STELLA: NEVER LOST HER GROOVE Stella Damasus has always been a star. Even as a child, she performed in front of her family, and it didnt take a soothsayer to know that one day Stella would shine. That day began in 1996 when writer/ producer Emem Isong cast Stella to star in . Since then, Stella Damasus Aboderin has featured in more than sixty flicks which include Dangerous Twins, Midnight Scream, Engagement Night, The Bridesmaid, Games Women Play, Seduced, Behind Closed Doors, Cinderella, Missing Angel, Real Love and Red Hot to mention but very few. Stella Damasus (not Damascus) hails from Asaba, Delta state. Her surname was originally Ojukwu, but changed shortly after the civil war (her grandfather did not want to be mistaken for the infamous Ojukwu). Stella spent most of her childhood in Benin, Edo state but moved to Asaba later in life. Stella studied in Ghana, and then in University Of Lagos where she graduated top of her class. She got married to Jaiye Aboderin shortly after meeting him in a Lagos club and singing on stage with him. Jaiye died in December 2004 after a slight heart attack. Maybe besides her ravishing beauty, Stella is known for her impeccable diction and her sparkling voice. She and her late husband started a band and performed in exclusive circles, they were working on an album before his unexpected demise. Back on the block after almost twelve months away from the limelight, Stella has secured a music deal with Kingsley Ogoros label and would also appear in the Kingsley Ogoro flick The Widow, ironically she made the film before she actually became a widow. Young, gorgeous and gifted, Stella does not intend to give up her very successful movie career soon. Though placed on a ban late last year, Stella actually needed the time off to mourn her husband and put her life back together. Though she still misses him terribly, life must go on and for Stella its no holds barred. THE REAL RAMSEY NOAUH JR. Maybe you already know that Ramsey Noauh's career started alongside Pat Attah and Regina Askia in Zeb Ejiro's Ripples and from there, he moved on to become Nollywood's highest paid actor, grossing a million naira per picture. But what really do you know about this star apart from the things you've seen on T.V. Born to an Israeli father and a Nigerian mother (from Ondo State), Ramsey Noauh has been in the industry for over ten years and has appeared in more than two hundred flicks which include his heart warming dual role in Tade Ogidan's 2004's blockbuster Dangerous Twins which Ramsey admits was his most challenging role as an actor. He has also appeared in Heart And Soul, Handsome, Real Love, London Boy, London Lovers, Coming To South Africa, Hard Rain among several others. Ramsey's good looks have had him play several 'lover boy' roles, but his performance in 'Rip Off' and 'Dangerous Twins' gave the world a different impression of this talented star. Outside stardom, Ramsey is happily married with children and has been for over five year. Though he complains that fame does not allow him to enjoy his family and it could be extremely difficult, it is the big price he has to pay. While on location he misses his family and feels guilty that his kids don't get to see him too often especially because he grew up with a single parent and would not want the same fate for his kids. Ramsey enjoys hanging out with his friends, and his favorite hang out spot is 'Ojez' in Surulere, Lagos. He likes to keep his clothing casual (he loves T-Shirts, jeans, trainers) because he likes to feel free and liberal, but he also dresses down (formal dressing) when he dims it fit. He is crazy about BMW's but also loves his Mercedes Benz Though late last year, Mr. Noauh's name was included in the list of Banned stars by the Marketers Association Of Nigeria (MAN), until early this year he still appeared in various flicks which include Paradise To Hell. Mr. Noauh has returned to television where he initially started and now appears in 'Soul Food' (Nigeria). He has also discovered his music talents and is working on an album, but in the meantime, he would appear in the all star musical extravaganza being put together by Tade Ogidan. Ban or no ban, Ramsey Noauh is a star that would continue to shine. INI EDO: NIGERIA'S SWEETHEART She's hot! That's probably the first thing anybody who sees Ini Edo for the first time thinks. True, Ini Edo's