I feel the rumours about BvS is because some guys are trying to discredit it in order to pave way for CA:CW. More over, I personally don't follow the ratings because most Michael Bay films will be rated well, yet a lot of guys have ish with his movies. In fact because of what he did with TMNT, I really wish his next five movies will generate a gross income of $1k(lol).
Let's just wait and see how it pans out. As for Deadpool, I felt a bit disappointed with it, though its not as bad as some people are painting it.

Treash: There's this British girl I met on Facebook, she sent me friend's request which I accepted, during a prolonged chat together, she said she's in love with me which I truly appreciated after telling her that am not used to online dating due many complications and scamming involved.
She begged me to just give her a trial and she'll prove her commitment. After I agreed, she then asked that if won't mind, she wanted me to come over to UK and meet her, saying she'll sponsor all the expenses of my travelling, but I rejected due to the fear of the unexpected things that may follow, after a long argument, I later accepted. Then she requested my personal information (Full name, address, e-mail, occupation, date of birth and phone number) which I actually sent to her saying she'll use it to apply for invitation letter at their embassy. Finally she said she actually apply for the invitation, that within a week, the invitation letter will be ready then she'll send it to me and use it to apply for visa here in Nigeria. Now, my problem is that, it's not that I don't trust her, but do u guys think such thing is normal that she may not have some hidden mission on me since I don't ever saw her in real life and the way she insisted on the visit (Also remember, she's the one to sponsor everything for the travelling). Guy, identity theft is real o! This one you provided her with your personal info, don't be surprised when she duped someone with your name, especially she has your picture. |

Minemrys: Yea i agree with you. But that shield and hydra thing is what i love as a whole in the film and i hope dc has intelligence agencies of their own. spiderman being 15-16 years old is what i don't like. why not an experienced spidey? about quality from D.C, it depends on the writers and the studio. it was studio interferences that destroyed amazing spiderman 2. they wanted a sinister 6 movie and they spent half the movie creating it. I hope DC doesn't do that. we need a good story and sub plots that connect to the main plot. but amazing spiderman 2 ad many sub plots that didn't connect. it felt rushed. am pitying andy garfield 4 having wasted his talents just like that and get dumped 4 the mcu. Well, that's what happened with Spiderman 3 ( the Toby Mcguire Spiderman). Too many villians( about 3) and then many, many mistakes. |
TV/Movies › Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by rapmike(m): 8:53pm On Feb 22, 2016 |
cao: I actually preferred the non-linear approach. Initially, I was wondering why they chose that approach, then I realised that the first half would have been rather quiet & would make some folks bored with the inevitable wait, it was a better choice. No matter how much a film annoys me, I'll wait till the end, because I'd never be able to give an accurate criticism of it. For me, they got the essence of Deadpool right down to a T. Deadpool breaks the 4th wall like it doesn't exist, he doesn't shut the hell up, he's a working joke machine (regardless of the quality of said jokes), he has the attention span of a hamster & he'll do whatever the hell he wants.
Although, the film's one flaw is that we don't have as much action scenes or proper major action scenes as you'd expect, but remember this is an origin story & FOX actually reduced its budget, which actually played into Deadpool's style of humour, i.e his forgetfulness, which actually worked out for me. How many superhero films have a budget of $58 million? I'm impressed that Colossus actually looks like Colossus & not Steel (see the 90s Shaq film, Steel). And after the abysmal Deadpool in Wolverine Origins, I think Deadpool fans are just mega happy that we've gotten a more accurate representation of Deadpool, the fact that the film didn't suck, is just an added bonus. But, that's the subjective nature of opinion - one man's food is another's poison.
I'm guessing you'd have difficulty with the film Memento, the King of non-linear films... Its personal opinion anyway, but I felt the film did not live up to the hype. I felt the regular way of bringing out the story line (starting from when he was still human downwards-not the way they started it with him already immortal). I have no issues with the characters-just the way the producers decided to make the story. It call be confusing for people at times. |

cao: Look, some folks have to get some excitement in their lives, that's their only outlet. Allow them. Plus, they bought their ticket...Ignore them, the film was great. Even my lil sis, who knows nothing about Deadpool enjoyed it. Seriously, she doesn't read comics at all, but I got her hooked on the comic films (with the Captain America: The First Avenger) and she really really enjoyed Deadpool. I have watched it and seriously, I did not enjoy it as much as the hype put it. Probably they were trying to try something different with the story with their back and forth story movements but the beginning really started to bore me story-wise. Of course, deadpool taking out folks seemed cool but then again, I kinda expected it. Did not watch it to the end. |

