WHEN SIRENS DO NOT COME, WE ARE ALL POOR No matter how wealthy you are as an individual Nigerian, we are all collectively poor. Deeply poor. Painfully poor. You only understand this truth in moments of crisis. A fire breaks out, there is no fire service. An accident happens, there is no first aid, no ambulance, no coordinated response. Recently, a world boxing champion was involved in a car accident in Nigeria. Not one ambulance arrived. Not one trained responder. People gathered around him like it was a carnival. Phones out. Noise everywhere. No safety protocol. No order. Two lives were lost that day. Last month, an aide to a sitting governor was stabbed at a political event. Instead of emergency care, someone carried him on their shoulder. A human being bleeding, lifted like luggage. No ambulance. Not even for someone close to power. That is real poverty. In Nigeria, money does not guarantee safety. Influence does not summon emergency care. Fame does not activate systems. When it truly matters, when life hangs in the balance, everyone is equally exposed. This is not poverty of wallets. It is poverty of structure. Poverty of planning. Poverty of leadership. Poverty of urgency. To the rich and influential Nigerian who believes demanding a better country is the job of the poor masses, hear this clearly. In an emergency, you are just as vulnerable as the man on the street. Your wealth cannot replace a missing system. Your connections cannot substitute trained responders. A country without emergency response is a country living on borrowed time. Nigeria can be better, but only if we demand better. Demand functioning emergency services. Demand trained responders. Demand accountability. Demand systems that work for everyone, rich or poor. Silence is expensive. Indifference is deadly. Let us stop clapping at chaos and start insisting on competence. Let us move from sympathy to action. From outrage to responsibility. Nigeria deserves better. We deserve safety. We deserve dignity. We deserve a country that shows up when life is on the line. Rest in peace to the departed. Wishing speedy recovery to all the injured. Now is the time to speak. Now is the time to demand change. Dr Daniel Okeke.

Oya naa... Business man and his goons want to cashout. But it's a welcome development. Let Nigerians own the refinery, let's see how they'll support anyone to sabotage it |
SmartPolician:But they hunt yahoo boys like game. They don't wait till they are petitioned. My point? Once there is an economic/financial crimes rumor, they are supposed to investigate. If it turns false, prosecute the rumor monger(s). If it's true, sue the economic saboteurs to court! |
faceland:Calm down. It's obvious you're not in Lagos or Abuja. Those prices are for "Gardens" in Abuja, or if you visit upper end restaurants (not high ends ooo), these are the prices you'll see. You see those "senior" restaurants in Maitama... Cocktails fit reach 70k sef. Salad like 27k Wait... Lemme share Farm City Menu with you. After all those prices, add 7.5% of that money as vat ![]()

brain54:You make valid points. However, you seem not to understand his point... Imagine my wife and I know the stress our parents went through in raising us... We are in the system now, but not buoyant enough to give our kids the kind of life we would want them to have; we can simply decide to birth none. Secondly, when we know what it takes to help a child achieve 90 and above (extra lesson, nutrition, excursions, exchange programs, etc), and the pressure it puts on the children, we could decide to birth just 1 kid, and raise them to the standards mostly accepted by the society. This, if done by everyone in the country, unfortunately causes a 50% decline in the total population (after just 2 generations). |
This data is obsolete. Nigeria has more than what is stated |
3seriez:You’ve mistaken your tantrum for intellect. It’s cute- like watching a toddler try to do calculus. It's really very cute. I mean, you lash out like someone who’s been ignored by smart people for too long. I understand, trust me. |
Arrowhead71:More drug dealers are southerners; more runs girls are southerners; more bandits and terrorists (almost all) are northerners. True or false? This doesn't mean I call all northerners bandits, neither do I call all southerners touts, druggies or whores |
3seriez:And see as you responded like someone whose parents died when he was still an embryo. Are Igbos not depicted as drug dealers already? Are southern girls not depicted as runs girls already? Stop being clever by half, or even being a nitwit altogether. My point is that there's nothing like profiling for depicting northerners as terrorists, as most of the terrorists in Nigeria are from that part of the country. Same way more drug dealers are from south east, touts are more in the south west, and prostitution is more in the south than in the north! |
Kwaensikwaensies. Sorry ooo... But wait fess. Shey your people like Gumi have come out to say they are your freedom fighters. Another said they're fighting Jihad (cowards)! The other said they are your sons and siblings. Well... Have you seen content creators depict someone wearing hijab as a runs girl? Have you seen them depict northerners as drug dealers? Actions have consequences, and this is not the profiling of any ethnic entities... It is simply stating of facts. This is information. It is data. It is the truth! |
enemyofprogress:God of mercy! Tooked? As in past tense of took?? 😭😭😭 |
Somebody shout POWER!!! Na a certain currency run am |
No recent graduates? Nothing since '64 I get it now. Those that finished from there after NDA was established are not listed |
Beremx:You mean statiSENSELESS? |
Fada is right. Something smells fishy |
frankyychiji:Do you even know the meaning of "regurgitating"? You'll just throw words around like a mentally sick fellow. Where's the wailing and consoling? What's there to be jittery about? Am I contesting? Am I a politician? Please 🙄🙄🙄 |
