PoliticsRe: The Position Of The Nigerian Society Of Engineers by Racoon(m): 6:58am On Feb 10
The Nigerian Society of Engineers believes that adopting real-time electronic transmission of election results—consistent with successful implementations in countries such as Estonia and India, can strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process while working within INEC’s existing technological framework.

Therefore, the Nigerian Society of Engineers hereby declares its full support for the real-time electronic transmission of election results..."

PoliticsRe: SMBLF, NGE, Agbakoba Demand Mandatory Real-time Transmission Of Election Results by Racoon(m): 11:26pm On Feb 09
No sane person in Nigeria today should ever agree to the APC propaganda of the unfeasibility of timely electronic transmission of election results. This have retarded a lots of things including formation of a credible working accountable and responsible govt.

benardtotti:
The same APC amended the electoral act to accommodate BVAS, IREV and discretionary electric transmission of results , so what's your problem? The PDP you supported before porting to LP/ADC what legacy did they leave behind?
You lied! The PDP instituted the 2010 and 2015 electoral acts that were modified by the NASS as the 2022 amended electoral act with the attempt @BVAS and electronic voting that the APC structure; from Tinubu to senators opposed, and has continued to opposed till date despite buying over governors?

So why is the APC afraid of electronic transfer of election results despite advocating for same years back? Nigeria would not end after Tinubu. Whatever approach they use would be doubled and used against them in time to come. You lots can continue to defend lawlessness, but bear in mind that what goes around also comes around.

Just imagine! The same wicked people. Everything they have ever supported or opposed, they did the worst. From fuel subsidy, instigating insecurity, electoral criminality, bastardization of democratic processes and now, forgery of national policy documents( budgets, tax laws, legislative proceedings).

Today, same people are saying timely electronic transfer of election results is not needed. Nigeria should maintain the structure of criminality despite having almost all governors in the coven.

They have inflicted so much ills, chaos, problems and challenges in our national life that it will take centuries to correct. You need to have a dead conscience to be an APC member or supporter.

”We assure INEC of our full support towards using electronic voting in 2015. We also appeal to all other political parties, Civil Society Organizations and indeed all Nigerians to join us in pushing for a system that will eliminate the role of thugs and sideline vote thieves during our elections, in addition to making our elections free, fair and credible.

"...While electronic voting is not a magic wand, it is the surest way yet for Nigeria to join the league of countries that have wiped out electoral fraud, which is the worst form of corruption.

It is also the best way to hand over Nigeria’s elections back to Nigerians, instead of having the judiciary determine who wins what contest....."
Now if the essence of electronic voting is to hand back election to the citizens, guess you can now logic why they are now opposing it while calling themselves "progressives"? Band of nauseating hypocrites everywhere. Meanwhile let's mention all of their supporters and members here;

PoliticsThrowback; 2015 When Tinubu's ACN Advocated For Electronic Voting in Nigeria by Racoon(op):
"ACN Wants Electronic Voting in 2015."
The Action Congress of Nigeria on Sunday said the country must use electronic voting in 2015 in order to ensure the integrity of its elections. The party also called for the hand over of elections back to Nigerians instead of the judiciary.

ACN in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said with electronic voting, the overall cost of elections will be far less; there will be stability in the polity, the atmosphere of war usually associated with elections will disappear and the involvement of the security agencies will be de-emphasized.

It said though Section 52 sub-section 2 of the Electoral Act bans the use of electronic voting ”for the time being”, the National Assembly should move quickly to amend that part of the law, while the Federal Government should provide the Independent National Electoral Commission with all the resources needed to make electronic voting a reality.

The statement reads:
”We assure INEC of our full support towards using electronic voting in 2015. We also appeal to all other political parties, Civil Society Organizations and indeed all Nigerians to join us in pushing for a system that will eliminate the role of thugs and sideline vote thieves during our elections, in addition to making our elections free, fair and credible.

”While electronic voting is not a magic wand, it is the surest way yet for Nigeria to join the league of countries that have wiped out electoral fraud, which is the worst form of corruption. It is also the best way to hand over Nigeria’s elections back to Nigerians, instead of having the judiciary determine who wins what contest. Two years is a long enough time to achieve this.”

The party argued that even Ghana, which has organised perhaps the best elections in this part of the world, has realized it can no longer continue with manual voting, hence it did not wait for troubles associated with electoral malfeasance to break out before embracing electronic voting during its last general elections in December.

