I thought one fake news said the police has cleared him of rape allegation. Nigerian media are low level, everyone is trying to outdo each other. They so lazy to verify news, all they do is go on social media and then start pasting gossips and fabricated news.

These fake media saying Govt will be charging VAT on transfers, meanwhile, it's a big lie. VAT is only applicable on charges.

Yahaya Bello's prosecution is still ongoing, the news of EFCC bringing more evidence to the court during prosecution made the frontpage but many fake radio and TV stations were lying that Yahaya Bello has been let go and EFCC was watching him go freely. I'm just tired of these accidental journalism in Nigeria. Many of your presenters are ignorant and mentally lazy to fact check rumour mills.

Just identify the opposition political party you belong to and stop lying to us you're a neutral news media. Brown envelope media everywhere.

Stop attacking fans, attack yourselves on the pitch, break each other's legs on the pitch. That's what makes football sweet, especially a derby match. Remo vs Ikorodu have started a rivalry that will last forever in Nigeria football. NPFL should market it and use it to cash out.

You people that are supporting the insulting governance of this administration should continue. Your children will bite their fingers in the country that you are creating for them.

Bola Tinubu is giving Tetfund N6B "intervention fund" in 2026 and yet PMB gave N320B in "intervention fund" in 2023.

Just wait...your generations to come will pepper in the country you have created for them. You all must surely reap whatever you sow.
Since you brought up Buhari, so let's compare..

This was under Buhari: they were paid in millions each:

I added a link from NUC website to back it up.

The Federal Government last Monday, 10 May, 2022, commenced the disbursement of 2022 direct intervention funds to Public Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education (COEs), with each of the universities allocated N642, 848, 138.00k, each of the polytechnics N396, 780, 086.00k and N447, 758,804.00k to each of the COEs.
https://www.nuc.edu.ng/fg-disburses-2022-intervention-to-public-varsities-others/

For Tinubu, compare to how much each institution is collecting: they're being paid in billions each

Each university would receive a total of ₦2,525,932,228.02, while polytechnics would receive ₦1,871,059,920.53 each, and colleges of education would get ₦2,056,527,973.04 each

PoliticsFG Confers National Honours On Fallen Hero Uba, Serving Soldiers by Putindbutt(op): 5:26pm On Jan 15
The Federal Government has conferred national honours on serving personnel and veterans of the Nigerian Army, including a brigadier general killed by terrorists in Borno State, in recognition of gallantry, sacrifice, leadership and service to the nation.

The awards were presented at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Gala Night held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, on Tuesday.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Army spokesperson, Col. Appolonia Anele.

Anele said Brigadier General Musa Uba was honoured with the Gallantry Award for displaying exceptional courage and leading troops from the front during counter-insurgency operations in Borno State.

Uba was killed after terrorists ambushed troops along the Damboa Road axis near Wajiroko in November 2025 while they were transporting military equipment.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, received the Service and Sacrifice Award.

“The Federal Government has conferred various honours on serving personnel and veterans of the Nigerian Army in recognition of gallantry, sacrifice, innovation, exemplary leadership and post-service contributions to national development.

“Among the recipients was the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who received the Service and Sacrifice Award for exemplifying selfless service and providing decisive leadership in counter-insurgency and internal security operations across multiple theatres.

“Other recipients of the Service and Sacrifice Award include Major General Abdulsalami Enesi Abubakar, Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI and Major General Faruk Mijinyawa, former General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Lagos, for their exceptional operational leadership and dedication to duty.

“Brigadier General Musa Uba was honoured with the Gallantry Award for displaying exceptional courage and leading troops from the front during counter-insurgency operations in Borno State, while Brigadier General Usman Ahmad received the Mission Success Award for his critical role in repelling repeated terrorist attacks and sustaining operational effectiveness under intense pressure, ” the statement partly read.

Other recipients of the Service and Sacrifice Award were Major General Abdulsalami Enesi Abubakar, Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, and Major General Faruk Mijinyawa, former General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Lagos, for operational leadership and dedication to duty.

Brigadier General Usman Ahmad received the Mission Success Award for his role in repelling terrorist attacks and sustaining operational effectiveness under pressure.

In the innovation category, Colonel Ibrahim Mohammed Gero was awarded for developing a redesigned ballistic gunboat deployed in support of Operation DELTA SAFE.

Late Colonel B. Umaru was posthumously honoured with the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Excellence Award for his role in Operation HADIN KAI, while late Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari received the Fallen Heroes Award for his contributions to counter-terrorism operations in the North-East.

