You guys make things difficult for the honest , hard-working guys on this forum. Sometimes i blame the gullible ones that patronise you guys cos you attract them with low prices only to show your colours later.

Some customers will almost ruin your life with their Bad Understanding / Evil mind.

The op knows what he is doing because the money paid wasn't even for the vehicle. The man did his job and if one is to be honest you owe him his balance .


If you defend the Person they paid the 20k, you'd be labelled as a thief. If you defend the op you'd be labelled as being unjust .
But either way, who expects a refund for a service as this which has already been executed . no one collects a refund from a lawyer even if the case is lost. It's left for you to do your home work before paying for their services .

As an importer, If you've not encountered issues with clearing agents , Then you must be a Jjc.
i always make sure i don't give them too much cars to handle at the same time, or else Money go miss road.
I know a lot about clearing, so i know when they start lying or telling me false things.

When dealing with agents, Always have uniformed men on stand by, And be ready to charge them to court at anytime.

Truth is, the Nigerian ports is filled with so many unnecessary issues. and the agents sometimes take advantage of this to delay your vehicle by using the funds for other things.

Complete transparency is needed to deal with them,
Explain to your client about every single process to make them calm and assured. When clearing a vehicle or container in Nigeria, 2-6 days delay sometimes is Very Very Normal. But if it exceeds that then there is something the agent is not saying.

I've had to forfeit some money while dealing with agents because most of them are very UNFORTUNATE.


This guy cleared a car for me last October, he wasn't too professional but he delivered.

The service was already in process seeing as he sent you some pictures of cars so it is fair to assume he had already started the job. Where is the scam in this? Refunding your part payment is out of it. The only resolution if you're dissatisfied is to meet him for variation of the contract since it didn't go to plan. He would present the bill for the effort he put in and two of you would determine whether he needs to refund you, or you need to top up the N20,000. I'm sure you won't ask a lawyer to fully refund legal fees already paid if you decide to discontinue a case midway...or ask a school to refund your school fees because you're withdrawing from your programme midway...or perhaps ask a doctor to refund
professional fees he had already received because you don't want to continue the treatment in his hospital....
