IGBOSON1: There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of Indians in Nigeria. How come we don’t see them protest against racism, illegal detention and extortion from Nigerian security personnel? Instead, what we find is Nigerian protesting against these same crimes not only in India but in Nigeria also!
In Nigeria Indians and Lebanese live the good life!
Makes you think doesn’t it? The Indians are not hardened, suicidal drug traffickers and fraudsters soiling the moral fabric of their host country. Big difference. When the pigs stop oinking and messing up the place, the farmer will stop chasing them to the slaughter. |

LaEvilIMiss: It is profitable to be wise as you and others of your like-minded selves continue to push. a stitch in time saves nine - better to be late than never - a small puddle on the road will become a gully one day. We continue to ignore the root disease of the #Endsars protest and instead concentrate on the symptoms. It is like Malaria in Nigeria - we will prefer to enrich the pharmaceutical companies rather then ensuring good drainages and moving bodies of water. it costs far less to do this than manufacture and supply and import drugs.. but why do you think this is so
1: Are you aware that Nigeria is facing a Food crisis (The largest producer of rice in Africa is also the largest importer of rice on the continent) 2: 85% of our IGR is used to service existing debt interests not even paying it off little-by-little 3: Our population is estimated to hit 200 million in 2021 and yet in 2016 the BNS estimated that 60 million children of school age are at home 4: 2.8% was dedicated to healthcare in 2018 and 2.4% of the budget for education - guess how much was budgeted for critical infrastructure and how much was allocated to Governance? 5: You will be excused to think that "looters" are a bunch of co-ordinated #Endsars gangs - they are desperately impoverished Nigerians who have no jobs, no money and no hope while their rulers enjoy whatever means that can feed the majority
Your words indicate that you are many of those who live in comfortable bubbles - ignorant of the cause and effect of bad governance. one day the pot will boil over after placing your hands over it to hide the troubles underneath ITbomb: "And the slave was happy that the master flogged him 7 times instead of 12 times the last time he woke up after 4am" Princedapace: So, what did we learn? Never to protest in this life?
Was there no protest under previous regimes? So, why is this one different?
Come on, you guys should stop making it to look like citizens should be suffering and smiling and never speak up. It is better we simply accept that we are running a military regime. Of course I'm aware of these damning statistics, but I'm also aware that these are upward trends compared to what we had even before this dispensation. If we had been enjoying any semblance of good governance in the past, we definitely wouldn't have such horrible stats across multiple sectors as you'll agree. The point here is not merely absolving the FG of blame as some simpletons here have already concluded (which would be senseless as the buck stops with them regardless of origin), but sounding a necessary note of caution against cutting our nose to spite our faces in a bid to drive home our legitimate points. This is moreso as the protest has been seen to be hijacked by separatists, disgruntled politicians and street criminals in pursuit of their own criminal agenda (did you hear Nnamdi Kanu's #endsars audio?)... all leading to avoidable loss of lives and property. What I'd recommend is putting up a united front to pile sustained pressure on the government to deliver on its manifesto including delivery timelines, but this can only be achieved constructively without being unnecessarily stand-offish and hostile as this will always put the government and its myriad of supporters on the defensive, hampering objectivity and denying us that critical unity (from North to South) necessary to effectively keep the FG on its toes.lexy2014: Lovely... absolutely top class. The season for accountability is upon us. May we never see the needless killings and destruction that hallmarked the recent protests. Fahdiga: If this vengeful government doesn't want to toe the path of peace then they shouldn't complain when another uprising starts and this time will be more devastating than the last one At the end it is the hungry masses that suffer the destroyed infrastructure, burnt transport buses, high food prices & movement restrictions and not the officials insulated from the chaos in their air-conditioned mansions. We ought to have learnt a thing or two. It is profitable to be wise. |

