InvestmentRe: How Safe And Sound Is Piggyvest Are Their Better Alternatives For Dollars Saving by purpose08: 3:25pm On Aug 09, 2021
On Piggyvest right now, they offer 7%pa for their Flex dollar account. The USD Buy price is N525 and the sell price is N510. This results in an effective 3.9%pa ROI if Naira is stable and you decide to sell your dollar for Naira with Piggyvest after one year. However, if Naira depreciates, the ROI (in Naira terms) increases depending on the new rate. Effectively protecting you from Naira depreciation. There is also the option to directly transfer your dollars from your Flex Dollar account to your Nigerian USD Dom account (costs N3,500 per transaction) or your American USD bank Account (costs $45 per transaction)

Hi, everyone I am looking to start my EE application soon. I would appreciate if you can help me clarify the following:

1. I have a master's degree and I am currently studying for my PhD. i see that you can fill in progress/incomplete when trying to register with WES for ECA. can I use evaluate my in-progress PhD. program? or do I have to use my masters instead? If I have to use my masters, do I have to evaluate both my first degree and masters degree, or just evaluating my masters is enough?

2. I am currently not in Nigeria, is it possible to do this EE applicaiton from the UK? or do I have to come to do it from Nigeria? what would you advise?

Will really appreciate answers from personal or first-hand experience in my particular situations thanks.

Watch out for the next primary market offering, it is better for a newbie to start from there.
I am interested sir. I also wondered how 10m will result in 46m at 16.5% in 10years. I thought if you get 16.5% every year on your 10m, you'd have 1.65m annually and 16.5m accumulated after 10years if you add that to 10m that's 26.5m. How have I missed it, sir?

Also sir, how would i know when the next primary market offering is out? what do I need to track and how do I know if the rates are wise to invest in or not.

Thanks

My concern is my life, when am gone its over. I raised it on my own and expect my kids to do better because am giving them a better foundation. I owe my kids a good education to PhD in the best schools in the world. Their success is in their hands. My 1b will be left with instruction that will only enable them access the interest and not the capital. My grand children can't even touch it. Generally, I don't care what happens after am dead. My plan is to live a good second half of my life as growing up was hectic. Can't loss it on both halves of life.
This is an interesting perspective sir. I am just starting out. It's funny that I am saying this at almost 27..

I have ventured into quite a handful businesses in the past made some profit which I was relatively good at saving. Most of my business didn't survive infact some of them just took money from me without ever generating a revenue. I started investing (100k) in mutual funds in 2015. However, that money didn't really grow much apart from the accumulated interest. There were quite a few times I withdrew some of my capital from the mutual fund to cater for a few needs arising.

I am ashamed to admit that I did participate in these numerus ponzi schemes that came out en mass between 2016 and 2017. I managed to loose all my money (about 350k) to these schemes.

I feel like I got a clean state to start over as I recently relocated out of the country. I am looking to grow wealth and also to secure my future. I will love to have investments that will allow me retire from work at 50 and sufficient enough to leave for my grand children.

I will value any advice you have for me on this journey

Thank you

please I am expecting a mail in Nigeria from the UK. It was sent via Uk royal mail (international signed for) 5-7working days.

It was dispatched last Thursday and was said to be leaving the UK as at 7:54am uk time on friday. This was the last update on it from royal mail website. I have not recieved any update on it since then. I called UK royal mail and they said they don't have any more info as it has left the UK and that I should check Nigeria postal service's website. I have used the nipost website to track it but it has not worked. It says it can't find any information. Please can you help me check where it is at and what is going on? I really need the document as soon as possible.

All these pple with 5,000 naira (movie tickets and popcoorn for two) that want you to do calculations sef... grin I will try and explain and am in a very humorous mood so bear with me.

I think what you have done is about right, no matter how small your money is, you should do proper risk assessment and ask when in doubt (try not to overthink it though).

The rate (13.8%) changes from time to time, it could be 14%, it could 12%. However, it has not been lower than 10% in 3 years to my knowledge...

The rates are yearly rates but calculated on a daily basis but that does not mean you will get 13.8% every day or month. There is a calculation to convert those rates but lets not bother ourselves with that. Let us make a fair assumption that over the course of a year, the average yield for FBN MMF is 12%. It means you make 12% on your 5,000 in a year, or approx. 1% on your 5,000 every month and you can take it futher by saying you make approx. 0.033% per day if they use 30 days in a month or 0.022% per day if considering a 22 working days in a month.

Consequently, in a year you make 600 naira profit, a month you mke 50 naira (it is painful to go further on 5,000naira) but am sure you get the gist.

Yes, you can lose all if the Stock Exchange, Bonds market and the Federal Government collapses or the world ends. Thats seems fair I believe...lol. The company is backed up by FBN Holdings and regulated by SEC as mentioned by Ernie and they invest is bonds, equities and other securities so unless there is a catastrophy you are safe as far as loosing all is concerned...Can you lose some, possible but unlikely.

If the above seems complicated, scratch that...here is a summary

1. On your 5,000 you make about 50 naira every month
2. Your capital is secure, low risk of losing it
3. Start now and do not over think it

I bill my clients per hour and your bill for the above is 10,000 nairagrin
okay i think i get a clearer picture now if i'll be investing i definately won't invest just 5k i just thought 5k will make it easy to explain. you said it unlikely i loose a part of it my principal. i just wanna know how much "UNLIKELY" that is. if you don't mind you could use yourself as an example have you ever lost a part of your principal to MMF if Yes about how many percentage of your principal did you loose. thanks so much carpenter for your time and about your 10,000naira i'll put it in a MMF for your lol

U09ce: Unfortunately, CBN is not a law
enforcement institution; we left that in
the hands of the law enforcement
institutions and that has not kicked in.’’
I still go to parties and see people
spraying money, stepping on money, I see
touts distributing mint-fresh money that
should go to customers.’’
Lemo also told NAN that the CBN had
talked to the police to step up its
surveillance to reduce the abuse of the
naira adding that the bank had no right to
arrest people who sold the naira on the
streets.
can sum pls asking him what he does wen he sees the abuse of Naira happening? has he not heard dat we are all part of the surveillance of the police?...... we are their eyes where dey are not!! #askboston!

i think they need to tell us how much this will cost the country!!!! it seems to me like dere is a lot of 'embezzle-able' money in printing new notes dat was why wen #5000 note was rejected, polymer suddenly have disadvantages!!! smh
