Country Love: Stop Tearing Down & Start Building Up. By Ismaheel Taofeek We’re all familiar with the phrase “love it or leave it.” But how about this one? “Love it and build it.” It’s an idea we should all get behind, especially when it comes to our country. Whether you’re a patriot born and raised in the United States, a proud Canadian, or a British subject trying to keep calm despite Brexit, you can make a difference in your nation’s development by simply being an active citizen. Stop tearing down and start building up. That can mean anything from writing letters to your representatives or taking part in local initiatives like neighborhood cleanups. In this article, we’ll explore why loving your country is so important and the amazing power individuals have in nation building. The Role of Citizens in Nation Building As citizens, we can all play an important role in nation building. The most important thing we can do is to respect each other's different points of view and work together to build a better future. Instead of tearing down, we should be looking for ways to build up and make our society stronger. We can start by forming meaningful connections with others in our community and beyond. We can listen to their stories, share our own experiences, and get involved with local initiatives that build bridges instead of walls. We can also use our skills and knowledge to help those who are most vulnerable in need of assistance or mentorship. On top of that, we can promote civic engagement by encouraging everyone to vote in local elections and express themselves through public forums or campaigns for positive change. By being active participants in shaping our society’s future, we are doing everything we can to create a better future for generations to come. The Power of Selfless Service Do you want to be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem? Then it's time to stop tearing down your country and start building it up. Selfless service is the power that brings this about. When you serve your nation selflessly, you become a powerful force for good. You can create a safe and healthy environment for everyone to live in. You can mentor a young person or help those who are less fortunate than yourself. Not only will your effort benefit others, but it will help you reach your highest potential as well. Most importantly, selfless service allows citizens to be more engaged with the issues that matter most to their countrymen and women. People who give back do more than just benefit individuals in their communities—they also help promote a positive public discourse about important issues, like poverty and education reform. Simply put, when you replace hatred with love—when you take a vow to serve others—you become an agent of positive change in your community and nation at large. So don't just stand on the sidelines; take action! Change starts with a single step forward in selfless service to your nation. Principles to Live by for Nation Building If you're serious about nation building, there are three important principles to live by. Your country is like a puzzle that can be built up over time, and all of us have the power to contribute, if we work together. Listen before judgment It's essential to listen with an open mind before making judgements. Understand different points of view, weigh them up and focus on solutions. We need to have constructive debates and conversations, not ones that tear down our national unity. Respect differences Show respect for different opinions, beliefs and cultures. We don't all have to agree on the same thing—we can still learn and grow from a diversity of ideas and experiences. Embrace collaboration Collaboration is key if we're going to make changes for the betterment of our country. Find ways to work together with others who share your values and vision, so you can all join forces to create a brighter future for your nation as a whole. By committing to these three principles in your daily life, you can build up pride in yourself, your community, and your country—and ultimately help create a better world for everyone around you. Step Up, Speak Up & Stand for Your Community It's time to stop tearing down and start building up. We all have a responsibility to our communities and our countries, so take the chance to do your part. Step up, speak up, and stand for your community! Here are some ways you can do it: Stay Informed, Get Involved Staying informed on current events and developments affecting the nation gives you an idea of what issues to get involved in. Get involved in relevant conversations, meetings and initiatives that support nation building. Volunteer & Support Organizations Invest your time and resources in organizations that are actively helping build a better future for the country. Whether it's donating money or volunteering your time, every little bit helps bring positive change. Advocate for Change Raising awareness about important issues is key in making sure changes occur for the better. Speak out about causes you believe in so that others can join in too! Start a petition or protest peacefully – whatever it takes to make sure your voice is heard by those in power. By taking these steps to step up, speak up, and stand for your community, we can make a difference together towards nation-building – one of love and dedication! Simple Things Everyone Can Do for Nation Building You know what? As a citizen, there are simple everyday things that you and I can do to contribute to nation building. We don't need a lot of money, or power — but we do need the will and determination to make our country a better place. Education An educated and informed nation is key for sustainable growth and progress. We all have the ability to use our privilege of being educated to pass knowledge on to those who are not privileged in the same way, or who do not have the same access to education. Remove Negativity Negative attitudes put others down and make them feel discouraged about their country. Unfortunately, negative attitudes can quickly spread like wildfire. That's why it's important for us to be cognizant of how our words and thoughts impact others, and why we should stay away from speaking poorly about our nation publicly or online. Encourage Unity We can all come together under one banner regardless of where we come from or what our backgrounds are because we're all brought together by being citizens of this nation. It's important that we remember that united we build a stronger nation instead of tearing it apart. So make sure you emphasize unity in yourself, your family, friends and community at large. Show Appreciation Show your appreciation for the country by taking part in activities