hey Seun don't b discouraged. This should act like a wake up call for you. HOwever the only way you'll keep ahead of the competition is if they are chasing you and the oonly way that's gonna happen is for u to have a dream you're following. I'm talking of you having an end for nairaland in mind and not just trying to stay ahead of the competition. It's time to reinvent urself my man unless u wanna stay small forever. As someone said this site is agoldmine which just needs to be lit. So go ahead and light it. You should also consider getting some decent staff cos this one man business thing aint cuttin it oooooooooooooo |
Seun haba now! NObody will see this thing in this place u moved it to now! Besides u r not allowed to comment seeing as it's yours, but aren't there any other active forums with at least a few thousand members ![]() ?na wa oooo |
hey all, got into a discussion with some guys about the possibility of any other african or nigerian general discussion forums with as many members as nairaland. I said there were not any but they seem to think there are one or two. Does anyone know of any with at least 40,000 members (right now nairaland has 137,643 members)?? If u do please let's all know the name so we can settle this our arguement . |
Hi poster, u've already gotten great advice from everyone that's posted. Nice work yáll'. Just wanted to add this. U nid to have a vision for your shop. If it's only about making money it will just end up as one of the shops we just see by the side of the road all over Lagos and other big cities. You need to be able to see the end from the beginning. Meaning you can start small but you know how big you have to get and that's what drives you to achieve even more and more with the shop. You also need to identify what makes your shop different from other stores (is it ur products, customer experience, size, range, what exactly differentiates u?) so you know and promote the store's Unique Selling Point. Most Naija organisations can't do this and that's why most of em don't last more than a few years before folding up. But all said and done if you can identify how your shop is going to be special and u r sure this is what you really wanna do then GO FOR IT!

Hello landers, Sorry for my abrupt departure. The past few days have been really busy. Anyways, thanks for all your posts. I'd like to respond to some of your queries to clear the air. My company is first and foremost a recruiting firm. Which means we will have secure clients that need positions filled. Since i can't fill every position we will need to have suitably qualified people as vacant positions come up. The process usually employed is to first check our database for suitab;y qualified people and iff we don't find any or enuff, then we advertise. What this means to YOU is that if your CV is in my database you get considered before others. Please note that i did not say you get the job! However, you get a foot in the door. (For those that already understand this process, please be patient cos everyone doesn't and therefore i think it's important to explain). That should answer bstreet's query about sending her CV to others before. Belive me your CVis still with them,it's just that you haven't matched any of their open jobs. Now to LGR's edge, with our specialisation in the fields mentioned - ie Education, Accounting, Administrative and Clerical, Sales & Marketing- we actively look for companies that need people in these areas and provide people for them easily. SO it's easy to see that ifyou fall into this category you should send me your CV cos i can put it in front of the right people. Some will be selected and some won't. Ultimately that decision lies with the client and with YOU. If you want a job you need to tailor your CV appropriately, no typos, no shells, easy and powerful langauge. Regarding kolatiti's question of the relevance of food technologists, i'd say send your CV anyway. This is because while we will aggressively look for open jobs in the fields above, we will also get other jobs which we will try to fill, so everyone counts. I hope this is kool for everyone? If you have any questions just give me a shout and we'll sort it out. I'm posting some CV guides and cover letter templates with this message cos a lot of the CVs we received need to be better structured. You can use these as guides. Best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |
Hey guys, I have only received one or two applications for this position, is it that there is no one capable of being a computer teacher among us, or you think the job requires someone with in-depth computer knowledge. Still waiting for more responses. Best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |
HI Ink, The 1st question seems simple enuff. Just go ahead and discuss a time you missed a deadline, but the 2nd questin is where you've gotta shine. The second asks you for the repercussions right? Go ahead and state what happened, in terms of how your boss(es) handled it, did u get a query, reprimand or what but then go into what you learned personally from it. At this point you need to emphasize the lessons you took away from that failed deadline. This will make you come across as someone who's constantly learning and trying to improve on his/her abilities. Hope that helps. Best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |

hey got an excellent broking firm i use. It's called ITI (Integrated Trust and Investments LTD). Their people are really responsive and they also manage small portfolios under 200k. CBN (or some other regulatory body) published share capital of all stock broking and issuing firms a couple of months ago and theirs was sufficiently close to the stipulated amount, so i'm quite sure they're not gonna do a runner with my money. You can call em on 01-2630063 Hope that helps best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |

Good Day to the People "People" I'm not a pure HR professional working in the HR dept of a company but i'm a recruiter with LGR Consulting (nobody has mentioned us yet in this thread), a recruitment and People development company. My hat is off to you guys that take care of all aspects of the HR process and to the guys that are keeping this thread going. I especially want to commend yemmight, my brother those that help others find their way will never be lost themselves. I've been following some of the posts on the thread and just thought it would be time to stand up and be counted, so if anyone needs information or perspective from a recruiter, just say the word. best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |
Hi fellow landers, I work in a newly started recruitment company in Lagos and I've been going through this great forum for a few months now and really want to commend Seun and all those who keep it going. My company is really focused on securing jobs for mid-career professionals but because of some of the posts my colleague and i have seen on this forum we have come up with some new packages to improve the Nigerian job market. We have decided to have some specialization areas for specific job roles and develop pools of hundreds of CVs in these areas. We will develop such pools and pre-screen candidates so that companies can apply for candidates in those roles easily, it will also reduce some of the hassles of job searching if your CV is in our pool. We have carried out a test-run and find that the idea is viable but we require lots of quality individual CVs in each pool for it to work out properly. In light of this i'm asking landers who have either experience, training or passion for the following areas to send their resumes to www.lgrinternational.com/resume.php . Accounting Administrative/Clerical (eg front-desk personnel, PA, EA, customer service, secretaries etc) Sales or Marketing (eg Sales executives, Business Development, Product Development, Product Marketers etc) Education (eg teachers, nannies, assistant teachers, administrative personnel etc) Kindly indicate the role you are applying for on the top of your CV. Please spread this news to others as we can't have too many people in the pools. We have already filled one/two positions based on postings on nairaland so we are confident that landers can effectively spread the news. If you have any questions about either this posting or job-hunting in general, please feel free to ask me here. Don't waste time send it now!!! best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |
hi again, I didn't exactly get the kind of response i was looking for from my previous post. I thought it might be because i am not putting up a specific job, so i think i might as well put one up. I am presently looking for a Relationship Officer for one of our clients, that is a school in the ogba/agege area of Lagos. The job involves managing relationships with the school's partners, parents of pupils and other stakeholders. The successful candidate is also required to develop methods that will enhance the school's relationship with these stakeholders. The required candidate should have an HND/Bachelors degree in any relevant field. Prior experience in a relevant field would be an advantage but is not required. More importantly, the candidate must be warm, articulate and intelligent with good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint Good People and Communication (verbal and written) skills are strongly required Interested applicants should please fill out the application at www.lgrinternational.com/resume.php and indicate "Relationship Officer" at the top of their CV. Please send your CV before the week runs out because we already have some applications and the client wants to make a selection this week. Hope this helps. Best wishes ![]() RECRUITERONE |