striking beauty and luscious figure have made her a prominent name in Nollywood, but way beyond that, Ini's charisma in front of the camera is probably what has taken her to the heights of Nollywood. Born Iniobong Edo, Ini Edo hails from Akwa Ibom. The 23 year old literary student of the University Of Calaber made her first contact with the movie industry when she attended auditions in the year 2000. She was offered a role as an extra which she refused; talk about knowing your worth and accepting nothing less. Two years later (2002), she got a major role in 'Thick Madam' starring alongside Eucharia Anunobi- Ekwu and hit it big when she starred in 'Worlds Apart' and hasn't looked back ever since then. Popularly touted to be 'the next Genevieve', Ini Edo would rather not be compared to anyone she'd rather build a career of her own based on her own considerable talents. Ini was nominated in the best actress category at the maiden African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) held earlier this year- this goes to show how hot she has become. Ini Edo's ability to portray almost anything has definitely made her a favorite on the Nollywood screen. From the Princess in Never End, to the house maid in Worlds Apart, to the greedy rich girl in Pretty Angels and the over ambitious second wife in Red Light, her roles have been as diverse as her talents. Ini has featured in a variety of movies and this year propelled to the top of the producers most wanted list she is now arguably one of the highest paid Nigerian actresses. Ini's personal life has been a media magnet. She has been rumored to have been involved with quite a number of showbiz and movie personalities; but then when you are young, famous and beautiful, you are bound to set a lot of tongues watering- sorry wagging. So give it up for Ini Edo, Nollywood's Sweetheart. And here's hoping weight won't become 'too much' of an issue with her like it is with those that came before. Rita Dominic: Discovering the girl next door. She was born on the 12th of July 1975, and according to many witnesses who watched over her as she grew up, she has always been a lover of the arts, entering into dance competitions and also an avid lover of music. She later developed a deeper appreciation of the arts and went on to the University of Port-Harcourt where this love and her own talents matured into something that all appreciate today. Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Waturuocha, known widely as Rita Dominic has in all areas lived up to her billing as one of Nigeria's foremost actresses. She first appeared on screens in such TV programs as Children's Variety and Junior Opinion. As time went by and her profile grew, she started receiving invitations from the most successful directors in the Nigerian Film industry leading to her first movie appearance in A Time To Kill (1998). From then till now, Rita hasn't looked back and has won the respect and hearts of colleagues, fans, rivals, critics and the press alike. Rita is one of those actresses who can truly capture a role and breathe life into a script. To her credit, she has played many diverse roles and has escaped being stereotyped into a particular character/role unlike some of her not so lucky colleagues. Her appearances with Jim Iyke have formed what would go down in history as Nollywood's greatest duo. They starred together in countless pictures and had so much chemistry together on screen the world believed they were in a relationship. When the ban came, Rita was not even in the initial list- this was surprising considering her high earning counterparts were almost all involved. This was mostly because Rita has always stayed away from doing more than she can handle. Recently, the love scene in Total Control caused a lot of stirs. Many were convinced Rita was nude in that scene. Nollywood is known for unconvincing love scenes, scenes where people after making love get out of bed in their cloths. The scene from Total Control changed that. The scene was so real many people's eyes popped. Michael Jaja used the camera well and a brilliant Rita Dominic helped make it possible. Some of Rita's most recent works include Faces Of Africa, Signs Of Time and Total Control. A true gem to Nollywood in particular and Nigeria in general, Rita is definitely a role model worth emulating for upcoming Nigerian actresses. Viva Rita.

