Health / What Skin Type Are You? Everything You Need To Know About Your Personal Facial C by Purposeciti: 11:45am On Feb 09
WHAT SKIN TYPE ARE YOU? EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL FACIAL CARE

Combination skin or dry skin? Normal, blemished or sensitive skin? Every skin type has different characteristics. You’ll find all the important information to allow you to find out your skin type here.

COMBINATION SKIN
SKIN TYPE 1:

COMBINATION SKIN
Combination skin takes its name from the fact that it is a combination of two skin types: normal to dry skin and oily, blemished skin.

Combination skin shines and tends to develop small blemishes – especially in the so-called

T-zone between the forehead, nose and chin. By contrast, the cheek area is normal to dry. Choose a care product that is specifically tailored to your skin type, in order to promote the restoration of the skin’s own moisture balance.

This is what combination skin is like:

oily shine, tends to develop impurities in the T-zone, the cheek area is more dry

YOUR T-ZONE NEEDS EXTRA ATTENTION
TIPS FOR COMBINATION SKIN

- Cleanse your skin thoroughly before applying facial care products.
- Use lukewarm water instead of hot or ice-cold water.
- Regularly use a moisturiser – a hazelnut-sized amount is enough!
- Choose a product that is especially suited to combination skin.

DRY SKIN
SKIN TYPE 2: DRY SKIN
Does your skin look rough and flaky? Dry skin lacks moisture and lipids – i.e. fats. It is therefore less elastic, it is tight and, in many cases, tends to itch. It reacts to environmental influences in particular by becoming irritated. With special care creams, you can restore its moisture stores and strengthen your skin’s protective barriers.

This is what dry skin is like:

tight and tends to itch rough and flaky appearance, reacts quickly to external influences such as temperature

YOUR SKIN’S MOISTURE BALANCE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT

TIPS FOR DRY SKIN
- You can help your skin from within by having a healthy diet. Drink 2 litres of still water every day.
Day creams with sun protection factor protect your skin from UV radiation.

- A serum is a perfect addition to your moisturising care.
Care products with natural oils relax your skin.

NORMAL SKIN
SKIN TYPE 3: NORMAL SKIN
Supple and soft, fine-pored and a rosy complexion

If that’s what you see when you look in the mirror, then you have normal skin. Even committing occasional beauty crimes won’t do it too much harm. But to keep its healthy appearance, even normal skin needs moisture and protection. Develop your personal care routine!

This is what normal skin is like:

soft, fine-pored, unproblematic, rosy complexion, well circulated and elastic

YOUR SKIN LIKES ROUTINE

TIPS FOR NORMAL SKIN
- Regular day and night care keeps your skin fresh.
- Gentle exfoliation removes impurities and dead skin cells.
- By gently massaging in your face cream, you will also boost your circulation.
- Eye care: beautiful eyes will make your whole face sparkle.

BLEMISHED SKIN
SKIN TYPE 4:

Blemished skin tends to produce more sebum than necessary. A genetic predisposition, stress and hormonal fluctuations are responsible for this. The result: blackheads and spots appear. With special, antibacterial cleansing and care products, you can restore your skin’s natural balance.

This is what blemished skin is like:

large-pored, shiny, tends to develop impurities

WILD TIMES: MILD CARE
TIPS FOR BLEMISHED SKIN

- It’s essential that you remove your make-up in the evening, as it can block your pores overnight.
- Treat your skin to a gentle scrub and a face mask once a week.
Hands off: do not squeeze blackheads or spots!
- A matting day cream will reduce the unsightly shine on your face.

SENSITIVE SKIN
SKIN TYPE 5: SENSITIVE SKIN
Sensitive skin reacts more to external influences such as stress, dry air from heating systems or UV light. If the skin is thrown out of balance, it feels tight, itchy and dry and develops redness. Sensitive skin therefore requires extra special care to calm it and strengthen its barriers at the same time, thus making it more resistant.

This is what sensitive skin is like:

Sensitive to environmental influences, tight and itchy, often red

AN IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT FOR SENSITIVE SKIN IS REST!
TIPS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
- Choose a cream that provides protection against harmful environmental influences.
- Gently dab your face with a towel after cleansing it rather than rubbing it vigorously.
- Choose perfume-free products: fragrances can cause skin irritation.
Pay attention to your diet – hot spices are not good for your skin.

MATURE SKIN
SKIN TYPE 6: MATURE SKIN
As we grow older, lots of different processes take place in the skin that change its appearance, structure and the activities it performs. This includes reduced cell activity, slower regeneration, lower collagen production or damage caused by UV radiation. Mature skin lacks moisture and elasticity. But with innovative care products, you can reduce lines, wrinkles and pigment spots.

This is what mature skin is like:

less elastic, lacks moisture lines, wrinkles or pigment spots are visible

MATURE SKIN NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!
TIPS FOR MATURE SKIN

- Make sure you use enough sun protection: too much UV radiation makes your skin age prematurely.
- Use a special eye care cream: expression lines around the eyes are the first to appear.
- Moisturising masks with high-quality oils nurture your skin.
- Choose creams which support cell regeneration in your skin.
Health / Do's And Don'ts Of Face Care by Purposeciti: 11:14am On Feb 09
DO'S AND DON'TS OF FACE CARE

A good skincare routine doesn’t just help you get rid of, and prevent skin problems, it also helps your skin stay youthful and glowing. Here are some important do's and don’ts of face care.

