@VULCAN, and @fasbio, Really, I don't think it takes rocket science to become a poultry farmer. No matter how you look at it and all the info you will get, you will gain the experience as you go. From your first poultry cycle, to when you become a guru, you will keep learning and keep inventing a better way to do it. So even if the 800,000 people on Nairaland lend in their ideas and solutions, every one of use that want to go into this business will have to learn one thing or the other in the process. One thing I leaned during my first cycle was never to leave what I can do myself to someone else to do. this is what happened, I left home very early on Sunday morning leaving my wife to help turn off the lights/heat in the coop, to check the water, and to raise the tapolline that covered the sides of the coop. My wife got busy with the kids and forgot to do any of these things. The result, by 2:00pm, 13 birds that weighed 1.8kg each have died of heat exhaustion. The light was creating heat, the sun was super high, their water was gone and the tapolline kept the heat in. So imagine if the number was in the hundreds or thousands.

@ fasbio, Don't leave what you can do for someone else, who might not have the same kind of passion for it as you do. IF you do it right in Nigeria, you will make more money that you can ever make in UK. UK and U.S will be a vacation destination for you and not a place to work and hopping to survive. You can have best of both world.

first, second, or third choice. because I want to know how to make my own selection, so I will be lucky to be posted to the state i preferred most.

Am currently serving in kogi state,the state is very friendly, it has 4 parts, the Nupe, that is towards abuja,then egbira,that is Okene and ogoli ma gongo, then the yoruba, that is Kabba and ijumu,finally Igala majority. If you hear yoruba, u will not have problem cos you are likely going to understand bits of there native language. As for working there,most of the villages lack electricity, like were am serving no electric pole talk more of wire. As for Job you can get job there especially in school and agriculture, they have food so u can save money. Good side of them is that an Igala girl can never date you for money,they dunt know what is asking a man for money,unless u give them form ur mind. I will be through by march by God's grace

pls during ur Nysc online registration did you choose kogi state as which choice. first, second or third choice. I want to know so I can know which choice to choose them, so I can serve there. thanks

the truth of the matter is that its only Lokoja the state capital that has good prospects of Job opportunities. Nothing is happening in other LGAs. Kogi is basically an Agro - economy state! So I'm sure if you're lucky to be posted in any of the Government Farms or so, You'll be Retained. Just play your cards well. Right from Asaya Camp. Try and lobby to be posted to Kogi state ministry of Agriculture. Get to meet one or two people there before the end of your Camping so you can work your posting there.

I served in Kogi between 2010-2011 service year! The state is cool and they're very friendly there. I did my PPA at Isanlu one of the Best and security friendly Local Government. Food is cheap! But you won't get much pay! Back then, the state pays 1k and local Government paid 5k. I'm sure with the present Restructure in NYSC, you'll be posted where you are best fitted! Aiit! Feel Free to ask questions.

is there any opportunity of getting a job after your nysc there, especially in your PPA.
And again as one that studied ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND MANAGEMENT is there any opportunity of getting my PPA in any government or commercial livestock farm.

Yes you can present your Neco, but its good you apply to waec for a re-issuance of your waec certificate. one HR manager may ask if you never sat for waec.

my good brother the protocol is too much.
You will meet a layer, go to police station jst to obtain some paper before going to the waec office and at last you will be given statement of result.

I got admitted into the university with my waec result and now Am a graduate, but lost my waec certificate during my clearance in school.
I want to know if i seek for a job and Am asked to present my ssce certificate, can i present my neco certificate since the result is good.
