IslamIbn Kathir: Story Of Prophet Dawud/David (pbuh) by Qtsnow(op): 9:26am On Feb 24, 2017
When the two armies faced each other, Goliath challenged any soldier from King Saul's army to single combat, as was the custom of battle in those days. Goliath also wanted to show off his strength. The men were terrorized, and no one had enough courage to volunteer. The king offered the hand of his pretty daughter in marriage to the man who would fight Goliath, but even this tempting offer did not change the deadly silence among his soldiers.

Then, to everyone's surprise, a youth stepped forward. A roar of laughter echoed from the enemy's side, and even Saul's men shook their heads.

The young man was David (Dawud), from the city of Bethlehem. His elderly father had chosen three of his sons to join Saul's army. He had instructed the youngest one, David, not to take part in the fighting but to help the army in other ways and to report to his father daily on what was happening on the war front.

Although Saul was very impressed by the youth's courage, he said: "I admire your courage, but you are no match for that mighty warrior. Let the strong men come forward." David, however, had already decided and was willing to meet the challenge. Proudly, he told the king that only the day before he had killed a lion which had threatened his father's sheep, and on another occasion he had killed a bear. He asked Saul not to judge him by his appearance, for he feared no man or wild beast. Saul, surprised by young David's brave stance, agreed: "My brave soldier, if you are willing, then may Allah guard you and grant you strength!"

The king dressed David in battle armor and handed him a sword, but David was not used to wearing battle dress. He felt uncomfortable in it, and it obstructed his movements. He removed the armor, then collected a few pebbles and filled his leather pouch with them. He slung it over his shoulder next to his sling. With his wooden staff in hand, he began to walk towards the enemy. Saul was worried and asked him how on earth, with a sling and a couple of stones was he going to defend himself against the giant? David replied: "Allah Who protected me from the claws of the bear and the fangs of the lion will certainly protect me from this brute!"

When Goliath set eyes on the lean young man who looked like a boy, he laughed loudly and roared: "Are you out to play war with one of your playmates, or are you tired of your life? I will simply cut off your head with one swipe of my sword!"

David shouted back: "You may have armor, shield, and sword, but I face you in the name of Allah, the Lord of the Israelites, Whose laws you have mocked. Today you will see that it is not the sword that kills but the will and power of Allah!"

So saying, he took his sling and placed in it a pebble from his pouch. He swung and aimed it at Goliath. The pebble shot from the whirling sling with the speed of an arrow and hit Goliath's head with great force. Blood gushed out, and Goliath thumped to the ground, lifeless, before he had a chance to draw his sword. When the rest of his men saw their mighty hero slain, they took to their heels. The Israelites followed in hot pursuit, taking revenge for their years of suffering at the hands of their enemy, killing every soldier they could lay hands on. In this battle the Israelites regained the glory and honor that had been lost for a long time.

David became a hero overnight. Saul kept his word and married his daughter Michal (Miqel) to the young warrior and took him under his wing as one of his chief advisors.

Almighty Allah declared: So they routed them by Allah's Leave and David killed Goliath, and Allah gave him (David) the kingdom (after the death of Saul and Samuel) and wisdom, and taught him of that which He willed. And if Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief. But Allah is full of Bounty to the Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exist). (Ch 2:251 Quran).

David became the most famous man among the Israelites. However, he was not inveigled by this; he was not a prisoner of fame or leadership but a prisoner of Allah's love.

Therefore, after killing Goliath he went out into the desert in the company of nature, glorifying Almighty Allah and contemplating His favors. Verily, We made the mountains to glorify Our Praises with him (David) in the Ashi (after the mid-day till sunset) and Ishraq (after the sunrise till mid-day). And (so did) the birds assembled: all with him (David) did turn (to Allah, glorified His Praises). We made his kingdom strong and gave him wisdom and sound judgment in speech and decision. (Ch 38:18-20 Quran)

Creatures such as the plants, birds, beasts, and even the mountains responded to his voice glorifying Allah. Allah had chosen David to be a prophet and revealed the Psalms to him. As He the Almighty said: And to David We gave the Psalms. (Ch 17:55 Quran).

David recited his scripture and glorified Allah while the mountains joined him praise and the birds rallied around him. Almighty Allah directed: Be patient (O Muhammad) of what they say, and remember Our slave David, endured with power. Verily, he was ever oft-returning in all matters and in repentance toward Allah. (Ch 38:17 Quran).

David's sincerity was not the only factor responsible for the birds and beasts joining with him in glorifying Allah, nor was the sweetness of his voice. IT was a miracle from Allah. This was not his only miracle, for Allah also endowed him with the faculty of understanding the languages of birds and animals.

David (pbuh) fasted every other day. Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al-As narrated: Allah's Apostle (pbuh) said to me: "The most beloved fasting to Allah was the fasting of the Prophet David, who used to fast alternate days. And the most beloved prayer to Allah was the prayer of David, who used to sleep the first half of the night, and pray for one third of it and again sleep for a sixth of it.'" (Sahih Al-Bukhari).

Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al-As also narrated: "The Prophet (pbuh) said to me: 'I have been informed that you pray all the nights and observe fast all the days; is this true?' I replied: 'Yes.' He said: 'If you do so, your eyes will be weak and you will get bored. So fast three days a month, for this will be the fasting of a whole year. (Or equal to the fasting of a whole year).' I said: 'I find myself able to fast more.' He said: 'Then fast like the fasting of (the Prophet) David (pbuh) who used to fast on alternate days and would not flee on facing the enemy.'" (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Allah granted David great influence. His people had a great number of wars in their time, but they had a problem in that the iron armor was too heavy for the fighter to move and fight as he wished. It is said that David was sitting one day, contemplating this problem while toying with a piece of iron. Suddenly, he found his hand sinking in the iron. Almighty Allah had made it flexible for him: And We made the iron soft for him. (Ch 34:10 Quran)

The people praised and loved David. However, the hearts of men are fickle and their memories short. Even great men can feel insecure and become petty-minded. One day David found Saul in a worried state. He sensed something strange in Saul's attitude towards him. That night, when he shared his feeling with his wife, she started to weep bitterly and said: "O David, I will never keep any secrets from you." She told him that her father had become jealous of his popularity and feared that he would lose his kingdom to him. She advised him to be on his guard.

This information shocked David very much. He prayed and hoped that Saul's good nature would overcome the darker side of his character. The following day, Saul summoned David to inform him that Canaan had gathered its forces and would march on the kingdom. He ordered David to advance on them with the army and not to return unless victory was gained.

