Cassie came back from the bathroom, obviously refreshed. 'You look better now.' Comfort and Courage said together. 'Wetin carry you comot like that?' Comfort inquired "Hmnn...... Na Assignment ooh!" 'I had to submit that assignment before the deadline. I no wan fail the course.' 'So Na on top course you dey do like that? Abeg make I see road.' Comfort answered. "Ehen, Na on top course, you sabi how many people dey repeat that course?" Dem plenty gan. 'Which course be that?' 'Na MCB 301.' "Oh, that Baba's course?" 'I dey hear stories of am. I hear say people dey fail that course wella.' Courage added. 'Hmn, If you see how many seniors dey come that class and those who dey photocopy notes, you go fear.' 'I dey hear of am from my department. I hear sey the course dey legendary.' 'Ok, so na because of am you dey rush like that?' "Na only you dey course wey hard?" 'Me sef get course wey hard gan.' 'Abeg, Dramatic Arts go get hard course?' 'Comfort no carry your own judge my own.' 'Dramatic Arts no be department? No be the same OAU we dey?' 'Shebi na Dance and acting una dey do?' "wetin hard for that one?" 'Abeg, e hard oh.' 'If I hear......' 'All departments for OAU hard jare.' Courage concluded to stop an argument from starting. 'Some departments are more difficult than others. I wan read.' 'For room abi for library.' 'Nooo, na your head i go use read, Comfort.' 'Na question I ask now.' Comfort said, sounding so innocent. 'Abeg, free me.' 'Anyway, I dey go out.' Comfort said. 'Tunji's parole abi?' 'No be that one, na rehearsal I get for my department.' "By this time?" 'The lord be with you.' Cassie said. 'And also with you.' |
Comfort and Courage were gisting when Cassie came back to the hostel. 'Cassie, where are you coming from by this time?' Courage asked in mock surprise. Comfort simply lifted her nose up. 'Wetin dey do both of you? Shebi na just 4pm. Abeg no start with me, I get headache.' 'How you no go get headache, when you run comot without even brushing your teeth.' Comfort said. 'See as you dey smell.' 'I no smell.' 'You dey smell.' 'Bad,Bad.' Courage said to add an effect. 'I just dey come from lab.' Comfort and Courage suddenly stood up like robots and ran to an edge in the room shouting," SARS!" "SARS!!" "Wetin dey do una now, abeg stop it oh!" Cassie said, feeling insulted. 'You no no say as you no baff, the microbes for your body don mix themselves with that of the one for lab. Their....' 'DNA.' Courage helped out. 'Ehen, their DNA for don mix finish, na so una microbe seniors dey do new disease comot make una see money make. Abeg go bath for that place, before them come quarantine you.' Cassie heades for her bed, causing more movement from her mocking roomies. She then took her bucket, towel and soap tray and headed for the bathroom. |

Okay, patiently build on it, if possible try and start writing it on a notebook. |
She quickly tried Courage number. Courage was fumbling with her bag after another tiring CHM 309 lecture. She had seen Ken today and had discussed academic issues with him, they have even read together, although not for long so as to avoid Linda. She was going home when Cassie rang her up. "How far, Cassie?" 'Na so you dey greet persin? ' 'Na my fault ni. You no call me this morning, I left you sleeping on the bed and the next thing is for you to disturb me with calls.' "Aha, Courage!" 'Oya, sorry o, what can I help you to do?' 'Please help me get to the hostel and bring my lab coat.' 'My lab coat dey here and I no dey reach hostel come back. You go manage am?' Cassie thought for a minute, then decided to go with the option. 'Oya bring am come.' Courage was there within seconds. "You fly ni?" Cassie asked 'Yes, i used Arik Air, Na your 'thank you be that?' Courage said as she brought out her lab coat. Cassie collected the lab coat, hugged her tightly and rushed to the laboratory, blowing a kiss to her. |
Sealeddeal: this is not about Yankee. It is about Human right. But Polygamy does not infringe on people's Human rights, does it? ![]() |
Kayworld26: All these head and leg topics are becoming too boring jare.....It can. A lot of the modern world troubles are there because some family values were lost all in the name of " its not my business". it needs to be brought back for discussion. |
Mondisweets: We have never disputed that the man is the head of the family. The biggest problem is this generation is that we have many (many doesn't mean the same thing as "most" or "all" so please don't misquote me.) being headed by coconut heads!True |