CELEBRATING OMOTOLA When Omotola Jalade Ekehinde made her debut about ten years ago in the emotional drama 'Mortal Inheritance' alongside Fred Amata, it was obvious a star was born. Her portrayal of a sickle cell anemia patient soon won her countless awards and quick recognition in a growing Nollywood. Since then, Omotola has appeared in a good number of flicks and stolen the hearts of countless film enthusiasts with her good looks and alluring persona. Born into the Jalade family about twenty six years ago, Omotola went to elementary school in Lagos and eventually proceeded to Command Kaduna for a secondary education. Shortly after graduation, she decided to pursue the 'not so glamorous' life of a Nigerian actress. Married with children, Omotola has been able to maintain a trim figure that has actually had her play a diverse number of roles. She has played mother to Grace Amah, girlfriend to Jim Iyke, wife to Chidi Mokeme and sister to Rita Dominic among several roles. Omotola also took the challenge of playing dual roles in Omotola is known as one of Nollywood's finest, though she was ban on several allegations, with a good number of her colleagues, it has in no way deemed her shine. Omotola has appeared on stage and has decided to spread her wings and also delve into music, her debut album should hit record stores soon. Omotola is also involved in a lot of humanitarian and charitable originations, she runs a youth program where she empowers and encourages the young. Her next flick would be a sequel to the pretty sensational Adim Williams 'Queen Of Hasso Rock', 'Fall Of The Queen Of Hasso Rock

Most Nollywood stars dream of making it to Hollywood one day, while many have got what it takes, NFN picks the first fifteen, people who have the language, the looks and the attitude to look and act Hollywood and if given the chance would live it up like they were born there. GENEVIEVE NNAJI: She quickly became the highest paid Nigerian actress and an idol for several young girls. Even in her ban, Genevieve has continued to cultivate her image and today she looks and feels completely Hollywood. Great diction, great acting and great looks, Genevieve was born to do this. KATE HENSHAW-NUTAL She was once a beauty queen so now, as a mother and in her early thirties, Kate Henshaw still has what it takes to captivate. She was the only prominent Nollywood star picked to star in the MNET Doctors' Quarters. She is also one of the few Nollywood stars that does not churn out countless films in months. DESMOND ELLIOT Desmond is definitely good looking, one quality alot of Hollywood leads possess. But besides his great looks, Desmond Elliot is a convincing actor. Probably loved more by women than men, he feels alot like Nigeria's version of Morris Chestnut or maybe Sharma Moore. SAM DEDE A teacher of the arts, Sam Dede is probably one of the most convincing acts Nollywood has ever seen. A brilliant actor, Dede feels alot like Nollywood's Deniro. FEMI BRAINARD Femi Brainard has the looks and the diction. He is also a wonderful actor. He has featured in various Yoruba flicks, but his most prominent English roles include in Dangerous Twins, The Two Brothers and B4 The Vows. OLU JACOBS Not only is Olu Jacobs Hollywood Standard, he has also featured in several Hollywood productions which include the classic Dogs Of War and Ashanti among several other flicks. DAKORE EGBUSON Dakore has lived in London and hosted on TV. Her charm and charisma go far beyond the silver screen. Well spoken and able to translate various roles, Dakore's charm is alluring, something Hollywood stars should possess. SEGUN ARINZE Segun Arinze has been around for a while and hopefully would be around for another while. Even though Mr. Arinze does not define beauty he has still been able to capture the hearts of his female audience. He has played some of Nollywood's best baddies, and has also done a wonderful job as a good guy several times. YEMI BLAQ In Hollywood, Wesley Snipes proved it took more than great looks to be a lead man and besides his various action roles featured in several romantic leads including Jungle Fever. Yemi Blaq is not drop dead gorgeous but has the intensity and the diction that definitely capture and captivate the audience. LIZ BENSON It is very hard to believe Liz Benson is a mother and in her 40's. She has lived a glamorous life like most Hollywood stars, she has also charmed millions of film watchers. Age has not slowed her down. She sounds Hollywood, she looks Hollywood and she acts Hollywood. She's definitely Hollywood material if they ever needed a middle aged but very sexy lead female. RICHARD MOFE DAMIJO RMD as he is popularly called has featured in an international film, 'Michael Powers', that is as close to Hollywood as many would get. RMD has been in the industry from the beginning. First he captured our hearts on T.V, then in Home Videos. With boyish good looks, RMD is a convincing actor and knows his English. BIMBO AKINTOLA Even with a slightly bulky frame, Bimbo is a screen goddess. And since size has never been an issue (Queen Latifah), Bimbo could fit into any Hollywood production without problems. JOKE SILVA Wife of Screen idol Olu Jacobs, Joke is a screen idol herself. When most young actresses are asked who inspires them, they quickly mention Joke. In at her age, Joke is graceful and very captivating. She is an asset Hollywood definitely missed out on. RAMSEY NOUAH JR. [b]Ramsey Nouah grew in this industry. When he first started, many said he wasn't very convincing as an actor even though he was very good looking, but with time, Ramsey has taken roles and given deliveries that have impressed many. Great diction, great looks and a great actor, what else does Hollywood ask for?B] http://www.nigerianfilms.net/hollywoodstandard.htm