David sensed that this was an excuse to get rid of him; either the enemy would kill him, or in the thick of battle, Saul's henchmen might stab him in the back. Yet he hastened with his troops to meet the army of Canaan. They fought the Canaanites brav, without thinking of their own safety. Allah granted them victory, and David lived to return to Saul.

Unfortunately, this only increased Saul's fear, so he plotted to kill David. Such is jealousy that not even a daughter's well-being mattered. Michal learned of her father's plan and hurried to warn her husband. David gathered some food and things, mounted his camel and fled. He found a cave in which he remained hidden for many days. After a time, David's brothers and some citizens joined forces with him. Saul's position became very weak, for he began to rule with a heavy hand. He ill-treated the learned, tortured the reciters of the Talmud, and terrorized his soldiers. This worsened his position, and his subjects began to turn against him. He decided to go war against David. Hearing this news, David marched to confront Saul's army.

The king's army had traveled a great distance and was overcome by fatigue, so they decided to rest in a valley, where they fell asleep. Quietly, David crept up to the sleeping Saul, removed his spear, and cut off a piece of his garment with the sword. David then awakened the king and told him: "Oh king, you come out seeking me, but I do not hate you, and I do not want to kill you. If I did, I would have killed you when you were asleep. Here is a piece of your garment. I could have hacked your neck instead, but I did not. My mission is that of love, not malice." The king realized his mistake and begged for forgiveness.

Time passed and Saul was killed in a battle in which David did not take part. David succeeded Saul, for the people remembered what he had done for them and elected him king. So it was that David the Prophet was also a king. Allah strengthened the dominion of David and made him victorious. His kingdom was strong and great; his enemies feared him without engaging in war with him.

David had a son named Solomon (Sulaiman), who was intelligent and wise from childhood. When the following story took place, Solomon was eleven years old.

One day David, was sitting, as usual, solving the problems of his people when two men, one of whom had a field, came to him. The owner of the field said: "O dear Prophet! This man's sheep came to my field at night and ate up the grapes and I have come to ask for compensation." David asked the owner of the sheep: "Is this true?" He said: "Yes, sir." David said: "I have decided that you give him your sheep in exchange for the field." Solomon, to whom Allah had given wisdom in addition to what he had inherited from his father, spoke up: "I have another opinion. The owner of the sheep should take the field to cultivate until the grapes grow, while the other man should take the sheep and make use of their wool and milk until his field is repaired. If the grapes grow, and the field returns to its former state, then the field owner should take his field and give back the sheep to their owner."

David responded: "This is a sound judgment. Praise be to Allah for gifting you with wisdom. You are truly Solomon the Wise."

Prophet David was a just and righteous ruler who brought peace and prosperity to his people, and whom Allah honored as a messenger. He delivered Allah's message to the people through the precious gift of his melodious voice. When he recited the Psalms (Zaboor), it was as if the rest of creation chanted with him; people listened as if in a trance. The messages David delivered are famous and well remembered. They are known in the Bible as the Psalms or Songs of David.

David divided his working day into four parts: one to earn a living and to rest, one to pray to his Lord, one to listen to the complaints of his people, and the last part to deliver his sermons. He also appointed deputies to listen to his subjects' complaints so that in his absence people's problems might not be neglected.

Although a king, he did not live on the income of his kingdom. Being well-experienced in the craft of weapon-making, he made and sold weapons and lived on that income.

One day, as David was praying in his prayer niche, he ordered his guards not to allow anyone to interrupt him, but two men managed to enter and disturb him. "Who are you?" he asked. One of the men said: "Do not be frightened. We have a dispute and have come for your judgment." David said: "What is it?" The first man said: "This is my brother, has ninety nine sheep, and I have one. He gave it to me but took it back." David, without hearing from the other party said: "He did you wrong by taking the sheep back, and many partners oppress one another, except for those who are believers."

The two men vanished like a cloud, and David realized that they were two angels sent to him to teach him a lesson. He should not have passed a judgment without hearing from the opposing party.

Almighty Allah told us of this incident: And has the news of the litigants reached you? When they climbed over the wall into (his) Mihrab (a praying place or a private room). When they entered in upon David, he was terrified of them, they said: Fear not! (We are) two litigants, one of whom has wronged the other; therefore judge between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, and guide us to the Right Way."

"Verily, this is my brother (in religion) has ninety nine ewes, while I have only one ewe, and he says: 'Hand it over to me,' and he overpowered me in speech."

David said immediately without listening to the opponent: "He has wronged you in demanding your ewe in addition to his ewes. And, verily, many partners oppress one another, except those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and they are few."

And David guessed that We have tried him and he sought Forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down prostrate and turned to Allah in repentance. So We forgave him that, and verily, for him is a near access to Us, and as good place of final return Paradise.

O David! Verily! We have placed you as a successor on earth, so judge you between men in truth and justice. And follow not your desire for it will mislead you from the Path of Allah. Verily! Those who wander astray from the Path of Allah shall have a severe torment, because they forgot the Day of Reckoning. (Ch 38:21-26 Quran).

David worshipped Allah, glorified Him and sang His praise until he died. According to traditions, David died suddenly and was mourned by four thousand priests as well as thousands of people. It was so hot that people suffered from the intensity of the sun. Solomon called the birds to protect David and the people from the sun, and they did so until he was buried. This was the first sign of his dominion to be witnessed by the people.
IslamPraying Fajr And Isha Solah At Home- For Muslim Men by Qtsnow(op): 2:57pm On Jan 09, 2017
Praise be to Allaah.

With regards to praying Fajr in your house, this is a sin for which you must repent to Allaah, and it is a problem from which you are suffering and we ask Allaah to help you to overcome it. That is because the evidence which indicates that it is obligatory to pray in congregation does not apply only to some prayers and not others, rather it is general in meaning and applies to all the prayers, the first of which is Fajr, about which you are asking.

How can you feel comfortable about not praying Fajr in congregation and depriving yourself of complete light on the Day of Resurrection? Abu Dawood (561), al-Tirmidhi (223) and Ibn Maajah (781) narrated from Buraydah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Give glad tidings to those who walk to the mosques in the dark, of perfect light on the Day of Resurrection.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb.

How can you feel comfortable about not praying Fajr in congregation and depriving yourself of meeting the angels and their testifying for you before your Lord? Al-Bukhaari (555) and Muslim (632) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Angels come to you in succession, night and day, and they meet at Fajr prayer and ‘Asr prayer, then those who stayed among you overnight ascend and [Allaah] asks them – although He knows better about them – ‘How did you leave My slaves?’ and they say, ‘We left them when they were praying and we came to them when they were praying.’”

