The fact that their winnings aren't publicized doesn't mean they're not working. Let's be progressive abeg, not everyday negativity.

people need to learn how to leave personal grievances aside when work comes into play, especially such a job.

Tamadi800:
Even in the family, disagreements happen.

This very one is quite unfortunate. You sent out fake information to discredit your colleague and put him and his family in harms way just because of mere misunderstanding.

Sad!

Alleged Extra-judicial Killing of Igbo Youths: DSS Official Sets-up Colleague Against Public

Condemnations have continued to trail a report suspected to have been given out by an operative of the Department of State Services, DSS, to an online media outfit, where he allegedly framed up his senior colleague over personal disagreement.

The online media had reported that Mr. Samson Enwereuzor, who is a senior DSS operative, engages in torture to extract information from youths in Southeast and sometimes embarks on extra-judicial killings.

But the authorities of the DSS have debunked the story by the online media that the Service resorts to torture in a bid to extract information from suspects whenever an arrest is made.

There have been cases of unknown gun men on rampage in the Southeast. While some people have accused the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, of being behind the killings, some others claimed that there is external collaboration backed by the security agencies.
Sources at the secret police office in Abuja, have described the report against Enwereuzor as wicked and an attempt to pitch him against his people.

The sources said that Mr. Enwerenuzor is not a field person, rather in the technical unit as an engineer and only go to other states when the communication equipment of the states are faulty.

Besides, the sources claimed that Mr. Enwereuzor is a senior operative and does not engage in any field work, adding that it was mischievous to ever link him with any form of extra-judicial killings or torture in Southeast.

It was gathered that Mr. Enwereuzor, who is an engineer, stays at the DSS headquarters in Abuja and has never visited his home in Southeast for several months, except when he represented the service at the wedding of one of their operatives in Enugu about two weeks ago.
But the online report had claimed that he (Enwereuzor) has a team that is in Enugu state, which is responsible for extra-judicial killing of youths from the Southeast.

However, investigations revealed that Enwereuzor does not go to the field not only because he is a technical person, but also a senior operative that had passed the level of field officers.

Sources at the DSS office accused one Principal Staff Intelligence Officer of being behind what they described as “malicious and wicked” allegation against Enwereuzor.

The sources also claimed that the officer behind the online report who they said is from Ebonyi State, had sometime ago committed a “dismissal offence in Abuja.” that led to his transfer out of the nation’s capital.

On the allegation that Enwereuzor invaded the home of one Chuks Egwuatu in Enugu and the illegal arrest and torture of four of his siblings the DSS sources said that within the period as claimed in the report, never visited Enugu State.

One of them said, “I can authoritatively tell you that Mr. Enwereuzor has not visited Southeast for about a year now, except two weeks ago when he represented the service at the wedding of one of our colleagues.

“I can also tell you that he doesn’t know the Egwuatu of a person and was not part of the team that went to his home. The time the thing happened he was not in Enugu state”, he said.

On the allegation that he arrested one Idara Gold for putting on an attire bearing Biafra flag on October 18 on her birthday, the source said “Enwereuzor does not even know the Idara Gold and was not involved in the arrest.

” I will also want them to mention one person Samson (Enwereuzor) has killed and where. I don’t really know what the guy behind this story wants to achieve. You just want to pitch innocent person against his people. The guy doesn’t know the implication of this wicked allegation.”

Also commenting on the allegation of brutality of people he arrests, the source further, “He an Engineer and works in the office, all the operations in the field don’t concern him. He doesn’t go to the field, his work has to do with technical things. So the allegation of arresting suspected IPOB members, doesn’t concern him because he is not a field person, he is a technical person even with his rank, he can’t go to the field.”

The sources also debunked the allegation that Mr. Enwereuzor belongs to a team on a special duty in Enugu, adding that by his rank he was above such assignment and has nothing to do with it as a technical personnel.

“I can tell you that the recent journey he embarked in the east was about two weeks ago when one of our colleagues wedded about 18 or 19th November,” a source said.

Meanwhile, the Department of State Services has enjoined Nigerians to disregard the report credited to the online news agency, alleging that the Service resorts to torture in a bid to extract information from suspects whenever an arrest is made.

A Statement originating from the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya described the claim as false and a figment of the news outlets’s imagination contrived to malign the Service.

