“Rose…..”

“Don’t spoil it please…..” she said subtly.

They were both naked with her head resting on his chest. He was caressing her hair while her breath did same to the hairs on his chest. They were both recovering from post orgasmic bliss and were both deep in thought.

He felt a pang at his conscience. It shouldn’t have happened, he thought. She was vulnerable, hurt and needed to be comforted. He shouldn’t have allowed it get to that point.

Against the part of his heart crucifying him was one that felt a deeper connection to her. That moment when he took her, the lost look, the surrender and wholesome welcome, the fragility of giving herself to him. That moment of orgasm when she clung to him, he was close too but felt a need to protect her and right at that moment as she laid on his chest, he felt himself deep into her world.

He brought life into her, she felt alive and whole again. It was a connection she never felt, it was deep and soulful. It felt like she was drifting into a wonder land. He took her gently tearing down the walls of hurt and pain, reaching to the end of her world. For that moment she felt herself alone in a world that only existed for them.

As she laid on him listening to the rhythm of his heart beat she felt an overwhelming peace. She wasn’t thinking of anything, not work, not the betrayal, not home, not family. For the first time in her life her mind was unperturbed with thoughts. She was alone, all alone in a world with him at that moment and so long she wished for that moment not to pass. Slowly her eyes got weak as she drifted into a world of no worries.

Lydia

She took a deep breath stepping out from the car with the help of her house help. She had her shades on to hide the bruises under her eyes from the heat of the sun. She turned to her help and forced a smile.

“I think I can manage from here.”

“Are you sure madam, the doctor said……..”

“I know what the doctor said Jane, thank you.”

Brazing herself, she took another deep breath before taking the first step towards her place of torture and torment while Jane followed slowly behind her ready to reach out should she miss a step.

For the four days she spent in the hospital, Nicolas never showed his face neither did he call to inquire about her wellbeing. Although she wasn’t even in her wildest dream expecting him to come around but it hurts, not because of herself but for the lost baby.

What else could life hold for her? She was seeing hell already and was living with the devil himself. She’d regretted and cursed the day she set her eyes on him, she has cursed the fate that brought them together.

Right at the hospital bed, she’d vowed that that was the last punch she was taking from him. She’d set out plans and those plans were the reason why she was back to his house. When her plan pulls through, she was going back to the one man who could give the world for her; David.

She missed her step close to the stairs but Jane was handy to steady her.

“Sorry madam, take it easy.”

Again she forced a smile.

“Thank you Jane…. I got this.”

When she finally made her way into the house, the first sight that greeted her was that of her husband focused on the television without sparing her a glance. She was surprised to see him at home at that time of the day but did well not to show it. Without words to him, she made her way up the stairs with the help of Jane and walked straight to one of the rooms.

“What are you doing here?” he asked taking a sip from his glass of whiskey; he had been on it since he came back.

For an answer she walked over to the bar and picked a cup, poured herself some shots and settled opposite him.

“What are you doing here?” He repeated looking intently at her. She’d emaciated and not looking like herself.

“Guess this is the only place for me this moment.” She said absent mindedly taking a sip from her cup.

“This is no place for you Nonye. You’ve ruined me; everything. I have lost the woman that means the world to me, to what end?....huh?.... to what end?”

She smirked coldly taking another sip from her cup. Again the drink burned its way through her throat. She’d been crying herself silly since the fateful day Rose walked in on her and Richard. She’d cursed and blamed herself for the whole time but at that moment she realized that all the penance was to no end. She too deserves something good, which had been her intent from the start. She couldn’t watch every other person around her be happy while she languished in misery of heart break after heart break.

“You think you are the only person that lost a friend?” she started, tears gathering in her eyes. “I lost one too and it’s killing me.”

“Why did we keep this going on?” he screamed. “She was my girlfriend; she was your best friend. How could we’ve been this heartless? Rose is an Angel, how could we have ruined everything?”

“Because I wanted what she had,” she cried slipping off to the floor letting the glass cup fall from her hand. “I wanted to happy. I envied her happiness, envied what you two had, wanted so much to be in her shoes.”

Her words struck him as he stared at her in surprise. He couldn’t believe what he just heard; he didn’t want to believe his ears.

“Wait… Wait……what did you just say? All these were your plans? So it was never a mistake, you b*tch.”

She stood up and walked closer to him.

“Yes, I wanted what was hers, I wanted you. Call me a b*tch but I deserve to be happy and yes, though I never had you all to myself but I was happy. You think what we had was a mistake? Nah, it wasn’t. First time could be termed a mistake but six freaking years can’t be termed that. Each moment we spent together, it was clear you wanted me so much as I wanted you.

“Nonye…..”

“Richard.. I know I could never take her place in your life but I never stopped wishing. So many times I wanted to stay away from you but I couldn’t. I was so attracted to you but I kept it in because I didn’t want to ruin what you had with Rose. I hate myself that things turned out this way but maybe its just a silver lining, maybe it was just meant to be me and you.”

“We aint f*cking meant to be ……it all was a big terrible mistake,” he barked. “This whole thing, you and me it was all…..” he trailed off as her gown slipped off forming a heap at her foot. Staring at her luscious body his senses seemed to stop functioning at that moment. No matter how many times they got down, it still fascinates him.

He swallowed hard as she walked towards him in subtle steps. It was very obvious; the tent below his abdomen.

“I know that for whatever reason you want me so much as I want you.” She said before placing her lips against his’ and in no time she was holding to the couch while he buried his shaft balls deep into her unleashing his anger and frustration.

She stepped hard on the accelerator speeding out of her work premises. She wanted to be far away from him. She couldn’t believe it, for six years it has all been going down behind her. As she connected to the main road, the only place her mind was set on was HIS house.

********

He wasn’t having the best of luck with job hunting. Again, he just came back from an interview which they outrightly told him that they couldn’t hire him. He was tired as everything seemed not to be going his way. He was hungry, broke and his rent was soon to expire. He’d been holding up but it was all coming down on him; it’s breaking him.

He thought his life worse. Suddenly, his hopes, dreams, plans all seemed to be diminishing. He is wrecked emotionally and financially.
Worse still, calling home was the last option which he wasn’t going to take. He didn’t want his parents getting worried about him. He knows how they’re managing and wouldn’t want to be another burden to them.

He wasn’t even a person to auction his property but, at that very moment that seemed to be the only way out.

He stood up and walked the length of his room thinking of which of them he could start with. He was still with his thought when he had a desperate knock. For a while he stopped and listened; the knock came again.

He’d barely opened the door when she ran into his arms crying. He was surprised but held to her without words letting her free her emotions. He could feel her tears wetting his shoulder and dripping down his back as he had only his singlet on.