How can you feel comfortable about not praying Fajr in congregation and depriving yourself of the reward of spending half the night in prayer? Muslim narrated in his Saheeh (656) that ‘Uthmaan (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Whoever prays ‘Isha’ in congregation, it is as if he spent half the night in prayer, and whoever prays Fajr in congregation, it is as if he spent the whole night in prayer.”

According to a report narrated by Abu Dawood (555) and al-Tirmidhi (221): “Whoever prays ‘Isha’ in congregation, it is as if he spent half the night in prayer, and whoever prays ‘Isha’ and Fajr in congregation, it is as if he spent the (whole) night in prayer.”

How can you feel comfortable about not praying Fajr in congregation and depriving yourself of the protection of Allaah? It was narrated that Abu Bakrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays Fajr with the congregation will be under the protection of Allaah, and whoever violates this protection of Allaah, Allaah will throw him into the Fire on his face.” Al-Haythami said in Majma’ al-Zawaa’id: This was narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Kabeer in a hadeeth; this is its wording and its men are the men of saheeh; it was also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb.

The origin of this hadeeth is in Saheeh Muslim, in the chapter entitled The virtue of praying ‘Isha’ and Fajr in congregation (657). “Whoever violates the protection of Allaah,” means by harming and offending the believer who prayed Fajr in congregation.

How can you feel comfortable about not praying Fajr in congregation when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us that feeling that it is too burdensome to pray Fajr in congregation is the sign of the hypocrites? Al-Bukhaari (657) and Muslim (651) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most burdensome of prayers for the hypocrites are ‘Isha’ and Fajr. If only they knew what (reward) there is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl. I was thinking of ordering that the call to prayer be given, then I would tell a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would set out with some men carrying bundles of wood and go to people who do not attend the prayer, and burn their houses down with them inside.”

‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “When we noticed that a man was not present at Fajr and ‘Isha’ prayer, we would think badly of him.” Narrated by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak, 764, and elsewhere; he classed it as saheeh according to the conditions of the two shaykhs (al-Bukhaari and Muslim), and al-Dhahabi and al-Albaani agreed with him.

The Muslim who is keen to attend the prayers in congregation, as you describe yourself, would not feel comfortable, in sha Allaah, to miss praying Fajr in congregation, after hearing what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said about that.

May Allaah help us and you to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Got A Good Job I'm Not Qualified For.. by Qtsnow(m): 3:22pm On Oct 06, 2016
Nateben:
It can only be a Miracle.
I've been jobless for close to 1 year now, no place to go, depression and brokeness.
So, on that faithful Sunday, the very last week of September, my brothers friend came to the house, we got talking and I made mention of my condition, before he left, he took my contact, and told me I'll hear from him.
So last week Monday, he asked me to come to his office at VI, he works with a well known bank in this country, I got there before 10am and met him in his office, he was telling me about the nature of the job, and just as he got to the part of asking how much I would like as my salary, his boss walked in to pick a document, and as he was leaving, the guy drew his attention, by telling him that I am the guy for the inventory job, he shook me and sat down, then asked if I like the job, and I replied Yes. He then asked if I was married, I replied No, he asked lots of questions, which I just gave simple replies. At last he asked me to choose monthly or weekly pay, I quickly chose weekly, then he asked how much I want per week, I didn't waste time in saying 30k, he was silent for some seconds and asked if I am good with Excel and I said No. He smiled and said he wouldn't pay me such amount if I'm not good with Excel, he offered 20k and asked me to bring someone who is good with Excel to be collecting 10k per week, with free transport, breakfast and lunch, before I could say jack, that my brothers friend said he has a sister who would do the typing, so his boss got up, and asked me to start on Tuesday and left.

Nature of my job....
They have so many tagged cartons, with big files inside, my job is to write down the tag number on the carton, then open it, and write down the contents, some cartons contain only two files inside, I just write down what is written on the two files...

I come out by 7 in the morning at my Junction, and office bus picks me up, I don't follow them back because I close by 4, and I can wear anything I want to work. On Friday, I was still on my way to work when alert came in, I was payed in full, despite starting on Tuesday...

So, to anyone looking or hoping for a job, be prayerful, God still answers prayers, but I advise you to learn Microsoft Office, full package, it really helps...

Peace I'm out.
Kindly Note that the nature of your job is contract/casual based, you might find that you have finished the last box barely two months on the job, so don't start having plan in buying Iphone 7, Designer Shoes, shirts and Wristwatches, and please don't eat with both hands, save for the raining day. I pray you are given a full time job there.

IslamRe: Death In Islam And Proper Burial Techniques| Part 1 by Qtsnow(m): 3:48pm On Sep 16, 2016
Contact17:
Death is a normal occurrence which will hit each one of us at its’ predestined time. Allah says in the Qur’an (interpretation of its meaning)
“Every soul will taste death” [3: 185].

So let us make use of our life before our death as advised by the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him who said “Make the most of five things before five others: life before death, health before sickness, free time before becoming busy, youth before old age, and wealth before poverty.” ( Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 1077).
But how should a Muslim react to the death of a loved one and what are the proper steps to take during the morning and burial period?

A Muslim reaction to death

Whilst the death of a person happens at its predestined time, it is a test for those related to the deceased. Hence as Muslims, we react to death the same way we react to trials. We react by being patient and saying " Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raaji'oon".

Allah says in the Quran (meaning of its interpretation),

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, {2:155}
Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." {2:156}
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided. {2:157}

Since the death of a loved one is a test, it is important for us to use the opportunity to remember death, repent, and draw closer to Allah. Usually when a person loses a loved one, it reminds one of the realities of death. What have you and I prepared for when we are shrouded and placed beneath the earth?

Mourning and condolence

The mourning of a deceased should not be more than three days except the case of a widow. It was narrated that, Umm Habeebah bint Abi Sufyaan reported that when the news of her father’s death reached her, she called for some perfume and wiped it on her forearms, and said: “I do not need it, but I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘It is not permitted for a woman who believes in Allaah and the Last Day to mourn for any dead person for more than three days, except for a husband, (in which case the period of mourning is) four months and ten days. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4926).

It is also important to note that it is not the Sunnah of the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) to wear black while mourning, raise one’s voice in wailing and lamenting, striking the cheeks and eulogizing the deceased. These are all bid’ah and actions of the jaahiliyyah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) disavowed the one who does that when he said: “He is not one of us who rends his garment and slaps his cheeks and calls out with the call of jaahiliyyah.”

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) mentioned in Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, (17/414): Wearing black in mourning for the dead is a kind of bid’ah and displaying grief, and it is akin to rending one’s garment and slapping one’s cheeks. He also mentioned in Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 17/329, that wearing black clothes at times of calamity is an innovation with no Sunnah basis.

