Family / Re: 17.2% Of My Monthly Salary Goes To My Wife & Yet... by realvenc: 10:23am On Mar 25, 2017
In your third paragraph you made a clear submission based on the write up. Which is what I asked you how you came about it. And instead of a logical explanation you fly into an insulting rage like a hot headed kid.

Does not matter what you claim you suspect... Even your first and second paragraphs all made direct criticism of the OP for his IJN...If not backed by action... Which I felt was a good point.

aribisala0:
Are you literate at all or you just choose to open your mouth and start spitting in the air forr no reason. What couple? I suspect the story is a fiction and that is what I said .If you don't like it look for something hard like a mortar and knock your head against it till you see coconut water then drink some
Family / Re: 17.2% Of My Monthly Salary Goes To My Wife & Yet... by realvenc: 8:48am On Mar 25, 2017
The submission in your last paragraph was deduced from just this single incident or you know this couple before now.
Na wa

aribisala0:
If your so called IJN is that effective why don't you take this to him if indeed you are a Christian and not a hypocrite? Why bring it to social media. You think uttering IJN is a magic formula like abracadabra? If you do not immunize your child against polio and go about shouting IJN ,What is that? It is fooolishness.

Your life is a reflection of your inner person. Whether your marriage breaks or survives depends on the two of you and not your superstitious invoking of meaningless and countless IJN.

Clearly the one think people like you hate to do is to THINK. Because if you can think you will know that your marriage crashed a long time ago that is if it ever took off. When you "wife" can lie to you about hospital bill for your child and when asked "responds rudely" then you need to realise that you have no marriage. Such a person can and will kill you. I suspect however that this whole story is just attention seeking fiction
Family / Re: 17.2% Of My Monthly Salary Goes To My Wife & Yet... by realvenc: 8:23am On Mar 25, 2017
He claimed he called the hospital to complain about the bill and not because of distrust for the wife...

That, I believe is normal..

gbishman:
You are stupid man my friend, why would you not trust the wife you married.
You calling the hospital was quite petty.
Grow up dude.
Family / Re: 17.2% Of My Monthly Salary Goes To My Wife & Yet... by realvenc: 8:04am On Mar 25, 2017
Don't ever say this bro... Unless of course you no longer believe in your marriage which from your earlier posts I think you still do.

What your wife did is not good but do not turn it into an act of war or show of strength by denying her of any support as it is your responsibility.
You have the arsenal, physical and financial strenght plus intelligence to win so nothing to prove or gain.

For a solution in an issue like this, call your wife and talk to her as you would to your paddy wey fall your hand. Let her know what she did was wrong and not in your principle.......Don't scold her as you would a kid. She is your partner not your subordinate.

In marriage it is all in your hands to either scatter or mend. Gain respect or lose it as things unfold because humans are never perfect.

Romance / Re: She Constantly Ignored His DM On Instagram For 3years! Now They Are Married by realvenc: 10:46am On Mar 19, 2017
This was not persistence or consistency in any Love.
If she had opened the door to talk to him without letting him in for whatever reasons and he now persists till she lets him in then the story will look a little good.

There is no need suffering a guy by ignoring and snubbing him and expecting him to be patient and understanding. When he does not even know your stance.

solasoulmusic:

Haha I see persistence and consistency in love as a good thing you know you want something you have to be strong enough to wait for it the guy was patient with her and how many guys are like that nowadays how many are even humble and appreciative of a faithful woman

It depends where they learnt how to love some like me really learnt by not being loved right
Romance / Re: She Constantly Ignored His DM On Instagram For 3years! Now They Are Married by realvenc: 10:18am On Mar 19, 2017
My dear, it is weird that someone you ignored and could not talk to for 3 years, you have finally come to marry... No level of business or being busy should stop anyone from responding to a simple Hello whether offline or online.
Men are not always saints just that this scenario is particular with ladies here.. Asking them out must turn into a mountain climb and by the time they have come around either the guy has moved on or he is already exhausted to keep pace in the relationship itself.