He could feel her heart thumbing against his as she cried with her boobs firmly pressed on his chest. For some reason his nerves didn’t react rather his heart was with her. His legs were beginning to get weak as she had all her weight on him so he gently led her to the bed. His innocent mind just wanted them to sit on the bed but his right leg toppled over the left sending them crashing on the bed before he could get his balance.
He thought she would get off him but she didn’t. Though she’d stopped crying but her hands were still around his neck, her face buried in his chest with her body pressed down on him. He was uncomfortable as she was between his legs and could notice a stir from his crotch.

“Rose..” he called softly trying to shift her a bit from himself.

“Please don’t.” she pleaded…”please.”

“I don’t……” he started but her lips sealed his mouth pushing the words back before they were out. With her hands now holding his face and lips squashed to his he gave up and surrendered parting his lips to welcome hers.

The feel of her lips against his and the slow rhythm of the kiss awoken all his nerves. It was passionate and emotion laden. It felt different as their tongues twirled and rolled against each other rhythmically. That moment as she held his face with his hand around her, his worries disappeared.

Gradually, it heated up with their breath becoming heavy and fast paced as they ate on each other’s lip. She wasn’t between his laps anymore rather she had him secured between hers as they fought in the battle of their passionate kiss.

Their moans were rising as their hands explored every part of their bodies. Within a twinkle of an eye their clothes were flying in different direction. It was a moment which had them unleashing the hurts, the longing, the agony so buried with them.

Turning her over, he held her hands above her head and buried his mouth on her b**bs licking around her areolas and sucking deep into them interchangeably. She was moaning soulfully drawing every bit of the beast in him out. Letting her hands free, he cupped her b**bs and fondled them gently staring into her eyes. She was lost but he saw the hunger and longing in her eyes and that was all he needed as he parted her legs and gently pushed himself into her bit by bit till he was balls deep into her. He felt her hold tight to him shivering as he made his way into her. Her mouth wide open, hand and legs clasped firmly around him.

The warmth and firmness of her walls around his shaft was ‘cum drawing’ as he left himself deep into her both of them savoring the feeling.
“David please….please….. make love to me.” he heard her moan into his ear. His thrusts were slow and deep coming stroke after stroke. With their passion heating up again, his tempo increased and suddenly he was ferociously burrowing into her drawing out deep and loud moans from her soul.

She started shivering and frantically reaching out to hold anything within her reach. She sprang up and clung around his neck drawing him down with her. She was trembling with each of his thrust moaning loudly.

“Dav….. Dav…” he heard her sing into his ear before she suddenly went stiff. He was close and felt his cum gathering with each deep thrust. He wouldn’t go at it longer as his legs buckled. He thrusted spastically squeezing his butt as his sack tightened and his cum came flowing shot after shot deep into her.

“Ma’am, Richard is here to see you.” The voice of her secretary rang through the intercom.

“Ok, show him in.” She straightened from her laptop and stretched herself. This is the moment and she has to brace up and face him. She’d been avoiding him but it has got to stop.

It was two weeks since after her disastrous heartbreak and she has resumed at her work despite her leave break not elapsing. She’d so buried herself at work trying to hide her hurts in fine prints. She knew that a day will come when she would have to face him; maybe that day was then and she wasn’t going to allow him affect her. After their first attempt at talking on the phone which they ended up not saying a word, he hasn’t tried calling again till that moment.

She fixed her eyes at the door waiting for his entrance. She was determined to be in-charge of whatever was going to happen.

“Hello Richard.” She said with an expressionless countenance as he walked in. “How are you? Make yourself comfortable.” She waved him to a seat.

“Rose….” He called remorsefully walking towards her table. He tried holding her gaze but was quilt ridden to look into her eyes causing him to look away. He stood close to her lost of words as tears gathered in his eyes.

She watched on without saying a word. She wanted to hear him say something. His tears has always been her breaking point but at that moment her heart and mind was far away with a stranger.

“Rose please forgive me,” he started. “I know I hurt you ………”

“Richard sit down please.” She said cutting through his words.

Instead of sitting, he went down on his knees and let the tears flow.

“You are embarrassing me please, sit down if you want to talk else I will leave here for you.” She admonished sternly.

He was stunned by her unflinching attitude. His tears have always been her weakness but right there at that moment she wasn’t given a damn. That was a side of her which he never knew. Sometimes hurt can change a beautiful soul. He stood up and settled on the seat still avoiding her gaze.

“I need to ask you few questions,” she started, “I hope you will be disposed well enough to give me honest answers?”

He nodded without words dapping his eyes with a handkerchief.

She liked the fact that she was on top of the situation dictating the flow of the discussion. She liked how he could suddenly cow before her presence.

“Richard I have been thinking and till this moment some issues are still yet to be settled in my mind.” She paused not taking her eyes away from his face. “I have asked myself where I went wrong, was I not good enough for you? What did I do wrong, did you ever ask for anything which I didn’t give?”

“Rose I am sorry,” he started again going down on his knees. “You are all I could ever ask for.” He cried. “I don’t know what got into me…… please give me a chance to make this right…please.”

“Of all the people in this world it was Nonye you choose.” She tried hard to fight back the tears but it was a lost course as they trickled down.

“Nonye my …….” She sniffed as the words stuck to her throat. “How could the both of you……? If she was what you wanted why did you have to come for me?” she cried.

“It’s you I want Rose. I don’t know what came over me please forg…….”

“How long have the both of you been on it; two months…. Three months ….one year?” she asked cutting through his word. “I want to know, tell me.”

“Rose please…….”

“Answer the damn question.” She barked through tears.

“Six years.” He answered and bent his head shamefully.

She was stunned and thrown off for a moment. She couldn’t believe her ears.

“Wha.. what did you just say?”

“It all started six years ago when we………”

She busted out laughing when he repeated it. Six fucking years. She stood up and walked around her table making a mental calculation. Six years ago was exactly when they started dating.

“Wait … wait” she stopped drifting away in thought for a moment. “That was when we started dating?”

“Rose I am sorry.” He stood up trying to hold her hand but she slapped them off.

“Was it before or after me?”

“Rosy please….. let’s not go…….”

That was the height of it. She has had enough. Again her legs felt weak but no, she wasn’t going to be there with him. For six years, she thought she had him alone to herself. For six years, he’d been screwing her best friend and yet she never got a hint. She found herself struggling to take a breath. The tears were chocking her up. Suddenly, it felt like she was having a panic attack. Reaching out for her key, she made straight for the exit but he was up already trying to stop her.

“Rosy…!!”

‘Get out of my way.” She shouted sending her hand flying to his face. That had sent him out of her way immediately as she rushed out crying.

