Men this thing should not get me confused, I know the reducing properties increases down the group but what about its position in the electrochemical series?

Al is definitely higher than Rb in the electrochemical series, which would liberate H during electrolysis making it a reducing agent. Even H is higher than Rb in the electrochemical series.
I just checked my text book and internet and it's says Al is a better reducing agent

In which of the following is the entropy change positive? (A) Reaction between an acid and a base (B) Addition of concentrated acid to water. (C) Dissolution of sodium metal in water
D)Thermal dissociation of ammonium chloride.

So much confused with this question....I think the right answer should be D.Thermal dissociation of ammonium chloride.

But reacting between Acid and Base too wil give a very high exothermic reaction.

Am thinking of D to, because thermal has to do with heating up right? Abeg correct me if am wrong.

One of these elements is the best reducing agent. (A) Pb (B) Rb (C) Al (D) In (E) N
it's C because of its position in the electrochemical series.

cubic expansivity = 3 × Linear expansivity.

= 3 × 1.2 × 10-⁴ = 3.6 × 10-⁴k-¹

∆V = cubic expansivity × ∆T × V1

∆V => 3.6 × 10-⁴ × (80 - 30) × 8 × 10-³

∆V = 1.44 × 10-⁴m³

∆V = 0.000144m³

∆V = V2 - V1

V2 = 0.008 + 0.000144

V2 = 0.008144m³
using V2=V1(1+¥©), is kinda an easier method but any one boss, all na still the same.

UTME: 569,395 candidates score over 200 marks – Registrar

Published August 22, 2017
Share Tweet Share
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on Tuesday said 569,395 of the 1.7 million candidates that wrote this year’s UTME scored over 200 marks.

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar, JAMB, disclosed this at the policy meeting of the stakeholders of Tertiary Institutions in Abuja.

He said 23.8 per cent of the total number of the candidates scored below 160 marks.

He said the stakeholders unanimously agreed that the minimum cut-off marks for the university degree is to stand at 120.

The stakeholders, according to him, peg that of Polytechnic to be 100, College of Education 100, while National Innovative Enterprise Institution remained at 110 marks.

The registrar said the timelines for admission of the first choice was October 15, while the second choice would be December 15.

Oloyede urged the heads of the various tertiary institutions to set their modalities for admissions exercises as it was not the board’s responsibility.

He said that no candidate without O’ Level prerequisite would be offered admission.

“JAMB has a Central Admissions Processing System to aid you on the admission exercises.

“CAPS will not replace admission processes of institutions. It will enable institutions to simply communicate with JAMB in a more dynamic and timely manner.

“ It will also allow for flexible cut-off marks and candidates are allowed to make their choice of institution and course,’’ he said.

The registrar, however, appealed to heads of institutions not to charge more than N2,000 for admissions’ processes.

In his remark, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, commended the board for conducting the UTME.

According to him, the stakeholders have worked together to create synergy for the advancement of education in the country.

“We restate our commitment to ensure expansion of access to students in our institutions

“To ensure equity in regard to rural and urban areas; we are committed to refocusing our curricula to meet our development need,’’ he said.

Adamu, however, advised heads of institutions to accommodate qualified candidates in the most transparent and flexible manner.

NAN reports that the meeting was attended by stakeholders in both public and private tertiary institutions.

Hey guys, with what I say on premium time news, it seems waec and jamb calculations still plays a role in this because it said it might be what will qualify you to sit for a post utme that is if your school conducts one. Yes the possibility to writing post utme is on a 99%, but it seems to do that, we would to need an o level and jamb combined grading to do so. Well not sure yet but it says we should wait for Tuesday afternoon for any authentic news. Sha be it any outcome, I pray it all favor us.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, which began a meeting on Monday, is expected to formally announce a new holistic policy on Tuesday when the body is expected to conclude its ongoing deliberation.

The meeting, which involves admission officers of Nigerian tertiary institutions, is taking place at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.

Issues discussed at the meeting include the introduction of Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) to ensure quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

An attendee at Monday’s meeting explained that the new policy is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’

These institutions will write to JAMB to request for the students and also give them (students) three days to respond. Also, only three universities can request for a candidate if the policy is adopted.

The new policy is also expected to allow institutions in Nigeria peg their cut off point after meeting with their respective senates.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the new policy will also give the academic board or senate of an institution the power to ‘allocate percentages to JAMB, the school and O’level results as these will be calculated to get the students’ cut off marks for post-UTME.’

It was also learnt that JAMB wants to ensure there is a unified time for closing admission in all universities.

If the policy sails through, there will be a portal for admission which will be based on cut off points, quota system and catchment areas.

“The new system is such that institutions can only admit those who meet their cut off points,” an admission officer for a tertiary institution who was at the meeting told PREMIUM TIMRS. “If a candidate does not meet the cut off, no matter whom he or she knows, such person cannot be admitted.”

The official said the system was demonstrated to all the attendees at Monday’s meeting, most of whom expressed satisfaction with it.

Also, the policy intends to make provisions for candidates to accept and reject any admission being offered to them.

The intended policy also looks out for candidates who are unable to go for National Youth Service, NYSC, because they do not have JAMB admission letters. This set of students could be asked to pay a fee, about N10,000 for regularisation and would be able to go for the youth service.

JAMB is expected to formally brief journalists on these new policies on Tuesday afternoon.

I think the news isn't really tho because ui cannot decide bow that they want to change back to post UTME when other schools are almost if not already done with screening, I heard kwara state uni had even released 1st list so why would ui just wake up and say they want to conduct a post UTME. Plus they can't tell me it's based on students performance saying not more than half students are performing well because if that's the case, you should go and see unilag students results and come back with testimonies. I know a lot of people in this group had read there butts out to secure a good UTME score and so on and a lot of people on this group should be above average. Plus ui has not even finished conducting their exams for 1st semester exams, so it's definitely not about students performance, what do you think? Also am not saying post UTME is a bad idea but if be the case, I have sha secured my admission there. Cc thehistorian Rursh engrbello CondomSir Ajet001 and others
