Symptoms of Pregnancy Are you doubting if you are pregnant or not? This could only be confirmed by carrying out the pregnancy test. But it is possible to suspect that you are pregnant even before you miss a period. Below are the early signs of pregnancy and why they occur. Classic symptoms of pregnancy These are the most common first signs and symptoms of pregnancy. They include: 1. Missed period . Whenever a lady within the childbearing age misses her period, it is common that such lady is likely to be pregnant. However, this could be misleading especially if you have an irregular menstrual cycle. 2. Tender & swollen breasts. At the early stage of pregnancy, there are hormonal changes that make your breasts sensitive and sore. You begin to feel comfortable after some few weeks as your body adjusts to these hormonal changes. 3. Nausea, accompanied with or without vomiting. This is called morning sickness, and it can occur at any time of the day. It usually begins one month after you become pregnant. However, some women don’t experience this sign, while others experience nausea earlier. Although it still remains vague the cause of nausea, pregnancy hormones is likely to play a role. 4. Increased and frequent urination. The rate at which you urinate may increase, with an increased volume. During pregnancy, your blood level increases causing your kidneys to act on more fluid that ends up in your bladder. 5. Fatigue. This is another major sign that ranks high when it comes to symptoms of pregnancy. During early pregnancy, the progesterone (hormone) level soar and this makes you feel sleepy. Other signs and symptoms of pregnancy During the first trimester, there are other signs and symptoms of pregnancy you might experience, but they are less obvious signs. They include: 1. Bloating. Due to hormonal changes, your digestive system begins to slow down, which can cause constipation. 4. Cramping. A number of women experience mild uterine cramping at early stage of pregnancy. 5. Light spotting. A little amount of light spotting sometimes turns out to be one of the first signs of pregnancy. This is called implantation bleeding. It usually occurs when the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus (about ten to fourteen days after conception). Implantation bleeding happens around the time of a menstrual period. However, it doesn’t affect all women. 6. Nasal congestion. Changes in hormone levels and blood production can cause the mucous membranes in your nose to dry out, bleed easily and swell. This may lead to a running nose. 7. Food aversions. In the early stage of pregnancy, you are bound to experience some level of preferences when it comes to taste for food. You become also sensitive to odors. Just like other signs of pregnancy, these food preferences can be triggered by hormonal changes. Are you Pregnant? Unfortunately, majority of ........ Health / Fibroids: It’s Implications In The Lives Of The Woman Folk by Rambabz(m): 6:35pm On May 13, 2017 |
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that form around or in the womb. These growths constitute of fibrous tissues and muscle, and they are of different sizes. They are sometimes called uterine myomas or leiomyomas. It’s so unfortunate that majority of women are not aware they have fibroids because they don’t notice any symptoms. For women that experience symptoms, they may notice: Constipation Lower back pain Abdominal pain Heavy or painful periods Discomfort or pain during sex Frequent urination In some rare cases, complicated fibroids condition can lead to infertility or affect pregnancy. When To See Your Doctor Most a times, fibroids don’t come with symptoms so the diagnosis happens by chance during a scan, test or a routine gynecological examination. However, it is advisable to see your GP if you notice the symptoms of fibroids so that possible solutions can be rendered. If your doctor suspects you may have fibroids, he will refer you to do an ultrasound scan to confirm the diagnosis. Why do Fibroids develop? It still remains unknown what’s the actual cause of fibroids. However, they can be traced to the hormone oestrogen. The ovaries are responsible for the production of the hormone oestrogen. Fibroids usually form in a woman’s womb during her reproductive years (between 16 and 50 years of age) when oestrogen level is at its peak. After menopause when the oestrogen levels are low, the fibroids tend to shrink. Who Gets Fibroids? Fibroids are very common with women. In 10 women, about 3 – 4 tend to develop fibroids at a certain stage of their life, usually found in women aged 30 – 50. It is believed that fibroids are predominant among women of African-Caribbean origin. It is also believed that they are common with overweight or obese women because their level of oestrogen increases as their weight does. Women with kids are at lesser risk of having fibroids, and the risk further diminishes as they have more children. Types of Fibroids Fibroid can develop at any area around or in the womb, and they come in various sizes. Some come as pea-size while other manifest as melon-size. There are different types of fibroids, but we shall be focusing on the major types. 