Lydia

“When am I going home?” she asked the doctor who walked in to check her up.

“Very soon ma. We have to observe you for two days more after which we can decide to discharge you or not.” The lady doctor replied taking down some notes in her file after which she handed it back to the nurse.

“I want to go home.” Lydia said trying to prop herself up but the doctor held her back.

She turned to the nurse and demanded that she excuse her with the patient. The young lady obliged and left leaving them alone.

“Mrs Lydia,” she started, “ I was made to understand that your husband has neither called nor visited.”

“He is not in the country.” She retorted brusquely avoiding the searching eyes of the doctor.

“I am a woman like you,” she continued, “You can talk to me. What really happened to you?”

“There is nothing to talk to you about, it was just a fall, and I am fine.”

“If you insist…. And like I said, we have to observe you for few more days ok?”

She nodded turning her face away as hot tears streamed down her eyes. She couldn’t believe her life could turn that way. That was one out of the numerous cases of domestic violence she was going through in the hands of her secret husband Nicolas, this time around, she had a miscarriage.

Her life had known no peace since she moved in with him. How he could suddenly turn into a demon over night.

It had all started two months into her training. She’d met Nicolas one morning when she was running late for her classes. He had picked and dropped her at the training school. He never asked for her contact nor tried to bring up unnecessary discussion with her having noticed how eager and desperate she was to get to her destination.

Few days later, after her classes she came out to him waiting. At first she didn’t recognize him but he called out to her. That had been the beginning of their friendship. He’d pick her up in the morning and was always waiting for her before her classes ends.

Despite picking and dropping her, he also showered her with gifts and money. At first her weak attempt to stay away from him proved abortive as he was just everywhere she turned. The financial help and gifts he was showering her made her life a whole lot easier and suddenly she started getting attached to him.

After few weeks he asked her out on an official date and she was so happy to oblige him. From that moment henceforth her relationship with him started. It had been a dream come through. Suddenly she was seeing a brighter future for herself and didn’t need to worry about David. All she needed to do was break it off with him and move on.

Nicolas was just a perfect guy. He never got jealous nor asked about her past. They never had issues as he would just walk away or apologize for peace sake. Her life was fun with him.

Just like her, he was also there for a program which was to elapse the same time as hers. Luckily for her when she was posted after her training, it happened to be in the same state where he resides which was also where David was staying. He had pleaded with her to move in with him and she accepted, not like she’d have rejected. If only she knew that moving in with him was going to be the beginning of her misery.

Within few weeks he got her engaged and married and from that point everything changed. He’d started by telling her to resign from her job because he didn’t like her career path. She’d objected but in other to persuade her, he doubled the pay which she was getting at work. She was amazed by the offer and took it without hesitation.

The next was cutting her off from her friends and every social event. She’d blatantly refused and that had triggered off a series and continuous trend of domestic abuse. He will beat her mercilessly and end up r*ping her in the pool of her own blood.

At first he would come back begging and apologizing with expensive gifts promising not to touch her again but give it two days and all his promises will be flying through the window. Suddenly the apologies stopped coming and the abuse tripled.
Regret was washing through her as the thought of David came to her mind. He loved her with everything. He provided for her from his little. He had plans for her and she messed up everything because of greed not knowing that [b]‘all that glitters is not gold.’[b]

She was soaking her pillow with tears oblivious of the entrance of her help.

David

He’d decided that the best way to heal and hurt less was to get busy and that he was doing. He’d been walking around since morning visiting companies and dropping his CV. He has done that for three days none stop hoping to land something soon.

He was back from one CV submitting missions and was resting when his mind drifted to his relationship with Lydia.

****flashback****

Their problem had started two months after Lydia left for her four months training in another state. The first month had them talking every day. He would call her in the morning and evening. They’d talk about her day, his work and anything else. This had continued till the second month and everything changed. Suddenly she started acting all busy, not taking his calls and rushing off each time she picks. The ‘I love you’ started being heavy in her mouth. Their every day call started turning to days without calls. Though he never stopped calling her but she either rejects the call or send him a message after.

That had continued till after her training. During those times he never failed in his duty of sending her monthly allowances despite knowing that she was earning from the training. He lost his job the month she passed out from training school.

If her attitude was wired before he lost his job, it became worse after. She could go on for days without taking his call and to cap it all, she never came back to him after the short break before she resumed fully to her work.

All his effort to fix things between them was futile little did he know that he was walking alone already.

He had drifted to sleep from his thought only to be jolted by a knock on his door. Sitting up drowsily, he listened as the knock came again. He wasn’t expecting anybody and the compound which housed him and two other occupants was empty when he came back.

Rose

She drove out from the hotel where the manager who recognized her immediately she stepped in wasted no time in narrating to her what had happened the day she got drunk in the hotel. To say that she was embarrassed would be saying the least. She had apologized and left the hotel as fast as she could.

She was guilt ridden. What he did for her can’t be paid for and yet all she could offer was to pay him. How could she? And to make it worse, she ran away from him not even reaching out to him to appreciate his good gestures. How could she be so ungrateful? Cursing herself, she swore to make amends.

Parked outside the gate, being good with her memory, it wasn’t hard locating his place. The street was quiet apart from store owners and few passersby. The looks she got as she stepped out from her car weren’t new, it happens anytime she parked. She made her way into the compound through the opened gate.

The silence of the compound gave her doubts if any of the occupants was at home. She will drop a note should she meet his absence.

“Who is there?” he asked sitting up drowsily. He had only his boxer short on.

The words stuck in her throat as the effect of his voice washed down her spine. She stiffened immediately she heard his voice which had sent butterflies into her stomach.

Throwing another short over his boxer, he made for the door to check the visitor who has refused to talk. As he pulled up the curtain, he stiffened; there stood the last person he expected to see. Their eyes locked into each other. It was a moment which had their eyes communicating to their soul. It lasted for a while before they recovered from the enchantment.

“Oh! Sorry……” he started unlocking his door net to usher her in. she was clad in his cloth, the one he gave her the day she left his house. She looked amazing and alive. The pains in her eyes were gone.

She walked in quietly avoiding his eyes. She’d felt a current pass through his eyes down into her the moment he held her gaze. It was something she’d never experienced. She felt naked and defenseless in his gaze, it was unarming, fearful and comforting at the same time. The sight of his upper body had also sent tingling feelings down between her legs.

“Make yourself comfortable.” He waved her to the bed.

“Thank you.” She said and settled on the edge of the bed looking around. As usual, everything looked kept and tidy.

He watched her look around avoiding the spot where he sat. He’d already thrown a polo over his bare body.

“What can I offer you?” He offered.

