FAMILY SEEKS HELP RETURNING BODY TO NIGERIA

The family of an e-hailing driver, who was killed in Pretoria West this week, is pleading for assistance to return his body home to Nigeria.

22-year-old Isaac David Satlat, was strangled to death by two passengers who had requested the e-hailing service.

The hijacked vehicle and Satlat's body were found in Atteridgeville on the same day.

Satlat's uncle and family spokesperson, Otila Onoja, said their family is devastated.

"We need funds to take him back home so that he can be laid to rest in his hometown where he's from. We need more to be done. This is very heartbreaking for us and we need more safety for other people who are working on this job, like Isaac."

Satlat, who was studying mobile engineering, was set to graduate next month.

South Africa's Meter Taxi and E-hailing Association's Eugene Ngoetjana says drivers are being targeted by criminals.

"My gut is telling me that this is criminality. It was opportunism. If anything, we found that our drivers are highly targeted simply because it's easy for anyone to just request the right. It's literally the easiest or the most laziest form of criminality that we find in society today. So to be honest, it is just something that is linked to our job's bloodbath, a lack of opportunities, and criminality will, what can I say, fester in this kind of economic conditions and not to make an excuse for the criminality itself, but that was pure opportunism, that was pure criminality, and it cannot be conflated with other broader issues."

South African police have arrested two more suspects in the horrific killing of an e-hailing driver who was murdered inside a car in Pretoria West.

The police launched a probe after a disturbing social media video depicting an alleged car-seat murder went viral, showing the final moments of a driver.

The murder of Isaac David Satlat sent shockwaves across the country, leaving his family distraught and heartbroken.

Satlats’ family has pleaded for assistance to return his body home to Nigeria.

On Friday, police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday, 11 February, and that a female suspect had been arrested.

On Monday, Masondo confirmed that more suspects had been arrested.

“The two male suspects, who are aged 30 and 26, will join the third suspect, aged 25, who was arrested on Friday, 13 February.

“All suspects are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February, facing charges that include car hijacking and murder,” Masondo said.

I don't see the problem here. I support the view of deporting illegal immigrants. I don't see why you can go to another country through the back door and be expected to be treated with kid gloves. People who travel to other places illegally should be deported.

The whole matter of being "immigrant friendly" should be limited to legal immigrants only.

Gayton McKenzie’s controversial endorsement of ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and his public support of President Donald Trump’s administration have been met with mixed reactions from the public.

In particular, the South African Presidency has distanced itself from the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture.

Last week, ICE raids across the US made headlines over what many claim were “aggressive” invasions and “violent confrontations”.

During one raid in Minneapolis, Minnesota, an Afrikaner South African – dubbed an “illegal alien” – was arrested.

Speaking to SportsBoom.co.za, Gayton McKenzie discussed football fans’ concerns about visas and safety when travelling to watch the Fifa World Cup, which takes place in the US, Mexico, and Canada in June.

The Minister of Sport, Art, and Culture touched on the topic of recent ICE raids, which were tasked with removing and arresting undocumented immigrants, particularly those with alleged criminal records.

Gayton – who is also the leader of the Patriotic Alliance, whose “Abahambe - They Should Go” strategy targets illegal foreign nationals – said: “I totally agree with ICE. We must do the same here with what they’re doing there. I cannot criticise something that I want in my own country.”

BOYCOTTING THE US WORLD CUP

He added, “If you want to go to the World Cup and you have a visa, what problems do you have? If you go through the proper processes of attaining a visa, you will be fine. I won’t be politically correct — viva ICE! I agree with Donald Trump”.

The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture urged the public not to boycott the FIFA World Cup.

He continued: “People who are saying that we must boycott the World Cup are suffering from cow disease. The repercussions for South Africa would be severe, and we would be banned from international football.”

PUBLIC REACTION

Gayton’s comments about ICE agents had mixed reactions from the public, with some many supporting a similar venture in South Africa.

Others disagreed about his support of US President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Presidency stated that the minister’s comments were not in line with government policy.

A South African Afrikaner man has been arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for a string of offences, including being an “illegal alien.”

The South African is one of several individuals arrested in Minneapolis during a raid.

On its official X account, US ICE agents posted the mugshots of several illegal offenders.

It tweeted: “When you see videos of anti-ICE agitators swarming our officers and agents in Minneapolis, MN, just know… This is who they’re trying to protect.

The mugshots featured men and women from countries such as Liberia, China, Mexico, Ecuador, and Thailand, to name a few.

One of the men was an Afrikaner white male, Jacobus Lodevickus Janse Van Rensburg, who was classified as a “criminal illegal alien”.

Janse Van Rensberg faced charges like aggravated assault with a weapon, assault, and drivin under the influence. If convicted, the federal law enforcement agency will begin the process of deportation.

It is unknown how the South African arrived in the US.

Meanwhile, applicants who have criminal records will not become eligible for the US refugee resettlement programme, an insider has revealed.

According to US intel expert Chris Wyatt, several South Africans, amongst them Afrikaners, had their applications rejected on these grounds.

He said: “When a refugee is being vetted, when the adjudication process takes place about your merit for being, your character is part of it”.

Thus far, over 1000 South Africans have left the country as refugees. The number is expected to dramatically increase in the coming months.
