Hello, all members of the teHN committee, and all other nairalanders.
This is Ubong, feeling at a loss for words in response to your help and generosity.

Today I received a gift of N296,000 from Nairaland Charity, courtesy of all you good people. Wow... to say that I am elated would be a gross understatement. I still find it difficult to grasp the fact that people that I do not know, and vice-versa, actually rose up for my sake, to see to it that I pull through this illness successfully. It's situations like this that strengthen my belief that there is a God or Divine Being that looks out for us, if we subscribe to Him( and sometimes, even if we don't).

Now, at least, I can pay for the radiotherapy and several post-therapy consultation sessions, and take proper care of myself, especially during the six-week duration of the radiotherapy.

A friend of mine once told me that Nigerians may be considered to be "so, so"( "so, so" here representing words too derogatory to be repeated on this forum), but that she would not change the love that she had for them, because she believed that inside of every human being there was a beautiful person, regardless of what was on the outside. Now, I realize that the nairaland forum comprises everybody from every part of the world, but this gesture has boosted my hope in a great Nigeria, my love for Nigerians and for all of humanity in general. May blessings and favors encompass you all every single minute of your lives. For, as you all have sown beneficial things into my life, so also shall you all reap success and fulfillment in all your endeavors.

I'll be sure to keep everybody posted on my progress.
I sincerely thank you all for making this happen. You truly are friends indeed.

The rate at which marriages/relationships collapse now is almost assuming an acceptable celebrity status in our society.

In few years time, people will be throwing divorce parties, invites will be sent out calling friends to celebrate their divorce anniversaries. Won a mu aso-ebi, hire a hall, won a pe musician....even a question like "..so when are you getting divorced?" will be commonplace.

If u know u can't handle the weight and pressure of marriage, please remain single.

If u don't know what marriage is all about, please remain single until u do.

If u are getting married because of the things u desire or hope to gain from the other person, or to satisfy your fantasies, please remain single.

Don't get married out of desperation because u think u are getting too old.

Don't just get married because of the pressure being mounted on u by your families. They are not the one getting married- you are!

You desire a successful home but your choice of friends are those whose marriages have collapsed. It is so simple- they'll make u drink from their poisoned chalice. Once that happens, your marriage is on a process of dying a slow death.

Be very mindful of where u go seeking for advice.

Guys, if u know u can't stay responsible please remain single until you mature. There's no way u can abandon the care of your family at the expense of your lifestyle. They are your priority and everything else including u comes last.
You are the teacher, the guide, the bodyguard, the spiritual leader, the role model- u are not a deity. Don't expect to be worshipped! You need respect, earn it by being responsible!

'My life was hell': Drag queen sues for $20million after being sent to women's prison and 'sexually assaulted in the showers'

Refers to himself as 'she' and wears wigs and women's clothing, but still has male anatomy

A female impersonator has launched a $20million lawsuit for damages after he was jailed in a prison for women.

Carla Brenner said his life became a living hell once the other prisoners realized he was a man.

The 52-year-old drag queen said he was assaulted and abused by the other prisoners when they realized he had still had male anatomy.

Despite dressing like a woman Brenner maintains that he was still a man and has not undergone a sex change.

He claims he was examined by two sets of doctors - but because he looked like a woman was sent to a female facility.

‘The big hair, the makeup - I am an entertainer, a drag queen,’ he said.

That basically means a man who enjoys dressing as a woman. It's not a woman. I have no intention on being a woman - never, ever have.’

Brenner's problems began when he was convicted of felony theft in 2011 and jailed for three months in Nashville, Tennessee.

Brenner said he was examined by the Metro Health Department in Nashville and he said it was obvious that he was a man.

‘How can you not tell a vagina from a penis? They had two doctors - someone from the board of health and a Metro administrator come to the jail.

‘And they had me get on the table and examined me and everything. They also said I was female. I don't understand that,’ Brenner said.

Brenner, who is also known as Lamonda Fuller, claimed officials deliberately said he was a woman.

He claims in his lawsuit that when he complained he was threatened with being locked in solitary confinement.

After being sent to the female prison run by the Corrections Corporation of America he said he was abused by the other women.

‘I was strip searched, completely naked, with the women. I was showered with the women. I was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions in the shower by women,’ said Brenner.

Brenner claimed his stay for several months was so traumatic he contemplated suicide.

‘I survived it through the grace of God, because it was hell. I had contemplated suicide. It was horrible,’ Brenner said.

His lawyer, Jim Roberts, claimed authorities deliberately placed him in the female prison.

‘Metro's decision was, “Let's do it the easy way. She looks female on the outside. We will lie to everybody and say she's a female,” even though they knew she was a male the entire time,’ Roberts said.

‘When Metro takes shortcuts like that people get hurt, people get killed and people's rights get violated,’ he added.

Officials with both CCA and Metro Health said they cannot comment on the lawsuit or any medical information on a specific inmate.

Legal team: Brenner's attorney, Jim Roberts, believes authorities decided to take a shortcut and deliberately placed his client in a female facility

But officials told WSMV-TV that Brenner ticked a box on an admission form saying he was a woman.

His $20million lawsuit is against the city of Nashville and the Corrections Corporation of America.

A spokesman for CCA said: ‘Our goal is always to house inmates in the safest environment possible. This includes a professional, individual assessment of both the risk factors of their own unique circumstances and the safety needs of those around them.’

If any of this parties fall into the shameful act of extra marital affairs, if he/she repents and the agrieved party is willing to forgive, the bible encouraged forgiveness if we confess our faults to one another. However, if the sinning partner refuses to repent and he/she becomes agressive, abusive,dangerous or absconds,then divorse is allowed.

It's a difficult decision to make and painful path to take but think of a husband that sexual abuse his wife and children.That even get physical dangerously with them. Think of the late Titi that eventually lost her life on the altar of 'I dont want to leave him'. same people would blame if very bad things happen to her or the children eventually.

In her own case, the foundation was wrong and whatever is built on it will definitely not last,as it has turned out to be. We only pray that God we give the strenght survive this times and changes in her life.