“I’m fine, thank you.” She replied looking at him shyly with a beautiful smile. She had never been a shy girl or one who cowed in anybody’s presence but before this dude, she seemed to be a leaf under the rain.

“The first time you ran away from me and my meal and now………..” he trailed off letting the word hang. He wanted to lighten the tension in the room and her uneasiness.

“What…..?” she started smiling.

“I am not letting you run again this time.”

There is just something about him, she thought as he stood up and made for the door with his wallet.

“Wait…” she called stopping him on his track. “I know this is something I should have said a long time ago. I know I’ve messed up big time but hope you find it in your heart to forgive me. Thank you for what you did for me the other day, I went to the hotel.” She said looking away
His heart melted, how innocent she looks. That instance he blamed himself for getting angry at her. He nodded without words and left.

They were settled on a plate of biscuit and two cans of malt eating silently. None of them have uttered a word since he served the snacks. On his part he was lost in thought. That had always been how himself and Lydia shared everything. They ate together even when they were annoyed with each. He sighed shaking his head oblivious of the company he had.

She thought he was just shying away from talking to her just like herself but when he sighed it struck her that he’d been thinking. What could he be thinking that he will sigh despite her presence?

“Are you ok?” she asked facing him.

“Huh?”…. ye..yes, I’m fine”

“You just sighed and ……..” she stopped not wanting to push further. On his part, he wished she didn’t probe further because he didn’t want to talk about his thoughts at that moment. They relapsed into another moment of silence sipping on their drink slowly.

She wished he could talk to her. For some reason something tells her that he was suffering. If he could talk to her, maybe she could help ease his pains. She didn’t want to push into his personal life despite feeling strangely comfortable and at peace around him.

“What happened to you that day?” he asked breaking the silence which hung over them. Since the night he picked her the question had kept burning in his guts.

“What?” she retorted feigning ignorance of his question.

“You don’t strike me as an alcoholic or a junkie……. You are someone I feel has a reputation to protect and …….”

“David please don’t.” she knew where he was going and didn’t want to talk about it either. Same reason she left her house.

“No, listen to me. I don’t know what must have happened to you but whatever it is; the place you ran to for refuge was the wrong place. I’m not trying to judge you but…….” He trailed off not wanting to be misunderstood.

She nodded avoiding his eyes.

“I’m not trying to blame or judge you.” He raised his hands trying to make humor of the moment.

“I know and thank you for being there for Me.” she smiled.

“The pleasure is mine.”

Richard was about the most confused man in the world at that moment. For over one week since she walked in on him and Nonye, she’d neither answered his calls nor allowed him to her house.

How could he have known that she was coming back that day? He was on the phone with her that morning and she told him that her arrival was due the following week. If only he knew, if only he’d nipped the affair in the bud.

Rose meant everything to him, she is his world. He knew nobody would be like her. He met her a virgin back in their university days when finding one was rare. Despite her beauty and endowment, she was pure and chaste. She gave him a peace he never had. He could sleep easy knowing that Rose was his for life. She never made him jealous; she had been faithful to him and what they had and now he has messed everything up.

His affair with Nonye dated back to their university days when he had his first issue with Rosemary. Nonye was Rosemary’s best friend and had tried working things out between them. It was on one of her peacemaking visits that one thing had led to another and they got down. They had promised each other that it wasn’t going to happen again after that but it didn’t stop there, it had continued. So many times he tried ending the affair but they always find a way to get back to it.

That fateful day he had decided to end it with Nonye. That was supposed to be the last time they were going to meet. He hadn’t planned on banging her but when she walked around his table, her buttons open and skirt rolled up, he couldn’t resist her.

What was he going to tell his family and friends? His family is so in love with Rose, his friends also. Everybody cherished Rose. Quilt was shredding him.

She’d finally answered his call and he had no words to offer. What was he going to tell her? He knew how emotional she could be. He’d cursed himself and blamed whatever pushed him to Nonye but alas, it was too late for that, the deed has been done.

*********
The air brushing against her face scattering her hair was a relief; it soothed her soul. She had no destination in mind as she kept driving around. Her heart felt light and hurt less. Though the images kept appearing on her head but she felt less hurt each moment.

One thing had remained a mystery to her, when and for how long they’ve been having the affair behind her. She’d thought long and hard. She couldn’t pick out any pointer that would have tipped her off. Well, she give it to them, they actually did a good job hiding their affair.

Having been on the road for thirty minutes without a destination, something suddenly struck her. Taking a turning she headed to the hotel she’d ran to the day her world had come crashing. Maybe with a streak of luck she’d find answers to how she had ended up in a guys house instead of hers.

TWO

It was one week gone after the mysterious lady left his house but not his heart. No day passed without him thinking of her. The thought of her had gradually replaced Lydia in his heart. Though the memories still lingered but the hurt was less.

The anger which he had for her ungratefulness had died off replaced by another feeling. He wanted to see her again. Despite not knowing her, he missed her. The thought of her always brought a comfort to his soul. He’d blamed himself a couple of times for not asking to have her contact.
He caught himself lost several times thinking about her and holding her image in his mind. He’d felt her hurts and had wanted to reach out to her. She was innocent and harmless. For so many reasons he wanted to soothe her pains and make them go away despite his own.

Rosemary
She had cried for days locked in her room nursing her heartbreak. The betrayal was too much for her. The world meant less to her.
She had turned off her line ordering her security man not to let anybody into the house and her house help to take a message on all calls coming through her home line.

When she finally exhausted the tears in her tear gland, she dusted herself and decided to pick the pieces of her heart and move on, thank goodness they’ve not kick started their wedding plans. She is hardworking and that alone will take her mind off her hurts; so she thought.
She made up her mind that she wasn’t going to tell anybody about it, not even her family. She didn’t want unnecessary issues. Her mind was made and ahead she was going. If only it’s that easy. Infidelity is a hurt that could take a life time to heal.

“Madam!” her help called surprised as she saw her walking down the stairs. Her happiness was unmistaken and Rose saw it on her face.

“I’m so sorry for all I have put you through.” She apologized going into her helps hands. They shared a special bond. Molly has been her nanny when she was kid and also like a mother. She was someone that she could tell anything, every tiny bit of it. She knew what she must have put her through. She had no doubt that the times she cried in her room; Molly was at the door crying with her. Whenever she brought her food she could see how puffy here eyes were.

“My baby, are you ok?” she’d asked hugging her tightly. She always call her ‘baby’ each time she cried on her shoulder and that moment she was. She is someone she could get vulnerable around and feel comfortable before Richard came into her life.

“I don’t know Molly, I think I will be.” She cried. They both held to each other crying for a while.