In the veterans’ category, former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), received the Legacy (Service and Sacrifice) Award for reforms undertaken during his tenure from 2015 to 2021 and his subsequent diplomatic service as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin.

Speaking at the event, President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, charged the Armed Forces to remain disciplined, loyal and united, describing them as guardians of Nigeria’s democracy.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the military to achieve lasting peace and announced the approval of two initiatives—the Thank-A-Soldier Electronic Wall and the My Nigerian Hero Campaign—to enable Nigerians to honour serving personnel and veterans.

The Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is an annual event to honour fallen heroes, recognise serving personnel and celebrate veterans of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

But ignorant wailers and Bitter Obidients are crying about the tax reforms that will further strengthen the Education sector. The problem with these wailers is that they hardly read, do their own findings or read policy documents. They simply log onto social media, pick up whatever narratives that suit them and start repeating it WITHOUT THINKING AND VERIFYING.

Have you seen ASUU come out to condemn the tax laws?. Sensible people are only laughing at the ignorant mobs crying about the tax laws they know absolutely nothing about. Poor people crying over a policy that will benefit the poor.

That was how they were also misleading the public that TETFUND will be eliminated under the new tax law. All manner of lies and misinformation against the tax law. Indeed, politics has exposed the level of HighQ of an average Nigerian.
PoliticsFG Approves ₦6Bn Intervention Fund For Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges by Putindbutt(op): 3:56pm On Jan 15
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) has announced plans to disburse N6.452 billion to 271 public tertiary institutions across Nigeria under its 2026 intervention cycle.

According to a statement by the agency, the funds are aimed at improving physical infrastructure, strengthening academic programmes, and supporting research and innovation in the country’s higher education sector.

the Executive Secretary of TETFund,
Sunny Echono, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while reading out the figures at the Fund’s annual disbursement meeting.

According to Echono, each category of institution will receive substantial funding to support infrastructure, research and academic development.

He said, “Each university will receive a total of ₦2,525,932,228.02, while polytechnics will receive ₦1,871,059,920.53 each. Colleges of education will get ₦2,056,527,973.04 each.”

He added that the 2026 intervention cycle is structured around direct disbursements and designated projects.

“A breakdown of the disbursement cycle shows that 90.75 per cent is allocated to total direct disbursement, made up of 50 per cent annual direct disbursement and 40.75 per cent special direct disbursement.

“Designated projects account for 9.07 per cent, while stabilisation funds stand at 0.18 per cent, ” he said.

The TETFUND boss said the agency will continue investing in research laboratories, ICT development, agricultural facilities, and security infrastructure, while also strengthening partnerships with the private sector to improve student exposure and skills development.

Echono urged institutions to fully utilise their 2025 allocations, warning that schools with unspent funds may not qualify for future disbursements.

He added that future funding will be based on performance, enrolment, and effective utilisation of allocated resources.

He further identified delays in project approvals, procurement processes, and poor use of the TERAS platform as challenges faced in previous cycles, calling on institutions to address these issues promptly to ensure smooth implementation in 2026.

He commended President Tinubu for approving the guidelines, noting that the move aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to reposition Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

According to Echono, the funds are designed to enhance infrastructure development, improve teaching and learning, and boost research output across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

He also announced the introduction of a new intervention line for 2026 known as the Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN), which aims to expand access to global academic resources and integrate the TERAS digital platform into the network.

On digital infrastructure, he added, “Our ICT roadmap will be further strengthened with expanded digital services, ICT Experience Centres, subscription-based internet access, and the continued advancement of the Tertiary Education Research Application Services, TERAS.”

Echono disclosed that TETFund had introduced a new intervention line for 2026 known as the Nigerian Research and Education Network (NgREN).

He explained that the initiative is designed to improve access to global academic resources and integrate the TERAS platform into NgREN from 2026.

“We are also expanding the special intervention projects to cover the establishment of Centres for Robotics, Coding and AI Machine Learning, as well as Centres for Cybersecurity Studies in selected beneficiary institutions,” he said.

The TETFund boss announced that 12 additional institutions would benefit from the commercial farm project.

“These will include two universities, eight polytechnics, and two colleges of education, ” he stated.

He added that the Fund would sustain the equipping and upgrading of research and development offices and continue student hostel development through Public-Private Partnerships.

Echono also commended the Federal Inland Revenue Service for its role in the collection of education tax.

