kikero: GSM companies were not providing good enough services to most people's satisfaction in 2001-5.
Yet we paid, and they raised enough cash from the income to make things better.
See! what do you mean by GSM comps not providing good enough service back then? how many where they at that moment, where was the competition? What was their coverage area then?what was the tech prevelant then? They came in with a standard, service for value, that was enjoyed then, competition came in, service packages increased, what has the power sector done to replicate this, are you getting the value u r paying for? Abeg yan better |

kikero: What resources?
When many people are not paying their bills?
When our major income streams are falling drastically? Especially oil.?
When people bypass their meters
And stop this nonsense about not paying for power because we don't see it
Back when GSM came into this country, service was poor, you could not even call another network for over 2 years , and missed calls were common
Yet we kept on paying high prices for that, and the companies took our money and made things much better. And built a multibillion business and a telecom network that required no government money or intervention
We have a power sector that needs money. Yet we refuse to pay our bills, we demand low prices and we bypass meters when installed
At the end of the day, the power sector cannot attract investment and cannot take loans to build things...unlike MTN, airtel and Glo that even had loans lined up before they started business self and 9 mobile.
As a result we don't have light.
Again, you cannot run a successful business if half your customers don't pay
This problem has been ongoing since long before Buhari took office in 1984. Since the 1970s infact. bud tell me this, when u pay ur bill did u tell them u want 4 hours light? Was that your Contract with them? Was the service promised by the power sector for 4 hours a day? Y'all be saying people are not paying, are they seeing the light to pay for first ?some peeps run Gen steady abi do u want to say they are the cause of not having steady power? Is it us that will give you money to set up the business abi na u go find the money to set up business and have us patronize u to keep it running as you provide better service? Is it from end users you want to raise the money from? The government are busy playing business the sector for their benefits, quick to make policies to put the common man down yet no corresponding positive effect on the country at large. |

kikero: You want awoof.
Sorry, but it does not work that way.
Good evening u don't have point to talk you are talking Awoof, e no make sense at all. U r not providing a service to people's satisfaction and you're saying they're not paying for ur service, is that how business is run ni? Provide better service then you can have the moral ground to Condemn your customers for failing to pay up not the other way round. |

kikero: If you were running a business, and 50 percent of your customers were not paying you, won't you be broke?
Power has been privatised since 2013..we ain't paying enough for it.
Sorry, but I am not supporting mediocrity. You on the other hand want to buy a Limousine with the money you would use to buy a motorcycle
I know many Nigerians are poor. But sadly power is expensive. We are not a rich country and the stealing happening every day makes it worse, and Lord knows I hate it. I'll ask myself if I'm proving the services to their satisfaction first bud. We are not in a sphere 24/7 power is given then try to Condemn citizens for low patronage, are they paying for 4 hours power? Absolutely not bud |
Politics › Re: What's Exactly Stopping Nigeria From Having 24/7 Electricity? by RealEzee(m): 4:39pm On Sep 06, 2020 |
kikero: In South Africa
1. People don't bypass their meters, nor do they refuse to pay their bills
2. Bills are subsidized yes, but they have income from agriculture, mining , and a massive industrial and business sector and a tax to GDP ratio of 23% compared to Nigeria's six percent to pay for it
3. Even then Eskom, that's the Azanian equivalent of NEPA or our discos, has been rasing bills for power
4. SA also generates more power than Nigeria. 45 000 mw, part of which comes from nuclear power ( a by product of their nuclear weapons program under arphateid)
Here in Nigeria we have none of that, we refuse to pay our bills , we bypass our meters and we don't pay sufficient tax , and our agro and industrial sector is not producing enough income to pay for subsides. Oil revenue had been falling since 2014 . And corruption is there
And you want us to be like SA?
Good electricity costs money..we no have moneye these are not reasons enough bud, first people in SA are already seeing the light that they're paying for, not here abi d bills u pay corresponds with what you hoped for? Did u pay for 4hrs light daily in Naija? Citizens have lost trust in the sector, my side we even have timetable sef, 3 days on one day off, yet its not up 24hrs kwa but now Bill don go up ooo we go still pay, what's their reason for the increasement? Nothing at all. Provide an enabling environment for the citizens and watch them grow independently, our siblings who travel to the west are enjoying basic amenities and paying jejeli cos it's worth it, we would do same here too if it's worth it, people have paid for meters for years n yet to receive, the sector keep on extorting people. Miaplaced priorities by the government, quick to pass bills that negatively affect the citizens at large than General good. We have no excuse why we should be having 24/7 power, the resources are there. |

kikero: Most African countries don't have stable power
Either they supply a few parts of their countries or they do as Nigeria does..try to please everyone. (Cameroon powers some parts of the country and leaves everywhere dark)
Matters are made worse by the fact that we are not ready to pay for electricity ourselves.
Below are maps from 2018 and 2012 showing the power situation in Africa
As at 2018 we even do better than many African countries, especially the dR Congo, which I mention because it has Africa's largest potential hydroelectric power sector, that was partially built so as u dey u don't deserve 24/7 light cos others are not having or what? It's like someone who's given area of concentration and even the test questions prior to the test, u have no reason to fail, naija has the resources to do so, we don't have any good reason to fail in that regard bud. of what use it Education when we can't fund research programs that will be efficient and also effective to solving alot of our in house problems, alot of our brilliant minds are coveted by the west, they get there and excel adding value to those nations, but here our dwindling educational sector keep fooling and can't seem to provide solutions for our current problems, misplaced priorities by the leaders quick to pass bills that negatively the citizens at large than ones that will aid its citizens to have a condusive environment to thrive. Stop celebrating mediocrity bud. |

But I get your point I must give them a second chance. But sometimes from the first attempt you know when guy will never improve. that's what the last one said "I'm great I'm great" it ended in tears ... . Not them ooo but the guy u want to start a relationship with tho, communication they say is key, open minded yeah something like that I guess, u know we don't have it all figured out but when we sync we can make our perfect little world, u will upgrade from great to extraordinary n he will be a god in that aspect just for u cos y'all talked about it n worked towards it........... MyMilkshake: Let me ask this a different way.
Can I just tell just by looking at him if he is good in bed. The same way we look at big hands to see if a guy has a big manhood. what makes u think u r good in bed tho? Cos u fit b king for ur lane till u meet someone u really into who will find u boring in bed n gbam instead of that person to tell u how he likes it, he leaves u instead of giving u the chance to improve since no one is really perfect in all ramifications yet we mould perfection in relationships, stop assuming and act, did I just say that? Sha u find out my point between all I said |

Inasmuch as we have bad individuals of Nigerian decent, this is no way to totally rubbish the entire country for cheap publicity, seeing Nigeria as an easy target for such propaganda because it's believed a major part its own citizens may believe such, I differ on this Abeg. y'all scream out our faults and whisper our positive accomplishments, Abeg make i hear word, who are the ones buying the product if not the so called Indians, if there isn't a market for it there then it won't scale, obviously your citizens are at the helm of this drug trade but yeah point at the Nigerian Man it's easier for it to sell on the news, Abeg make i hear word. |