If the guy had moved on then this supposedly good married life together would have been lost to both of them... It is a lesson.

amokeme:
What if she didn't want to mingle for those 3years? Or she had other things like businesses she was focused on? Some people have better things or priorities than sex or dating.
Is just sad that most people's thought are just one way..
And even if another guy was dating her and all... how about the guy? Was he alone for the 3years?
Oh sorry, I forgot, there is always a problem with "the Nigerian woman" but the men are always saints

Why are you bringing your Oyedepo into the matter yourself just to make a defense.
Reacting to the story; Any church or person that takes money from whoever that offers it without rejecting it outrightly if the source can't be explained and also openly preaching against stealing and the donation of stolen monies has a big problem.

Does not matter if it is a bishop, pastor individual, Tom or Harry.

We had a society once where parents, communities, churches openly questioned their wards about the source of their wealth. Criminals where never celebrated and crime/corruption was on the low.

Today the revise is the case and everybody should expect the church to play it's role rather than defend it.

tolujohnso:
Hmmmmm, now I truly appreciate d word ignorance. Jumping into conclusion without knowing how an event transpired n passing uninformed judgment is height of ignorance. There re so many questions dat all d enthusiastic critics of oyedepo can not answer at dis point but they are eager to comment.
Was d money given in cash or electronic transfer?
Was it given to oyedepo directly or dropped as offering during d course of normal church service?
Was is dropped in oyedepo branch or at other branch of d church?
Does oyedepo even know dis person who dropped the money?
Please do not speak profanity until proven dat bishop compromised his faith.
Be guided!

Wait... The joke is on him really...
35 million Naira is a few millions to a church and so goes unnoticed.

Why then are Nigerians complaining about corruption up and down if a church simply looks the other way while individuals (Not corporate bodies or even govt) donates huge sums of money to it. And these individuals are church members whose status are well known to the church and so without question the church know they mostly cannot legitimately afford it.

The church and Christians as a whole has got a moral and religious obligation to not put people to sin but rather to encourage people to leave their sin.
These hundreds of millions donations from church "VIPs" is not helping anybody in any way. Same as the over bloated school fees we see in church owned institutions which drive many people to corrupt practices both at business and work in order to send their wards their.

GlorifiedTunde:

The funny point is that you still think his money was noticed by the Church?

Do you even know.the.number of VIPs attending the Church that pay more huge amounts?

You think the Church has a record of someone paying that amount when hundreds are giving in hundreds of millions?

The joke is on you too brother. cheesy cheesy cheesy

I can't see where I have condemned anyone or claimed to be a Master of English Language.
All I said was that it is nothing to be proud of or excused or justified to be a graduate of a tertiary institution and at the same time can't express yourself correctly in simple correct sentences in the Language one is schooled. Does not matter if it is me or anyone.
Wrong is simply wrong.

And I still maintain that there are people who never went as far as any tertiary education but who are okay so the excuse of falling standard of education does not really stand for me.

Nusaf:

Pls stop condemning others cos ur English is not helping matters either. If u are in doubt, I will point out the embarrassing mistakes.
NYSC / Re: See The Reason Most Nigeria Graduates Are Unemployable (pics) by realvenc: 8:29pm On Apr 16, 2016
You can tell me it's a typo error and leave it at that.
Anyone who is a graduate of a Tertiary Institution anywhere in the world but cannot express themselves in simple correct sentences in the Language of schooling is simply not something to be proud of or to be excused.
English does not need to be the mother tongue, if not why waste time and space going to school.
And finally take up the space of well qualified people in professional employment positions later on through favoritism. And keep messing up the Nation.

Why not go and be a successful illiterate as most people on this thread has highlighted a lot of persons who never went to school but are successful.

Just saying...

Djbaka:
It's irrational to use this to judge their intelligence or ability to learn and perform. This could very much be a typo.

Tell the graduate to analyze/explain the simplest concept or solve a problem involving logic, then his/her thought process will give you an idea of how 'employable' he is.

English is not our mother tongue. It is true.
NYSC / Re: See The Reason Most Nigeria Graduates Are Unemployable (pics) by realvenc: 8:05pm On Apr 16, 2016
Thank you for this response as that has always been my thinking whenever I see the lame excuses people make on issues like this.
Why go to school in the first place especially as far as Tertiary education yet you cannot construct simple sentences. And most contributors here are supporting or excusing such.
The truth is this... if they cannot express themselves correctly in English the language of their over 15 years of Education then they cannot do same in any native language or Engineering or Medical Language as most people here claim.

Nigerians should simply stop supporting mediocrity else no need complaining about the state of the Nation cause it is all part of the problem we have today.