WHAT TO DO

DO Eat Healthy Food

Great skincare starts with what food you eat. If you love junk food, consume a lot of alcohol, caffeine, and even smoke, getting perfect skin will always seem like a long distant dream and will be almost impossible to achieve. Eat foods rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, E, A and beta carotene.

DO Stay Moisturized

Moisturizing is one of the most important parts to include in your face routine, as it helps combat several different skin concerns down the road. Things like overnight moisturizers will ensure that your skin stays consistently hydrated.

DO Get enough sleep

It’s no secret that 7-8 hours of sleep is ideal. There’s a reason why they call it beauty sleep! Every single cell in your body requires sleep to repair themselves from any damage encountered during the day.

DO Double cleanse

You may think that one wash will get every trace of dirt and makeup off your face, but that’s not the case. You really need a double cleanse to fully get everything off.

DO exfoliate once a week

It unclogs pores, helps prevent blackheads and removes dead skin cells for fresh, radiant skin.

DO Drink Plenty of Water

Your skin is one of the largest organs which technically covers your entire body. That means a dehydrated body will result in a dehydrated skin. Therefore, it is essential for a person to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. This will maintain a healthy complexion of your skin and flush out unwanted toxins from your body.

DON'T DO THESE

DO NOT use ordinary soap to wash your face as it is too harsh for the skin on your face which is more sensitive than your body skin.

DO NOT apply Body creams on your face. Body creams and lotions are a lot thicker and typically contain fragrances that might irritate your facial skin. You should use face moisturizers that are gentler and more delicate.

DO NOT pop/pick pimples or blemishes. By popping the pimple, the bacteria in the pimple could spread to the rest of your face causing more pimples.

DO NOT go bed with make-up. Make-up collects dirt through-out the day therefore your skin will absorb the dirt which could cause pimples and blemishes. Cleanse your face before you sleep.

Do not step out without sunscreen protection. It is recommended to wear sunscreen, even if dark skinned as it protects your skin from sun burns and premature ageing.
DO NOT touch your face without washing your hands. Our hands collect so much dirt form all the things that we touch therefore we would transfer the dirt to our face which causes blemishes and pimples

DO NOT over wash your face too often. only wash your face twice a day. Washing your face too often can cause irritation, tightness or dryness thus stripping moisture from your skin.

DO NOT wash your face with excessively hot water as it strips natural oils from your skin thus causing dryness.

DO NOT use body exfoliators/scrubs on your face. Body scrubs often have hard beads and strong fragrances which are too harsh for your face especially around your eyes and lips that are knows to the most sensitive part of your face.

DO NOT rub-to dry. Instead pat to dry. Rubbing is harsh for your facial skin which is sensitive Use a soft cotton towel and remember to be soft and gentle.

Career / The Cost Of Decisions by Purposeciti: 2:13pm On Aug 20, 2023
The Cost of Decisions

By Mayowa Lala

Earlier, I said you should stop being soft with how you allow people to set their decisions or agenda in your life. If you esteem your life to be precious, you will embrace your freedom to choose what to invest your life and time upon. You don’t have to make many decisions. Peter Drucker once said “good decision makers don’t make many decisions.” I also heard Jeff Bezos, who is unarguably one the most successful men of our time, when he talked about the number of key decisions he likes to take daily, Jeff said he is okay with three decisions. Warren Buffet is another astute man, who is the smartest and most successful investor of our time. Warren once said he is okay with three smart decisions in a year.

The reason why we take our time to study people, books, opportunities, real life events… is because we want to make very quality decisions. A single wrong decision taken on a delicate life matter can wipe you out completely, and you may not be able to recover throughout your lifetime except you are lucky to have a great help. On the other hand, a few smart decisions can also change your entire life. Every decision you make will cost you resources such as time, money, energy, brainpower, attention, social capital etc…

Every decision need action or else the decision remains a fantasy. Action demands that resources must be expended. Action cost resources, and resources are limited and scarce. An ‘opportunity cost’ is going on here. Therefore we should take the position of an investment manager in our lives, to manage the deposit of GRACE OF TIME AND LIFE that the ALMIGHTY has bestowed upon us. We must make the best use of resources by making smart decisions. Our resources must be expended on worthwhile decisions only. Even if the decision we have to make is one, then we need our decisions to be a very smart decisions. We need to make informed decisions. We don’t need to rush. And so, we will say a lot of NOs to people.

Peter Drucker once cited the case of surgeons who are well known to have taken thousands of risky decisions over many centuries. And they have learned to apply rules to their decision making process. Situations that are not critical and self-correcting are left to occasional check-ups. Such situations are not worth taking life-risking operation upon. Such cases do not require urgent decisions. On the other hand, there are situations that are critical, life-threatening and they are not self-correcting. Such situations require decisions to be made – a fast and drastic decision for that matter.
Unnecessary decisions not only waste time and resources, they threaten to make other decisions ineffectual. – Peter Drucker

What are we learning? We are learning about decisions and the cost of decisions. Make quality decision, friends, because our entire life results are going to be the sum of all the decisions that we make.