toykathy: This is just to appreciate all wonderful writers on this forum. Have been wanting to do this for a long time now, even if this isn't gonna put cash in your purse, but I'm sure it will put smile on your faces.I appreciate you a lot. Sometimes this is what some people need. |
Shittu was the first guy she liked. A bit muscular, dark and slightly tall, he was the funny guy in the class, cracking jokes. His friendly nature and his reception towards people attracted many to him. She had thought, in her Part One of course, that he was the man for her. But he never looked her way and then Ade came along in Part Two, so she had an alternative. It took the end of the second semester of Part Two before he asked her out. Unfortunately for both parties, she was dating Adedayo. She was also aware of his dating travails; he had first dated Kike, who was a year above him and cheated on him, then Comfort, her roomie, who saw him too soft for her liking. Comfort had always complained of how the guy did not want sex and how her admiration of him was dwindling. At the end, she dumped him and picked Shefiu, who she later dumped for Tunji. "Cassie." Dupe, another of her classmates called her out of her imagination. 'How far na? We no see you for class today. This one wey you dey look like this, I hope all is well?' Dupe was the class gossip, whose mouth runs faster than a tap gushing out water. No discussion was safe with her. 'Nothing.' Cassie replied. 'Okay o, just remember say 301 practicals dey by 1pm.' Cassie looked at her watch. It was ten minutes to one. "Shit!" She swore. |
Sorry, I am not Yerima. Lol. Kachisbarbie: I get, but she is still a minor...lol |
Shittu was laughing hard at her. 'See as you dey shout, abi I steal something ni?' "Shittu don't touch me there again, biko!" 'No vex na, oya sorry.' Cassie shifted her attention to her HOD's office. 'Have you submitted the assignment?' 'Yes oh! Infact, you came ten minutes late.' Cassie wore a 'crying face', trying to ascertain if he was joking. 'Shittu, why now? You know the kind of man he is. Why did you submit? And I came before your deadline.' 'Before his deadline. He corrected her. And I was just pulling your legs,' he continued, showing her a file showing all the submitted assignments. Cassie quickly brought her assignment and fixed it in between the others.' Thanks, Shittu, you are a life saver.' 'You should know that I won't fall your hand. He said, while going to submit the assignment.' She watched him go, wondering what it will feel like to be his girlfriend. |
She boarded a bike and zoomed off, not minding the way the bikeman drove or the smell of alcohol on him. "Drive faster, drive faster!" The bike raced madly along Road One up to Health Sciences Faculty, where the traffic light forced Cassie to take a break. Cursing the traffic lights, she almost came down out of haste, but then she was fortunate as the lights became green. The bike quickly diverted its course to BOOC, dropping its 'cargo' at the car park. Cassie promptly paid the man and speed-walked to her department. She looked all over for Shittu, but he seemed elusive. She had lost all hope of seeing him and was moving sadly back to her room, when she was tickled somewhere that was sensitive, forcing her to jump and almost slapped the guy when turning. "Shittu!" |
Godmystrength: If the neck is cast in POP, there will be no turning any where o. meanwhile, some men act head + neck together and maybe they leave the bombom for the wife. ![]() |
Sorry guys, i can't update today because am quite busy. Maybe tomorrow. |
Kachisbarbie: My husband is the head of the familyGal, you are beautiful. You have a junior sister? |
aisha2: Apologies for sounding rude. You are on point! The fact is that a lot of men drag this issue, forgetting that without the woman there will be no house to manage. That's why only a few men can be single dads, while a lot of women handle been single moms. The head of the family also shoulders a lot of responsibilities and a man that can't shoulder them due to lack of responsibility can't be called the head. |
Sophyrocks: Hahahahahaha. Your mother was absolutely right jare. I have aways thought the same which is why I avoid such men with low self esteem before they become abusive. All these threads about Headship up and down are begining to scream inferiority complex and low self esteem. Like they all wanna force the issue down peoples' throats. People who want to adhere to it are free. Those who dnt believe in it are also free to do what works for them. Abeg o. Enough of all these threads. Its getting boring. Its not about forcing the issue, its about family values. Though some people that talk about headship do so out of low self esteem, not all do. Like someone said, the fact that a man does not talk much does not mean that he is not the head of the house. |
