U.S. President Donald Trump said that terrorists “know what is coming” if they attack Christians, portraying his robust stance against groups accused of targeting Christian communities in Nigeria and suggesting the United States could respond forcefully if such violence continues.
He stated this at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC on Thursday. “When Christians come under attack, terrorists know they are going to be attacked violently and viciously by President Trump. I know it is not a nice thing to say, but that is the way it is,” he added.
Trump’s remarks came amid continued international attention on Nigeria’s security situation following recent claims by Trump and some US lawmakers that Christians in Nigeria face widespread violence.
PUNCH Online had reported that Trump designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over alleged attacks on Christians, a move that drew criticism from the Nigerian government, which rejected the claims as inaccurate and harmful to national unity.
Trump addressed various global security issues and how his administration was working to defeat dangerous extremist groups.
Trump said that the U.S. military under his administration had “knocked out” the Islamic State (ISIS) in Nigeria because of how they were attacking Christians.
Trump said he was defeating ISIS when he first entered office, but claimed the group resurged during the four years he was out of office. He also said ISIS was responsible for killing Christians in Nigeria.
“When I was out of office for four years, ISIS rebuilt again. We had a bit of ISIS again, but we knocked the hell out of them the other day in Nigeria because they were killing Christians,” Trump said.
Trump added that ISIS would not be allowed to continue killing Christians, and he warned that he would respond strongly if they did.
Like Reno Omokri, Femi Fani-Kayode Kayode, Daniel Bwala, Adams Oshiomole, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will simply deny the statement even calling it AI doctored. The sophiscation in political denial in Nigeria is worsening everyday
I couldn't help but LOL that the fearless lions can be startled by lightening or thunder claps. So how do they contain severe cases in the forest or jungle with no structures to shield them from the harsh weather?
A quiet night drive turns unexpectedly electric when lightning cracks the sky above two resting lions. Even Africa’s apex predators are reminded that nature can still catch them off guard.
A Seemingly Calm Night in MalaMala Safari guide Gabriel Harmer was on a night drive in MalaMala Game Reserve when he came across an amusing yet fascinating moment. Gabriel was filming two male lions resting calmly on the side of the road, illuminated by the beam of a flashlight amid the near-total darkness.
The lions appeared relaxed and unbothered by the safari guests, their large bodies lying comfortably as they soaked in the cool nighttime air. Night safaris often offer a more intimate look at predator behaviour, and this moment initially seemed no different.
Lightning Strikes Without any warning, a sudden flash of lightning lit up the entire sky, momentarily turning night into day. The reaction from the lions was immediate and dramatic. Both leapt to their feet in alarm, startled even before the thunder had a chance to roll across the landscape. The lions froze, heads raised, scanning the sky and surroundings with visible confusion.
Their body language shifted from relaxed to tense, ears pricked forward and muscles taut. Then, a second lightning flash followed, further unsettling the pair and prompting them to look upward again, clearly unsure of where the threat originated.
Laughter built from inside the safari vehicle, a natural reaction to seeing such powerful animals caught so completely off guard. Gabriel’s calm but amused voice could be heard remarking, “I don’t know what happened, but I think it’s time to go back to camp,” seemingly clarifying that it wasn’t just the lions who were caught off-guard by the lightning.
Why the Lions Were Startled Although lions are formidable predators, lightning is an entirely unfamiliar and uncontrollable force from their perspective. Unlike prey animals or rival predators, lightning provides no visual cue beforehand, no scent, and no clear direction of origin.
The sudden burst of intense light activates an instinctive startle response, similar to how loud or unexpected noises affect animals across many species. Interestingly, the lions reacted even before the thunder arrived.
This suggests that the visual stimulus alone, especially in pitch darkness, was enough to trigger alarm. Sudden illumination can temporarily impair night vision, leaving animals momentarily disoriented and vulnerable.
Big cats rely heavily on stealth and environmental awareness. Anything that disrupts those senses, particularly during nighttime when they are most active, can provoke anxiety and defensive behaviour.