“Let me extend our sincere gratitude to the Federal Inland Revenue Service and its leadership for the collection of Education Tax in 2025,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the new development levy under Nigeria’s revised tax regime would further strengthen TETFund’s capacity to deliver on its mandate.

As preparations begin for the 2026 intervention cycle, Echono urged beneficiary institutions to ensure full utilisation of their 2025 allocations.

“As we prepare to commence the 2026 intervention cycle, I urge all Heads of Beneficiary Institutions to ensure the full utilisation of their 2025 allocations,” he said, expressing confidence that 2026 would deliver “strengthened capacity, innovation, and measurable impact” across the tertiary education sector.

Lere Olayinka, spokesperson of the minister, said the promotions followed examinations conducted from November 25 to 29, 2025.

Olayinka said those promoted include workers from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Emeka Ezeh, chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, said the promoted officers cut across 165 cadres in the service.

Ezeh described the exercise as a “clear demonstration of Wike’s commitment to staff welfare and career progression”, adding that promotion examinations would continue to be conducted as and when due.

He urged civil servants to begin early preparation for the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, noting that only diligent and hardworking staff would be promoted.

The commission chairman also reiterated its commitment to conducting promotion examinations through computer-based tests (CBT), adding that the process would deepen the digital platform for promotions earlier approved by the FCT minister.

HealthRe: Why We Can’t Give Resident Doctors Special Allowances – FG by Putindbutt(op):
Jeje247:
You don't much about what you are talking about.
Residents are not undergraduates. They are actually workers without whom the teaching hospitals would stop working. They are already doctors that have multiple certifications but seeking to become a fellow in a specialty.

By passing the part 1 exams, they become senior residents and perform roles that consultants would perform. They only have to do research, right papers and lecture undergraduate students in some cases till they get fellowship. Asking for a certificate after part 1 isn't totally out of place.
The specialist allowance most likely is supposed to cover research work and others since government wages are barely enough to cover living expenses.

Mind you, when government officials start using bogus figures, they are trying to buy public sympathy. If you split those billions among the thousands of residents in the country, you will see how meagre it is.
This is in a country where politicians steal trillions of naira and get away with it.
I used the word undergraduate to refer to as not being certified yet by postgraduate medical college. I have a professional cert and I was refered to an undergrad in the school until I wrote and passed my final exams. Even though I already have my first degree.

According to the standard of the Medical college, you cannot be issued a cert after part1 exam, you ain't qualified yet. Finish all your exams bro, do the needful. You ain't a specialist yet, you can't jump the line bro.

And that's not a bogus figure because the union representatives signed on the agreement and have never come out to deny it.

Categorization of the membership certificate as Category B (specialist cadre) is what obtains in most West African African countries until recently when the MDCN downgraded it to category C without any obvious reason. A senior resident is a specialist & is entitled to specialist allowance.

Globally there's scarcity of human resources for health. And one of the pull factor is good remuneration. As long as the remuneration is poor, the brain drain will never be reversed. The country cannot claim to have done enough, if basic allowances of doctors cannot be sorted out when far more resources are used to fund the allowances of politicians that don't contribute much to the wellbeing of the people.
Senior resident in your own pocket, he is still a trainee whether you like it or not, therefore, no special allowances until he fully completes his training.
And if you comparing to politicians, there are medical doctors who have transitioned into politics, you can as well follow suit. You're obviously the very ignorant one here. I probably would have glossed over your ignorance but I'd just be merciful to address a couple and enlighten you. Calling medical graduates doing a residency programme as undergraduates is complete lack of knowledge from your part. If a PhD holder can be classed as a postgraduate, then calling resident doctors who are way above that level as undergraduates is utterly ignorant.
As per the certificates, maybe you don't know what obtains in other countries including the UK who issue MRCS or MRCP certificates for their equivalent part 1 programmes. These are called membership certificates and are well in line with their demands. It's already being implemented even in all West African countries except Nigeria which is embarrassing. I don't have the energy to banter childish arguments with you. Before you make more ignorant posts please enlighten yourself further.
The resident doctors are mere trainees, they have no rights to dictate to Govt or post medical college how to issue a certificate. If you're hungry for a certificate before sitting for your final exam, you can relocate to the UK. If they can't focus on their trainings and then see how to better and further develop their carrers after their training, then they should refund Govt funds for their training and relocate to wherever butter their bread.
The senior doctors started like they are and did not make unreasonable demands as these GenZ doctors whom many Nigerians are even reluctant to have them treat or attend to them but would rather prefer the senior doctors. They should first learn than putting money before their carrer. Greedy trainees.