I said most of Nigerian songs are crap. As for 1989, am sure its either rap or hiphop, which gives allowance for crap. You can't see soul or country music and sing crap and still be at the Grammys. knowadlearn: @rapmike
i think simi should be there cause her music got real lyrics, she talks about experiences not just repeating one sentence severally plus she got a unique voice at her age...
also i think 2face is good in what he does( love song) esp. african queen, assuming he make more songs like that he wld hv gone far globally Yes, but then her song is not that close to what Bez sings ( I mentioned Bez because to me Asa is the best out of those artistes mentioned). Her songs are not too different from what Adekunle Gold sings. You will agree with me that both songs are not up to Asa's standard. The only thing some folks will say is that their songs get more airplay than Asa but then that's expected. 2face? After African Queen I don't see any spectacular song he sang. |
Celebrities › Re: Angelique Kidjo Wins Third Grammy Award, Dedicates To African Artistes by rapmike(m): 11:03am On Feb 16, 2016 |
safarigirl: oh please! Whatever happened to artistes like Dare, Simi, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Asa and Bez.....it's not as difficult as you lot like to spread to find quality artistes in Nigeria. If the American White people Grammys have refused to acknowledge them because they only see Angelique, doesn't mean we do crap music. Angelique is the safe choice that they're used to
Save for Wombolombo, Angelique is mostly not on the airwaves, not every white endorsed thing should be worshipped. What is this one saying? Do you think its your everyday music she sings? Listen to all her songs and you would see the difference. Not everything hinges on vocal prowess and noise- music composition is also considered by this folks, not to talk of the fact that most Nigerian songs are mainly enjoyed for their beats and swag, not for lyrics and Music composition. Last of all, please remove Simi from that list, she is nowhere close to what the likes of Asa produce. |

Well, maybe you don't value loyalty. A man that cannot let his friend's ex be is a man without loyalties. The Ex has already married here! Will she ignore the guy just because of the Ex? Abi she go do babymama for the Ex? I don't see anything wrong in her actions, nothing to be loyal about since the dude has obviously forgotten about her. As he reminisced about the woman, Detective Arinze came into his office. "Kolade, what do you think about this case?" He asked while taking a seat. "Which case?" "The Okonkwos case. The one of that murdered woman." "So, what about it? The case has not been investigated fully, in fact you should find your way to Ikoyi tomorrow." "So you no get leg abi? Na me you come dey send like house boy?" The comments sent both of them to a temporary fit of laughter. "But seriously, all the evidences seems to point to the first child. Its all too comfortable to decide that. Hmn. Well, we are not done with the case so it should not bother you." "It does. I just feel that something is not right with our approach. By the way, how did you know about the murdered girl and the loans he had refused to pay?" "The girl's case came to us here. Seems like the family had pressed for justice and the DPO decided to spread his tentacles just when this case came up. Well, its not like he really spread it. That's by the way. I should be going to that area tomorrow morning." Detective Arinze stood up and left.
Calistus drove quickly to Ikoyi in the hot afternoon. Its was just 1pm, yet he was hurrying so as to beat the traffic that develops in the evening. As he got to Ribadu street, he smiled. Things seems to work out the way he saw it. Everyone seems to be binding together to save Ebuka, though that seems to be a momentous task. That was because the case seems to be hung tightly on his neck almost like a rope used for hanging people to death. However, its was not tight enough to choke him and everyone was trying to make sure it becomes loose. Everyone apart from one.
As he got to 17 Ribadu street, he parked his car safely, came down and without looking twice, entered the compound.
Once inside, he walked straight to the door and knocked. A middle-aged man peeped from inside and then opened the door. "Mr Calistus, good morning." The man greeted. "Its past 1 already. Calistus said nonchalantly as he entered into the modest sitting room. Nice work as regarding your sitting room. I can see the effect of my money on it, Francis." "Its nothing really sir. Francis said with a bit of fear. Is there anything I can do, sir?" "Yes. You have done well enough to bring that girl's case up. Now I need witnesses. I need you to testify against him." 2 Likes |