Should the family of the deceased gather to receive condolence ie (stay in a particular place where people who wish to offer condolence can meet them)?

This is a matter in which the scholars differed: The view of the Shaafa‘is and Hanbalis is that it was markooh to gather in order to receive condolence, and many of the Maalikis; some of them even stated that it is haraam. The strongest evidence was the report of Jareer ibn ‘Abdullah who sated: We used to regard gathering with the family of the deceased as wailing (which is forbidden). Narrated by Ahmad, 6866; and Ibn Maajah, 1612.
They also stated that gathering to receive condolence is something that was not done by the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) or any of his Companions, hence it is something that has been introduced. It is also contrary to the practice of the righteous early generations, who did not gather to receive condolences.

However, the of some of the Hanafis, some of the Maalikis and some of the Hanbalis, were of the opinion that there was nothing wrong with gathering to receive condolence as long as the it was free of objectable actions and innovation. One of the strongest evidence quoted was the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah, the wife of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) according to which, that if a member of her family died, the women would gather together, then they would depart, except her own relatives and close friends. She would order that a pot of talbeenah be cooked, then some thareed would be made and the talbeenah would be poured over it. Then she would say: Eat some of it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “Talbeenah soothes the heart of the sick person, and it takes away some of the grief.”
They also viewed gathering to offer condolences under the heading of traditions or customs, and not acts of worship, and the issue of innovation is not applicable with regard to traditions or customs; rather the basic principle with regard to traditions or customs is that they are permissible. https://islamqa.info/en/215016

Cooking from the household of the deceased.

We see these days that when a person dies, immediate families of the deceased cook for those who come to offer condolence. The correct thing is for relatives and neighbors to prepare meals for the immediate family of the deceased. It was narrated that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard that his cousin Ja’far ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him) had died in the Battle of Mu’tah, he told his family to make food for the family of Ja’far, and said, “Because there has come to them that which will preoccupy them.”

It is also important to note that it is not permissible for the family to cook for people for the sake of the deceased whether it is done on the day of the death, or on the fourth or tenth day after the death, or at the new year. So the slaughtering a ram or cow for the sake of the deceased is NOT permitted during funeral or “mourning ceremony”. This is also because the hadith narrated by Jareer ibn ‘Abd-Allaah al-Bajali (may Allaah be pleased with him) – one of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) –who said, “We used to count gathering with the family of the deceased and making food for them after the burial to be a kind of wailing (niyaahah).”

Lastly, there have been many cases where a person dies and the family is disheartened, not just because of the death of their loved one but also because of the cost that comes with mourning and burial.
The religion of Allah is easy, rather it is the people that make it difficult. All innovations/ bid’ah introduced into the religion are bad and are not accepted by Allah, as the prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated repeatedly that: "Every newly-invented thing is a bid'ah (innovation), every bid'ah is a going astray, and every going astray will be in the Fire." (Reported by al-Nisaa'i in al-Sunan, Salaat al-'Eedayn, Baab kayfa al-Khutbah). Reports with the same meaning were narrated via Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) by Ahmad, via al-'Irbaad ibn Saariyah by Abu Dawud and via Ibn Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) by Ibn Maajah..

Key things to remember.

• There is no need to give money to the family of the deceased.
• Forty days’ celebration that people do is bid’ah. In sha Allah I will explain more about this in my next post.
• There is no such thing as a person dying before their time or a dead person avenging their death.
• There is no such thing as ‘spirts of the dead’. After a person has been buried, they are either getting rewarded or punished in their graves.

In sha Allah I will be posting next on funerals, and some innovations regarding it, as well how the living can benefit the dead.

Investors have been warned by the Chinese Government about MMM Global and MMM China. The Chinese government believe that those schemes — and sites like them — are illegal. This news comes to us from Chinese media site Caixin [via Coinfox].

MMM Global is run by convicted Russian fraudster Sergey Mavrodi who served over four years in Russian prison for a pyramid scheme he ran in the 1990s. Mavrodi recently claimed that his more recent scheme was responsible for the price increase back in December 2015 and early January 2016. He provided no evidence to back up that claim (and neither did the writers who gave him more press by parroting his claims). It seems unlikely that is true, with bitcoin’s marketcap currently sitting at over $6 billion, it would take a lot of investment to move the price as significantly as it did.

Since at least December 25th, withdraws from MMM Global have halted. As of today, users still cannot access their funds. Nevertheless, MMM Global was successful for a while, as far as pyramid schemes go. The global version of the site, is currently listed as the #27,875 ranked website in the world, according to alexa.com.

MMM Global claims to be a mutual beneficiary network and ultimately, has very little to do with cryptocurrencies themselves. The connection only exists because MMM Global accepts bitcoin as a payment option and Mavrodi’s price claim. Nevertheless, Bitcoin does make these type of scams more effective because Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. As such, the Bitcoin community and especially Bitcoin media, should feel a responsibility to expose these types of scams as much and as quickly as possible.

A Mutual Beneficiary Network (MBN) is a new name for an old scam. Essentially a classic Ponzi scheme, MBNs attempt to piggyback off of the viral giving movements that grew in popularity a few years ago. Activities like paying the bill for the person behind you in line at Starbucks gained some press attention and it made anonymous giving sound like a real trend.

MMM claims that they are just connecting people. The idea is that you give to the network and then other people in the network will eventually give it back to you, and more. Unfortunately, with the promised returns of 20 – 100% a month, an exponential amount of new investors would have to join every month, in order for the scheme to continue. Paying out current investors with new investor money is the textbook definition of a Ponzi scheme.

The Bank of China’s warning likely comes too little, too late for investors, with the scheme rapidly falling apart. That said, it does seem that Mavrodi is quickly running out of countries to operate MMM Global in. He has recently begun targeting South Africa.

MMM Global appears larger than any other Ponzi schemes that have been linked to cryptocurrencies, but cryptocurrencies are no stranger to their own brand of Ponzi schemes. Paycoin / GAW Miners, as well as Banx Capital, show that alleged Ponzi schemes are common in new technologies like Cryptocurrencies.
InvestmentRe: SEC Warns Nigerians Of The Dangers Of MMM, Calls It Fraud by Qtsnow(m): 9:09am On Sep 01, 2016
Less than three months after the company collapsed in South Africa, MMM Global, a Russian Ponzi Scheme company has opened shop in Nigeria with the domain name-

MMM was established in 1989 by Sergei Mavrodi, his brother Vyacheslav Mavrodi, and Olga Melnikova. The name of the company was taken from the first letters of the three founders’ surnames.