that benefit it— start an initiative in your city or volunteer with local organizations doing great work for society – get involved! Thanking those who serve the country is also important — whether that’s members of the military, teachers or fire fighters— show them your appreciation whenever you can! Taking Responsibility - From the Ground Up to the Top Down We all have to take responsibility when it comes to helping our countries reach their potential. That may mean doing the hard work of helping to build up institutions and making sure they are working properly, but it also means taking a long hard look at the ways we talk about our countries. One of the most important ways we can take responsibility is by being mindful of how we talk about our country. Instead of tearing it down and criticizing, why not focus on building it up? You might be surprised to see how speaking positively can make a difference in how you view things. Speak Up When you hear someone talking negatively about your country, don't be afraid to speak up and challenge them on their views. If we are more aware and engaged in the conversation, then we have a better chance at bringing people together for positive change. Embrace Constructive Criticism It's also important that we learn to embrace constructive criticism when it comes from respected sources. This can help us identify areas where there is room for improvement and inspire meaningful progress. Learn From Others Finally, we should learn from others who have taken a lead role in nation building in their own countries. We can draw inspiration from these models and use the best practices they've implemented in our own nations. Taking responsibility doesn't always come naturally, but if we all make an effort to build up instead of tear down, then we will be on the right track towards creating prosperous societies. Conclusion So next time you feel like tearing down your country, remember to take a pause and consider how you can build it up instead. We have a finite time on this earth, and it is best served by investing your energy into creating something lasting and meaningful. Build bridges, invest in relationships, and create something that can bring about real and lasting change. Let’s all strive to lift each other up, rather than tear each other down, in our efforts to make our country more prosperous and equitable. Do it for your own future, as well as for the future of your family and all your fellow citizens. Together, we can create a better tomorrow – one where our collective love of country unites us rather than divides us. |

The Dark Reality Behind True Federalism By Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa When you hear true federalism, you think of a utopian world where all voices are heard and decisions are made in a fair and equitable manner. But what if this Utopia isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? What if there’s a much darker side to true federalism that’s not being talked about? That’s exactly the topic of today’s article. We’ll be discussing the real issue behind true federalism – the struggles between regional and national governments, as well as what happens when economic disparities exist among different regions. We put our magnifying glass on the details of true federalism and expose its not-so-happy reality. Let’s dive in! Defining True Federalism True federalism is a system of government where power is divided between the federal and state governments. This allows each individual state to retain its autonomy and make decisions on important issues such as taxation, education, and healthcare. On the surface, this appears to be a great idea, but when you look beneath the surface, it becomes clear that there are some troubling realities. True federalism can lead to a disjointed system of policy making across states that can create discrepancies in civil rights protections and economic opportunities. For example, one state might have progressive laws related to reproductive rights while another might have very restrictive laws. Additionally, true federalism can lead to unequal access to resources such as quality health care due to unequal tax burden or funding for education. This means certain populations are at a disadvantage in terms of getting quality healthcare or education when compared to others. In short, true federalism may seem like an attractive prospect on the surface - but its consequences can be far more complex and far-reaching than we often realize. Pros and Cons of True Federalism True federalism is widely considered to be the ideal model for a country, as it essentially allows autonomous states to govern themselves with much less interference from the central government. However, like most things in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to implementing such a system. On the one hand, true federalism promotes local decision-making, giving citizens more of a say in how their own states are governed and allowing them to shape their states’ development paths accordingly. It also allows for greater economic and social stability, as different states can experiment with different policies and approaches independent of one another. But on the other hand, true federalism can also be seen as disruptive—especially when there are vast differences between neighboring states. This can lead to tension amongst the respective state governments and could cause a deterioration of human rights standards if certain states try to escape federal regulations that protect citizen rights. Ultimately, its pros and cons must be weighed carefully before deciding whether or not true federalism is the right fit for your country or region. Regional Power Dynamics in a Federal System True federalism puts the power in the hands of regional governments, but that's not always a good thing. Why? Because regional power dynamics can be problematic due to differences in wealth and population sizes. The fact is, a wealthy region might have an undue advantage over smaller or less-wealthy regions by having more resources at their disposal. This could lead to an uneven distribution of political power across the nation, ultimately creating an unbalanced playing field where some regions are favored over others. Another issue with regional power in a federal system is that larger regions might be able to dictate policy at the expense of smaller ones. This could give them too much control over the rest of the nation and create an imbalance between states that could eventually lead to major disagreements and even conflict. Finally, it’s important to note that regional power dynamics can create a rift between states as they compete for resources or try to exert