The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has berated members of the state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who left when there was an internal crisis only to return when peace has being restored.
Shettima said this during the distribution of relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Maiduguri, the state capital, by the National Logistics Committee on Distribution of Relief Materials.

According to the governor, “The politicians who left us to our troubles in the last five years only to come back when peace has returned to the state to tell us that Jonathan’s administration was better than the present, should be stoned just like the Satan is stoned at the Kaaba.”


The governor also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for taking proactive measureS in to end Boko Haram insurgence in the state.

Yoruba youths under the aegis, National Coalition of Yoruba Youths and Students, has warned Fulani herdsmen against any form of attack on the people of the South- West.
They stated that they would not take kindly to any unprovoked attack in the region as perpetrated in some parts of the country by the herdsmen.

The warning came on the heels of killings of innocent Nigerians by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen lately.
Speaking on Monday at the event of the remembrance lecture in honour of late former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Funmilayo Adunni Olayinka, the group’s coordinator, Com Sunday Asefon, said the unprovoked killings in Benue, Enugu and other states by the herdsmen confirmed the porous security situation across the country.

He insisted that the zone would repel any attack against the people, adding “Let me sound a note of warning to those masquerading under Fulani herdsmen to unleash unprovoked attacks on innocent people because any such attempt to invade our land shall be repelled by the youths and students of this zone”.

In a lecture entitled ‘Women Contributions to Democratic Development in Nigeria’, a member of the seventh House of Representatives, Hon Bamidele Faparusi, canvassed more leadership positions for women to facilitate gender equality in country.
Faparusi, represented by the Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association Ado- Ekiti chapter, urged the President Muhammadu Buhari led government to adopt the 35 percent public office quota to women in order to engender equality in the Nigerian nation.

The former federal lawmaker said the roles women of virtues like Mrs. Olayinka, Okonjo Iweala, Dora Akunyili, Oby Ezekwesili, and others had played in the development of the country buttressed the fact that the country is sufficiently blessed with women who can contribute meaningfully to its development.

Scores of people were killed recently in Alor Uno community over historical slave/non slave fracas including the killings of other people in Ehalumona and enugu-Ezike yet neither the Governor deemed it fit to visit the scene of the crime nor the students came out to protest the ugly incidence
