An unfolding drama is currently taking place at the Benue state House of Assembly complex. The Assembly members this morning resumed for their legislative duties only to be stopped by police officers who laid seige in front of the complex, preventing them from gaining access.

The lawmakers took turns to scale the fence to enter the complex.


This development is coming few days after the state governor, Samuel Ortom, defected from APC to PDP. Recall that on Tuesday July 24th, the former speaker of the House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, was impeached. A new speaker is expected to be elected today

An 18-year-old secondary school leaver has been reportedly shot dead by a policeman in Beji community, Niger State.

Abdulkarim Labaran Mohammed was killed when policemen and members of the vigilante group were trying to save a suspected ritualist from mob action.

The suspected ritualist was said to have touched another man who claimed that his manhood had disappeared because of the act and raised an alarm.

The youths among them were said to have descended on the suspect and that concerned persons had alerted the police in Maikunkele Division, which dispatched its men to the scene.

On arrival at the market, the team of policemen assisted by some vigilance members rescued the suspect, put him in their patrol van but that the mob insisted on meting out justice on him.

According reports, during the ensuing commotion, one of the policemen tried to shoot into the air to stop the mob but a stray bullet hit the deceased who died instantly.

The incident triggerred a protest by the youths who blocked the main access road which linked Minna with Zungeru.

Confirming the incident, State Police Command spokesman, DSP Muhammed Abubakar, said it was not certain whether one of their men was responsible for the death of Mohammed.

He said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of Federal Medical Centre Bida, while the man who claimed to have lost his manhood was also on admission for observation and treatment at the hospital.

Some officers of the Nigerian Air Force, were, last week Wednesday, seen assaulting one of their colleagues at SRS junction, Markurdi, Benue State.

It was gathered that they accused the victim of being part of those who killed a fellow officer, a day earlier. The accused was later forced into their van and driven away.

An estate agent has absconded after duping over 60 prospective tenants of N300k each in Ifako Agege, Lagos.

There was drama, today, after they all met at the house, ahead of the scheduled day of moving into their respective self-contained rooms.

The agent, who owns Lanrak Construction Nig. Ltd, made each of them pay N300k while the house was under construction and told them they would be able to move in by the end of July.

They, however, got the shock of their lives, today, after they all met at the building and discovered that he told over 60 of them the same thing.

Chivalry is one thing but forcing people to do things for you is simply bullying. And that's exactly what a very rude woman was filmed doing on a train.

The woman, in yellow, is seen attacking a male passenger because he refused to give up his seat for her. In the video, the woman is seen as she drags the man from his seat, then when he refuses to let her have his seat, she then proceeds to sit on his lap.

"Get off of me," the man warns.

"Make me!" she tosses back at him and continued sitting on his lap.

She then stands and says, "You're supposed to have some respect for women."

She continues to attack him verbally and physically. When the man didn't rise to the bait, she picks a magazine, believed to be the one he had been reading before she attacked him, and she throws it in his face.

Other commuters looked at them as the drama played out but no one interfered.

An ATM fraudster met his Waterloo, this morning, at Ramat ECTS transport park Benin, Edo state.

It was gathered that the suspect specializes in defrauding women by hanging around bank premises, pretending to be of help to them.

He, however, ran out of luck, today, when he exchanged the ATM card of the lady pictured in the photo, and handed her a fake one.

The lady figured out it wasn't her ATM card and raised an alarm. When the suspect was nabbed, a total of 32 ATM cards and N80,000 were found on him. He has since been handed over to the police.

A 19-year-old boy, Junior Omo Shaba, has killed his girlfriend and dumped her corpse by a roadside along Siluko road in the outskirts of Benin, Edo State.

The deceased, Matilda Odiri, 18, was said to have been stabbed to death inside the room of her boyfriend at 2, Akugbe Street, Off Sikuko road, Ogida, last Saturday.

She was said to have gone to the boy’s house where she was expected to pass the night. An allegation of infidelity levelled by the suspect against the visitor, was said to have degenerated into a fierce argument.

In a counter-accusation, the girl was said to have also expressed resentment over her boyfriend’s returning home late as he was already seeing another girl. In a fit of anger, he allegedly stabbed her with a knife in her right breast.

Shaba was said to have fled to Aduwawa area of the Edo state, to evade arrest, but his furious father gave him up. He was arrested that same day by policemen.

The Edo State Police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor said the suspect confessed that he murdered Matilda and dumped her body on the street to cover up the deed.

Nwabuzor noted that the suspect admitted to having killed his girlfriend with a knife which she used to peel some oranges they took that night.

At least two persons have been confirmed dead and one injured after a train averted a collusion with an abandoned commercial bus.

The incident occurred Friday morning at Pen Cinema, Agege, Lagos Mainland. It was gathered that the three victims were sitting atop the train when it veered upon sighting the bus from afar.