influence on other states. This kind of competition can result in increased tensions and mistrust, making it difficult for states to work together towards goals beneficial for everyone. To ensure true federalism works effectively, it’s essential that governments take steps to regulate power dynamics among regions and ensure all states are treated fairly and equally. Devolution of Power to the States True federalism in the United States has a dark side: devolution of power to the states. Devolution means that power is transferred from the federal government to state governments, which means that state governments are responsible for major decisions and policy-making. That kind of decision-making power can lead to some ugly outcomes. For one, power can be abused by state governments, resulting in policies that unfairly favor certain groups over others or lead to unequal distribution of resources. Worse yet, granted power to states can lead to what is known as a "race to the bottom" in policy-making. This means that states seek to make their policies as lenient as possible so that businesses and people will flock there — leading to an overall decrease in quality across states. For example, some states have relaxed labor laws and lowered taxes in order to compete with other states for business investment. This creates an uneven playing field where workers can end up being exploited or not paid fair wages. It's important to remember that while true federalism may give more power and autonomy to state governments, it also presents serious risks if those powers are abused or ill-used. Unequal Distribution of Resources in a Federal System True federalism has an ugly side you should know about—unequal distribution of resources between states. Oftentimes, the richer states have more resources and access to power, leaving the poorer ones at a disadvantage. So what does this mean for you in practice? Power Dynamics Those with higher incomes are usually those with the most political sway. This means that the will of richer states can often outweigh those of poorer ones, pushing their agendas forward — potentially to the detriment of people at a lower economic level. Lack of Resources The lack of resources in poorer states also means that they may suffer in terms of quality public services and infrastructure, such as healthcare facilities and education systems. This is not only unfair, but can also prevent economic growth in these areas. A true federal system doesn't always guarantee equal resources for all—in fact, it can often result in an unfair concentration of power and money to the richest states, while leaving those less privileged in a weaker position. Increasing Risks of Civil Unrest in a Federal System True federalism is not without its downsides. One such risk is that of increased civil unrest and disorder when some states feel slighted or aggrieved. This can happen when certain states, who are in the minority, are not given enough power or when the needs of these states are ignored. In a system predicated on a strong central government, minority groups must necessarily be more vocal in order to be heard and to get their demands addressed. People living in states that do not receive sufficient resources or representation can start feeling like their voices will not be heard and this can lead to unrest and violence. This kind of civil unrest is often caused by economic volatility, unequal distribution of wealth and power, and other associated factors. When these kinds of feelings of resentment accumulates over time within a state, it can easily turn into mass protests which further threaten national security by destabilizing the country. The risk of these kinds of activities increase significantly as certain states come to feel increasingly as if their interests are being ignored by a federal system that does not listen to them properly or allocate resources fairly. Conclusion To conclude, true federalism has its benefits, but it also comes with a plethora of drawbacks when it comes to the national and regional interests. It can be used as a tool to centralize power, enrich the few, weaken the many, and even maintain social and economic inequality. Without a unified and common sense of national interest, true federalism can only create further divisions, instability, and chaos. True federalism should be embraced when it is used to decentralize power, encourage economic growth, empower the people, and foster a sense of national solidarity. It is not the solution to the nation's problems, but it can be an effective tool when used correctly. |
Unification, Youth Empowerment, and More: What Tinubu Must Take Seriously for APC to Remain in Power for 40 Years. BY Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa As the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has a vested interest in ensuring that his party remains in power for a very long time. To achieve this monumental goal, he must take certain factors into account. First and foremost, he must prioritize unification. He must bridge the current gaps between different groups, both within and outside of the APC, and promote a sense of shared identity and common purpose. Tinubu must ensure that all members of the APC remain loyal and on message. This can be achieved through inclusive policies that are tailored to meet the needs of all Nigerians. Next, Tinubu must focus on youth empowerment by providing young people with better education, career opportunities, and job opportunities. He should also promote social justice by fighting against corruption and rewarding hard work and dedication. Finally, Tinubu must practice moderation when it comes to using social media as a tool for political campaigning. It is important to use this platform constructively to educate citizens on various policies without making inflammatory statements or spreading false information. Unification in Nigeria to Secure APC's Power Base As a leader of one of the major political parties in Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) need to focus on unifying the country to remain in power for 40 years. This means avoiding extreme stances on social subjects and promoting discussion and dialog between different nations, ethnicities, and religions within Nigeria. Tinubu can also start by ensuring that each region of Nigeria is given fair representation in its administration and guaranteeing equal opportunities for all regions. He should be aware of the different nuances between different groupings and work towards addressing these through equal access to education, employment opportunities, and health services. Furthermore, ensuring fairness in government appointments will go a long way toward