Not everyone reads comics. And speaking of comics, there are issues where the character is better written. If you are talking about comics, how about the animated series and films where Superman is presented in serious light? Let's talk about the CW Superman. And that wasn't a movie mind you.

James Gunn is better writing obscure characters. Listen I have no problem with the portrayal of Superman, Lois, Lex Luthor, Guy or Mister Terrific, I have issues with the story and the costumes. Sure the acting was over the top sometimes but that's not on the actors.

The solution is for creators to focus on creating their vision and engage with minimal criticism.
No content has ever had unanimous positive reception. There's always going to be audience members who don't like the content. As long as you get through to a significant audience, you're good. Focus on entertaining that audience.

It's really this simple.
The problem is that studios and media companies keep trying to break into multiple demographics to increase the customer base.

This is one of the reasons why cinemas are failing, studios are confused as to what the audiences want because the audience are also confused. I remember these same set of people crying that "the heroes journey" is missing during Cavill's era especially in superhero movies and that he's overpowered making the character boring, now they give them the opposite, they are still whining. I don't like the critical drinker but there's a quote he said that I really like, "Most theatre goers post pandemic don't know what they want and it's affecting studios decisions". I'm just not a little bit surprise about how shallow some people are here. They can't seem to get what Gunn did, is just to show the human side of Superman, that Superman, despite being an alien, is every bit human.

Gunn showed us even Superman, need a helping hand, and even a shoulder to cry on and some humans (lex Luther) aren't human at all. Luthor's plans reveal him to be a monster.

Let be real If Gunn Superman made $600M in box office, with 50% of people hating on the movie…..what do you expect from this Justice gang members each of their movies will make?

I’ll not watch this peacemaker S2 and supergirl will be the last Movie I’ll watch till Gunn is out of DC

I don't know how you watched that movie but in the beginning we were led to believe that Superman had never lost a fight in 3 years before the Hammer of Boravia, people didn't have a problem with him not losing then.

Ultraman was a dumbed down version of him and he was fed counter moves by a human whom Superman is 100,000x faster than. Nothing excuses the way Superman was handled in the beginning. He wasn't having any problems with the Kaiju because the Kaiju had never grown that big before and it was confused, slow and it's only fire power was literally fire which does nothing to Superman. You can hardly call beating that kind of creature a feat.

He wasn't fending off Ultraman in that field, don't stretch it. Ultraman was landing hits and when he beat the shit out of him The Engineer proceeded to suffocate him with nanites while he was on his knees and his flight out of earth was an escape mechanism. The Raptors weren't exactly clothed in Vibranium or anything like that, your idea of flattening them was just spraying them with heat vision. If he didn't do that at the end we would have questioned if he had heat vision. Do you really expect us to be impressed by that? Do you even know what a feat means?

He beat a brain dead version of himself and don't mention him getting out of that black hole without Metamorpho. Don't forget he was holding his baby so Metamorpho pulled with every strength he had. At least you have accepted his reaction speed is shit, maybe we are getting somewhere.

You guys are even going too far with this. There's no way Lex Luthor would be able to give instructions in the middle of a fight between 2 Kryptonians (one by birth and the other by DNA) unless one was completely dumb and the other was Corenswet's Superman. Even if he was moving at Makkari's level, Lex wouldn't be able to see him coming and he would have broken Ultraman in under 60 seconds. You guys are talking about speed as if he faced an intergalactic being where he needed that kind of speed. This was supposed to be a regular day in the park and he was utterly dog walked, dragged across the ground and kicked in the nuts.

This Superman was the weakest to ever to be released on screen, there's no way this weakling is not getting cooked by characters like Doomsday or Darkseid. Assuming he hit Guy Gardener in that building when he was asked to make a movie, Guy would have mopped the floor with him. There's absolutely no way Green Lantern who has watched Superman for 3 years and knows what he can do will challenge an angry Superman like that unless he didn't rate him.

Also you have to understand that Ultraman in this movie is not Superman's equal. He's a dumbed down version of Superman, Lex Luthor only said he's as stupid as Superman out of spite so beating him is no feat. Lex mentioning a few moves that have to be entered into a computer before sent to his brain is what enables this empty vessel to not only mop the floor with Superman but almost kill him Superman had to go back to get an ample dosage of the Sun only to get whooped again. Oh and if not for metamorpho, dude would have been swallowed whole by a black hole.

2) Clark Kent time travels in Smallville in several episodes
3) In the JL cartoon series, Superman did it too
4) Yes, Superman did time travel in the comics too

Flash is faster but both of them can time travel.

This is my biggest problem with James Gunn’s Superman.

He’s the weakest Superman I’ve ever seen.

The way Superman gets captured so easily in this movie bothers me. Yes, he’s vulnerable to Kryptonite—but it's not that easy to render him powerless. The Man Of Steel would definitely fight back when facing a life-threatening situation.