Literature › Re: An Open Invitation To Writers by rapmike(m): 12:56am On Feb 13, 2016 |
inkon: No, I don't mind. Besides, your questions are very relevant.
1. My intention is to initiate a dynamic literary platform that can accommodate generations of writers. And since I cannot do it alone, those who will co-assist in laying the foundation are the pioneer members who will retain its right of ownership.
It's neither Achebe's kind of literature nor what is on NL; but of course, we can borrow useful tips from them. One of the ideas I'll like to present is on the area of monthly publication of entertainment magazine. Something different from what is in the market today. That would be my own idea.
I have a reason for saying that my ideas are not conclusive. That is because I envisage a body of creative and willing individuals. It is possible that after brainstorming, my own ideas might not even number among the first to be launched.
2. I'm not psychic but I can feel your time constraints. Why would I tell somebody to start coming from Abuja or any of those far places for a project that is yet to yield any income.
You said something about your involvement in a similar organization that eventually brought only stress to you. That is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. In future, things will definitely change, but for now, I want people who can easily reach each other.
There is a limit to what can he done online. For instance, when we get to registration stage with CAC and other relevant agencies and you happen to be a signatory, you can't sign such documents online.
3. That I'm initiating this idea does not give me any right whatsoever, over anybody.
Why would I impose a levy on you? Even if I do, would you be happy to pay? I'm trying to be understood here. If we sign an MoU today, I'm just a member like every other person until an election decides who occupies which position. It's not my firm. I don't even have any name registered to this effect. Rather, it will be our firm. And since it will be our firm from which we'll derive equal benefits, wouldn't it be fair to share the task alike? Okay. Unfortunately I am at Ife currently (that's in Osun state) so I can't join in. However, I may be following this thread. |

Sasuke and naruto beat madara? You kidding me bro, he got tired of fighting with them because he had another plan(project tsuki no me) in mind and and they were just hindering him. Gai reasoning is good but the fact the nigga cant use ninjutsu and genjutsu puts him at a great disadvantage. Before you tell me he trashed madara, dont forget madara was a just having fun.
Let me add this my argument is that hashirama generation is quite powerful than naruto. Period I will agree if you talk about their generations , not just Madara vs Naruto and Sasuke. Besides I still believed that if he did not get that second Rinnegan, he would have been toast. (Though you have an argument there about Madara been bored). |

inkon: I'm looking at creating a team of 20 writers, 5 editors and 10 marketers at this inception.
Each qualified member will be redirected to another platform, more private, where our ideas will be discussed in full.
It's all about literature, it's all about business, it's all about giving and receiving. It wouldn't be bad to get a lodge in your bank account as a reward for good values you laboured to create.
For me to start this thread on a public forum is enough to tell that I need contributions of ideas. While I believe that the idea I have is not bad, I know certainly, with your good contributions, they will be far better. So I need you just as much as you need me.
Here, nothing is conclusive yet. We are going to throw each idea open for discussion with the hope of arriving at something better. And fresh ideas are highly welcome. But not until we have chosen our team members.
What is it that qualifies one as a member of this team beside the above listed criteria?
Commitment. Yes! That is one thing you need to qualify. And again, we need a little proof that indeed, you are a writer.
Once I go on break, I will start a story on another thread. I will post the link here. You remember how we tend to do it here. You are expected to read my incomplete story and continue from where I stopped. Another person will continue from where you stopped and so on. If you are shortlisted from your performance there, you will get a special invitation to join our whatsaap group.
Expect the link soon. Good luck! Hello. Please I hope you won't mind me asking some questions. 1st- what do you exactly mean by Literature? Are you talking of the Achebe or Adiche level or is it the level of what is currently on NL? I feel its the latter but just want to be sure. 2nd- why only Lagos? Can't you work with others outside of Lagos using online platforms like Whatsapp and e-mail? Creating a Whatsapp group for your team could help- at least your team is less than 100, am I right? 3rd- when you said 10 writers, I hope it ends at just writing? I say so because folks can be funny. I once worked with a group like yours (only that it was not Literature). They also made this demarcation that the writers will only write. Lo and behold, after the first issue of the paper was released, all those who were part of the editorial team was forced to buy 10 copies of the magazine @ #50 per copy and we were then told to sell them! That was so unforgettably annoying, not to talk of the fact that I did not even make any profit or even recoup the money I spent because the magazine was everywhere. So don't blame me for being skeptical. Until I get answers to these questions before I take your talk serious. |