fostering a sense of unity among Nigerians. Ultimately, Tinubu must strive to create an environment where every Nigerian feels equally valued regardless of religion, ethnicity, or social economic status. By doing this his administration will be able to protect the APC power base and ensure that they remain in office for at least another 40 years. Empowering the Youth of Nigeria for a Brighter Future The youth constitute the most influential population group in Nigeria, and thus the need for their empowerment couldn’t be overstated. Investing in the youths’ education and health would yield great dividends for the nation. Tinubu should follow through on some of his campaign promises such as providing employment opportunities and fostering entrepreneurship among them. By doing so, they will become productive members of society who can contribute to economic growth, improved security, and national unity. Moreover, Tinubu should introduce programs to invest in technology and digital knowledge so that the youths can benefit from new opportunities involving Artificial Intelligence (AI). These programs should also include skill acquisition for job readiness. This would equip the youths with employable skills that will improve their livelihoods, give them more job opportunities, raise their incomes, and foster nationalism. Finally, Tinubu should introduce reforms to support youth-led initiatives such as stimulating youth political participation by creating an enabling environment for young people to express themselves and create meaningful impact in politics. This will help them discover their potential and unlock it for greater effectiveness and productivity in nation-building. Security, Fight Corruption, and Social Injustice Strategies On the security side, Tinubu needs to tackle the issue of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities. To do this, he needs to focus on strengthening law enforcement systems across the country, by increasing funding for police forces and improving their technology. This includes providing adequate training and equipment to help them in their fight against crime. Tinubu must also deploy a robust anti-corruption strategy that will lead to greater transparency and accountability in government processes. Moreover, Tinubu should look into strategies to tackle social injustice in Nigeria, such as addressing gender inequality and providing equal access to education and healthcare for all. He can achieve this by introducing measures such as affirmative action policies, gender-sensitive budgeting, increasing employment opportunities for those most at risk of discrimination, and having a zero-tolerance policy on all forms of prejudice. Moderation to the Use of Social Media and Political Platforms The prevalence of social media has changed the way politics works, with newer and more influential platforms now playing a large role in the political sphere. To ensure the success of his administration and that of APC for the next 40 years, Tinubu must master the art of using social media and other political platforms while remaining moderate in his approach. As a powerful tool, Tinubu should use social media, especially Twitter, to communicate his messages effectively, as well as to correct misinformation spread by detractors. He would also have to stay aware of what is trending among other political parties so that he can respond appropriately and counter false narratives being spread about his party. Additionally, Tinubu should communicate with members of his party regularly to convey information on activities, policy proposals, and other issues. Social media can also be used to gather feedback from citizens quickly and efficiently. This is an invaluable resource for any leader implementing effective policy changes. By understanding the power of social media communication, Tinubu would be able to build support for APC's platform across Nigeria and beyond its borders over the next 40 years. Setting Living Standards High Enough to Reduce Poverty and Improve Quality of Life For APC to remain in power for 40 years, Tinubu must take steps to set a high enough standard of living and quality of life that poverty is drastically reduced. This can be achieved in several viable and sustainable ways, such as: Investment in Education Investment in education is essential to enable young Nigerians to have access to better job opportunities and improved earning potential. This will enable them to contribute back to the Nigerian society and help to reduce poverty. Promotion of Financial Inclusion The promotion of financial inclusion and access to credit for individuals and small businesses could provide an additional pathway out of poverty. Micro-finance programs are being pursued by the government to expand financial services such as savings, payments, credit, insurance, and remittances for the poor. Improved Private Sector Opportunities Creating incentives for private businesses would attract more investors into Nigeria who could create employment opportunities and wealth within the economy. By providing an attractive economic environment for businesses, Tinubu could increase economic growth – reducing inequality in the country. To reduce poverty and improve the quality of life in Nigeria. This is especially important given the fact that 63% of Nigerians live below the poverty line. The following actions must be taken, to affect this change: Increasing access to healthcare and comprehensive social protection for citizens, including health insurance, pensions, and unemployment benefits. Establishing free, high-quality education in communities throughout Nigeria, from primary to tertiary level Investing in infrastructure and technology to expand access to essential services such as clean water and sanitation Strengthening social safety nets for vulnerable populations such as women, youth, and persons with disabilities Facilitating economic growth through structural reforms such as reform of land rights and taxation Improving agricultural production through a combination of agronomic practices and innovation Reducing inequality by ensuring equal access to employment opportunities or income-generating activities Reconciliation With Political Rivals: The Key to Longterm Power An important element of ensuring Tinubu's ability to make APC remain in power for 40 years is the reconciliation and cooperation with rivals of the same party - something that he must take seriously and act on soon. This concept of cohesion is central to the idea of unification, as it would go a long way toward making APC one strengthened, unified political party. Furthermore, Tinubu can use reconciliation as a tool to address the growing tensions