The Statement reads in part: “There is no iota of truth in the so called exclusive. The DSS does not force out confessions from suspects and has not done so in the matter of IPOB and ESN.

“The Service is a professional agency that follows the rules of engagement and standards operating procedures in all of its activities. It does not take laws into its hands.

“It is a public knowledge that it has by, today, charged many suspects to court in line with democratic norms. The entire reportage is a figment of the imagination of the news medium.”

It further adds that the DSS takes immense pride in its repute and wouldn’t indulge in activities that call its professionalism to question, just as it brands the online media as a media outfit which practices ‘guerilla journalism’.

Politics / MASSOB Leader, Uwazurike Alleges Assassination Attempt By Nnamdi Kanu by Ramlahmed: 2:49pm On May 04, 2021
Tension As Uwazurike, Leader Of MASSOB Alleges Assassination Attempt By Nnamdi Kanu

Ralph Uwazuruike, founder and leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has accused Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of being the mastermind behind a recent assassination attempt on his life at his country home.

Mr. Uwazurike expressed the view in a five-minute video where he alleged that some unknown gunmen acting under the firm directives of Nnamdi Kanu attempted to assassinate him on Saturday night, however, his security personnel successfully repelled the attack.

Mr.Uwazurike said he personally knows Kanu and he can confidently say Kanu is an inconsequential and cowardly character who has made a terrible mistake for giving out this order to his unknown gunmen.

In the 5 minutes video, Ralph seemed agitated and expressed surprise at such a daring move by Kanu.

Ralph described the attack as a conspiracy against Ndigbo and the anti-Biafran because he is very much involved in the struggle for Biafra.

It would be recalled that Mr. Uwazurike and Nnamdi Kanu have always been at loggerheads as to how to achieve their agenda of self-determination for Biafra. Mr. Uwazurike claimed that Mr. Kanu is only thriving on the relevance given to him by his gullible followers. The southeast has been a security hotbed with unknown gunmen attacking security agents and facilities in the region.

Crime / Merchants Of War Beating Drums Of War With The Alleged Killing Of Igbo Christian by Ramlahmed: 11:50am On Apr 12, 2021
https://www.vigil360.com.ng/exclusive-report/58-special-reports/18965-merchants-of-war-beating-drums-of-war-with-the-alleged-killing-of-igbo-christians-in-kibiya-kano-state.html

......One of the antics of these unpatriotic merchants of war is to whip up parochial sentiments laced with a tint of misinformation and fake news. Most of the narratives commonly depict the Igbo's as victims of persecution from all the tribes in Nigeria. These merchants of war easily forget the history that pre-dates 1967-70 civil war, which is a lane in history anyone would want to tread again. Be that as it may and without prejudice to the industry of the Igbo's, they are easily one of the most nationalistic group in Nigeria, even as they are found in every Local Government Area in the country because of their entrepreneurial acumen and industry. But that nationalism is been called to question with recent happenings in the southeast of the country.

One such fake news is the allegation of "slaughtered Igbo Christians" in Kibiya, Kano State which is definitely an eye-catching headline when you are naive of their antics of playing the victim card. This is a pure propaganda tactic by IPOB separatists' organizations to further incite violence, garner religious/ethnic sympathy across the country for their selfish reasons.

If this headline were anything to go by, there is “MaziNdigbo” in every state of the Northern part of Nigeria, Kano for that matter has a complete local government called Sabon-Gari in Kano Municipal where it is being dominated by Igbo people to an extent that they are landlords of Sabon-Gari area. They own every big property in that area and without any person disputing same with them.

What readers should ask as objective and pertinent questions are, How come the Igbo leaders in the said region/community have not reported about this alleged killing of its kinsmen? How come the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in that community decided to play dead in the wake of an alleged pogrom against Christians? Have they joined the enemies of the church by playing the Iscariot trick to sell their Christian brothers to the enemy?

It should be noted that reports on the purported murder of Igbo Christians in Kano State has so many unsubstantiated details about the said pogrom. The website which published the fake news is one of a plethora of propaganda channels positioned to further divide the nation along ethnic lines and also advance the separatists agenda. They are one of the virulent fake news merchants who pose as media outlets to deceive people through propaganda. No one is opposing the right to argue that the conflation of various ethnic nationalities into one country with some more dominant than others has a workable solution to attain true nationhood and greatness. Let us remember that division is detrimental while unity is supreme for the development of the country!!