Initially, the company imported computers and office equipment. In January 1992, tax police accused MMM of tax evasion, leading to the collapse of MMM-bank, and causing the company to have difficulty obtaining financing to support its operations. Faced with difficulties in funding its foreign trade, the company switched to the financial sector. It offered American stocks to Russian investors, but met with little success. Later, MMM-Invest was created for the purpose of collecting vouchers during privatisation. This effort was similarly unsuccessful.

MMM created its successful Ponzi scheme in 1994. The company started attracting money from private investors, promising annual returns of up to one thousand percent. It is unclear whether a Ponzi scheme was Mavrodi’s initial intention, inasmuch as such extravagant returns might have been possible during the Russian hyperinflation in such commerce as import-export.

MMM grew rapidly. In February 1994, the company reported dividends of 1,000%, and started an aggressive TV ad campaign. Since the shares were not quoted on any stock exchange and the company itself determined the share price, it maintained a steady price growth of thousands of percent annually, leading the public to believe its shares were a safe and profitable investment.

An important factor in the scheme’s success was word of mouth, but most of the company’s success came from its extremely aggressive ad campaign, which appealed to the general public by using “ordinary” characters that viewers could identify with. The most famous of them, a “folk hero” of early 1994, was Lyonya Golubkov. Another notable marketing effort was a giveaway of free Metro trips to all Moscow citizens on a particular day. MMM also was one of the first well-known companies in Russia with a logotype and slogans (“Flying from shadow to the light” and others).

At its peak the company was taking in more than 100 billion rubles (about 50 million USD) each day from the sale of its shares to the public. Thus, the cashflow turnover at the MMM central office in Moscow was so high that it could not be estimated. The management started to count money in roomfuls (1 roomful of money, 2 roomfuls of money, etc.).

Regular publication in the media of the rising MMM share price led President Boris Yeltsin to issue a decree in June 1994 prohibiting financial institutions from publicising their expected income.

The success of MMM in attracting investors led to the creation of other similar companies, including Tibet, Chara, Khoper-Invest, Selenga, Telemarket, and Germes. All of these companies were characterised by aggressive television advertising and extremely high promised rates of return. One company promised annual returns of 30,000%.

On July 22, 1994, the police closed the offices of MMM for tax evasion. For a few days the company attempted to continue the scheme, but soon ceased operations. At that point, Invest-Consulting, one of the company’s subsidiaries, owed more than 50 billion rubles in taxes (USD 26 million), and MMM itself owed between 100 billion and 3 trillion rubles to the investors (from USD 50 million to USD 1.5 billion). In the aftermath at least 50 investors, having lost all of their money, committed suicide.

Several organisations of “deceived investors” made efforts to recover their lost investments, but Sergei Mavrodi manipulated their indignation and directed it at the government. In August 1994 Mavrodi was arrested for tax evasion. However, he was soon elected to the Russian State Duma, with the support of the “deceived investors”. He argued that the government, not MMM, was responsible for people losing their money, and promised to initiate a pay-back program. The amount ultimately paid back was minuscule compared to the amount owed.

In October 1995, the Duma cancelled Mavrodi’s right to immunity as a deputy. In 1996, he tried to run for Russia’s presidency, but most of the signatures he received were rejected. MMM declared bankruptcy on September 22, 1997.

While it was believed that Sergei Mavrodi left Russia and moved to the United States, it is possible that he stayed in Moscow, using his money to change apartments regularly and employ a group of former special agents. With the help of a distant relative he started Stock Generation Ltd., another pyramid scheme based around trading non-existent companies’ stocks in a form of the “stock exchange game” on the company’s site, stockgeneration.com. Despite a bold-letter warning on the main page that the site was not a real stock exchange, between 20,000 and 275,000 people, according to various estimates, fell for the promised 200% returns and lost their money. According to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, losses of victims were at least USD 5.5 million.

Mavrodi was found and arrested in 2003. While in custody, Mavrodi was given until January 31, 2006 to read the documents in his fraud case against him (The criminal case consisted of 650 volumes, each 250-270 pages long). At the end of April 2007, Mavrodi was convicted of fraud, and given a sentence of four and a half years. Since he had already spent over four years in custody, he was released less than a month later, on May 22, 2007. He later went on to creating yet another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011.

The MMM scandal led to increased regulation of the Russian stock market, but the legacy of the fraud led many to become extremely suspicious of any joint stock companies.

In 2015 MMM began operating in South Africa with the same business model as MMM-2011, claiming a “30% per month” return through a “social financial network”. The group was identified as a possible pyramid scheme by the National Consumer Commission and accounts of clients were later frozen by Capitec Bank. In response to mounting criticism and official investigations by state authorities in 2016 supporters of the South African MMM scheme staged a protest march in Johannesburg.

In 2016, MMM launched a website targeting the Nigerian audience.

Many Nigerians who are not conversant with the fact that the company is a fraudulent establishment that defrauded more than 40 million people of at least USD10 billion before being shutdown and declaring bankruptcy in Russia.

mmm

As reported by Fin24, MMM Global in its usual manner operated a platform where its members are encouraged to donate money to others by rewarding them with the bitcoin-linked virtual currency – Mavros – in return, and can apparently get 30% return on their rand investment by doing so.

However, it is a known knowledge that a scheme is a Ponzi scheme when expected return is 20% higher than the repo rate. To the amazement of any reasonable person, many South Africans still fall prey despite the fact that the repo rate in SA is 7%.

MMM Global only gave South Africans the bad news with a post on its website saying “We regret to inform you that we have to close down the Republic of Bitcoin. It was an experiment, and, unfortunately, it failed. We turned out not to be able to pay 100% per month.”

How can a company that has been defrauding people since 1989 claim its scheme is an experiment in 2016?

I met a former colleague who has fallen prey to the fraud. He was reveling in the phantom promise that his NGN100,000 will yield him additional 30% in return. I immediately alerted him that he has fallen for a Ponzi Scheme and that everything will soon blow up in his face.

To further delude their victims, MMM Global has been using propaganda and lies. My colleague narrated the origin of the company to me. Even a smart person will get carried away. The height of the idiocy was when he told me that MMM was closed down in Russia because the company became richer than the Russian government and all the banks put together.

A day before it collapsed in South Africa, BehindMLM, a website that reports news on Ponzi Schemes and Multi-level Marketing, MLM warned the public saying:

“The financial apocalypse is upon us, MMM Global has collapsed,”

“MMM Global’s Ponzi clones offering a lower percentage haven’t ‘proved’ themselves any more than MMM Global did,”

“MMM Global cannot sustain paying out more than is invested. And as long as affiliate investment is the only source of revenue entering the scheme, any MMM Global scheme will ultimately collapse.

