Why is CBN asking Unity to recapitalize even after recieving 70 billion naira from CBN last year. Does the bank look as if it can recapitalize, not to talk of surviving? I knew it from the begining that Unity bank will never receive the hammer, not when "Mr Fix It" has  a major stake in the bank. I told my wife more than three weeks ago, she did not believe me. Power pass power. The mallam no dey fear?

Politics / Re: N180,000 Tuition Fees For Nigerian Universities by QuardCore(m): 12:44pm On Jul 20, 2009
@ A-town
A-town:

I don't agree with all of you.
As a matter of fact, this is the only reasonable plan that i have seen from this administration.
University education is not for everybody. Free education up to secondary school stage is enough.
If you really want to go to college, then you should have the brain for it. If you do, there are bursaries and scholarships available.
The reason we have the type of college grads that we have today is because 99% of them used EXPO to get into school.
What is the point of graduating 1 million students every year when you only have 100,000 jobs available.

If you feel you really need to go to college and you are poor and not smart enough, go get a loan.
This may seem harsh but is the best thing that will happen to the education system.
Tertiary education in Nigeria should not be FREE.
I dont blame you.You sure talk like a U.S base Nigerian. Abi you be JJC? Get loan from where? Which Nigeian bank or Nigerian govt go give you loan? I can bet my last penny that you did not go through our university system, if not, you would not have responded the way you did. Our educational system is nothing to writew home about. Why do you think our degrees are not regarded outside this country except when you want to further your education(at least yo have to prove yourself).

@ Gaggi
Gaggi:

Religion isn't meant to replace tradition. Tradition simply means heritage. Surely, tradition exist in religion.
Those who don't know better see tradition as evil and retrogressive. People can't run from their history, their heritage.
These wanna be Westerner's are living a lie. The whites will still never consider you one of theirs. Immorality is on the rise because we want to discard tradition and blindly copy the white man. At the end of the day, you're neither here nor there. It's sad.
For the first time, I'm beginning to understand your line of argument. Maybe because, for the first time, you are posting without poring vituperations  at any body. You see we are all intellectual entities. If you explain your ideology without name calling, stereotyping, ethnic chauvinism, insults etc, who knows, you might just be able to convince some body about the salient  aspect of your tradition

beystwin:

This is a story for you.

As all the other African people were selling their own people as slaves (e.g. Youruba, Igbo etc.). The Oba on the other hand did not sell the Benin people as slaves, as he realised that this would bring destruction and backwardness to his people. Instead, he even bought slaves from other tribes. The only slave he sold from his own people was a Voodoo priest. His main goal was that the priest should use Voodoo to guide the slaves over there in America, in order to keep them focused so that their identity would not be lost.
Hundreds of years later, a fine gentleman has now arisen from the midst of the slave descendants, conquering his fears and demons due to the spiritual guidance of the Voodoo priest. His name is Obama, which ironically in Benin means “the Oba is good”.

LOL grin

If any body mistakingly stumbles on this thread and read your post, the way you explained the meaning of Obama, they will think you are speaking the truth. This is how fables, myths and opata have become part of our culture, that in spite of modern education, people still hold tenaciously to those norms that have put them in bondage for centuries.
Barack Obama, Sr., a Luo from Nyang’oma Kogelo, Nyanza Province, Kenya(not USA), Obama's parents met in 1960 in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, where his father was a foreign student on scholarship.
You can cross check from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama. Opata yarn, yarn opata

There you go again! Una don start to dey yarn opata on this thread. Who told you that Obama is the descendant of the voodoo priest the then Oba sent as a slave to the USA? Why not use your google wisely. Abi you dey pay to use google? Obama's aunties, brohers and relations are still in Kenya. So the voodoo piest also went to Kenya? Hmmmm opata yarn

@ Jakumo
Jakumo:

Meanwhile Nairaland's newshounds report from the ancient city of Benin that specially formed squads of Palm Fruit Police have begun felling all suspicious-looking trees found within the kingdom, and seizing all hoards of palm-fruit found in enemy hands, to be re-sold later in Lagos so as to generate funds for the prosecution of this glorious spiritual war.

In a related development, a light aircraft was shot down over Benin City at 23-hundred hours zulu time last night, and on inspection was found to be laden with enough weapons-grade RED palm-fruit to bomb the entire kingdom of Benin to kingdom come.  Ground forces with shoot-to-kill authority are as we speak scouring the area where the pilot was seen making a parachute decent, with orders to terminate him with extreme prejudice on capture.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Benin. who woke up one fine day to find themselves surrounded by deadly green acres of hostile palm trees and their satanic fruit, all bent on destroying African tradition as we know it today.  I take this opportunity to appeal to the federal government that the time has come to fire a few small nuclear warheads into the nearest palm tree plantations to Benin, just to keep the enemy on the back foot while a hasty war plan is devised by military top brass.

You dey joke over a serious matter. You think say we come here to play?

I dont know if  Seun is watching this. Its becoming messier than I had expected when I started following this threed since yesterday. If I were a moderator or have a way of h-a-c-king NL, I would block or better still, delete this thread.
@ all
Why not try and be matured about our opinions on this issue. Respect  other people's opinion. I don't think Seun's philosophy of setting this online community is what is gong on now. This should have been an avenue of exchaging ideas. I must confess, most of the things I know today, I did not learn from the four walls of university. Even with all my trainings in IT, there are a lot I was not taught by my tutors. I learnt them online and some from NL.I can see  a lot of misunderstanding here. The problem is when some body already has a mindset, he will narrow his perception, conclusions and the way he relates wit others along that line.
For Christ's sake, the Omo 'n Oba nedo, Uku akpolo akpolo, Oba Erediauwa II(sorry if there is any error in the spelings) is a living legend. Well, its sad to say that Africans don't respect their living legends, until after they've gone.
He needs to be held in high esteem. Be that as it is, I do not concour with him on the ban.
It will suprise you to know that some of his children are christans. Three of his queens are christians too. When I say christians, I don't man church goers. I mean committed, Holy Ghost Filled, tongue talking and believes in the miraculous in he Name of Jesus Christ.
There are some ceremonies in the palace, that they don't partake in. The Omon Oba has not killed them. I believe that it is because of his level of education and dynamism.
@Osisi
I don't think Gaggi is mad because people are against the edict or ban. He has said he is not in support of it. He is furious because he felt the Oba was insulted by your rhetorical question,", is the Oba an illiterate". There are certain comments you will make to certain people, it will not mean any thing, put to others, because of their status in society, asking such a question could mean that you are drawing a conclusion. The Oba is very well read, including his kids
@Gaggi
I think you should take it easy. If you display more furry, some people will in the end, not be enlightened. You know the human mind is negatively programmed. It is the poring of  vituperations that they will have on their minds instead of what you set out to achieve by educating them.

It could just be a coincidence. Or do you think the CIA were playing ludo with people's lives(most especially Americans) like they do with the 3rd world countries and former communist block? Who cracked the code? And talking about cracking codes:

@ Fada
Three or four reasons could be resonsible:
(1) Your phone's usb cable could be faulty
(2) Your phone's usb port may have developed some fault
(3) The file(The part of your PC suit) that enles your your PC to recognize your phone's firemware may have been corrupted(I cant really say whether by a virus or not).

Soution: After checking te above two hardware and symptoms still persist, try uninstalling and reinstalling the PC suit
