thatigboman: u are very observant. Kidd was not lifting the beam before stating. He stood on the beam, picked a ball and continued Honestly out of the two of them, kidd was the undeserving winner. |

thatigboman: exactly. Both of them were fraudulent I hope biggie looks into it. Neo was touching the board outside the allowed area. Kidd was not following the rules of picking the balls, putting it back in the box and then picking another ball. He was rather picking the balls around him while still on the board. |

Living in Wales has been different than what I thought. Reading reviews on Google isn't the best. So far, it's been very good here, rains everytime and the people are polite and always smile and say hello when you pass them by. Rent is cheap or can be high too depending, as low as £480 for two bed apartment. When I first came, k was trying basically all the nice food I can find in the store but 96% of them I had to dispose...so right now, my daily food is toast and burger, chips and chicken, rice and my little swallow remaining . My hubby and child have adapted to their food but it's hard for me..esp the baked beans gosh!! I wish I can adapt to their meal oo, I don lean lol. |

Bluetherapy: Yes that is pretty normal. You're a nurse so there's nothing called public holidays for you. In fact you will work either on Christmas or new year. The only thing is that you will get holiday pay for the hours you work (if your employer pays that).
Say if tou work a day shift on a public or bank holiday, you get paid the holiday allowance for that day. If you work night, you only get paid for the hours before the end of that holiday.
Follow me back.
It might actually be a good offer that you're ignoring in my opinion. Every care home as far as I know often have a clause of paying them if you leave before 3 years. However most people don't leave except in rear circumstances.
I will advice you have a chat with the manager stating what is giving you cold feet with them. Something in the line of.... while I understand you're out to protect the interest of your company, I feel I am being pinned down with having to pay 10k should I decide on leaving. Not that I plan to, but from my perspective, it is important for me to enjoy where I work and the people I work with without the sense of feeling trapped. I do understand that the norm is for the amount to decrease with the more time I spend with the company. I would be open to discussing this extensively with you to find an alignment for the both of us.
In the end, having this chat wouldn't hurt you since already turned them down. And probably you won't be the first to do so.
It is fairly normal to counter offers here in abroad. Because in the long run, you're both doing eachother a favour. But that naija mentality dey always make us short-change ourselves. Wow this is enlightening. Thank you so much. I really don't know other care homes have such clause. Anyways, I told you the manager emailed that i should feel free to contact her if anything changes. I did that this afternoon and it's positive. She wants a video chat before issuing the COS. Reading through this post now, I will bring up the issue of £10k and ask her about the annual leave during the chat tomorrow. Indeed, naija mentality is a factor. They are really nice that I began to wonder if dem dey cajole me Note: I know I will have to work on public holidays, what I was referring to by "no holiday" was "annual leave". Its not there on the contract. Guess, the solution is to ask questions. |

Bluetherapy: To be honest,. Their pay is quite good albeit the standard holiday pay thing.
Did you say that there's no holiday? Or if you work on holidays you get standard pay? Yeah, their pay is good. According to the contract, I am required to work UK banks and public holidays. I guess that means there is no holiday BTW, The manager emailed me few hours ago, telling me to feel free to contact her if I change my mind(of course I didn't tell her the exact reason I withdrew my application). |

Bluetherapy: What you did is right. The no holiday pay is the height of it . What is their base salary/ hourly rate? I understand that some care homes pay higher hourly rate and don't pay for breaks
And you're also correct about the flexible working hours NHS offers. I understand that this is particularly important for people with kids. I doubt that lesser work load thing. About the career progression, yes and no. If it is career progression in relation to money, then no It will take years to earn 40k+ with NHS.
BTW, what do you have want to you career progression to do in Nursing? When you hwve your ILR, nurses can easily move to agency nursing. More money like 28£ hourly or upto 40+£ when it is a late notice booking and more flexibility. You pick when you want to work. The only but is the fact that you don't know where your next shift will be. Hi. Sorry I got busy. Their basic pay is £18 pounds (£13.50 before pin). After the probation, it will be increased to £20 and £22 for weekday night duties and £24 for weekend nights. You are right with the rest of your post. Career advancement na money matter oo. Lol @browncheeks thank you so much for the tips |