“They’ll continue to pay ROIs (return on investments) until withdrawals exceed the rate of new investment, and then run out of money all the same. One only needs to look at the collapse of MMM China for evidence of what’s to come”.

“Unfortunately for most MMM Global investors, the collapse is the end of the line. Those unlucky enough to live in countries where MMM Global runs secondary scams (like South Africa), were informed their accounts would be transferred over.”

However, I am not surprised that Nigerians will fall prey to MMM Global. Ponzi Schemes are recurring decimals in the social history of Nigeria. From fraudulent investment clubs, to wealth solutions and other MLMs across the country.

In the midst of the banking boom, many Nigerian lost billions of Naira (NGN) to Ponzi Schemes who promised millions of the population superfluous interest rates close to 150% within 30 days.

A writer once accused many Nigerians of ‘momentary amnesia’, but in the midst of an economic crises, record inflation and ‘technical recession’, the lack of access to information by victims of such schemes seals their fate.

mmm is not a business organization or cooperate investment platform and therefore cannot be registered under any government monitory or tax laws.

mmm is a social organizations base under the platform of social help or donation. people help each other. and I think they made it clear that it's not an investment platform.

there is nothing like scam there the only thing there is that it will definitely crushed. it's not a business but circular donations. the ponzi schemes is investment platform. although the similarity is the same.

as long as there are new people joining and helping each other the thing will keep going round. the sad part is that it will cut down business activity in the country to some certain %. as people putting their money in the scheme.

how its going to crashed? when people stop joining or stop putting their money. then their will be less donor who want to help and high receiver who want help. then it will crashed.
Just yesterday i read about the russian originator of this scheme since the 90's and believe you me, the story has always been sour for all its investors, it will look rosy at first but becomes a story that touches the heart on the long run. I guess you have heard of the case of MMM investors in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