among youth, giving them something to rally behind and invest their energy into. This can also create an atmosphere where different voices can be heard in policymaking by showing them that differences of opinion are not just accepted but appreciated. Finally, unity within a party will be beneficial in creating an atmosphere for fighting corruption and social injustice-- two elements that are all too common in Nigerian governments. With enemies becoming allies due to unification, all members of APC will likely become more aware and proactive in their fight against corruption and injustice, ultimately leading to a government that is accountable to its people and serves their needs annually. Conclusion As the nation faces the challenge of moving forward under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, Tinubu must take the four areas mentioned in this article-- unification, youth empowerment, security, fight against corruption and social injustices, and moderation to the use of social media--seriously. He needs to prioritize these four areas to ensure that the APC remains in power for an additional 40 years. Doing so will not only extend the party's power and influence but will also ensure greater unity and order in Nigeria. |
An Open Letter to Peter Obi: Seeking Forgiveness From the Nigerian Youth and Retiring From His Political Career Dear Peter Obi, Like many Nigerians, I was inspired by your skillful and demonstrated leadership capabilities. However, it's with a heavy heart that I write this letter to you today—I must question the tactics and strategies you have employed in the past couple of months during your latest political campaigns. It is undeniable that your rhetoric has been extremely divisive and fuelled by ethnic bigotry among the youth and religious people. Your brand of politics has only served to fuel disunity across Nigeria. Sadly, this strategy has taken a toll on the Nigerian youth, who have become even more divided, confused, and alienated than before. Thus, as a responsible public office seeker, I urge you to take a step back from fighting a lost battle and seek forgiveness from the Nigerian youth. I hope that you will realize that your divisive strategy of politics should not stand any longer. Instead of playing politics on ethnic lines and preaching disunity, why not communicate hope for unity? I implore you to retire from politics with immediate effect so that your legacy can remain untainted and more importantly—secure future generations of Nigerians from a further decline in moral values. Yours sincerely, Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa |
The Damage Done: How Peter Obi's Political Strategies of Bigotry and Disunity Have Affected the Nigerian Youth and how he Can Rebuild Trust by Repenting and Retiring. BY Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa Have you ever had an unpleasant experience with a politician? Most of us have, but few of us have paid close attention to the effects of our actions. If you're paying attention to Nigeria's political situation, you've likely heard about Peter Obi Presidential candidate of the Labor Party (Elluuupi75). For those who don't know, Peter Obi has a long history of using divide-and-conquer tactics. In his speeches, he aligned the Igbo people while creating friction between religions and tribes. This has caused much discomfort in Nigeria and made Obi unpopular among the youth. His divisive strategies remain one of Nigeria's biggest problems—especially among its younger generations—and it's high time that Obi seeks forgiveness and retires from his political career. In this article, I'll discuss how Peter Obi's bigoted strategies have caused disunity and affected young Nigerians negatively. Introduction to Peter Obi's Political Career Peter Obi is a Nigerian politician who has a long and established career in politics, stretching from his early days as governor of Anambra state to most recently running for the presidential seat. However, his political strategies have come under fire for promoting disunity and religious bigotry among Nigeria's youth—all to advance his political career. This article is an exploration of the damage done by Peter Obi's divisive strategies and why he should seek forgiveness from the Nigerian people and retire from politics altogether. I will look at how his tactics have negatively impacted the youth, what steps can be taken to repair this damage, and how those in power must be held accountable for their actions. The Problems With Obi's Political Strategies of Bigotry and Disunity The consequences of Peter Obi’s political strategies of bigotry and disunity are deeply felt in today's Nigeria. By playing to the fears and prejudices of Nigerians, Obi helped perpetuate tribalism and hatred amongst young people, even creating divides between different religious groups. His speeches have been full of inflammatory language, which has further poisoned the atmosphere and pushed our nation into a darker place. It has been estimated that over two million youths were directly affected by the division caused by Peter Obi's tactics. Young people have had their lives disrupted and their dreams crushed, as opportunities for employment, education, and improvement are limited in an environment of fear, prejudice, and division. This has had a lasting impact on the well-being of our nation’s youth—not just mentally but also financially. Peter Obi should ask for forgiveness from the Nigerian people—especially the youth—not only for his divisive political strategies but also for his failure to recognize the damage it has done to our country’s reputation both at home and abroad. He needs to retire from Nigerian politics and yield his candidacy as a sign of genuine repentance. Only then can we start on the path toward reuniting our nation. How Bigotry and Disunity Have Affected the Nigerian Youth It's no secret that Peter Obi has used bigotry and disunity to push his political agenda. From his inflammatory rhetoric to his rigid, uncompromising stances on divisive issues, it's clear that he has put short-term success ahead of what is best for Nigeria. Unfortunately, this strategy has had far-reaching consequences for the Nigerian youth. Mental health The researchers in the recent study found that the ongoing tension between Nigeria’s different ethnic and religious groups has caused significant changes in how youth view each other, leading to increased feelings of mistrust and anger. This can have a profound effect on mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, and difficulty concentrating. Academic performance Another issue is that this type of division can cause a drop in academic performance among Nigerian