Lions and Stormy Weather While lions are accustomed to many harsh environmental conditions, thunderstorms are unpredictable events. During heavy storms, lions often seek shelter in dense vegetation or lie low to conserve energy.
Open roads, like the one seen in this video, offer little protection from the elements, making sudden lightning strikes even more unsettling. This moment also highlights that dominance in the animal kingdom does not mean immunity from fear. Even apex predators must face forces far beyond their control.
A Lighthearted Reminder of Nature’s Power. Although brief and humorous, this sighting provides a rare glimpse into the vulnerability of lions when confronted with unexpected natural phenomena.
It’s a reminder that the African wilderness operates on its own terms, and sometimes, even the king of beasts is left looking skyward in confusion. In the wild, no creature is ever truly in control, and that unpredictability is exactly what makes these moments so unforgettable.
They shout allah arkbar, slit throats and detonate explosives to send people to their untimely graves, yet they are being recycled as repentant, rehabilitated and deradicalized terrorists?
You kept on pampering and negotiating with Bello Turji now he is sacking communities. Talk about an Islamic caliphate inside another caliphate. Perhaps the sultan of Sokoto is still oblivious of the unfolding in his domain.
The bribery thing is a common trend nationwide and across the world. However, no one would want to believe that the SW is more likely to pay more bribe than other regions given their education and political exposure.
How can the US be talking of a major ugly development of this kind when the president have not deemed it fit to address Kwara state or Nigeria as a nation? A country of particular concern with failed leadership.
Arkmanbuddy: Are we sure that even if INEC is forced to transmit the results, there won't be irregularities? Are we sure politicians won't find another way to rig when biometrics are not included in the transmission?
Yeah! Both electronic voting and transmission of results are being advocated. However, it is in this same nation that bandits are making phone calls using conventional networks in remote places to negotiate ransom and even have contact witj their victim relatives
Imagine the casting. Adams Oshiomole is a real disgrace. This is the useless life they are taxing poor Nigerians to be living. This is really shameful and embarrassing for this nation.
Agriculture of course will take the direct hit. The escalating insecurity ravaging this nation affects agriculture the more among the many ills of our national life. Of course not forgetting the food inflation and insecurity attendant effects.
Meanwhile the many print media down south, Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala, Bayo Onanuga, Femi Fani-Kayode among the many e-rat attack dogs of this irresponsible government are still keeping mute
This is not even the real figures as many go unreported. The christian and muslims being killed here were killed by muslims. Meanwhile does any sane person needs statisense statistics to agree on the Christian genocide onslaught?
Hehehe! With the alleged falsification of the Senate resolution on this issue, Nigeria is still on a long thing. Until there is push and legislation on;
-1). Use of card reader. -2). No use of incidence form/manual accreditation. -3). Timely electronic transmission of results from the polling centers. -4). Quick modalities for post-election litigations before swearing in, there is no going to be any iota of sanity in our electoral processes.
Hedonisco: The masses are not ready to reclaim their country. When they are ready, they would swarm these assholes and delivery instant justice to them.
I said it earlier. The vicious cycle these assholes are creating is going to trigger something unprecedented that may consume all of them.
Now wait! APC under the current NASS is now telling the world that another forgery in legislative processing is about to unfold again?
Nothing new! This is a government of criminals. Sadly is may be another criminal falsification that may go without consequence.
Until there is push and legislation on; -Use of card reader. -No use of incidence form/manual accreditation. -Timely electronic transmission of results from the polling centers. -Quick modalities for post-election litigations before swearing in, there is no going to be any iota of sanity in our electoral processes.
Really? Where is Lagos place in the picture. From Ijora Olopa, Obalende Under bridge, to many places within the metropolis, the shalanga lifestyle is a nauseating phenomenon.
Who is removing fuel subsidy with no cushioning of the ripple effects? Who is unifying the exchange rate, who is implementing unfeasible economic policies that are wrecking the life out of the poor downtrodden masses? The FG. Bunch of useless dumbass.