Witnesses said the deceased fell on the rail line and was shredded by the moving train, while the other two fell by the bus, losing some body parts. The train was said to have continued its journey, oblivious of the casualties.

Irked by the incident, hoodlums, it was gathered, set the bus ablaze as onlookers rushed the injured to nearby Orile-Agege General Hospital.

A Nigerian man has confronted his dad over what he termed ill treatment.

In a video made by the aggrieved man, he accused his dad of conniving with their stepmom to eject them from the house he got from the government when he was still married to their mom.

He revealed that his dad has made many death threats against him and his siblings and they have had enough of his antics after exercising patience for so long.

Bukola Adeoye, one of the robbery suspects who escaped from the detention of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Ondo State Police Command, has been gunned down by the Police.

Adeoye, notoriously known as 'Agbara', that is 'power', was killed during a gun duel with the Police on Wednesday in a robbery operation at Ore area of Ondo State.

The culprit was among the robbery suspects who escaped from detention weeks back.  

Gbenga Adeyanju, Commissioner of Police in the state, confirmed Adeoye's death while parading his dead body before reporters in Akure. 

He noted that the culprit was arrested with seven other criminal suspects who were also involved in armed robbery case in the state.

"On the 17th day of July, 2018 at about 0900hrs, Detectives from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Akure, received information that the escaped armed robbery suspects from SARS office, Akure, one Bukola Adeoye A.K.A. Agbara ‘M’ and one Rotimi Adeyeye ‘M’ were taking cover in the house of one Loveth Ogbu ‘F’.

"A team of detectives swooped in on the said Loveth Ogbu ‘f’ and arrested her, on their interrogation, she confessed that the escaped armed robbery suspects were in Ore.

"Based on the confession, detectives mobilized to Ore and arrested one Felix Eteti ‘M' aged 27 years of Ebenezer Street, Sabo, Ore, who was a member of the gang."

He added that the command received a new distress call from the members of the public that armed robbers were operating freely at Sabo area in Ore without being challenged.

"So, detectives trailed them to the Christ Foundation Primary School in Ore and on sighting them, the robbers opened fire and engaged them in a gun duel. One of the armed robbery suspects, one Bukola Adeoye, aka 'agbara', who has been on our wanted list, sustained gunshot injury on his right leg," he said.  

He later disclosed that the culprit was immediately rushed down to the General Hospital in Ore where he died few hours after been admitted. 

Accoring to him, one Mr. Gbenga Babatimi of Sabo area in Ore, who was earlier robbed by Adeoye and members of his gang the previous night, also identified the suspected criminal.

The Police boss said the other suspects alive would be arraigned in court to face prosecution over their atrocities.

Items recovered from the culprits include a cut-to-size gun, three cutlasses, one empty shell and four live cartridges.

After Ruggedman called out Yomi Shogunle, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, claiming that he shared a fake story about him, Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus has written to him.

Yomi Shogunle had shared a photo of Ruggedman with a Federal SARS officer and alleged that Ruggedman, who has been very vocal in his call to end SARS, has now turned around to join those calling for SARS to be reformed rather than to be scrapped.

Calling the ACP out, Ruggedman was incensed when he saw the photo being used to pass the wrong message, so he fired back and reiterated that he is all for #EndSARS.

Reacting to his action after he tagged her in his call out post, PPRO, Dolapo wrote to him that he shouldn’t be partial in his judgement and rather chose a side.

She wrote:

I came across this and I wasn’t surprised! Firstly I didn’t expect @ruggedybaba to tag me having taken into cognisance the fact that in a long while he has stopped tagging me in anything police matter!
However for the fact that my attention has been drawn to this matter by way of tagging…… I need to let @ruggedybaba know that with your hobnobbing with police and seeking attention with officers and men of the police force and making it public by way of postins on social media will send a signal that you have converted from #endsars to #reformsars because it’s expected you might have been made to understand all efforts been put in place by the leadership of the force to reformsars (and of course you have demonstrated that by showing some of the efforts unknowingly to you… example is the branding of the uniform for the department) For you to still come out to say “I stand with #endsars until it is reformed” somehow looks contradictory and confusing! You will remember vividly that your first encounter with police was when your younger brother was arrested?! You remember I received your call through @9iceofficial Who informed me about the incident and I quickly placed a call across to you and not only was your brother released, all other men randomly picked with him were also released on my instruction to the DPO! since then we both agreed we are going to work and we have been working together to curb their excesses until you decided to #endsars (we both know why) but anyway no one eats his cake and have it!!! If what you stand for is #endsars let’s know and if it’s #reformsars let’s know……going forth and back will confuse anyone…. stakeholders on #endsars are engaging the police to ensure proper things are been done without too much of showing it off on social media!!