1. Intramural fibroids. This is the most common type of fibroid, and it forms in the muscle wall of the womb. 2. Subserosal fibroids. This type of fibroids usually develop outside the womb and extend to the pelvis. They can grow and become very large in size. 3. Submucosal fibroids. They form in the muscle layer underneath the womb’s inner lining and extend into the cavity of the womb. On several occasions, the submucosal or subserosal fibroids are attached to the uterus (womb) with a narrow stalk of tissue. These are called pedunculated fibroids. Treatment for Fibroids If the fibroids are not accompanied by symptoms, then no treatment is needed in such case. Over time, fibroids.... A midlife crisis is a condition that can occur anytime between one’s thirties and sixties. It is considered to be the consequence of knowing you are going to die someday. For some people, this realization triggers crisis, and they start feeling frustrated, anxious, or hopeless, which may affect relationship with family, friends, and partners. Learning ways to overcome this condition can make you live a happy life. Symptoms of Midlife Crisis Often times, we overlook the symptoms of midlife crisis, so it is important to be well- informed on these. Some common signs of this depressing phase include: Fatigue Anxiety, sadness, and emptiness Sleeping disorder such as excessive sleep, problem to sleep, or waking up very early Loss of weight and appetite Losing interest, isolation, social withdrawal from meeting friends, attending parties, etc. Feeling guilty unnecessarily, loss of self-worth, feeling hopeless and helpless Lack of interest in hobbies Excessive use of drugs and alcohol Crying too much or too often Fixation on suicidal attempts, death Body pain and ache that linger even after treatment How to Deal with Midlife Crisis 1. Don't Presume Every Cough is Lung Cancer. Don’t visit your healthcare provider every time you notice any symptom that lingers for more than twelve hours. This is not in any way helpful and it doesn’t make you very popular with you doctor. This is because once an illness has been treated, you will go home to find another fatal illness that suits your symptoms on the internet and eventually you will find an illness which has no definite diagnosis. 2. Don't Have an Affair. You heard me right! Your partner might not be as good looking as she or he was some years back, but take a good look at yourself also because you are not as perfect as you think. So save yourself from embarrassment by not hanging out with people way younger than you or by imagining that they like you. 3. Don't Worry Obsessively About Work. Don’t be too obsessed with a particular job because it is most probably to end in disappointment. Just be thankful you have a job, but if you don’t have, try to take pleasure in believing that lots of people will lose their jobs in the next few years. If used wisely, Schadenfreude can be a helpful therapeutic tool. 4. Don't Transfer Your Neurosis on to Your Kids. There are reasons why kids have limited talent and that’s because they need you most as a parent. Don’t get overly worked up about their extra home assignments and other little responsibilities you need to carry out for them. It is the standard, and you must play your role in their lives. You just have to accept them as they are. 5. Create New Goals. If the current plan for retirement is getting bored to you, change of plan may help. Decide on where to live during retirement or whether to keep on working with your........... Health / Save Your Kidneys Through These Simple Practices..... by Rambabz(m): 8:38am On May 13, 2017 |
The rate at which kidney failure or kidney disease is experienced now a days calls for a critical look into this matter. A lot of people have lost their lives to this dreaded medical condition, and if proper care and maintenance is not given to the kidney, I’m afraid more and more people will suffer from this. The kidneys (located at both left and right side of the lower abdomen) play a crucial role in the body by removing waste materials filtered from the blood. If there is a kidney failure, more of these wastes accumulate in the body which could be life threatening if proper care is not followed up immediately. In this article, we shall be focusing on ways to improve the kidney functions by keeping them healthy. Follow the steps below and save yourself from any form of kidney complications. Drink enough fluid Staying hydrated by drinking enough fluid is a very crucial step to keeping the kidneys to function properly. It is advisable that you drink about 2 to 3 liters of water daily to keep the kidneys working. A good sign to tell that you are drinking enough fluid is the color of your urine. It should be straw-colored. Dehydration begins to set in when you start noticing dark colored urine, and this is not good for your kidneys. During hot weather or after a rigorous exercise, there is need for you to drink more fluid to make up for the ones you lost through sweating. The implication of dehydration to your kidneys is that when there is no enough fluid in the blood to process, it begins to filter out your blood which leads to a bloody urine. Check your blood pressure regularly Many of us are guilty of this. Because there are rarely any symptoms of high blood pressure, many of us don’t pay attention to this vital medical routine. Truth be told, many of the heart problems and kidney failures are connected to high blood pressure. It takes almost nothing to check your blood pressure at health care centers or even pharmacies, and there is no pain whatsoever attached to this check......... continue reading: https://healthissuesarising..co.ke/2017/05/ways-to-keep-kidneys-healthy-and.html?m=1 |

Health / Is There Any Effective Means To Cure Diabetes? by Rambabz(m): 3:53pm On May 05, 2017 |
