Numbers in football may be deceiving. But when you watch matches you see everything in details . Thats how Chelsea stupidly bought Morata because of deceptive numbers, that some of us were against because we watched his games for Madrid.



If VVD is replaceable, then Mane is easily replaceable.

Ramos is a great defender but he never had a season that beat VVD's last season. That's a fact, Madrid were lucky to have attackers that scored over 100 goals to mask the leaky defence led by Ramos that year in Laliga.



In that season, Godin led his team to win the league, conceding fewest in the league. He was so good that he was the laliga player of the month twice, consecutively. A feat Pique and Ramos never achieved, but they would hand them the defender of the year, because they were Spaniards. Nonsense.

In 2015, Pique faced EPL champions (Man City) in the RO16 and stopped Aguero. He faced Ligue 1 Champions (PSG) in the Q/Fs and stopped Cavani, he faced Bundesliga champions (Bayern) in the S/Fs and stopped Lewandowski and later faced Italian Champions (Juventus) in the final and stopped Tevez.

But he didn't get all the hype VVD is getting now.

I think it's because of the amount Liverpool bought him - 75 million. Plus Liverpool's great performances and form.

If Manchester United was doing extremely well, Maguire would have also gotten some extreme hype too.

I feel why he was hyped was because of the immediate impact he had on the Liverpool defence. Liverpool b4 VVD concedes goal left right and center, even tho Mane and salah was scoring. When vvd arrived, the amount of goals conceded per game reduced drastically. So if you're a Liverpool fan, you'll really feel the improvement. He carried the form over to last season too, and added the record of a defender not beaten/dribbled past for the highest minutes throughout a season, both domestically and in Europe. He improved others alongside him in defence(Gomez improved wen playing alongside him, and even matip whom most pool fans tag as flop improved significantly wen playing alongside him too). With all these stats and details, you could feel the hype. That's why he was in contention for the balon dor above mane...
Maybe from next season, wen d hype is down, mane will be duly recognized, but for now, as you said, na really VVD luck.

VVD-led Liverpool's defence conceded just 22 epl goals, lost only 1 epl match and finished 2nd scoring just 89 goals.

Why would anyone hype a Ramos that conceded 38 league goals, when the likes of Godin even did a better job in the league?

Watching the matches don't mean anything when all the numbers are there for you to see,Mane was more pivotal to Liverpool's success than VVD..another decent defender would have easily slotted in that system if he wasn't there but you will find it extremely hard to replace Mane's numbers and contribution...I hope you get what I mean

He was the most influencial liverpool player by miles.

Stopping Lewandowski and those others was a team effort bruh..do you want to tell me he single handedly did it as the only man in defence Mane kept on scoring crucial goals left and right and was highly influential in Senegal's run to the afcon finals

And VVD wasn't the most influential just the most hyped and I don't know why...you didn't see Ramos being hyped like this even when he had far better numbers during our la decima run

If Mane was European or south American I'm very sure he would have been on that podium just like Modric was

Maybe your right, but I feel star wars movie and series are not under the control of Marvel but under the control of Lucasfilm. Does that make sense? Marvel got the license to star wars recently say 2015 but Disney acquired Lucasfilm a bit further back than that. So it is no brainer for Disney to give comics right to their comic branch which is Marvel. Hope you can see where am coming from.
