Foreign Affairs / Re: Gas explosion At Atomic Junction In Accra. by qhutetomsel(f): 11:39pm On Oct 07, 2017
makydebbie:
Jeez, I don't want to think of it. It's a tragedy.
My dear, atomic is very busy oo! Just opposite the station. Is a bus park, where busses drop passengers and where passengers enter busses to their various destinations. Not to talk of the bridge and sellers there.

Yea fire fighters are around, they were around when I created this thread, ambulances are there too. But last I heard, the fire isn't down, I don't know about now.
It is well! I pray God restores peace as soon as possible.
Also heard there's a robbery attack around the airport so people around there should be very careful.

Thank God your brother is safe.
Its happening close to my house and it's not funny. Rain is falling heavily here too. I hope there won't be heavy casualties.
Lalasticlala.
According to what I heard, A tanker was offloading gas and it exploded, I'm quite scared for the driver and the people around at that period(I heard its a busy place).
Hmmn!God have mercy!
I hope Fire fighters have been able to get things under control?

Quite a disaster! sad
My brother just texted me that the explosion was very close to his school and that he felt the vibration in his room. He sounded quite shaken. Thank God he is safe and I hope everyone out there is safe too.
Makydebbie it is well!

Romance / Re: I SAID YES, Another Cute Pre-wedding Picture Shoot By A Nairalander by qhutetomsel(f): 7:58pm On Oct 04, 2017

I'm telling you dear.
I remember when I began nursing the idea to write. To keep myself busy and happy. I went first to Literature section. I liked it there but I didn't want something too serious with people who do not know me telling me what I'm not doing right or mounting pressure on me to update when I don't want to. I like to do things at my own pace.

Can't even remember how I found my way to Diary section. I noticed the people who started the writings were the only ones permitted to write. I made the comment on someone's diary but couldn't.

At that point I knew I found the best place for me to chill and play to my heart's content cheesy I have no regrets whatsoever in that section.
we have same minds cheesy
I was a regular in the literature section before I found the diary section and eventually started mine. I've been hooked ever since then. Absolutely No regrets!

Lol. When people stop caring about other people's negative opinion on social media about them, they'll live healthier and happier in real life.

Imagine me coming to look at pre-wedding pictures only to meet nothing because someone who thinks freedom of speech includes giving their silly opinion about everything told the OP that her husband to be isn't good looking. Lol.

OP, I hope you don't cancel your wedding because of this. Happy married life.

Fakeness everywhere...
reason why diary section is home for me, Only your opinion matters there.
Its so sad tbh, going through the thread made me realise how uncouth some people can be angry

Franknetter, there's a lot of misconceptions about Africa. Most of the time, i'm always irritated by the ignorance of some people but with time, i got used to it.

I've seen people who thinks africa is a country, people who think all African live in the desert with a dung hut. I have a Cameroonian male friend who told me about someone asking him if he has wild animals like tiger or gorilla as pet before coming to the states.

I think the media has been a real disaster when it comes to Africa bevause they only show the deserts, people starving and animals everywhere. I have a friend who think Africa looks just exactly as what was shown in French Montana's Unforgettable video. It's just too funny
I agree to this. Many times I've tried to convince people that Africa is a continent and not a country. I guess they don't emphasize on learning the continents in the world in their education system than they do in schools in africa undecided.
I had a a black guy who was listening to my youth pastor tell us about his trip to somewhere in Africa(can't remember the country) and the next thing this guy asked was "did you see monkeys there"? shocked we were all shocked at his ignorance, then the white man replied and said he didn't see any. I was so glad the reply was coming from a white man.
Its gonna be hard changing the mentality of Africa the white people have tbh.

Lool

Was pretty young when we came here, so I just picked it up. My German is actually better than my English grin. It all depends on age. The older you get, the more difficult it becomes.
yeah, its easier to learn new languages as a child.
Enjoy your day, girl! smiley

Lool. The fakeness is real! I just put on my poker face or the "what the hell is wrong with this 1 look" Hopefully that makes them realise how dumb and ridiculous those smiles are. I mean it doesn't even reach their eyes! Why even smile, if it's going to look like you are in pain?!
Lmao! "smile as if they're in pain" is so true. The way the smile disappears from their face afterwards with no emotions is just so surprising shocked.. I don't condone it anymore, either take my face away or give them an indifferent face angry

Must be quite difficult learning the german language tho .. I don't think I can survive in a non speaking english country lipsrsealed

Loool, girl same in Germany. That fake smile must be genetics grin
Girl and its so annoying! At first I always smile back and say "Hi" till I realised the fakeness in the smile. Now when a random person smiles at me, I have that look of "keep your fake smile to yourself, I don't know you" undecided
Its probably a white/caucasian thing grin

before I emigrated to the US, I always thought it was a joke ooo until I got to the US. infact, it all started at the point of entry, 2012, I almost referred to the CBP officer as Uncle because it was a middle-aged man. Thank God I realized myself immediately and jejely passed.

Which of the states do you reside. I'm in LA
I was so African at my point of entry, kept on using "Ma and Sir" grin grin, It took a long while for me to get used to the norm here

I'm in MN

when the economy was better I could tip, these days I would even open the door myself if I could, I am a Lagosian by birth if that counts

yea you can get failed for that, we value titles and all that crap, my mum's younger brother is a Canadian citizen now, in times past when he went abroad newly he would always say don't call me sir, the name is Orji till date I still found it funny how he hated this country at a short interval and adapted easily.
yeah. We attach a lot of importance to titles.

cheesy cheesy I get it a lot when I go to gtbank e banking centres and some cafeteria it's almost like blackmail coz I have to then tip them, most times I thank them and fake a smile, you a Lagosian??
at least there's a motive behind all that, You won't see an average Nigerian open the door for you when you're still a few meters away from them. Yeah!

cheesy cheesy just read through, your tribe likes to be very respectful, it was expected I hold the doors out for ladies and help them fix their seats properly, its in the course outline of charm101
Yeah, but you never see anyone in Nigeria, especially in a school setting call a superior to their face by their first name..
Opening doors for ladies is a different scenario, one of the perks of being a gentleman tongue.
But here literally anyone can open the door for you, something about being nice or polite undecided. I hate it tho, cos then I have to walk fast not to keep you waiting angry
