When Student loan was introduced, many students particularly in the South did not apply because they bought the 'its all propaganda' narrative pumped out on social media.

It is unfortunate they got themselves into that situation.

Hope they get the assistance they need.

So na student loan of 20k per month na the students wan take pay the 400k+ school fees and other tinx attached to schooling abi?

Foreign Affairs / Re: Bangladesh’s Army Chief Waker-uz-zaman Takes Charge After Pm’s Ouster by Realguyman1(m): 4:04am On Aug 06
nairalanda1:

That is what we said during the first and second republic, and when the army took over...within 5 years, people said the same thing about the army.

After the reggae comes the blues.

People thought economy was collapsing under Shagari. We called for army, two years later we were queuing for food under buhari, then 4 Years later, SAP was sapping us under Buhari

As for protests under army, either they arrest protest organisers before the show, or they unleash their firepower on the protesters. Go and ask your fathers, and uncles and even grandparents who protested as students in 1978 , and 1986...how army government showed them shege. ENDSARS no reach that level. People died, and army no send.

But if you want army rule, make you enjoy am. It is not as good as you think.
Stop saying what u don't know, did u witnessed it urself in the first or second republic where anyone was asking for the military to take over?

Oga I don't need to ask anybody anything because I witnessed most of the protest done during the military regime of Ibrahim Babagida and Sani Abacha and that of Tinubu right now has not been anything different from them. Infact if u do comparison now, that of Tinubu is even worse, because Tinubu government is supposed to be a civilian government where the people are supposed to have their says as well but different is the case now

I don't care whether military or civilian rules, the only thing I care about is the billions of naira been wasted every 4,4 years only for Inec to do what so ever they like and bring in a selected candidate claiming they have done election.

All I want is a better Nigeria, but I don't see Nigeria heading anywhere near better if people like Buhari, Tinubu or Akpabio continue handling the affairs of this great country

If the army takes over in NIgeria, just know that after the reggae comes the blues.

I have told people under three if not four civillan regimes, this one included, that wishing for army to come back is like wishing for wahala.

What has happened in Bangladesh is that the oppositon has used violence to achieve its aim. Not moblilzation, not people power, violence , so that at the end the army would be forced to intervene and ...thus the principle of the wise old elder once saying...if you do not lose, you win.

Both sides in Bangladesh's political diarchy are alike. Now one has used the army to strike down its opponent

Anyway, I know in five years time, dem go begin cry

Here in Nigeria, assuming peter obi won and some agbado came and said that army should intervene.....that agbado should be jailed for treason. Same thing for any one calling for the overthrow of any democratically elected government. If you cannot win...form alliances, and get ready for the next election

Because army rule...is very ruthless rule

(Abeg make no one quote me to tell me army built road. The same road that fell apart when they were still in power. Army built hospital...same hospital that was a mess by 1999. Abeg. I was there I saw the mess)

Modified

Remember how corrupt first republic was. Then came five majors...and voila the corruption dissapeared...until people woke up and saw that their leaders were dead, and started reading tribal issues into the thing. Then army rule turned out to be civillan rule of corruption with gun wielding men doing the talking. You don't fight with de man that holds a gun.
Ok, at the bolded, which one the civilian government done come do now? Yes I agreed that the military regimes was not good a good, but has the civilian government since 1999 showed any difference from them (especially the ones from 2015 till date)? Abi u nor hear say police and dss dey arrest the organisers of the protest wey dey happen now?

The civilian government has far proven to been worse than any military regime Nigeria ever had. Infact if the military regime has done half of the nonsense Buhari and now Tinubu is doing now, Nigeria wouldn't have survived up till this day

Liar..

It was after 2 years..
See u now, hypocrite... Jonathan was just a year and 7 months in office with signs of hope everywhere when the occupied Nigeria protest took place, mean while Tinubu is already a year and 2 months gone in office with no signs of hope in his government for the country.

Though am not against the protest but neither am I in support of the protest, because the enabling environment for protesting that we enjoyed from 1999 to 2015 has been compromised.

Comments like this are how you know the problems of Nigeria. The lazy youths who have never experienced the joy of planting something and watching it grow and later eating it fresh from the farm/ garden! Always eager to leap to insults to cover up for their laziness and inadequacy.

Plant what you can first and break this ridiculous dependence on rice that we have now cultivated. When we were young, rice was Sunday food and one other day of the week, now people eat rice everyday, a food that doesn't grow well here and dumped farming altogether and expects their economy to thrive.
People wey dey farm and them dey kidnap and kill them for their farm nkor?

Foreign Affairs / Re: Burkina Faso Coup Leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré Extends Military Rule By 5 Years by Realguyman1(m): 9:12pm On May 26
Sapeleboy911:

Sars was scrapped albeit souls were lost, but people confronted the government and the government even denied the atrocities they committed, Democracy in action again, what was the government afraid of that made her denied the allegations? Do you remember that #Endsars later turned to Igbo vs Yoruba war, tribalism at work. Since we all have agreed that Buhari and Tinubu are bad leaders what stopped us from repeating the GEJ #occupy Nigeria movement? Did Buhari or Tinubu stop us? In fact, do we all agree that Buhari & Tinubu were bad leaders?
Democratic government of denier and deceit is worst than military regime. People also confronted the government during the military regime, infact if the military regime of those days did half of the nonsense this current set of civilian government (Buhari and Tinubu to be precise) is doing now, by making life difficult and unbearable for most Nigerians, the protest would have been worst.