“Whatever it is, I know you are strong, don’t let it break you.”

“I don’t know if I can handle this one alone….. its crushing me.” she sobbed subtly.

“It won’t crush you, I am here for you and whatever it is we will face it together.” She consoled through her own tears.

“Now let me fix something for you,” she said breaking the hug, “You are not starving on me again.”

She didn’t have the appetite but knew better than to stop her. She cared for her more than her own mother who was more concerned with business than her only child. Again, she’d suffered her enough. She nodded as Molly left for the kitchen.

She picked her phone from the table where she’d left it the day she came back and powered it. She had over a hundred text messages majority of which were from Richard and Nonye. Few others were from her colleagues and network provider. Marking the messages from Richard and Nonye, she deleted all without reading them.

She was due to resume work in few days having been on two weeks work leave but she wasn’t going to wait till her leave elapsed, she was resuming the following day.

She was barely done with reading other messages when Richards call came in. Brazing herself, she let the phone ring ready to answer if he called again and again he called.

The silence hanging over the phone was deafening as she waited for him to say something. After some minutes without a word from him she ended the call and dropped the phone on the table leaving for the kitchen.

The delicious aroma graced her nose as she made her way into the kitchen bringing with it the thought she was trying hard to put away from her mind.

“I am starving.” She said startling Molly who had her back turned to the door.

“And that is the best thing I have heard in days now.” She retorted turning to her. “I am almost done.”

“I can’t wait.”

She settled on the seat watching Molly while her mind drifted to the stranger. The thought of him was one she has been fighting. The comfort she felt each time he crossed her mind was scary; it was a comfort that soothed her pain and made them hurt less. Even in her hurt, something in her yawned to go back to him. He was innocently handsome. For some reason she felt he was hurting; she saw it in his eyes when he pulled out the towel.

She knew she owed him a debt of gratitude for all he did for her. Till that moment, she couldn’t tell how she came to be in his house. The last she’d remembered was driving into the hotel and making for the VIP section of the club, every other memory seemed to have been blocked off from her mind.

“Madam!!!” Molly called jolting her.

“Yes…. Sorry, what did you say?” the look of concern on Molly face gave her a quilt. “Molly I am fine.” She reassured. “Did you say anything?”

“Richard is dead worried about you; he’d call and has been around every day to see you. Nonye too.”

She sighed looking away. She didn’t want to give Molly a hint but it was clear on her face, those two names disgusted her.

“Guess I will call them back after.” She said flatly.

“Why are you shutting them out?” Molly pressed subtly.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” She said sternly her mood changing as she left the kitchen.

The mention of those two names had suddenly thrown her appetite to the trash. How she hates the mention of their names. To clear her mind, she decided to go for a drive. She needed a feel of some natural air.

Running upstairs, she changed into a short and top; the one from his stranger friend, his scent still lingered on them.

“Madam, your food is ready.” Molly announced meeting her at the foot of the stairs.

“I have lost my appetite.” She said walking past her. She picked her keys from the table and headed for the exit but stop turning to Molly. She saw the hurts in her eyes. She’d been so happy when she announced that she was hungry and was making her favorite and now she was walking out on the food. She wasn’t one that hurt people’s feelings intentionally.

“Come here Molly.” She called walking back to meet her half way enveloping her in a hug. “I will eat when I get back ok? Just keep it warm.”
Molly nodded without words hoping that she’d get over whatever it is that was taking her joy away.

“See you when I get back.” She said and left.

Her relationship with Richard was one known to their families. They had consolidated it with an engagement leaving their marriage few months ahead.

They started their relationship from their university days. Richard is from a well to do family and likewise herself but the beauty of their meeting was that none of them knew about each other’s background.

They had started from being friends for over four months before he asked her to be his girlfriend. She didn’t need to play hard to get; they matched in so many level.

Their relationship grew above their university days to service year. They had with the influence of their parents got placed in choice places for their service. Though it was in different state but they kept in touch and were seeing each other every month.

Getting a job after their service was with a flick of finger. While Richard had joined in the business of his father as the only son, Rosemary got an offer from a top oil company.

Their relationship brought their families together. She could pass days over at Richards. They accepted her and when they announced their engagement, it had the full backing of their parents.

How could she have know that there had been another lady in Richards life? There had been subtle signs but she had over looked them. Why won’t she? Richard is a very handsome guy with riches at his finger tips. She couldn’t afford to fight all the ladies that admired him. Yes, most times she got jealous but he was always handy to calm and reassure her of his love. If only she never believed the lies. If only she knew that the enemy wasn’t far from her

She’d been away and wanted to surprise him with a visit. She wanted to see the excitement in his face when she walks in on him busy in his office. Since she left he’d constantly sang it into her ears how he missed her. Their voice calls, skype had been filled with how he missed her more reason she’d wanted to surprise him.

Being who she is, she never visits his office without prior notice but heck, she’d been away for two weeks and missed him like hell and knows that the feeling was mutual. She couldn’t wait to rush into his arms, kiss his lips and let him ravish her in his office. She was dripping already at the thought.

Office sex was a little ritual they established when they both got their jobs and this they reserved for Mondays and Fridays. Mondays always had her visiting him and Fridays him coming around, but whenever an emergency led one of them to each other on other week days; it was always complimented with a good quickie.

She was so excited as she rode the elevator to his office clad in a short gown without panties under. Her anticipation was high having seen his car parked. She could feel herself dripping and couldn’t wait to step out from the damn slow Elevator. Not like the machine moved any slower than before but her eagerness made it so.

“Finally,” she muttered rushing out of the machine as it stopped at his floor. Hurriedly, she walked her way into his office with smiles expecting to meet Uzzy his secretary but she wasn’t on sit, unlike her. An idea crept into her head and she smiled naughtily reaching behind to unfasten her bra hook. Pulling it out, she held it seductively and juggled her boobs as she held the door ready to give him the surprise of the century.

“And the queen is……….” The words stuck to her throat as she held the sight before her on opening the door. She stiffened shocked and speechless. They were so lost to have noticed her presence. Their moans sounded like the clap of thunder in her head. She felt weak and her legs wobbled sending her crashing on the floor. She was speechless and devastated watching them in the act with hot tears streaming down her eyes.

They only noticed her presence when the euphoria of their orgasm has washed through them. She was the first to see her before Richard. The shock, the surprise of been caught in the act was unmistaken on their faces. It had taken everything within her to stand up and run away before they could say a word.

How could they? The two people she trusted. How come she never saw this coming, how could she have been so daft not to notice. Richard and Nonye, the two most important people in her life after family.

