Agriculture / Faith Patricia Ariokot: Ugandan Sets Record For The Longest Time To Hug A Tree by Rathoreng(m): 9:32pm On Feb 28
Ugandan Faith Patricia Ariokot has set a world record for the longest time to hug a tree. Guinness World Records confirmed that she wrapped her arms around a tree trunk for 16 hours and 6 seconds. The 29-year-old environmental activist says she took on the challenge to encourage others to plant trees and also highlight the need for human protection. Ariokot described the experience of selecting a tree to hug for this record attempt as "like picking a bridal dress." What lesson have you learnt from Ariokot?

Ugandan activist hugs tree for 16 hours to set world record: "The tree chose me"

An environmental activist from Kampala, Uganda, has set a world record for the longest time to hug a tree.

Faith Patricia Ariokot, 29, wrapped her arms around a tree trunk for 16 hours 6 seconds to become the first official holder of the record.

She attempted this challenge to encourage others to plant trees, and to highlight the need for humans to protect them.

“They are the greatest soldiers in the fight against climate change,” Faith said.

Faith says that selecting a tree to hug for this record attempt “felt like picking a bridal dress”.

“The tree chose me, and it was like love at first sight,” she explained. “When I saw the tree, I knew it was the one I would go for.”

This record differs slightly from ‘longest marathon’ records, such as the longest cooking marathon, where challengers accumulate five minutes of rest time after each continuous hour of activity.

Record attempts are considered to be ‘marathons’ only when they exceed 24 hours in length.

Thus, Faith was not permitted any breaks – her arms could not be released from the tree at any point, and she was required to stand for the entire duration of the record attempt.

“My feet for over 16 hours straight were killing me,” she recalls.

“The tree with its rough surface cut into my skin and caused a lot of pain to say the least, and yet I had to keep holding on.”

This was the third time within the span of a month that Faith attempted to set the record, as her camera failed to record much of her first attempt, and her second try was cut short due to a thunderstorm.

As early as one hour in, Faith considered quitting because she was discouraged by the previous two setbacks.

By the ninth hour, she admits she “broke down” and wanted to give up, but says she persevered after being consoled by the tree: “I believe trees really have feelings and can sense what we are going through. It gave me the comfort I needed to keep going.”

Faith now hopes that everyone who reads about her record, wherever they are in the world, will be inspired to go out and plant a tree.

I want to talk about love. Love for the planet. Love for the Earth. Love for each other. There is no other planet we can ever call home. And one easy way you can show love for Earth today is by planting a tree.

As long as your website is up and running, everyone can have access to it na. You don't need to meet any ISP for anything again.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Burna Boy Vs Abdulkareem Eedris: See Reactions From Nigerians And Psquare by Rathoreng(m): 12:17am On Feb 19
richiemcgold:
Very stupid of p-square to poke their nose into this matta. Where were you guys when only Eedris came out to challenge 50cent? We all knew the cause of that fracas nah! If you wan catch cruise, use another matta, no be dat 50cent saga.

As for Burna, he should rather pay more attention to his career that seems to be slowly waning away. Burna Boy's last 2 albums (Love Damini & I Told Them) are far below the quality of what he released in 2019 (African Giant) & 2020 (Twice as Tall) . This should be his biggest concern at this moment.

sensible reply youve made, there. Exactly some people forget how this patriotic edris challenged 50 cent, where was even burna kid was then.

Obainoman6:
Nigerians love to be abused, insulted mocked and belittled then you play with them and you quarell with them small, shake them small they fear you and later you guys play and that's it.
Nigerians don't like to behave themselves they like to be whipped before they comport just like a cow.

Civilized behavior is not for us, gentleman behavior is not our thing.

HERE'S MY EXPERIENCE :

I used to work in a place at first i was quiet and caring till a bully came and taught me a lesson.
I copied all his acts and pasted it on him and that was it.
I would always mock him whenever he makes a little mistake, i would tease him when passing him, i would say bad things about him in his absent to other colleagues, i made friends with everyone so they likes me and would side me anyday.
I tried setting him up in front of the camera so that if hit me i will swiftly report to the hr and that's instant sacking. When he got tired and weak he stopped bullying me because obviously i was the predator here no longer him.

There was a girl i liked at work also but then i used to be a gentleman, very caring and would speak calmly to her, gave her green light here and there popped the question only to get a BIG NO. She pretended like I never existed
Then i changed, i got proud and over confident and was smiling with everyone in the office including my female boss, one minute teasing people, the next minute flirting next minute i don't care attitude, next thing again smiling and playing.
I would make inappropriate dirty sexual jokes on her about the bum bum and stuffs, some colleagues would feel disgusted. I was the one pretending she doesn't exist now.
You know those kinds of jokes that humiliates someone is what i indulge in most of the time in the presence of everyone and she would feel clearly hurt but i still take out the time sometimes offer my shoulder and pretend to care.
Now she's the one interested in me, always smiling at me even when i am not talking to her, asking me for cues or work related stuffs, now my name is always in her mouth.
Im clearly having fun humiliating and to the detriment of others but somehow i don't care anymore, everyone's loving it.
That's the way of the average Nigerian person.
Put them in chains, joy and pains is the way of the Average Nigerian.
at some point