PoliticsDele Momodu Worries Over Jonathan's Silence by Qtsnow(op): 6:53pm On Jan 23, 2016
Popular publisher and media leader Chief Dele Momodu raises the alarm on why nobody asks about Jonathan welfare and whereabouts.
Fellow Nigerians, I’m surprised that no one has asked about the wellbeing, welfare and whereabouts of our dear former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan. Are we so wicked and uncaring that we have forgotten the gentleman who brought us fresh air so soon? Do we truly suffer from “collective amnesia” (apologies Wole Soyinka) that no one is coming up in defence of the man who brought Facebook to Africa’s biggest nation? Where are all those acolytes who were falling all over themselves this time last year during the presidential campaigns? Where are the royal fathers from different parts of Nigeria who were decorating our president with all kinds of esoteric chieftaincy titles?
Where are the experts who were churning out endless statistics about how God had blessed us with the greatest President Nigeria ever knew? What happened to all the economic magicians who claimed that former President Jonathan had propelled us to the pinnacle of the temple and proclaimed that in consequence we were Africa’s numero uno economy? Where are the priests, pastors, alfas, Imams, marabouts, traditional worshippers, and all manner of religious personages who trumpeted that Ebele Goodluck Jonathan was the anointed of God at the 2015 presidential elections? Where are the 14 million farmers who were connected by mobile phones in our season of unprecedented agricultural revolution? Where are the plentiful loaves of cassava bread and the myriad of rice pyramids that we were told littered everywhere? Where are the ultra- modern air-conditioned trains that we were told travelled from Lagos to Kafanchan, to Kano and Enugu? Where is the second Niger Bridge; and the strategic East-West road? I have too many questions begging for answers but I will limit myself to only that relating to former President Goodluck Jonathan. I’m just trying to imagine the state of his mind at this terrible moment. I’m not a psychologist but I can attempt to play the role of one by doing some psychoanalysis of the man who left power under one year ago only to witness that things have literally fallen apart with his legacy completely obliterated in the twinkle of an eye. President Jonathan could not have bargained for the hurricane that has hit him In case you think I’m mucking around and mocking our former president, please perish the thought. I’m more of a sympathiser who would wish to draw sumptuous lessons from the tragedy that befell our former leader. From what I can see so far, President Jonathan as a person is a good man who was fortunate to have been able to effortlessly navigate and meander his way through the murky waters of Nigerian politics to arrive at the topmost position in Nigeria. He was obviously ill- prepared for power and governance and when it landed on his laps he hardly knew what to do with it. He was like a student who was too favoured and over-pampered by his lecturers until he had to write external exams and get exposed to the real world.
I’m certain, President Jonathan could not have bargained for the hurricane that has hit him. When he conceded and congratulated the then president-elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, he must have looked forward to a life of bliss in retirement. But what is happening now is the worst nightmare for a man who had been compared to Mahatma Ghandi, Lee Kuan Yew and Nelson Mandela. Jonathan would have to speak up on arms scandal I don’t know how this cacophony of allegations and babel of counter-allegations would end or subside but I am convinced President Goodluck Jonathan would have to speak up sooner than later. The reason is simple. I expect his embattled foot-soldiers to put all the blame on him as the one who authorised the disbursement of our common wealth by the most generous government in human history. As to the sharing of the bazaar, let’s be fair, how many people are there who would have been paid those stupendous sums and would reject the money or ask where it was coming from. At the end of the day, the former President would have to bear his own cross and come out clean and accept the blame. As the saying goes the buck stops at number one! I’m not sure apologies would suffice at the stage things have reached especially if the Buhari government is determined and ready to take its pound of flesh. In my view, it would be difficult to jail the messengers and let the master who sent them on irrational errands go scot free. That is the dilemma President Buhari would have to grapple with in the not too distant future. Would Buhari in good conscience be able to jail a former Nigerian President if indeed there was an agreement not to probe and punish the man? Will he be able to ignore the fact that this was a man who, uncharacteristically, voluntarily relinquished power after losing an election and was heralded by the whole world as an apostle of peaceful and democratic change in Africa? It is a tough question that only President Buhari can answer. Buhari should work harder to return stolen money The other poser is, how much of the wasted or looted funds can be recovered? I think from the experience of the past, it may not amount to much after all. The litigations are going to go on ad infinitum and some of the alleged culprits may actually escape punishment on technical and other grounds. The EFCC under the energetic and passionate Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was faced with such frustration. There is no other way to punish anyone under the law without going to court. That is the democratic way. It is the democratic way that former President Jonathan embraced, leading him to loosen his hold on power. And it is the democratic way that brought this our new President Buhari to power. There is thus no other way but to follow the judicial process and the principles of natural justice that flow therefrom. Those campaigning for extra-judicial prosecution and conviction may soon reach a cul-de- sac. You can keep the guys indefinitely in detention but how will that bring back the money. The truth is that the worst form of corruption is abuse of office and the impunity that it begets. That was the basis of the unbridled corruption that enveloped the Jonathan administration. If it remains unchecked, it will not be long before this present government also succumbs and becomes engulfed by the corruption it is professing to fight. Then we would have come full circle without anything to show for it, not even a wee part of our plundered wealth.
I think the biggest mistake of this government was the policy of saying people should not pay foreign currencies into their accounts. This has deprived the government of springing a surprise on those who would have kept their loot in Nigeria. It is now too late to expect those people to pay these foreign currencies into their accounts because of the policy reversal apparently foisted upon us by the visit of the IMF team. I am certain most of those monies have escaped our shores and no matter the anti- money laundering agreements we sign, those foreign countries are not likely to repatriate the funds at a time the world economy is almost comatose. This is another example of the need by all spheres of government to think through policies before they are announced. There have been too many policy somersaults by our apex financial regulatory bodies in recent time to augur well for our ailing economy. Negative signals have been sent by government to investors and citizens both at home and abroad and this has further increased the pain and burden of Nigerians. My personal advice is for government to work harder at getting back most of the money that has been stolen or misappropriated, as a matter of top priority. President Buhari may have to enter into unpleasant compromises to achieve this, but such is life. There is no point wasting the little resources now available to us on prosecuting and jailing criminals without getting something substantial out of the exercise. I pray and wish that President Goodluck Jonathan can redeem his erstwhile government a bit by appealing to his men and women and convincing them to return the atrocious sums of money which they stole without the fear of God. He should save Nigeria from this unnecessary ordeal of trying to compel refund of the filthy lucre and allow this government to settle down and concentrate on the serious business of governance.
Food15 Reasons Why You Must Not Eat Pork by Qtsnow(op): 3:25pm On Jan 23, 2016
Why the meat of the pig, or swine or hog for food
has been forbidden in both Judaism and Al-
Islam?
15 Things You Should Know About Pigs:
1) A pig is a real garbage gut. It will eat anything
including urine, excrement, dirt, decaying animal
flesh, maggots, or decaying vegetables. They will
even eat the cancerous growths off other pigs or
animals.
2) The meat and fat of a pig absorbs toxins like a
sponge. Their meat can be 30 times more toxic
than …beef or venison.
3) When eating beef or venison, it takes 8 to 9
hours to digest the meat so what little toxins are
in the meat are slowly put into our system and
can be filtered by the liver. But when pork is
eaten, it takes only 4 hours to digest the meat.
We thus get a much higher level of toxins within
a shorter time.
4) Unlike other mammals, a pig does not sweat or
perspire. Perspiration is a means by which toxins
are removed from the body. Since a pig does not
sweat, the toxins remain within its body and in
the meat.
5) Pigs and swine are so poisonous that you can
hardly kill them with strychnine or other poisons.
6) Farmers will often pen up pigs within a
rattlesnake nest because the pigs will eat the
snakes, and if bitten they will not be harmed by
the venom.
7) When a pig is butchered, worms and insects
take to its flesh sooner and faster than to other
animal’s flesh. In a few days the swine flesh is
full of worms.
Swine and pigs have over a dozen parasites
within them, such as tapeworms, flukes, worms,
and trichinae. There is no safe temperature at
which pork can be cooked to ensure that all these
parasites, their cysts, and eggs will be killed.
9) Pig meat has twice as much fat as beef. A 3
oz T bone steak contains 8.5 grams of fat; a 3 oz
pork chop contains 18 grams of fat. A 3 oz beef
rib has 11.1 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork spare rib
has 23.2 grams of fat.
10) Cows have a complex digestive system,
having four stomachs. It thus takes over 24 hours
to digest their vegetarian diet causing its food to
be purified of toxins. In contrast, the swine’s one
stomach takes only about 4 hours to digest its
foul diet, turning its toxic food into flesh.
11) The swine carries about 30 diseases which
can be easily passed to humans. This is why God
commanded that we are not even to touch their
carcase (Leviticus 11:cool.
12) The trichinae worm of the swine is
microscopically small, and once ingested can
lodge itself in our intestines, muscles, spinal cord
or the brain. This results in the disease
trichinosis. The symptoms are sometimes lacking,
but when present they are mistaken for other
diseases, such as typhoid, arthritis, rheumatism,
gastritis, MS, meningitis, gall bladder trouble, or
acute alcoholism.
13) The pig is so poisonous and filthy, that nature
had to prepare him a sewer line or canal running
down each leg with an outlet in the bottom of the
foot. Out of this hole oozes pus and filth his body
cannot pass into its system fast enough. Some of
this pus gets into the meat of the pig. (That is the
reason why pigs’ feet are so sticky when cooked)
14) According to Jewish law, pork is one of a
number of foods forbidden from consumption by
Jews. These foods are known as “non-kosher”
foods. In order for a meat to be kosher, it must
first come from a kosher animal. A kosher animal
must be a ruminant and have split hooves –
therefore cows, sheep, goats and deer are all
kosher, whereas camels and pigs (having each
only one sign of kashrut) are not kosher.
15) Quran, Holy book of Muslims also prohibits
consumption of pork.
“HE has made unlawful for you that which dies
by itself and blood and the flesh of swine and that
on which the Name of any other than The One Allah has been invoked. But he who is driven by
necessity, being neither disobedient nor exceeding
the limit, then surely, Allah is Most Forgiving,
Merciful.” Quran 2:173
I cannot understand why anyone would eat it. You
might as well vacuum all day and then take the
vacuum bag and make a nice soup out of it .”

So, is the place totally in charge of the state government and will they be willing to let go of some control of it? I have some experience with LASG and govt in Nigeria tends to stubbornly hold onto stuff even when they don't know how to use it.

Is there proper documentation of the wildlife and fauna and flora there? Which institute is attached to it please?
General overhauling of the place is the main thing, they still keep good inventory of the place inclusive of both, flora, fauna and machineries both dead and working, the logging process is one of the major income for the state government, so it might not be released fully to private funding, but anything can happen and I would love to work with your friends. Its not a place just anyone can go and have fun oo.

the place is underfunded and almost dead sef. Only destructive logging activities is what's left happening there.

No network, water and electricity again. Even the guest house is left unused

The bamboo groove, water fall and fish lake nko?? all out of it

Bad road and every other infrastructure is spoilt and unreplaced.

Only that bailey bridge crossing over the Omo river is still existing. It leads to the Elephants camp.

However, I enjoyed myself there but trust me you gotta be a forester or environmentalist to persevere and appreciate whats left of the place.

The place remains a natural resources reserve.
Fellow Forester (Asogbo), had my industrial Training there in 2012, I strongly concur with you, I think the major problem is that is because it is been run by the Ogun State government, just exploiting the reserve, with lesser funding and regeneration activities. I actually learnt felling and logging process then. I guess you are from FUNAAB.