She’d ran as fast as her legs could carry her crying. Even when she bumped into Uzzy throwing away the piles of file she had; she didn’t stop. She wanted to disappear, to be far away to a land where nobody could find her.

On the floor his earphone plugged in his ears lost in the world of soul music. He has a thing for cool music especially one about love; it takes his soul on a journey.

It was 9am and he was still laid on the floor deep in thought with music sorting his soul. His visitor or rather the girl he saved from the previous night was sleeping peacefully on his bed. He hasn’t slept a wink since they came back the previous night.

When he brought her home, he’d wanted to just lay her on the bed to sleep but that wasn’t the case. He had barely laid her down when she started throwing up making a mess of his bed. That had turned another work for him as he carried her to the bathroom and got her washed. He couldn’t believe himself showering a stranger, not just any stranger but one that is a beauty and so endowed. Afterwards, he managed to get her into one of his panjamas before laying her down on the yoga mat while he cleaned up the bed. While all these happened, she was so drunk to know herself. All she kept saying was “Let me be.”

Done cleaning and making the bed with a new bed spread, he laid her on the bed before heading off to wash her cloths and the messed up bed spread.

From the bathroom, he’d heard her crying and rushed out thinking that she was awake only to find out that she was crying from her sleep. He couldn’t help but imagine what she was passing through which no one knows. For some seconds he thought of what to do before finally joining her on the bed, he didn’t know if she could hear him, but he kept rocking and telling her not be afraid that he was there for her. Like it worked, her sobs had slowly died off as she drifted back into a peaceful sleep.

He left her afterwards to finish up with the cloths after which he came back but sleep wasn’t forth coming.

*******
She felt numb like something ran over by a train. Her head was splitting from the migraine like headache. Stirring drowsily she tried opening her eyes but the bright light blinded her. She winced and shut them back.

Who could have turned on the lights in her room? She thought. Nobody does that except her alone. Turning with her eyes still shut, she reached for the headboard and tried to pick the light control but couldn’t get it. Sighing, she buried her face in the pillow perceiving a fragrance which wasn’t hers. Tithing her nose, she inhaled the aroma of something delicious.

Like she’d been beaten by an ant, she sprang from the bed and looked around lost. This wasn’t her house. Where is she? The room looked neatly arranged; everything in the right places she observed immediately. She made to think but the headache she felt wasn’t helping. She was still trying to figure out where she was and what must have led her there when he came out from the kitchen.

“Oh! You are awake, good morning.”

Her eyes had roamed over him the moment he stepped out. Who is he and how did she end up with him in his house? He was handsome and moderately built with beautiful eyes and lips she noticed immediately. He looked harmlessly handsome. To her utmost surprise his presence didn’t alarm her.

“Who are you and what am I doing here?” she asked gathering herself. She wanted to sound tough but the pain in her head sent her sitting back on the bed as she winced shutting her eyes.

“I know that will come.” He smiled and walked over to his storage cart, picking a card of paracetamol, without words he handed it to her before leaving to fetch a glass of water.

“You will feel better after that and breakfast will be ready in a jiffy.” he said and left to check what he had on fire. He was making yam and egg sauce. He felt relieved that she woke up alright. What if she didn’t? He left that to his imagination. She was beautiful even in her disheveled state.

Her eyes trailed him as he left. Who is this guy? Something in her felt comfortable about him while another felt different. Gulping down the pills, she noticed for the first time that she was on a male panjamas. Alarmed, her mind raced into a million thoughts. “No” she murmured dipping her hand inside to feel her womanhood. She wasn’t fast enough to pull it out as he walked in on her. He looked surprised but covered it as it came.

“Where are my clothes?” she threw at him. “What happened?”

“Don’t worry, nothing happened.” He said the first thing that came to his mind. “And your cloths are outside. You kinda messed them up last time so I had to wash and spread them to dry. If you feel better now, that’s the bathroom and here, use this.” He continued handing her a new toothbrush. He also pulled a neat towel from his wardrobe and immediately the thought of Lydia came flooding his mind leaving him lost for a moment before he realized himself; it was Lydia’s. Handing over the towel, he showed her to the bathroom and went back to the kitchen.

She tried to think after he left but nothing seemed to be forming in her head. She’d watched him lost for a moment after he pulled out the towel. Did the towel remind him of anything? She didn’t care. She needed answers to what brought her there to which he seemed not to tell her. How could she have messed up her cloths, where did they meet to start with? Her head seemed empty aside the headache which was subsiding.
He came out and saw her still seated on the bed.

“I’ll be outside, let me know when you are done.” He said and left. Maybe his presence was making her uncomfortable.

“Please, who are you and how did I get here?” she asked pleading with her eyes.

He smiled. Such a beautiful smile she thought.

“From the club last night.” He said and left.

Something about him, she thought. He is calm and his presence seemed to touch something in her. Walking lazily, she made her way to the bathroom.

As if her memory was lost, the coldness of the water pouring down on her came bringing images from the previous day. She stiffened, letting the soap fall from her hand as the image of Richard ramming into Nonye right on top of his office table pasted itself on her mind. The shock she had felt was enormous. She let herself fall on the floor as tears came rushing down her eyes. Letting go her emotions she cried under the shower.

He sat on the chair outside looking at her car and thinking. Who could she be? For everything, he knew she could either be rich or from a home of one. Something about her kept unsettling his mind, same feeling that made him interfere in her case and bring her home last night. He held the picture of her in his mind. She was a flawless beauty, her beauty was innocent. He’d admired her while she slept peacefully the previous night. How anybody could hurt such an innocent creature.

Apart from trying to identify her, he prevented himself from digging further into her personals. He’d turned off her phone after it kept ringing none stop and placed it together with her handbag on his table. He didn’t know how she’d react when she wakes up so he’d left it until then.

Breaking away from his thought, he stood and stretched his leg. It was over an hour and she hasn’t called him yet, was she washing away her sin. He became curious and headed into the room. His entrance coincided with her exiting the bathroom. Her eyes were red and puffy. He didn’t need to be told that she’d been crying.

“Are you ok?”

She nodded and tried to force a smile but failed as the tears tricked down again.

“I am sorry I kept……..” she started but the tears wouldn’t let her as she broke down again crying.

He reached out to her before she could crash to the floor and held her up enveloping her in a deep hug. He rocked her gently without words while she cried on his shoulder. Letting her free the emotions was the best way of getting her to feel better. She cried for well over five minutes before gathering herself.

“I am sorry.” She apologized breaking away slowly from the hug. If only she could stay longer, if only she could cry on that shoulder for long, it felt like home.

“It’s ok.”

He walked over to his wardrobe, pulled out a short and polo and handed it to her.

“Your cloths are not dried yet, you can change into this.”

