Webmasters / Re: The Youngest Blogger In Nigeria Is Only 13! by rancetech(m): 12:32am On Jan 26, 2009
The 13yr olds mentioned have nice blogs, one of them has even placed adsense codes sharp sharp, she wants to make some money, who doesn't?

Blogging is great for teenagers, it expands their horizon & so many other craps. That didn't come out right!

It seems like they are all blogging about animals, is there any special reason for this?

Those who are in support of Gov. Fash are those who aren't affected in any means including their relatives. Cos if they were to be, they wouldn't praise him.
He's doing a good job quite alright but the problem I'm just having which has made me sleepless is the people who are loosing their trades, jobs, whatever.

Shouldn't there be a better way to tackle these problems?

Haba Victor, you can't even get an old pentium 4 for that amount. The last price is N60k. It's still available. The problem I'm having is that people who are genuinely interested are calling from outside Lagos. I'm in Lagos.

Phiry:

I think you should make advertising possible through Nairaland and make people pay for it. Usually, dedicated ad sites don't bring results(much results) at this age. The ads are only seen by people who are trying to post ads, nobody(more like not many people) goes about looking for ads to read! Have you read attention age II by Rich Schrefen?

Anyway I think ads are always better on utilities e.g. Yahoo!, CNN, etc and would be on Nairaland. I would be glad to be one of your first customers.

You are right, you know? Ad lists don't work as far as adverts are concerned, take me for instance, I can't go to an ad site and start looking for what to buy, & I'm sure if I feel that way about ad lists, so many other people feel the same way too.

But great job Seun, more grease to your elbows, thanks a lot.

Programming / Re: I Just Had To Modify This by rancetech(m): 1:27pm On Dec 10, 2008
Great! That explains it all, the question is really logical, everybody will definitely come up with different answers. That's what I wanted initially but I guess I didn't put it in the right format.
Programming / Re: I Just Had To Modify This by rancetech(m): 1:23pm On Dec 10, 2008
@jacob05
That's impressive, but I'm not a kid, you can tell from my posts and written english. I'm a certified programmer. All I wanted was for a little game amongst ourselves. It's just childish, that's all. Let it die here, ok?
Programming / Re: I Just Had To Modify This by rancetech(m): 9:42am On Dec 10, 2008
@yawa
I'm sorry about that remark.

Yeah, I agree, it sounds childish, I actually stated this at the beginning of the post.

So, please just contribute, I've been dying to get ideas on that.

I know I shouldn't have started this dumb thread, please forgive me all. It's very childish.

Software/Programmer Market / Re: I.t Consultant Needed To Design Custom Software For Dry Cleaning Company by rancetech(m): 9:14pm On Nov 27, 2008
The last time I checked, a software developer is somebody that designs as well codes. In broader terms, a developer can do the whole thing from start to finish.
Programming / Re: Java Rules,who Thinks Otherwise? by rancetech(m): 9:06pm On Nov 27, 2008
I guess you guys are out of jobs, there's no better explanation why serious programmers would waste their time over silly topics.

There are lots of threads on this issue, besides I see no need for that. Learn & use something that will work for you and your target market (clients).

If you are a web developer, go for PHP and MYSQL. If you are a windows developer, then go for C# or VB.net. If you're somebody that works with different platforms, windows and linux then JAVA would be more appropriate.

NB: It doesn't hurt to know more than one language, you can decide to use everything if you're capable. Just don't start any more dumb threads like this again.

VTN is owned by Graphcard. They've been in existence for long. You fund your Graphcard account through VTN. I've been using them for long now and I don't see anything like scam rather help.

I just checked the polls, it seems like nobody is voting. Why?
Webmasters / Re: WYSIWYG Editors Versus Text Editors by rancetech(m): 9:38pm On Nov 21, 2008
Geez! I just can't believe I'm seeing this thread now.

One thing I've learnt in my life as a coder is that you can never give up on old habits. Listen guys, anybody who learns how to develop web pages and of course websites using pure html and text editor like notepad will never like to use WYSIWYG, that's for sure no matter the ease of use, although you might try it out once in a blue moon.

Same thing goes with anyone who learns web development with WYSIWYG, you'll be so addicted that you wouldn't want to learn html itself.

As far as I'm concerned, I always feel bad when designing with Dreamweaver, feels like somebody's doing the whole work for me but whenever I'm on Notepad++ I feel this inner joy within me, it's kind of hard to explain but I'm always very happy and excited when coding with Notepad.