youth. When they feel threatened or unsupported by their peers and communities, they are often unable to focus on their studies and are less likely to strive for excellence in school or college. The bottom line is that Peter Obi’s political strategies of division and hatred have had a significant negative impact on young lives throughout Nigeria. It is time for him to seek forgiveness from the Nigerian youth and retire from active politics before even further damage is done. Obi's Apologies and What It Means for His Political Career It is clear that Peter Obi needs to apologize, but that doesn't necessarily mean his political career has to end. On the contrary, it could open a new chapter of redemption. A sincere apology could help him regain his credibility and start anew. Showing Intentional Change An apology isn’t enough on its own; Obi needs to also show intentional change - preferably one that goes beyond words and empowers Nigerian youth and religious people affected by his strategies of bigotry. Making Amends To make amends, Obi can use his platform to advocate for equality, justice, and inclusion. He could also take tangible actions such as offering scholarships or resources to those affected by the divisions he has created. He can do what it takes to bring the youth together by hosting events, organizing rallies or marches with messages of unity, or doing whatever else he can think of - anything that demonstrates an authentic commitment from him towards peacebuilding. By showing intentional change, making amends, and committing himself to peace-building instead of division, Peter Obi could rebuild trust and prove that he is a leader worth following. He has an opportunity here to make things right - not just for himself, but for all the Nigerian people who have been hurt by his divisive tactics; if he does this well enough, he may yet have a place in Nigeria's political future. How Nigeria Can Move Forward From the Damage Done by Obi's Political Strategies The damage done by Peter Obi's political strategies of bigotry and disunity is not something that can be fixed overnight. It has taken away the sense of unity that was shared by the Nigerian youth and further divided them along ethnic and religious lines. For Nigeria to move forward and heal from this division, Obi must first seek forgiveness from the Nigerian people and retire from his political career. Obi should also make a sincere effort to undo the harm he has caused by actively working towards bridging the gap between different ethnic and religious groups, as well as seeking out the mutual understanding between them. This would include: Holding open dialogs and negotiations between different groups Participating in peace-building initiatives Encouraging collaboration between diverse groups Encouraging youth participation in politics Offering support for local education initiatives can help bridge cultural divides. If Obi is willing to make these efforts, it could help bring about a sense of unity that had previously been fractured by his divisive political strategies. By taking these steps, Nigeria can eventually find healing and move forward toward a brighter future. Yours sincerely, Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa Conclusion It is time for Peter Obi to accept the damage he has done, apologize and own his mistakes, and focus on retirement rather than fighting a lost battle. His actions and statements have not only caused disunity and mistrust among Nigerian youth but have also weakened the democratic system in the country. As much as it is important to elect a capable leader, it is likewise important to choose a leader who will bring together the people rather than tear them apart. Peter Obi has caused too much damage to the Nigerian youth and it is wise for him to take responsibility for that, and step down rather than trying to attain power by all means. Naira20:You better start living with the reality that asiwaju is your new president and move on |
LETTER TO ASIWAJU AND HIS SUPPORTERS By Mayowa Lala First of all, it will be appropriate for me to introduce myself as a staunch supporter of Asiwaju and I am glad that he won the previously concluded presidential election. It is also noteworthy to remind you that I am not just a regular type of supporter. I don't support people blindly for the sake of self-interest or whatever, but I support people who have substantial track records of successful ventures. Achievement of tangible results is what made Asiwaju to win my heart. INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH In his RENEWED HOPE manifesto, Asiwaju talked extensively about infrastructures. We know that more than 90% of our economic activities in this country are run by private enterprises. But transportation, electricity and broadband infrastructures are majorly affecting these private enterprises. Therefore, we need to get serious on this. You have reiterated in your manifesto that you will partner with the private sector to build these major infrastructures instead of totally leaving the task in the hands of the public sector. I think this is commendable. The private sector had proven to be better manager of funds than the public sector as we've seen in various cases in recent years. There are local private funds that can get involved in financing infrastructural development even if they have to blend up with some international funds. If there is any need to take a credit facility to facilitate these infrastructural developments forthwith, we are better off obtaining such funds in local currency. It has been discovered that the financing of infrastructural development with foreign currencies will further impoverish a country. Why? When infrastructures that do not generate foreign currencies as revenues like airports and seaports are financed with foreign currencies, but you are obliged to pay back the credit by converting your local currency(which is less inflation-proof) to the foreign currency(which is more inflation-proof), who is gaining and who is losing here? Therefore, we think most infrastructures that generate local currencies should be financed with local currencies. We must be careful with the credit facilities we obtain for infrastructural development. FRUGALITY, FRUGALITY, FRUGALITY I heard with one ear that you, Asiwaju want to cut off fuel subsidy and channel the funds more into education, health and security. Way to go, sir. Continue by cutting useless expenditures from government spending. Delay gratification for political office holders. Moreover, this is all about service to our Fatherland. Stop buying SUVs for all these Babariga wearing lawmakers. Where is the spirit of patriotism and service in all