Soldiers are regimented with units known to human. The ipob terrorist killers best know their identities and if you weren't twice as daft as your moniker sounds you'd realise I mustn't know their specific individual identities to know it happened, just like you didn't have to know the identities of destroyed Biafran soldiers to have known the civil war occurred. |
Politics › Re: Here is why we need Electoral College in Nigeria by QuotaSystem: 12:18pm On Nov 05, 2020 |
Iolo: @OP, quite the opposite. unfortunately the electoral college is one of the huge downsides of US elections. No other constitutional democracy that I know of runs this model.
California for example has 55 electoral votes, Texas and New York have almost 30 each. A president needs only 270 votes. This has led to the emergence of so-called swing votes / states. A democratic presidential candidate will only focus on areas where he is sure of winning rather than campaign to the entire country. I.e. places like Wyoming and Alaska have little electoral value (only 3 electoral votes) so there’s no point campaigning there.
So imagine a Nigeria where the presidential candidate only visits some states to campaign. States like Bayelsa, Taraba, Jigawa don’t get any attention cause they have little electoral votes.
This will result in far less representation in Nigeria as a candidate only needs to win the most populated states to cross the line. It also means you can win an election without achieving the majority vote in 2/3 of the states which will it constitution requires for fairness. Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face. |

The South East have 5 States with 15 senators. The lowest in the country.
How Can Southern Nigerians make change? Lies. The NW has 6 states like every other region except the SE. You don't have to lie to make a point. |

Psylas2: You cannot get that with this Nigerian system, the 1999 constitution is our biggest problem and it was from the military. They gave more power to North West and they are using that to hold Nigeria hostage. How was more power given to the North West? The dominance of Arewa is simply due to her unity which enables her take formidable political positions. The day the NW & NE stop being united (like the SW & SE) will be the end of Northern overriding influence and that day is never coming. |

Positivepoint: Blame igbos are u kidding me. Are the people who organise the coup not igbos?
When they planned to kill elected leaders of other tribes did they kill any igbo leader?
The person that took over was he not igbo?
Where the coup plotters and killers not pardoned.
Most of them where killed at the battlefield fighting for biafra against Nigeria.
Why was federal system that was practiced abolished by igbo leaders and replaced by unification decree which concentrated power in the center.
The british intelligence suggested that the coup was planned immediately when the igbos failed thier bid to become the leaders of Nigeria.
The slogan was take it by the gun since we lack the number to take it by vote.
We most rule them all after all it's our destiny. This mentality is still evident till today. Don't mind them. The dream of the Igbo has always been to wield the type of dominance that Hausa Fulanis wield in Nigeria, so you can imagine their bitter frustration of being unable to back to back. Sardauna called out their domineering behaviour perfectly, it is why they have the nerves to rename Oyigbo to Obigbo and talk down on the SS minorities. They will sit out this Buhari administration whether anyone likes it or not, and we will then decide to restructure through the proper channels according to terms acceptable to everyone. |

Eastlink: Truth be told IPOB became popular all thanks to President Buhari. No one gave a listening ear to the scammer Kanu until Buhari made IPOB his personal problem.
By the singular act of arresting the Londoner, Buhari help gave the Biafran agitation a face lift. How he foolishly allowed his advisers convince him to hunt Nnamdi Kanu, as well as shoot at IPOB protesters is another topic entirely.
Morever, Igbo leaders have never being known to support terrorism, unlike your leaders in the north. In the IPOB issue, history will always vindicate the Igbo leaders. IPOB is currently ostracized in the east. But this cannot be said in the north. Arewa leaders are known to morally, physically, and financially oversee the mass killings of their people by bandits, herdsmen and Boko-Haram. You lie. Igbo Elders actively fanned and gave breastmilk to the murderous terrorist monster ipob has become. Who stood surety for Kanu? Shekau or a serving Senator and Igbo leader by the name of Abaribe? Who colluded with the likes of Awkuzu SARS that led to several Igbo corpses in the Ezu river? Get off your paper horse and don't fool yourself my friend. |

I saw your response to Igbochief001 where you urged restructuring.
Igbos like me have been calling for an end to marginalisation by advocating political restructuing, just as some of our leaders have been doing for decades.
Any sensible person will know that should there be restructuring eventually, its as a result of pressure and stress that IPOB has given the nigerian govt through a call for Biafra, so they will rather settle for a middle ground
If per-adventure Biafra doesnt come, the least we settle for is proper restructuring which reasonable people have being yearning for decades.