At most keep quiet or accept your shortcoming and go improve yourself, after all being educated has nothing to do with going to a formal school.

sonature1:

Just keep fooling yourselves. Look at this analysis:

Nursery school is 3 years

Primary school is at least 5 years

Secondary school is at least 5 years

High institution is at least 1 year

It is only a hopeless dunce that won't learn English after being taught for (3 + 5 + 5 + 1) 14 years in English as well as studying it as a course/subject. Sadly, your likes still turn around to, proudly, make the comment you just made whereas people like Maria Sharapova and Dimitar Berbatov learnt in a split second.

You have no excuse not to know English as a graduate from an anglophone country, period.

Seriously this is not just a matter of Right or Wrong, perverted or not perverted. It has more to do with the kind of values you teach a kid when you take certain actions in their presence. Remember their life is shaped by the things the see around them.
Now in this case what exactly are you teaching this kid?
There are 1001 other ways to teach/show a kid love and affection. If anything the kid should be the one behind the camera while the mom and dad should be the ones locking lips.

Anyways if the guy removed the photo then even he surely saw something not wholesome about the pose, especially the public display

Very intelligent and genuine write up.
You just highlighted the issues we face as a society and without showing any gender bias.
Evil is bad and has no gender, age or religion. The problem is we tend to blame the other party for our shortcomings.

gohome: Feminism.

A dirty word in some circles. When I hear the word, I think of fiery black women with dreadlocks or white women in badly fitting suits. Don’t ask me where these images come from; I don’t know. I do want to know: what’s all the fuss about?

I am a Nigerian woman. I am educated. I hold a job that pays me the same as my male colleagues. I voted in the last election. I can drive. I can own property… Now that I think about it, what exactly does being female forbid me from?

I can’t be out by myself late at night. Common sense. I could be robbed and/or raped. But that isn’t feminism’s war. That’s a function of security. A guy would be vulnerable too. Well, being female puts you at a disadvantage in the corporate world, some say. You can’t be a top-level executive. And they have stats to prove it. I’ll get back to that in a bit.

There are societal norms about how I should interact in society as a woman. But I think that those norms are shaped by the family I grew up in. I was told I was intelligent. Not relative to a boy. Intelligent in my right. The world was my oyster, the sky my limit, my life was charmed. My future was placed before me in pragmatic terms. I could be a career woman like my mother, keep a store close to home like both my grandmothers or be a housewife like many of my cousins. Each was a valid option and growing up, I was exposed to the pros and cons of each.

And this is the thing. A woman should have choices. We may not always agree with those choices (to stay with an abusive husband, to never marry, to take up a job, to become a housewife, to drop out of school) but they’re hers.

I was taught to respect men, to honour the man I would eventually marry. I like to think that my future husband was taught to respect women, like my brother was taught, like my sons will be. But I was also taught to pay for my drink. To be content with what I had. To earn my money without selling my dignity.

Society didn’t teach me this. Family did.

Yesterday, I took a male friend out to dinner. I called the waitress over. I requested the menu. I ordered. And when we were done, I requested the bill. When she got to our table, the waitress made to give it to him. I stretched out my hand to take it. She ignored me, and still pushed it to him. He smiled and handed it to me. The look on her face as I counted out the money from my wallet was priceless. Was I offended? No. Amused, more like. And frankly, I considered it too small to hold a grudge. I don’t blame society, I understand that it’s a function of her family and upbringing.

And then, there are bars/restaurants/clubs who refuse entry to unaccompanied women. On one hand, I find it amusing that a public establishment would seek to make moral choices for its patrons. On the other hand, I would boycott such an establishment. If you don’t want my custom, why would I force it on you? My own money? But I also think that this is a petty battle, and one I wouldn’t waste effort on.

What battles would I be interested in? Poverty alleviation. I hear of families that send only their sons to school because they think their daughters could do no better than to marry well. But often, these families can’t afford to send everyone and so they have to make a choice the best they know how. But what if they could afford to send them both? Would they still refuse? I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. And so our battle should be getting them across the poverty line. I know a mother who runs a small kiosk to support her family. Getting a bank loan to expand her business would be difficult. But that’s not because she’s female. Her husband is a vulcanizer (Nigerian term for a person who fixes tyres), and I daresay getting a loan would be difficult for him as well. It’s not really a gender problem, but one of class distinction.