of these bogus allowances apportioned to these lawmakers when most of them can’t engage themselves with intellectual rigor? We have been asking for the rationale behind the setting up of this bicameral legislative system. We know that it is easier, less costly and less cumbersome to manage a unicameral legislature. Is this bicameral legislative system not wasteful? Track government spending to the last kobo. We need stricter policies on government spending. Frugality, frugality and frugality. THE DANGERS OF SYCOPHANCY Asiwaju followers must sit tight and start asking Asiwaju a lot of questions. You cannot afford to be sycophantic supporters. And I hope Asiwaju himself will be wary of excessive praise singers, it is such praise singers that get the leaders to become irresponsibly egoistic and far removed from reality. There is a high tendency for most people to obsequiously continue their adulation of Asiwaju for selfish gains. Naturally, humans are more likely to suckle up to their rich or highly placed principals. But as much as respect is morally correct, we know that sycophancy is dangerous for any leader in any sector of life. The higher an individual climbs up the social ladder, the lesser people such individual will find to confront them with honest feedbacks. People will naturally make it seem as if Oga or Baba can never be wrong, and Oga will unconsciously, but gradually dissociate himself from reality and start performing abysmally. I do not want to belong such class of sycophantic followers and at this point where we need thoughtful leaders, we can’t afford to be such followers. We need to engage Tinubu productively if we have trusted him to be our leader. But I also know that there is a margin between disrespectful throw of banters and constructive engagement with a leader, and therefore we must be guided. We cannot afford to be a horde of illogical and headless bunch of locusts when presenting our points of dissension. Thank you. Exploring the possibilities: Using Technology Investment for Nigeria’s Economic Recovery BY Ismaheel Taofeeq Adisa Introduction The Nigerian economy is at a crossroads. On one hand, there are signs of growth, as the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown in recent years. On the other hand, there are lingering economic and social inequalities that remain deeply rooted in the country. It’s clear that something needs to be done to restore economic stability. But what? How can Nigeria create sustainable economic growth? One way may be by investing in technology. In this article, I will dive into why technology investments present an opportunity for Nigeria's economic recovery and how such investments can provide tangible benefits for people across the nation. I will explore the possibilities of technological advancements like artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), as well as potential risks associated with such investments. Understanding Nigeria's Economy and the Need for Recovery Nigeria is a nation with massive potential, but the current economic situation has been stunted due to a number of factors. These include financial mismanagement, the lack of infrastructure for businesses, and a high unemployment rate. To help build the economy and bring it back to its fullest potential, Nigeria needs to invest in technology that can jumpstart business initiatives, create jobs, and strengthen the nation's global competitiveness. Investing in technology is an ideal way to do this as it can offer solutions that are cost-effective while also allowing companies and individuals to be more productive. By investing in the right technologies, Nigeria can increase productivity while also creating new opportunities that will help create jobs and increase economic growth. Additionally, new technologies will provide access to up-to-date information on global trends that can influence decision-making in Nigeria’s business sector. Through increased access to digital resources, businesses can become more competitive by exploring new technologies and developing innovative solutions for their problems. As more people gain access to technology, they can become part of a larger network that can help drive economic growth throughout Nigeria. Technology investment is truly one of the best ways for Nigeria to bring about its economic recovery, so exploring these possibilities is key. The Benefits of Investing in Technology Making investments in technology is a practical and sensible way to contribute to Nigeria's economic recovery. According to recent reports, countries that have invested in technological infrastructure have seen quicker rising incomes, increased productivity and competitiveness, and access to new markets. Such investments can not only lead to a more efficient use of resources and improved business operations but can also help create new jobs, stimulate economic growth, reduce poverty and inequality, and improve the country's overall standard of living. By investing in technology, Nigeria will be better positioned to confront the challenges of an increasingly digital economy. For example, adopting information-ready digital services such as online banking and online stores could increase the efficiency of financial transactions and make business transactions smoother for both customers and businesses. Similarly, investing in blockchain technology could help facilitate secure data exchange as well as fast transfers of digital money across borders with minimal costs or delays. Ultimately, investing in technology is a great opportunity for Nigeria's economic recovery. It can create new revenue streams for businesses as well as open up access to new markets. Plus, it can help build an environment of digital trust that encourages innovation and collaboration amongst the country's citizens. Challenges in Implementing Technology Investment in Nigeria You might not know it, but there are a few challenges to investing in technology for Nigeria's economic recovery. Here are a few of the most significant ones: Cost of Accessing and Implementing Technology The cost of acquiring and implementing technology, particularly advanced technology, is usually quite high and could be a barrier to just starting out. This cost could include the set-up cost of the hardware and software needed, as well as maintenance costs associated with that hardware and software. This can be an especially difficult challenge for smaller businesses who do not have big budgets to allocate resources for technology investments. Limited Infrastructure The lack of reliable infrastructure in some parts of Nigeria can also be an obstacle when it comes to investing in technology. This can include lack of access to