She collected them with thanks looking away as the thought of him having unclothed and seen her unclothedness flooded her mind. If only she could tell what was going on in his mind. He smiled before leaving the room once again.

“Hope I won’t stay outside forever this time.” he joked not turning to her. She caught the joke and smiled.

Taking the cloths to her face, she inhaled deeply, it felt soothing. She held it to her face for a while before changing into them. She couldn’t believe how it fitted as she stared at the mirror in the room. Done admiring herself, she walked out to call him; she didn’t even know his name.
He was sitting on a chair backing the door, reason why he didn’t see her come out. She stood at the door post admiring him not wanting to announce her presence. Suddenly he felt a presence behind him and turned. His jaw dropped as he gaped; lost in her beauty. If she looked exceptional before, she looked indescribable that moment clad in his outfit.

“Wow.” He blew off gathering himself. “Have you been there for long?”

She smiled and his heart melted. “Just came out.” She lied.

“That looks good on you.” He complimented as they walked back into the room.

“Thank you.”

“What do I call you?” she asked the burning question in her heart.

“Oh! My bad. I am David.” He smiled charmingly.

“Rosemary.”

“Lovely name.” he complimented. “That reminds me, your phone is in your bag over there. It kept ringing none stop last night so I had to turn it off.” He motioned to where he’d kept her belongings.

She shrugged nonchalantly not moving to get the phone. He had expected that she would go get her phone but was surprised she didn’t.

“Will get breakfast ready.”

He turned to leave but her voice stopped him.

“I think I need to go.”

“Yea I know but eating something will help cure the hangover.”

“I am fine and thanks for everything. I just need to be on my way.”

He didn’t want to try and convince her against her will despite being disappointed by her sudden desire to leave. He’d expected that they’d eat and probably she will tell him what’s wrong with her. Few minutes ago it seemed they were bonding but ……. He wished she could stay a little longer.

“Aright then, let me pack your cloths.”

He felt angry inside but didn’t let it show. He’d actually cooked so that she could eat before being on her way but now…...

“Here you are.” He said handing her a nylon which contained her cloths and undies.

“Let me pay you for the inconveniences.” She said looking away not to meet his eyes.

The words stung him. He felt insulted but didn’t let it show. This is what he got for being helpful.

“No need,” he faked a smiled.

“I will find a way to get your cloths back.” She said as they stood outside close to her car.

“Don’t worry, it fits you more.”

She blushed fiddling with her key. “Even at that, I still need to give it back.”

“Take it as a gift from a stranger. It was a pleasure meeting you.”

Everything within her was urging her not to go but she had too. No matter how innocent and harmless he looked. The comfort she felt around him was scaring her. Around him her pains felt less. He sparked warm feelings within her.

She didn’t want to look at his face as he held the gate for her to drive out; her will could fail her. She drove as fast as her car could move leaving a cloud of dust behind. She wanted to be far away from him. She didn’t need such comfort to heal from her pains.

He walked back to his room furious. Such an ingrate she is. He was a fool thinking her innocent. Not even a goodbye horn, all she could do was leave a cloud of dust. If he had minded his business, he wouldn’t be feeling that way. He got tired of walking around and settled on the bed having lost his appetite.

“Please don’t do this, what about our dreams? This is just for a moment; it will pass.” He pleaded with her for the umpteenth time on the phone. They have been going back and forth on the issue for over an hour on his call time and yet no headway.

“David… I can’t do this any longer. I have a future and I need to make certain of it. You are a good guy and any lady will be so lucky to have you….”

“Then why are you going if any lady will be lucky to have me, Lydia please.”

“I don’t think I am that lady. I don’t think our world are the same again, please just move on with your life.”

That was the last thing he heard before the line went dead.

“Hello… Lydia please, Lydia….” He cried but she was gone.”

Letting the phone slip from his ear, he let himself crash on the floor crying. His world was coming to an end; she is his life, everything he could think of. He felt the world crashing on him as he soaked himself with tears.
Suddenly it seemed everything was going wrong for him. First was his job and now Lydia; the woman he loves. Now the dreams are gone, the plans for the future gone with it.

Lydia was his girlfriend from service year. They met and just like magic something started between them. It was love he never imagined that he’d have. They were the envy of all their friends and even got the best couple award. She was everything he wanted in a woman. They clicked in so many ways and shared almost the same likes. She made his service year the best and memorable.

They had promised each other the future and planned towards it, the number of kids they’d have, where they’d base and the kind of condo they’d build. They had everything planned out and was eagerly waiting on the future to come. How would he have known?

The few months after service year threw in their first challenge. There wasn’t any monthly stipend coming from the government and job wasn’t fast coming as they had dreamed. In this condition, he tried his best to be there for her as much as he could.

David always made sure to give and would go to the extreme to borrow in other to satisfy her needs. She wasn’t the much demanding. In turn she’d offer him little assistance on occasions.

After months of throwing applications in all direction, luck finally smiled on him; he got a contract job that paid fair enough. The pay wasn’t what he’d dreamt of but could manage to get by for them till something better came. The job had been a relieve and another strong support for their future plans.

He didn’t waste time carrying Lydia along when he moved to the state where he was posted. Their love was so strong everyone that came across them could feel it. While he worked, Lydia searched for job. From his salary, he catered for both their needs not failing to always give her some monthly allowance to help her move around and buy other women stuffs.

Their happiness knew no bound when Lydia finally landed it big in a financial institution. It was a day they’d both never forget. If only he knew that that was the beginning of his journey into misery.

ONE

He decided that he’d had enough; the hurts and loneliness. He was taking back the charge over his life. He has cried enough in his heart nursing the hurts of love, shutting off everybody, brooding his heartbreak; he was done.

For the past few weeks he has been a mess, crying through the day and resulting to alcohol at night; everything within him suffered. If only he knew love could hurt so deep.

Standing lazily with puffed eyes, he gathered the empty liquor bottles whose contents have been his companion and left to discard them. As he stepped into the kitchen, the memories came flooding his head; the memories that have been tormenting him. They were perfect and crazy about each other. The days they cooked and ate from the pot while still on the cooker. The nights they spent gossiping about every and anything in the kitchen after series of passionate sex which always left them famished. It was in that same kitchen that they named all their children and planned their perfect future.

Sighing dejectedly, he walked out slowly and headed to the bathroom. He wasn’t surprised at the image that stared back at him through the mirror. He looked like something that the cat couldn’t even drag in. His eyes sunk into their sockets that he could barely see his eye balls. His cheeks dried and sunk like that of an old woman. Three weeks of not shaving, he wasn’t expecting to look smooth.