In recent time, research have been carried out on the causes of diabetes and possible treatment for it. The question people still keep asking is; is there cure for diabetes? You may have read from a diabetes forum on how diabetes was cured, but I can categorically tell you that there is no cure for it yet, at least for the now. But there are effective ways to manage diabetes. Be it type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes, if proper medical advice is followed there would be a significant difference in the level of improvement. What you need to know about Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes For type 1 diabetic patients, the symptoms of diabetes are mild at the initial stage of diagnoses, and it is often referred to as the honeymoon period by physicians. During this period, it may appear as if the diabetes has disappeared for a period of time. There is a minimal need of insulin at this stage, and most patients may think they can manage virtually normal blood glucose without taking insulin. You will be making a whole lot of mistake if you assume that you are totally free from diabetes at this stage. A patient tend to have type 1 diabetes when about ninety percent of the cells that produce insulin are damaged. At the point of diagnosis, the patient may still be producing some level of insulin that will meet the required needs of the body. Diabetic patients with type 2 that were diagnosed at a time when they were overweight, tend to have a normal blood glucose if they engage in regular exercises and shed some weight. But this doesn’t mean the problem has gone permanently. Type 2 diabetes develops gradually, in which it becomes difficult for the body to produce much insulin for its use or the cells turn to be resistant to the effect of insulin. This will then lead to impaired glucose tolerance (a reduction, but still ability to convert food into usable form), and subsequently lead to diabetes. If a patient revert back to his normal lifestyle i.e. scale back on physical exercise or gain weight back, high blood-glucose would come back. Also, the reduction in the production of insulin and the high level of insulin resistance that led to the diagnosis will slowly intensify especially during stress. With time, you discover that a patient that was able to maintain a normal blood glucose through exercise and diet alone will need to engage in oral diabetes medications or even insulin injection to keep the blood glucose in a reasonable healthy range. Can you cure diabetes through natural therapy? There are no therapeutic cure to diabetes, but natural therapies such as progressive muscle relaxation, biofeedback, deep abdominal breathing, and guided imagery can help in reducing stress. What this stress do to the body is that they affect blood sugar level. So it is important to learn these relaxation processes to help manage diabetes. Also note that supplements don’t eradicate diabetes either. Some may even interact adversely with your diabetes medication. Although there are some that can improve your diabetes, confirm always form your GP before taking any supplements. Health / All You Need To Know About The "Causes Of Kidney Disease" by Rambabz(m): 1:51pm On May 04, 2017 |
The size of the kidney can be compared to your fist, it has a bean-like shape, and it is located at both sides of the body (just above your waist level). Every human has two kidneys that carry out crucial functions for our well- being. What the kidneys actually do is that they help in removing waste materials and excess fluid from the blood. When there is a kidney disease and proper treatment is not carried out, it leads to a more complicated condition known as kidney failure. At this point, a kidney transplant or dialysis would be needed to keep the person alive. A dialysis machine is one that performs the functions of the kidney. When the kidney is diseased, it finds it difficult to get rid of waste materials from the blood. So your blood is passed through the dialysis machine to help filter it. Although there are many treatments of kidney diseases, many people are ignorant of the fact that kidney disease can be prevented. In this article, we shall be looking at the major causes of kidney disease. The two major causes of kidney failure, also known as end stage kidney disease (ESKD) are high blood pressure and diabetes. By controlling these two diseases via treatment, kidney disease can be easily prevented or slowed down. There are many types of drugs present for the treatment of high blood pressure. Also, living a healthy lifestyle by regularly doing exercise and shedding weight can control and even help to prevent high blood pressure. Maintaining a normal level of blood sugar in diabetic patients helps to prevent complications such as coronary heart disease, kidney disease and stroke. For a patient that is diabetic and also has high blood pressure, special drugs known as angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor is administered to help protect their kidney performance. Aside the two major causes of kidney disease stated above, another leading cause of kidney failure is glomerulonephritis. This is a disease that causes damage to the filtering units of the kidneys, known as the glomeruli. The actual cause of this disease is not fully known, but it could be related to heredity or caused by an infection. Other causes of kidney diseases are kidney stones and polycystic kidney disease which is mostly an inherited disease. Damage can be caused to the kidney also through overuse of some pain killers and indulging in hard drugs such heroin. Most of these diseases can be cured, while others can be only controlled to slow down to prolong the life of the sufferer. A chronic kidney failure or end stage kidney disease happens when the kidneys has lost about 90% of their functions. Some of the likely symptoms of kidney failure include vomiting, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, confusion and difficulty in concentrating. To test for the performance of your kidneys, your doctor will have to collect samples of your blood and urine. The test is widely referred to as kidney function test.