HeraldAgric01:Scallywag. Reminds me of "One week, One trouble". Scallybegger🤣🤣🤣 |
General Gattuso. Respect yourself, talk with sense. Nigerians are not saying Europe should get fewer places because we didn't qualify through the simple route. How many spots do Europe have? How many does Africa have? Yet this man thinks Africa shouldn't even partake. Yes... Just 6 places and you think it should be what? 1? Guess what!!! Remove Africa from the competition, and it ceases to be called a "World Cup"! |
Justice Walter Onnoghen. Omo... This news is sweet. I liked that man. Anybody with brains know that Buhari removed him for his selfish agenda. I'm not saying Onnoghen is a saint, but the fact they didn't find him culpable for bribery and corruption, just failure to declare some estacode (which he could dash his sidechic) shows he was a just judge |
Till today, I find it hard to spell EXERCISE. Those years with this book, we sing Ede times (x) ede, rice, customer, I shall ede. Without singing this in my subconscious, this is my spelling of EXERSISE. 😭😭😭 |
Goldenxtim:Brotherly, kindly read my post just above this your post... We Nigerians are in for bountiful harvests next year. Just hold on, e go soon better. Next year will be juicy. Don't give up, not yet. My first advice to you? Start a company. Even if it's a small poultry farm, or vegetable farm, start it and register it with CAC as a limited liability company (eg., Goldenxtim Farms Ltd). Secondly, open a bank account with that your company name. Then... You're good to go. Next year will be sweet Baba... We'll be alive to testify |
HawkTuahGirl:God bless you. He's human afterall, he can't see the future... That's why I believe next year will be great for us as Nigerians. Before now, he was busy buying the governors and other top men. Next year (this year is as good as over), he'll work hard to win Nigerians. What other way to win us over than working and making things work? This is also why he can't remove Wike... Because Wike will make him win FCT. If you ask 10 Abuja residents, at least 5 of them will tell you they will vote Tinubu for Wike to continue what he's doing in Abuja. Wike is giving Tinubu a good name in Abuja, trust me |
MemphitzDgreat1:Nonsense? I wish you were more civil in your engagements. That aside, I'll write an article soon, I'll post it here (Nairaland), why I think 2026 will be one of the best years as a Nigerian. Tinubu's mandate is "renewed hope". He'll definitely give us a reason to hope as Nigerians, again. He just has to. There are indications that things will be great or terrible next year, it depends on how Tinubu steers the wheel. I want to believe he'll steer it the path of plenty and abundance. I never really hated Tinubu as a person (why should I?), and I never really loved Obi as a person (what has he done for me personally?). They are all Nigerians, in different camps, vying for the topmost office; with different ideologies and approaches to problem-solving. Mind you, I am full-blooded Obidient; I voted LP across board in 2023, but I am Nigerian first. I want Nigeria to work again, and I want it to work in my lifetime. I have 4 children, all boys! I want them to grow with fond memories of motherland. I dare not wish Nigeria bad because my candidate did not win... We all want Nigeria to work. |
If GEJ allow himself to be used again... Tinubu is waiting to use Wike to cancel the outcome of this convention. In fact, this convention will be deemed invalid by the time Wike sues. GEJ should be smarter. He should know the snakes and chameleons in power. Tinubu is a bad guy. A stealthy smooth operator. Even Obaseki (one of the smartest politicians in Nigeria) no smooth reach Tinubu. By the time you notice Tinubu is interested in the game, it's already checkmate. If you want to play this game, rule one is... know thy enemy! Rule 2? Fear Tinubu. Rule 3... Fear who no fear Tinubu! I didn't vote Tinubu in 2023, but I'm sure the man has already finished the game for 2027! Na swearing-in remain ooo |
JemmyBenny:Hello gpt, or should I say copilot. |
KingAzubuike:If you have the evidence to support your accusations, you can report her. No? |
KingAzubuike:You're very correct. That's also why lecturers sleep with their students in the university. The girls are all above 18. It's not an offence... The girls were not raped, they also consented. Some even booked the hotel rooms for them and the lecturers to "wound" themselves. Most of those university girls are fxcking male students too; what's the big deal with just an extra dick from the lecturer? Free the lecturers too🤡🤡🤡 Ever heard of statutory rape? Most of those girls are not even 18! Their consent means absolutely nothing! Do you also know it can be considered: 1. A breach of trust (abuse of position of trust): Applies when someone in a position of authority (like a teacher, guardian, parent, etc.) exploits their role to engage in sexual activity with their wards. 2. Sexual misconduct with a student: A specific offense that criminalizes sexual relationships between school staff and students, regardless of age. 3. Professional misconduct: May not be criminal, but can lead to disciplinary action, job loss, and revocation of teaching credentials. 4. Corruption of minors: This can apply even if the student is 18, especially if the teacher used manipulation or coercion. 5. Ethical violation : Even if not criminal, most school codes of conduct prohibit such relationships. ... if you have sex with someone you're supposed to protect? Let's be wise. We're Nigerians |
Ghen ghen... For Nigeria, I don't trust the military. They are more corrupt than our civilians |
Since December 2021 ![]() |
Nail no pass 5-10k. This budget or whatever is highly inflated. She's lying |
