The police in Lagos have finally arrested a fleeing 32-year-old woman for pouring a half-bucket of boiling water on her partner, Ike Akachi, and causing him grievous bodily harm on May 29, 2018. Joy Imeribe, the accused, said in a statement to the police that the incident happened following a quarrel with Mr Akachi at their home in Ijesha. According to the police report, Ms Imeribe had been a victim of domestic violence from the man. According to Imeribe: “We’ve been in the relationship for 13 years. Although, we are not married, I have four male children for the man.” According to Ms Imeribe, she had been experiencing ill-treatment from the man for a long time, forcing her to leave their home. She said she rented an apartment at the Anthony area of Lagos and moved out with their children but Mr Akachi came to plead that they return home. After returning home, Ms Imeribe said the maltreatment continued. “What caused the huge fight was the fact that on the day before, I went to Yaba market to buy Okirika clothes (second-hand clothing) to sell at Aswani the following day. On getting home, he asked where I was coming from and I responded but he told me to go back to where I was coming from. I didn’t answer and this led to a fight that started around 4p.m. He beat me, tied me to the bed, dragged my hair, dragged me in the house and locked the door, this lasted for a long time. In the morning, he started with the fight again, I am one month pregnant. So, I defended myself by pouring hot water on him.” Imohimi Edgal, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, said victims of domestic violence should always speak out to avoid incidents such as this. The Presidency on Monday subtly lashed out at former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida. President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, described Obasanjo and Babangida as bad and ugly. Onochie, who shared a photograph of Buhari, Obasanjo and Babangida, however described the current president as good. The photograph showed Buhari standing alongside Obasanjo and Babangida, in that order. @kikiotolu.com A football financier arrested in Lagos for shaving teenagers’ pubic hair for suspected ritual, as the boys fell sick. The Lagos State police has arrested the financier of Magico Football Academy, Agege, Victor Achidume, for allegedly shaving the pubic hair of 5 teenage boys. According to reports, Achidume, 43, was apprehended after one of the children identified as Oluwaseun fell sick and told his parents the suspect had shaved his pubic hair six times. The boy said the last time Achidume shaved his armpit and private part was on May 9, adding that he usually warned him not to tell his parents any time he carried out the act. Oluwaseun said: “We do not belong to his team. We met him during a football match and he invited us to his house. He used to talk about football to us and he used to dash us N100 or N200. I went with my friends the first time. He asked me if I had shaved my armpit and private part before and I said no. And then, he shaved it. Then, he said I should not tell anyone and that I should be coming to his place to collect N100.” Another child, Oluwadare Ifeoluwa, 15, who said the suspect asked him if he had shaved his pubic hair before, revealed that he left him after answering in the affirmative. Ifeoluwa said: “The man used to give us money every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. When we come, he will tell some people to come Tuesday and Thursday. The man shaved Oluwaseun Salaudeen’s hair six times and he shaved Damilare’s armpit twice. He told us that no one should know he usually asked such questions. We are not in his academy.” But the suspect denied the allegation, insisting that the kids have never been to his house. Achidume said he was shocked at their allegation, adding that he only helped the children by giving them morning regularly. He said: “I told the mothers of these children that I have three kids and that if I did anything wrong to their children, let me lose mine before my eyes. But, if I did not, their children will die before their eyes. The women should tell their children to confess how all these came about.
