This is the physics. hail stone weight may be in milligrames but the momentum of the plane which is the product of its mass times its velocity is so huge,for an example if the planes al up weight is 80,000kg and cruising at an air speed of say 300 meters per second, in fact in this case is in several thousands of kilogrammes force . fortunately the laminated glass didn't give way to the onslaught of the hail stones otherwise the pilot and the co pilot as well as the flight engineer in the cockpit would have been killed because the impact would been the same as that of a bullet shot from any gun, hence resulting in an un manned, ill fated air disaster. kudos to air bus r & d team for desining for wost case scenerios and not any village people involvement. nairalanders please appreciate the power of science and engineering. 9ja i hail o!

This is very serious, it could have led to a disaster if the flight computer as erroneously configured was met with aviation fuel limitations during flight. I watched air crash investigation on national geographic some few years back where a similar incident occured in which an experienced pilot was given a flight plan to a destination bearing of 260degrees for a 2hr flight to a city in brazil, mistakenly input plane's heading as 026degrees instead of 260 degrees. At the estimated time of arrival the pilot lost contact with the tower and also lost visual contact with the airport. He became confused and paniky because he found himself in the middle of the thick amazonian jungle not knowing he was almost 1200km off course. The plane eventually ran out of fuel and crashed into the jungle.

BTW why partner with DANA ? The air crash recently is still fresh in the memory of most Nigerians and this could result in serious de- marketing . I am a regular flyer but have fobia for crashed airlines especially the ones flown in Nigerian airspace ! A case in point in early 2000s I boarded an ADC flight from calabar to Lagos in which we hovered around Lagos for more than 30 mins for non deployment of the landing gears . Immediately we touched down at MMA the plane was scheduled for ABJ (WEIRD YOU MAY SAY !) Not too long this very aircraft crashed killing all on board including a prominent personality from Sokoto ......the airline has been rested permanently for good .