Politics / Re: Crisis Rocks Dss, Why They Failed On #endsars Intel, Dg Suspends 2 Assistant by Ramlahmed: 9:27am On Nov 27, 2020
By Sunday Olanrewaju

It beats my imagination how some individuals and, more surprising, media outfits jump at fleeting items of information and try to make a mountain out of a molehill of them. No thanks to the social media that have created space for all comers who now feed on the gullibility of some readers who might not be patient or lack the skill to read in-between the lines. Let it be known that reading in itself is one of the specialized set of language skills amongst others such as writing, speaking, and listening.

The above publication, dated 23rd November 2020, leaves no one in doubt that the Publisher, Pointblanknews.com, only played to the gallery. The report 'reeks' of mischief and ostensibly an attempt to please some vested interests whose myopic interests are at variance with the Secret Service High Command. I particularly find it difficult to place side by side the recent #EndSARS protest and any rift (If any) within the Management of the Department of State Services (DSS). If truly some of the lieutenants of the Director-General of the Secret Service are aggrieved, how does that affect the efficiency of the operatives deployed across the State Commands of the DSS?

Still, on the #EndSARS, I wonder what the online Publisher expected the Federal Government to have done with any intelligence given to it before the protest. Could the Federal Government have suppressed the protest that started peacefully in line with the tenets of democracy? With all relevant and available intelligence, could this have been done without cries from both local and foreign bodies? The hijack of the protest by the hoodlums was a fallout of a process whose initiation could never have been prevented. The point here is that intelligence is not procured to suppress peaceful protests as allowed by democracy and when such degenerate to violence, the only option left is reactionary.

Furthermore, Nigerians should not be quick to forget the timely intervention of the Secret Service when it arrested the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest on 3rd August 2019 in a hotel in Lagos. Suppressing that protest did the country a lot of good which many may have failed to acknowledge. Still, many Nigerians condemned his arrest and called for his release from detention. Among them were Professor Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana (SAN), Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Now, the clueless online medium, Pointblanknews.com, cries foul of lack of intelligence prior to a peaceful #EndSARS protest which was later hijacked by miscreants. Do miscreants hold meetings before hijacking a protest?

As an online columnist, on 13th September 2018, when President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Mr. Yusuf Bichi as the Director-General State Services (DGSS), I took time out to surf for information about the man. From what I gathered, Bichi's credentials as a career officer in the DSS were equal to none of his contemporaries in the Secret Service at the time of his retirement. His experience as a National Director across virtually all the Agency's Directorates in Abuja, Director across State Commands and Training Institutions was awful. These are aside from his vast knowledge and skills in intelligence analysis, training in intelligence processing in the United Kingdom (UK), and strategic training at the National Defence College, Abuja. If Bichi paraded unequaled credentials at the time of his retirement before appointment as the DGSS, how can he now be intimidated by the credentials of his juniors as claimed by Pointblanknews.com?

From what I authoritatively gathered after the publication by Pointblanknews.com, the Secret Service, like its counterparts across the globe, does not strictly deploy its operatives including high-ranking ones based on their ranks. The Agency's deployments are based on the capability of the personnel to get the desired results. This is unlike other security agencies like the Police where a Superintendent (SP) or Chief Superintendent (CSP) is deployed as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Deputy Commissioner (DCP) or Assistant Commissioner (ACP) as Area Commander, Commissioner (CP) as State Commissioner of Police and Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) as Zonal Commander.

Conclusively and without any prejudice, for any report to be published, I strongly believe that one should be conscientious enough to respect all the principles and code of conduct involved in the practice of journalism which remains the fourth estate of the realm. Presenting facts with all sense of objectivity is the hallmark of journalism which all journalists should have a moral obligation to abide by. With each of the items of information released into the public domain, the journalist sets the agenda for discourse whose ripple effects no one can foresee.

The Fight against Boko Haram is necessary, we are all affected as if we allow these insurgents capture more territories or even carry out attacks we would lose as the country would be losing financially, finances that would have been used to better develop the nation in other aspects e.g Health, education, etc.
My worry is that the military will announce successful destruction of Boko Haram camp but we continue to see videos and pics of fallen soldiers almost on a daily. The Military should fight this war with all sincerity.