Gender equality battles aren’t complete if we don’t fight for men’s rights, as well. Does this sound odd?

Back to the corporate arena. I overheard female colleagues complain that we aren’t well represented in our company’s leadership. They insist that D & I should be brought to bear. I differ. Leadership should be given to the most capable, not shared between the genders. If I want to be manager (as a male or a female), I have to work harder and longer than my peers to develop the right competencies faster. That’s easier when I’m unencumbered by family commitments. However, if after getting those competencies, I was turned down and the job given to a less competent male, then I would cry foul.

If I have a family, it gets harder. Some jobs are inherently incompatible with raising a family. With a family, I simply will not have enough time to develop those competencies faster than my peers. As a parent, I have a responsibility to raise my child. I can’t balance this with working long hours unless I have a very supportive husband. Let’s say he supports me 100% and he’s willing to take responsibility for our child. If he’s a house-husband, this is easy. But house-husbands aren’t common. Men have not been wired by their families to be house-husbands. So he has a job. Will his job let him close at 3.30 to pick our child from school? Will his job allow him take the afternoon off to take our child to hospital? Or his school’s soccer game? No. Women get those breaks in some companies, men hardly ever. And so this is what I think should be feminism’s cause. Flexible working hours for both sexes, so that each spouse can choose to support the other. Not just women, but men too. My husband should get paternity leave as long as mine so that if I choose to return to work a week postpartum, he can stay home to care for our infant. Amen?

There is the aside that even with these perks, some men would not support their wives’ ambitions. A shame, but that’s all it is. Society (or a movement) cannot force a man to support his wife, it’s a personal choice. The same way it’s a wife’s personal choice to support her husband.

But don’t hand me a promotion because it’s the politically correct thing to do. It’s an insult to my intelligence, and tells me I wouldn’t have been good enough otherwise.

Imagine stealing innocent peoples hard earned money and devasting them and then justifying with some crap.

Nigerians will never accept responsibility for their actions or inactions.. It is either the devil, or their ancestors or even God or in this case their victims accestors.

So You find yourself in the supposedly Gods own country, where everything works and the pasture is greener and GEJ is not even the president and cheap scam is all majority of Nigerians here can do. And many are still desperate and eager to come over.
Why cause we celebrate criminals in our society.

Thank you my brother for this. If this man is doing something that is not done (or rarely done) in naija and he is doing it legally and creating jobs and opportunities in process. I wonder why some people here are displaying their negative and biased mindset and making it sound like the are smart.

Even if it is a chinese car, his endeavour (whatever you call it) is creating jobs and opportunities which is somethingany well meaning Nigerian will commend.

If at all we should be taking abt how government can create policies. Plus enabling environment that can promote and support what he is doing.
For instance, if it meets necessary standards, why can't govt make IVM or any other being manufacturered (or assembled or whatever name u give it) in naija official brands or provide necessary tax breaks or other biz support or incentives so as to reduce cost of production thereby making it competitive.

Sometimes most Nigerians would rather we stay where we are cause it profits them or at best gives them something to say

Depends on the level of damage you are looking at. Are they runners or non-runners? If they are non-runners, they will have to be containerised. Which of the auctions are you interested in?
A running vehicle can be shipped via ro-ro provided the accident is not beyond what the shipping company can accept.

Does the info provided about the cars on the salvage auctions detail the problems with the cars. So one can estimate cost of restoration

My Brother, University year is a phase in the life of any individual and like most aspects of human life, it has its own score card. No need justifying below average performance just because u have been able to get ahead. As we have a lot of young minds here and they can get the wrong message.
Yes most graduates are better than the grades they made in school; Yes sometimes some other factors may have come in play but we should not for any reason down play the need to pursue excellence in whatever endeavour we get into. Be it academic or not.
Mind you going to school is not entirely about getting a job and also getting a job is not the standard for career or life success either. Unlike what the society here is making most people to believe.
So that u got a job ahead of your colleague with a better degree means nothing.
For the OP my advice to you is to access where you are coming from and reposition yourself by acquiring relevant skills and knowlege that will get u what and where you want to be in life.

[Squote author=tope56]I had 3rd class grade and in all the interview l,ve attended, they have never ask of my grade or my score in school, all what they want to see is your confidence and your ability to perform your job functions very well.