Yes people knows that Buhari and now Tinubu are didn't/isn't doing the right thing, but they can't do anything because APC have ended up planting and growing seeds of selfish politics, tribalism, religion and hatred into the heart of many Nigerians. That kind of Gej occupied Nigeria protest cannot hold again for now in Nigeria because the people involved then was only playing political, tribalism and religious games, and not because they have the interest of Nigerians or Nigeria at heart.

And all those games were allowed then because we had a civilised democratic president who believed in democracy and have the interests of the people at heart. With Buhari/Tinubu as the president now, try such protest today and see if head will not roll. Everyone knows the kind of old hard hearted president we have before/now, and what the outcome will be if they dear such protest. People will only die and nothing will change.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Burkina Faso Coup Leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré Extends Military Rule By 5 Years by Realguyman1(m): 8:26pm On May 26
Sapeleboy911:

They can speak out, call out or stage a protest, the GEJ subsidy fiasco, #Endsars are perfect examples. If we put aside our own corruption, tribal, and religious differences we can come together and say NO when our leaders are acting shady, or making unfavorable policies.

Take a look at what is happening between NLC and the FG, there are lots we can do if we unite to fight our bad leaders.

Imagine our senators and house of rep members sharing wheelbarrows, black pots, and mats as constituency projects, some are even doing mass marriages of orphaned female children and people are applauding them.
At the bolded, and how did the endsars went, did it end well with the civilians protesting? The the GEJ subsidy fiasco only went well because Gej was a gentleman who believed in democracy and took the interest of the people more than his own interest.

Gej and Yaradua have been the only guys that have practice through democracy since Nigeria move back to civilian government in 1999, the rest have been something else, especially this current calamity we have now as president. The old man is worst than all the Military government government Nigeria ever had.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Burkina Faso Coup Leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré Extends Military Rule By 5 Years by Realguyman1(m): 4:53pm On May 26
Sapeleboy911:

Lol funny you what happened during EndSars protest, was just a tip of the iceberg if it were to be a military rule. Nothing was cheap during military rule, even if you bought a bag of cement for #20 doesn't mean it was cheap then. Imagine funds stolen by Abacha are still being repatriated to date, and nobody dared to try him for corruption then.

No doubt there is corruption in our successive civilian governments, but do we the masses have the privilege and freedom to bring our leaders to book? The answer is a resounding YES. But we choose not to, due to what we gain from this same corruption, our tribal bigotry, or religious sentiments. In our democratic setting, we have the option of holding our leaders accountable or letting them ride on. We don't have such a huge privilege in military rule. If we were under a military rule, many landers would either be in detention by now or shot by firing squad due to how they are making a caricature of our past and current presidents.
At the bolded, what privilege do the masses has to bring their leaders to book in Nigeria?

You said let's give Jackson another season for him to pick up, but you still said if he doesn't pick up, you'll blame the coach for that... I don't understand

Haven't the coach given him enough encouragement already? Playing him week in, week out, and even defending him when the press comes for him is as much encouragement any coach can give a player

If you'll blame the coach when Jackson doesn't perform next season, then you better start blaming him from now.

About saying you don't see any player Chelsea will buy that'll perform in that position, well as someone answered, that's why they have a scouting department to look for players... Maybe they should even swap Jackson with Rashford... Lol
Oga at the bolded, I never said pick up, all I said is improvement. Jackson has scored 17 goals for Chelsea this season without any of them being a penalty. How person wan take pick up again?

Jackson has already picked up at Chelsea and all he needs now is improvements which also has a lot to do with the coach. If Jackson doesn't improve next season, then the coach has 50 percent of the blame.

Well said but Nkunku might get back to full fitness by next season and I think Lukaku is also coming, though not so sure about that. Jackson might also improve by next season as you suggested. Thanks
Chelsea at this moment don't need someone like Lukaku who feels too big of himself, he will only end up causing problems for the coach and the entire team.

Yes Nkunku might get back to full fitness, but he is not someone to be trusted because of his injury wahala (Moreover Nkunku is not a full top 9 striker). So the coach should better work on Jackson seriously to help improve in converting his goal chances and as well his mentality (like holding the ball unnecessary when there is a nearest man for him to pass the ball to and his unnecessary aggressiveness)

Santalpharay:

Can't tell for now. But their scouting and recruitment team will figure it out. They have the whole season to and the off season to do that. He might not be playing in a top league. But very consistent in scoring goals.
Bro I nor see any striker for Europe wey chelsea go buy now wey go fit perform for Chelsea. Chelsea get serious problem when it comes to top 9 strikers, and that's why they need to give Jackson another season to prove himself b4 talking about anything buying of new striker or not, because they will only end up wasting money as usual.

Though I'm not happy with the too many chances wasted by Jackson this season, but in a team like Chelsea where top 9 strikers do always have serious problems as soon as they comes, Jackson already scoring 17 goals with 5 assist, with this season being his first at Chelsea, is not a bad season for him at all. It is now left for the coach to access him and make him work on his errors and mentality so that he'll improve next season

To me Jackson played some good football this season which u hardly see from most top 9 strikers, all he needs to do is to work on his mentality and improve in scoring goals. I will only support those criticising Jackson if only he continues with his errors next season, and I will blame the coach 50 percent for that.

Lukaku played in Europe competition this season why Jackson did not, so if u are doing comparison, u need to do it with their domestic league games and not adding Europe competition to it.

With all the hyping, Lukaku only has 13 domestic league goals and 3 assist for Roma so far this season, why Nikolas Jackson with all the insult has 17 domestic league goals and 5 assist this season.