It took him some minutes to clean up. Dressed in a blue denin pant and a white polo t-shirt he left his apartment for the first time in weeks and headed to his favorite club

*********

He walked into the club and made for the VIP section. The music was blasting from the speakers as he meandered his way through the dancing crowd. Though he is not a good dancer but she was and it always intrigued him how she could whine her waist boneless. He remembered how they’d dance locked up in his room with music from his sound system which often ended in a bout of love making. Everything reminded him of her. She was everything to him; the air he breathe.

“Sir?” the waiters’ voice jolted his mind back.

The VIP lounge was dimply lit that one can barely make out another in the room. He was in thought and didn’t see her approach.

“Oh! Sorry.” He apologized looking up to the waiter whose face he could barely see.

“Sorry if I disturbed your thoughts.” She said curtly waiting to take his order.

“A bottle of Andre please.” He opted for that as he already had a lot of strong liquor in his system for the last few weeks while he wallowed in his misery.

His order came while he was still with his thought. He thanked and tipped her before she left. Sipping from his cup, he relaxed back and watched on as the dance floor was on fire with whining hips. He also tapped away to the sound of the music his mind getting clouded with the thought of her again; no doubt she’d have been giving him a lap dance if she was around. He sighed deeply trying to get her off his mind. He loved that the VIP lounge was empty not like every other Friday night.

He was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice the lady at the extreme dark corner of the room sobbing, languishing herself in a bottle of Royal Challenge until she screamed followed by the crashing sound of a glass cup on the glass wall that demarcated the VIP section breaking a part of it. He was startled and noticed the lady for the first time. Within a twinkle of an eye three bouncers rushed in with the manager and the lights came up illuminating the VIP lounge. She was seated on the floor crying with the bottle beside her and her phone too. They didn’t need a soothsayer to tell them that she was responsible for the crash.

“Take her away.” The manager furiously commanded.

She was dead drunk and mumbling incoherently. He expected that she would apologize, but instead, she stood and charged at the manager cussing. The bouncers were handy and grabbed her before she could get to him. They were going to manhandle her and probably make away with her belongings that he knows for sure. Minding his business was the best he thought but, she’d stirred up an emotion in him; something that made it difficult for him to turn the other way.

“Let me handle this.” He offered walking up to the manager who looked at him scornfully.

“She will have to pay for these damages.” He waved around to the shattered glass.

“How much?”

“Fifty thousand Naira.” He blurted without a thought. He know it’d cost way less than that to repair the damages but the manager just wanted to extort or probably scare him away so that they could do what they want with the lady.

“Ok, let me use your POS.” he didn’t give a thought to that amount being about all he had in his account.

The manager looked disappointed but motioned one of the bouncers to get the POS machine. They threw her to the floor after he paid and left. A look at the lady on the floor sleeping he shuddered in pity; who knows what she might be passing through. Gathering her up, he picked her bag and phone and left.

“Leave me alone.” She mumbled on his shoulder the stench of alcohol filling his nostrils.

“Yea right, I will.”

She looked sophisticated wearing a very expensive designer cologne he noticed. Her state didn’t hide that.

Stepping out from the club he looked around for any sign of a cab but none was in sight. He wasn’t going to carry her like that on his shoulder home, it was an option he can’t even consider. While he waited for any cab that would turn up, a thought urged him to search her bag; maybe she came with a car. True to his thought he saw a car key inside the bag and a bundle of Naira notes. Looking around, he pressed the lock and a black Range Rover Velar beeped twice and stopped. He didn’t want to believe that the drunk lady on his shoulder could own such a ride so he turned away from the car and pressed the remote once again. Again, the beeping sound came from behind him convincing his doubts. Amazed, he stood for a moment before walking towards the car. He got fidgety as he approached the car with so much thoughts running through his head.

This wasn’t how he envisaged his evening to be. Dropping her on the passenger side he moved around to the driver’s side. For a moment he sat confused thinking of what next to do. He didn’t know if to take her to his house or probably take her back and lodge her in the hotel and leave her to her fate. In as much as he wanted to help, he didn’t want to get himself into trouble. What if anything happens to her in his care?

He searched to find a means of identification on her. Hanging on the rear view was her ID. Rosemary, he read her name, a staff of the top most oil company in the country. He turned and looked at the drunk lady surprised. How could someone of such prestige be in such situation? He knows a junkie or an alcoholic when he sees one and the girl right there didn’t look like one. Hope he knew what he was getting himself into. After some thought, he decided to take her home.

Christianity EtcRe: What Are The Things You Will Like Your Church To Change? by purityval(m): 4:27pm On May 13, 2018

I'd like my Church to stop making Tithe paying compulsory. It's compulsory in the sense that they tie it to some benefits which you can't access unless you pay regularly. That's why there's a tithe card.

I'd also like my Church to stop planting Parishes everywhere without equipping them adequately. This makes the Pastors attached to these Churches turn to mini-beggars by soliciting for funds from people anyhow and every time.

Also, the planting of Parishes anyhow gives rise to another disturbing practise: ordaining anyhow persons as Pastors. Some are too young, too inexperienced, not hot for God, not well-grounded etc.

Again, I'd like them to join the Communion Service together with the normal morning service on Sundays instead of having another service in the evening for It and doing everything(offering, Praise & Worship, testimony, Sermon, announcements etc) all over again.

Furthermore, I'd like my Church to make their universities affordable for majority of the congregants and their wards whose monies perhaps helped in building those schools. It's only fair, right & Christainly to do so.

Finally, I don't think I will ever understand the practice of smaller Parishes and school fellowships remitting a certain percentage of their collections to the National Headquarters or to the General Overseer's account directly. Except there's something I'm missing. Cos I think the tap should flow from full to empty or half empty/half full and not the other way around.
I think people should know that it's not compulsory to go to church.

I mentioned sex and finances repeatedly in that post cos somehow, that's all I think you mean when you say "gain". These "gains" you are talking about doesn't have to be only those aforementioned two. There are so much to gain from friends like advice, support, counsel, wisdom, a helping hand, kind words, assistance, listwmening ear, etc.

There's nothing wrong in expecting to gain something from friends (now that we have established it's not just about money & sex). And there's nothing wrong in wanting to contribute meaningfully to their lives also. The only problem is that placing too much hopes & expectations on human beings is like the fastest way to be disappointed. But that doesn't mean I'm wrong for keeping friends who I benefit from & who benefits from me no matter how small.

Earlier on, you mentioned helping someone out & putting a smile on the person's face without expecting anything from him/her. But that's different. We are talking about friends who you should be able to count on (to an extent) when inneed of help. Not someone you jjust met & you extended a hand of kindness to.
But you sha no gimme fish o. undecided Abi that one no follow for gains?