Christianity EtcHow Muslims Should Behave In Non- Muslim Societies by Qtsnow(op): 5:46pm On Jan 01, 2016
I invite you to have respect for those people who have the right that they should be respected, those between whom there is an agreement (of protection) for you. For the land in which you are living is such that there is an agreement between you and them. If this were not the case they would have killed you or expelled you. So preserve this agreement, and do not prove treacherous to it, since treachery is a sign of the hypocrites, and it is not from the way of the Believers. And know that it is authentically reported from the Prophet that he said: "Whoever kills one who is under an agreement of protection will not smell the fragrance of Paradise." Do not be fooled by those sayings of the foolish people, those who say "Those people are Non-Muslims, so their wealth is lawful for us (to misappropriate or take by way of murder and killing)." For by Allah - this is a lie. A lie about Allah's Religion, and a lie about Islamic societies. So we may not say that it is lawful to be treacherous towards people whom we have an agreement with. O my brothers! O youth! O Muslims! Be truthful in your buying and selling, and renting, and leasing, and in all mutual transactions. Because truthfulness is from the characteristics of the Believers, and Allah - the Most High - has commanded truthfulness - in the saying of Allah - the Most High : "O you who believe - fear and keep you duty to Allah and be with the truthful." And the Prophet encouraged truthfulness and said: "Adhere to truthfulness, because truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Paradise. And a person will continue to be truthful, and strive to be truthful until he will be written down with Allah as a truthful person." And he warned against falsehood, and said: "Beware of falsehood, because falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. And a person will continue lying, and striving to lie until he is written down with Allah as a great liar." O my brother Muslims! O youth! Be true in your sayings with your brothers, and with those Non-Muslims whom you live along with - so that you will be inviters to the Religion of Islam, by your actions and in reality. So how many people there are who first entered into Islam because of the behaviour and manners of the Muslims, and their truthfulness, and their being true in their dealings.  From a tele-link given on Friday 28 July 2000CE, to an audience in the city of Birmingham, UK.

But what many people don’t know is that Jesus is an important figure in Islam, too, even though Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas. In honor of the holiday, here are six things you may not know about the role of Jesus — and his mother, Mary — in Islam: 1. Jesus, Mary, and the angel Gabriel are all in the Quran (as are Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and a bunch of other Bible characters). 2. Muslims believe that Jesus (called “Isa” in Arabic) was a prophet of God, was born to a virgin (Mary), and will return to Earth before the Day of Judgment to restore justice and to defeat al-Masih ad-Dajjal (“the false messiah”), also known as the Antichrist. All of which may sound pretty familiar to many Christians. 3. Mary (called “Maryam” in Arabic) has an entire chapter in the Quran named for her — the only chapter in the Quran named for a female figure. In fact, Mary is the only woman to be mentioned by name in the entire Quran: As noted in the new Study Quran, “other female figures are identified only by their relation to others, such as the wife of Adam and the mother of Moses, or by their title, such as the Queen of Sheba.” Mary is mentioned more times in the Quran than in the entire New Testament. The name “Jesus, son of Mary” written in Arabic calligraphy, followed by “peace be upon him.” 4. Just as with all the other prophets, including Mohammed, Muslims recite, “Peace be upon him” every time we refer to Jesus. 5. Muslims believe that Jesus performed miracles: The Quran discusses several of Jesus’s miracles, including giving sight to the blind, healing lepers, raising the dead, and breathing life into clay birds. 6. The story of Jesus’s birth as told in the Quran is also the story of his first miracle, when he spoke as an infant in the cradle and declared himself to be a prophet of God. Here’s the story: And remember Mary in the Book, when she withdrew from her family to an eastern place. And she veiled herself from them. Then We [God] sent unto her Our Spirit [the angel Gabriel], and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man. She said, “I seek refuge from thee in the Compassionate [i.e., God], if you are reverent!” He said, “I am but a messenger of thy Lord, to bestow upon thee a pure boy.” She said, “How shall I have a boy when no man has touched me, nor have I been unchaste?” He said, “Thus shall it be. Thy Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me.’” And [it is thus] that We might make him a sign unto mankind, and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter decreed. So she conceived him and withdrew with him to a place far off. And the pangs of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date palm. She said, “Would that I had died before this and was a thing forgotten, utterly forgotten!” So he called out to her from below her, “Grieve not! Thy Lord has placed a rivulet beneath thee. And shake toward thyself the trunk of the date palm; fresh, ripe dates shall fall upon thee. So eat and drink and cool thine eye. And if thou seest any human being, say, ‘Verily I have vowed a fast unto the Compassionate, so I shall not speak this day to any man.’” Then she came with him [the infant Jesus] unto her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary! Thou hast brought an amazing thing! O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not an evil man, nor was thy mother unchaste.” Then she pointed to him [Jesus]. They said, “How shall we speak to one who is yet a child in the cradle?” He [Jesus] said, “Truly I am a servant of God. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet. He has made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and has enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I live, and [has made me] dutiful toward my mother. And He has not made me domineering, wretched. Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive!” That is Jesus son of Mary— a statement of the truth, which they doubt. *****

The Chief Executive Officer, NECCI Limited, a public
relations firm, Mrs. Nkechi Ali-Balogun, has frowned at
President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to shake hands
with his female ministers after their swearing-in.
She said: “It is unethical in public relations because it
portrayed the female ministers as inferior in eyes of the general public.

“If Hillary Clinton (US presidential hopeful and former Secretary of State) is to visit Nigeria today, will our President refuse to shake hands with her in the name of religion? “If you are working for the President, you must be able to advise him in such a way that he will know that your advice is due to the office you holding which you must do with boldness in such a way that the President will earn the respect of the public.

“An expert in public relations should have told him that it is unethical even before the congratulatory hand shake which he gave to the male ministers. A public relations person must not be scared to tell him what will boost the President image and acceptability to the public”.

CharlesPhc:
Obviously they may have deducted the fine from the unreasonable, incessant hidden charges they always deduct from depositors account.

First Bank of Nig Plc (unlike other banks where I also have Accounts) is reputed for making illegal deductions from my Cooperate Account every now and then even when I'd not done any transaction. Worst still, they would say N200 debited from your account but many times when I cross checked with my previous balance sent as alert by same First Bank, I realized they'd deducted N1000 and not N200 as claimed.

Imagine if they deduct N100 each from 1m Depositor’s Accounts Nationwide every month…!!!

Sir, I will advice you open a corporate account with Stanbic IBTC Non-Interest Bank. it is COT and interest free.