aisha2: Una no dey tire? Chai!!!!!!! How many topics on this issue? Its seems like its not my business, but that's how family values get lost; by just minding your business. That said, you are right about some men using the statement to get some self-esteem and put down the woman. That is not what I meant by writing this article. I feel its because of those kind of clueless men that women now tend to disregard it. As someone said here; a man should earn that respect as the head of the family, not forcing it down on the woman. In this case, he should not act as 'lord of the ring' or all that childish behaviour. |
parismarc: Head, tail, neck, bottom, I don't give a damn, all I know is that no one is superior to me as long as we both breathe the same air. The day I stop breathing is the day you become superior. The fact still remain that the man is the head of the family, although some heads don't have a head. |
She saw herself between Ade and someone she could not fathom. Ade was shouting her name but she was busy talking to the stranger, when suddenly he turned away. Chase all she could, Ade did not come back. She was screaming on top of her voice..... 'Cassie, what's wrong with you? Why you dey shout Ade's name?' Comfort asked, after beating her out of her nightmare. Cassie woke up, looking distraught and confused for a minute. "It was a nightmare?" 'No, na daystar! Abeg wake up, 12 don nack.' "Jesus!" Cassie shouted as she suddenly came to life, picking her papers which were on the table and scribbling away for five minutes, before carefully putting them in a bag and calling Shittu, her class rep. 'Shittu Baba, wetin dey happen?' 'Aunty Cassie, Biggest girl of the class, I dey oh. Why you no come MCB 307 class? Mr Wale asked of you.' 'Abeg that one no dey do me. You don submit MCB 301 assignment?' 'No, but it remains thirty minutes before I drop it at his office.' Shittu said, mimicking the lecturer. 'Okay, I dey come. If you submit am before I come eh, eh, Shittu, you no go like yourself.' "Roger that!" Shittu said. Cassie smiled and dropped the call. 'Comfort, abeg I dey come, I wan reach department.' "Eh? Like this?" ' You go smell oh. In fact you dey smell now.' Cassie ignored her for a minute, then ran to spray some perfume and ran out of the room. |
Women! Always trying to show themselves. Yet some are worse than men in this aspect. Ngokafor: ...Are you in my head or something?..cos you just spoke my mind! |
You forgot the chest. Anyway, as i said, mutual respect and understanding solves a lot of this issues. Godmystrength: If the neck is cast in POP, there will be no turning any where o. meanwhile, some men act head + neck together and maybe they leave the bombom for the wife. |
parismarc: Head, tail, neck, bottom, I don't give a damn, all I know is that no one is superior to me as long as we both breathe the same air. The day I stop breathing is the day you become superior.Did you get my point at all? The fact remains the same, yet as i said, men should not abuse it and turn it to a bragging point. In fact, a real head of the family does not force it on his wife, he shows it by respecting the lady he calls his wife and thats a lot. |
I am sure this is not deliberate. Please be patient with him. |
She went to the back of the house, lamp in hand as she went to pick the dead snake. She then came back to the room, put the snake on Courage's body and tapped her violently, shouting 'Snake! Snake!!" Courage turned and suddenly jumped out of her bed in fear as the snake fell down. She was about to scream when she realised that it was dead. Cassie, in the meantime, was laughing. 'See as you run. Oole'( weakling) 'What do you mean by that, Cassie? See as you disrupted my sleep. Is that your sorry?' 'E yah, sorry oh' Courage hissed as she settled back to sleep. Cassie, still awake, tried to stir her back to alertness. 'Courage abeg borrow me your biro.' When Courage did not budge, she continued bothering her until she woke up. 'Cassie, abeg leave me. I no sabi the spirit wey dey chase you.' 'Na spirit dey chase you. Abeg borrow me your biro.' 'Na so dem dey ask for biro? I no give you.' 'Oya please now.' Shey you go leave me alone if i give you. Yes. Courage stood up and dragged her bag and brought out her biro 'Please return am oh!' Courage said in between yawning. Cassie received the biro, continued writing and realised that she was too tired to push on. She pushed the assignment to the floor and slept. |