I have no problem with anyone critiquing the government because without criticism, the govt wouldn't be aware of its flaws and neglect but OBJ doesn't have the liberty to do so. You cannot be announcing a person's flaws when u have a ton of flaws yourself, OBJ should face the business that pays him (OTA farm) and allow those genuinely advocating for good governance to do so.

Politics / Boko Haram Insurgency: Why Is Military Playing To The Gallery? by Ramlahmed: 11:01am On Jul 20, 2020
There is no greater war leader and military strategist than Chinese military general Sun Tzu, who espoused the undisputed truth that “there is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged war. He further stated in one of his numerous works “Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories”. These are well established facts which military historians and students of strategy and war, conclusively agree on in resolving any conflict. In Nigeria, the armed forces has been at a decade long war with Boko Haram insurgents, who have basically carved out a so-called caliphate in a small part of southern Borno state. This group of some rag tag belligerent have literally waged war against the Nigerian state for almost a decade without being completely decimated.

One begins to wonder why this war has continued unabatedly for this long even as the military has massive deployment of materiel and human assets in the North east to deal a crushing blow to Boko haram elements, and end this endless war. The recent statement credited to John Enenche, coordinator of defence media operations, lends credence to the assertion that the Nigerian military as presently constituted is not ready or willing to end this war against Boko Haram, principally for pecuniary reasons.Enenche was said the dearth of intelligence from other agencies is hindering the military in prosecuting this war

Looking back retrospectively, when the Nigerian civil war broke out on 6th July, 1967 till the surrender on 12th January 1970, the military completely took over the territory of Biafra in less than three years. I am less interested with the political dimensions of the war but the swiftness with which the military ended the war covering the whole of the then declared Biafra Republic. Let’s attempt to put this in proper perspective.

Biafra’s territory covered of over 77,310 km2of land, the north bordered the Benue hills, Cameroon to the east, parts of the present Edo and Delta States (then Bendel State), with three rivers all flowing into the Gulf of Guinea, that is present Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, and Akwa Ibom, while the Igbo speaking people in current Delta state fought for the Biafran side.

In contrast to Boko Haram insurgents, Biafra army had professional soldiers within their ranks and file, however, the current terrorist cannot be compared to the armed forces who have all swore to defend Nigeria from external aggression, maintain the territorial integrity and secure the country’s borders from land, sea and air violation as well as suppress any insurrection while sometimes acting in aid of civil authorities to restore order when called upon to do so.

Undoubtedly, the armed forces of Nigeria is battle tested, from dealing with rebellions in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, Chad and Mali, they have participated in various peace support operations in Europe and Africa. However, the military anomie and unbridled ambition which has been the bane of military professionalism in Nigeria during the inglorious days of military incursion into politics is again rearing its ugly head. Corruption is what is simply prolonging this war. Are we saying the military cannot overrun Boko haram elements just holding a small part of Borno State?

I beg to differ on the statements made by Enenche, where he noted that the dearth intelligence is hindering the executing this war on terror. Let’s even assume that his statements is true, then, what is the role of Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps (NAIC) in this war, in the provision of intelligence support for all NA operations. Is NAIC involved in acquisition of intelligence on foreign collaborators of Boko haram? Don’t the NA deploy NAIC officers to strategic missions? What Enenche did was just to cut his nose spite his face?
Be that as it may, the military needs get this war over and done with as it been prolonged does the country no good. The buck ends on their table.

With all these, you would think the Government would do something to rid itself of Magu.....Guess What? it just did. The Head of the Anti-Corruption engine room has been arrested by a non-corrupt law enforcement agency. Finally, the fight against corruption has officially begun.
Politics / Ibrahim Magu, An Epitome Of Corruption And Incompetence by Ramlahmed: 4:13pm On Jul 06, 2020
Ibrahim Magu, an Epitome of Corruption and Incompetence

The incumbent acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has continued to exhibit incompetence and unprofessionalism in managing the affairs of the agency after five years of serving in an acting capacity. Since his assumption to office, the Commission has witnessed a drastic decline in terms of carrying out its mandate in fighting Economic and Financial crimes.