It is not just enough for us to sit back in envy while the world hails our neighbour Ghana for being a model in electoral rectitude and participatory democracy. Let us ask ourselves what we need to do differently to shed our toga of electoral fraud and brigandage.

”Yes, there were some hiccups during the last elections in Ghana, which were conducted with electronic voting. But Ghana quickly moved to correct whatever problems came up. The system also allowed Ghana to extend voting without fearing that ballot boxes will be hijacked or stuffed,” it added.

And what is your demigod amassing governors for? It’s distressing that even otherwise clear-sighted people who recognize that the APC is a clear present danger to Nigeria, that Tinubu & his lapdogs are core constituents of the conscienceless gang of villains that got us to where we are now are seduced by the rhetoric of inevitability of APC’s self-succession.

Let’s not allow APC to propagandize us into accepting that their internal politics is our national politics. We should instead be asking them to account for the incalculable injuries they’ve collectively inflicted on our economy, our freedoms, our national emotions, and for reversing whatever little progress we were making before they took over.

No decent country on earth would reward the gang of incompetent know-nothings who presided over such an irrecoverable state of devastation and destruction of a country with continuity in governance."

Foreign AffairsRe: Mahama Recalls Ghana’s High Commissioner To Nigeria Over Alleged Vote Buying by Racoon(op): 12:33pm On Feb 09
Ghana just passed a strong message to Nigerian. Electoral processes must be devoid of credibility issues. So non-transparent outcome must be challenged and appropriate sanctions meted out.

Meanwhile back here in Nigeria, the vote buying goes on unchallenged, despicable persons are being given envoy/ ambassadorial positions because of political patronage and the Senate is fighting against credible elections in our polity.
Foreign AffairsRe: Mahama Recalls Ghana’s High Commissioner To Nigeria Over Alleged Vote Buying by Racoon(op):
“Without prejudice to the ongoing internal party processes, and strictly in view of the standards of conduct expected of public officers, the President considers it necessary to act decisively to preserve the integrity of public office and to avoid any perception of impropriety or conflict with the Government’s Code of Conduct for Political Appointees.”
I am highly impressed with this decision. The election of John Mahatma was one of the most credible Ghana has ever had. Hence this shining example.

Credible electoral processes give right to credible and trustworthy leaders who take right decisions without fear or favour with regards to party patronage. So these kinds of sound decisions are not unexpected.
Foreign AffairsMahama Recalls Ghana’s High Commissioner To Nigeria Over Alleged Vote Buying by Racoon(op): 12:28pm On Feb 09
Ghanaian President John Mahama has ordered the immediate recall of Mohammed Ahmed, known as Baba Jamal, from his position as the country’s high commissioner to Nigeria over allegations of vote buying in Saturday’s parliamentary primaries.

Mahama’s decision was in response to claims that delegates were induced during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries.

Jamal was a candidate in the polls, which he later won. During the election, Jamal’s campaign team offered 32-inch televisions and boiled eggs to delegates who took part in the primaries.

Jamal confirmed that television sets had been distributed but rejected claims that the act amounted to vote buying.

“So if you give television sets to people, what is wrong with it when you give things to people?” he asked, according to local media Joy Online. “Is this the first time I am giving things to people?”

Explaining the reason behind Jamal’s recall, Felix Ofosu, Mahama’s spokesperson, said that while the allegations of vote buying were made against multiple candidates who contested the primaries, Jamal was the only serving public officer among them.

“The President has also noted the public statement by the General Secretary of the NDC indicating that the Party has commenced its own investigations into the allegations arising from the primaries,” the statement reads.

Ofosu said the high commissioner’s recall takes effect immediately, and that directives had been issued to the minister for foreign affairs to take the necessary administrative steps.

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi Joins Protest At NASS Over E-transmission Of Results (video) by Racoon(m):
This is what it means to lead. Electronic accreditation via BVAS, voting and timely transmission of election results from IREV to INEC secured and retrievable server is a must.

Most personal details information, banking, education exams, govt processes are now done electronically within secure servers power by TELECOS. Though no system is 100% foolproof, electronic elections have had proven success in UI, Estonia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and the last US elections. Nigeria can't afford to remain behind.

The electoral, democratic and constitutional processes needs to be bettered with or without their limitations. True democracy starts from a credible electoral system. The only people kicking against this development are the anti-democratic elements.
