way over #5000 only to watch NTAinternational without subscription? This is unjust and negates business ethics and principle.

It is sad Nigerians have to depend on a South African owned company to provide for them cable satellite services but its worse seeing this same companies Arm-twisting Nigerians.

Maybe its a case of getting what you deserve or maybe not.

The bottom line is, DSTV GOTV should be more liberal and leave local Nigerian Terrestrial stations as Free to air to Nigerians.