power sources or internet, which could inhibit the success of some technological investments as they may be useless without either one or both. Lack of Skilled IT Professionals The lack of skilled IT professionals in Nigeria is another challenge when it comes to investing in technology; companies often struggle to find qualified personnel who can effectively manage their IT investments and keep them up-to-date with current technologies. This can lead to companies having difficulties getting the most out of their technological investments or having difficulty training employees on how to properly use those technologies. Potential Solutions to Facilitate Investment in Tech When it comes to solutions for Nigeria's economic recovery, investing in technology is one of the top contenders. Technology is one of the most important and powerful tools in this day and age, and can be applied to a wide range of solutions. It can drive innovation and create opportunities for businesses, help governments make more informed decisions, and provide individuals with access to improved services. By investing in technological solutions, Nigeria can stimulate its economy by: Utilizing automation to drive efficiency: Automation technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence reduce manual labor costs, increase process accuracy and speed up production output. Investing in startups: Local startups can create job opportunities, facilitate the growth of local businesses, and encourage foreign investments into the country. Investing in education: A highly educated workforce is essential for any successful economy. By investing in educational initiatives such as coding boot camps, universities or tech incubators, Nigerian leaders can ensure that the local population has adequate skillsets to enable them to take advantage of new technologies. Promoting innovation: Nigeria should focus on promoting innovative research and development initiatives as well as encouraging entrepreneurs to come up with new ideas that can help solve existing problems and bring positive outcomes. By investing in these technology solutions now, Nigeria will be well-prepared to capitalize on future opportunities. With an educated workforce, innovative solutions and a thriving startup culture backed by sustainable investment strategies, Nigeria's economic future looks bright indeed! Areas of Focus for Technology Investment in Nigeria Technology investment can be a powerful tool for Nigeria's economic recovery. But, where exactly should the technology investment focus? Here are a few areas that could really benefit from tech investment: Digital Infrastructure Nigeria needs to develop and modernize its digital infrastructure in order to attract global investments and create jobs. In order for this to happen, the country needs better access to high-speed internet, which can be provided through investments in 5G networks and fiber-optic cables. Additionally, Nigeria needs to invest in digital literacy programs for citizens who do not yet have the skills needed to operate in a digital economy. Cyber Security With increased access to technology comes an increased need for cyber security. Cyber-attacks have become increasingly more common in the digital age, putting large amounts of sensitive data at risk. Investment in cyber security technologies would ensure that data remains safe from external threats and help keep personal and financial information secure. Renewable Energy Investment in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectricity could help power Nigeria’s economy with clean energy sources. This could increase energy efficiency and reduce pollution while simultaneously creating new jobs within the renewable energy sector. By investing in these areas of technology, Nigeria can make strides towards becoming a leader in the global economy while also reducing its environmental impact. Success Stories of Technology Investment in Nigeria Technology investment can be seen as a way to achieve significant economic growth in Nigeria and spark a period of recovery. In recent years, The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have been advocating for increased focus on technology-driven investments in the African economy to drive tremendous economic inequalities, improved living standards and aid in foreign exchange earnings. Here's some success stories of tech-influenced investment in Nigeria. Fintech: Nigeria is leading the charge on fintech with massive improvements to its online banking infrastructure, driving penetration of mobile money access points from 23 million people in 2012 to over 193 million by September 2019. This has enabled wider access to financial services for more people across the country, which supports both economic growth and financial inclusion. Telecoms: The Nigerian telecom sector has an estimate market value at US$20 billion, making it one of the largest markets in Africa. With increased investment into this sector, it has become one of the most competitive regions in Africa, with more than 23 operators providing services across the country resulting into improved connectivity and internet access-including areas that still lack basic infrastructure such as roads or electricity lines- creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs alike. Agriculture: Technologies like mobile tools, cloud computing, digital packaging, big data and analytics have transformed agriculture into a data-driven industry. Providers are using this technology to accelerate agricultural production by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into farming processes from planting crops to shipping and distribution- enabling farmers to optimize their output efficiently at lower costs, which ultimately is good for Nigeria’s economic development. Conclusion Boko Haram and other security threats have caused significant disruption to the Nigerian economy in recent years. However, the country can still take advantage of its abundant natural resources, vibrant labor force, and adventurous spirit to capitalize on the incredible potential that technology investment presents. Nigeria must prioritize investment in technology, such as renewable energy sources and digital infrastructure, in order to prevent its economic fragility. The country’s entrepreneurial spirit and resourcefulness create a platform to build upon when it comes to the application of technology. This can serve as a catalyst for economic growth and Nigeria’s development, as the country moves away from its reliance on oil and gas and into a new era of abundance. Investing in technology has the potential to provide both short-term and long-term solutions to Nigeria's economic woes. |