This worrying development led to the recent call by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, AbubakarMalami for the sack of Magu over a twenty-two count of weighty allegations. The allegations include the diversion of recovered loots among others. This clearly shows the extent the current chairman has abused the exalted office for personal aggrandizement.

One of the reasons for The EFCC boss’s non-confirmation by the Senate was that he was occupying a residence rented for him by one Umar Mohammed, a retired air commodore and a questionable businessman who was once arrested by the nation’s secret police. The said apartment was rented for N40m and was furnished at the cost of N43m by a company known as Africa Energy owned by Mohammed. The contract was secured after the EFCC chairman coerced the Federal Capital Development Authority to award the contract to the Rtd. Air commodore.

Magu was also characterized by frequent unofficial trips via a private jet owned by the retired air commodore of which he was spotted on one of the trips alongside Mohammed and a bank MD who was being investigated by the Commission over aiding and abating Deziani Alison-Madueke in looting and laundering public funds. This again shows clearly the person of Magu and his insincerity in fighting corruption.

His flamboyant lifestyle and flagrant disobedience to Directives of President MuhammaduBuhari, his principal remains another concern. For instance, in 2016, while going to perform the lesser Hajj, Magu flew first class on an Emirate airline in spite of a standing Presidential directive prohibiting “all public servants” from flying first class.

The Senate’s blatant refusal to confirm the appointed of Magu based on a damning report from the Department of State Services (DSS) ought not to have been taken lightly by the Presidency, especially with his antecedents and closeness to corrupt government officials as well as persons of questionable characters prior to his appointment. The existing fact that EFCC Chairman was sometime in 2008 arrested and detained by the Commission after official documents which he declared missing were recovered from his house during a raid was supposed to have been considered before his appointment.

Then serving as a Chief Superintendent of Police, a laptop with classified documents, and missing case files relating to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) investigations, and that of convicted former Inspector General of Police (IGP) TafaBalogun was found in his Lagos residence during the search. This was after Magu had declared the case files missing.

Magu has a penchant for going against individuals for personal reasons, and he normally executes his personal operations through his police cronies. These characters often identified as “Magu’s boys” are popular in the Federal Capital Territory due to their extra-vagrant lifestyles. They are notorious with driving exotic cars and they all own properties in highbrow areas which ordinarily, a public official cannot afford to purchase with their legitimate income.

In a never-ending display of ineptitude, Magu has continuously driven the Buhari administration's anti-corruption crusade aground with his lack of foresight and a high level of ignorance on core objectives and administrational procedures for the professional development of the Commission in fulfilling its statuary mandate.

The EFCC Chairman has on several occasions been on the headline of news with corruption allegations stemming from lack of remittance of recovered looted funds to the Federal Government. For instance, he was accused of diverting N750 million which was released for the anti-corruption crusade and when asked Magu was unable to account for the funds. The staff of the commission who sought to revamp of some policies aimed at deterring corruption in the commission were suspended with Magu accusing them of being in cahoots with the DSS who had written a revealing and damning report about him.

In 2017, a presidential panel of inquiry indicted Magu for corruption. In a statement issued by OkoiObono-Obla, he was accused of protecting corrupt ex-governors and senators. These allegations against the EFCC chairman is not because he is on the trail of corrupt individuals but rather because he isn't good at covering his tracks.

The same Maguapproached Billionaire, AlikoDangotedemanding the sum of N100 million bribe to halt corruption investigations instituted by the Kano State Government against the dethroned Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank, SanusiLamidoSanusi.

Though the head of the anti-corruption crusade may be corrupt, we must acknowledge the Commission for its recorded successes including several arrests and parading of fraudsters holding laptops, and regular midrange cars which seem to always be on the front page of the commission's website.

The Buhari administration campaigned on the tripod of economic growth through diversification, unparalleled infrastructures development and anti-corruption, in all this area of focus the anti-corruption war has been the most ridiculed with Magu as the head of the country’s lead anti-corruption commission even as he has epitomized incompetence and corruption, the very hydra-headed monster he is supposed to be as war with.

The fact that people have to protest against any issue means the proper procedure or the right approach is yet to be adopted. in my opinion the government needs to go re-evaluate its role to the people and provide the basic needs including SECURITY!!!
