Sports / Ramos Reveals What He Really Thinks About Messi by rectitude(m): 9:35pm On Feb 28, 2020
The 33-year-old centre-back expressed his admiration for the Argentine, whom he considers to be one of the best players in the history of the game

Sergio Ramos has revealed he holds Barcelona counterpart Lionel Messi in high regard and, despite the rivalry between the Catalans and Real Madrid, he still considers him to be one of the best players ever.

Six-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi is having another hugely impressive season, with his numbers in 2019-20 seeing him score 23 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions for Barca, while he also has 16 assists.

Madrid host Barca in Sunday's eagerly-anticipated Clasico clash, with Ramos and Messi set to go head-to-head once again, and the Spain international admits to having the utmost respect for his Argentine rival.

"I have huge respect for him," he told La Liga. "I think he’s one of the greatest players in history and I have huge respect for him. I hope Sunday isn’t his day, that would mean we’ve done our job, and if on top of that we can get a good result even better.

"I wish him all the best as a fellow professional but only as long as it doesn’t affect us negatively! It’s hard, but he has my maximum respect, I think he’s one of the best."

Sunday's Clasico clash represents an opportunity for Madrid to leapfrog their rivals at the top of the table, with Zinedine Zidane's side having suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Levante in their last league match.

Los Blancos are also coming off the back of a humbling 2-1 loss at home to Manchester City in the last 16 of the Champions League, although Ramos is confident Madrid know how to get the better of Barca.

When asked how his side can cause the Catalans problems, Ramos said: "We’ve played them many times, so we know how to trouble them. Barcelona are a team who keep possession a lot. They’re most uncomfortable when you try to take it from them. Everyone knows that, not just Real Madrid.

"Putting pressure on them high up is risky but it causes them problems. Before it didn’t happen so much, maybe because teams gave them too much respect and they would play the ball out from the back really well. But I think that’s the key: pressure high up the pitch and try to steal the ball from them, that’s when they’re most uncomfortable.

"There’s always the risk that up top they’ve got very dangerous players who can be decisive in El Clasico. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, that we maintain our concentration from the first minute until the last and that things turn out as we want them to."

With three points potentially being crucial in the race for the Liga title, with just 13 matches remaining in the 2019-20 season, it's not lost on Ramos as to how important a victory would be at the Bernabeu.

He added: "It will be very tight. The points difference between both sides is minimal and the result could be decisive this season.

"But there’s still a long way to go, there are still a lot of points up for grabs and anything can happen. But a win would be huge for us, playing at home in front of our fans. That gives us extra motivation and satisfaction; together with them we’re stronger.

"Our rivals have to feel that, and so do we when we’re out there on the pitch. Hopefully we can make a statement with a win at home."

Education / Re: JAMB Orders ABU To Offer Girl Medicine After Being Accused Of Denying Her The Co by rectitude(m): 9:05pm On Jan 09, 2020
She was actually called by the management of the school before the Post Utme results was when out. And she was told to go change her course from medicine to anatomy, and she went ahead to change (being naive and following the school order) unknown to her, they actually knew she was the best and should be given the admission to study medicine, but they went ahead to inflate the Utme score of the other two students who are Muslims and decreased that of Shekwobyalo because she's not hausa and non Muslim.

The jamb registrar has uncovered the truth, he was only saving the ABU managements head by saying she wasn't the best. This is a first hand information on what happened and what ABU Zaria has been doing for years.
Education / JAMB Orders ABU To Offer Girl Medicine After Being Accused Of Denying Her The Co by rectitude(m): 8:53pm On Jan 09, 2020
The management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has been ordered by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede to grant one Miss Shekwobyalo admission in Medicine.

The order came after a review meeting with the representative of the Commissioner for Education in Niger State Bellu Attahiru, the Admission Officer of ABU Haruna Ali Mohammed, representatives of the Civil Society Organisations and top officials of the agency.

Miss Shekwobyalo who scored 309 in her UTME, had accused the management of the university of denying her admission in medicine because she is a Christian.

After the review meeting, it was found that she was not the best candidate from Niger state despite her 309 score in UTME. A breakdown of the top candidates from Niger State is as follows Isah Mujahid (UTME,296; Post-UTME, 303; and Average Score, 299); Hassan Ruqayyat Ndaisa (UTME,275; Post-UTME, 309; and Average Score, 292) and Thomas Goodness Shekwobyalo (UTME,309 ; Post-UTME, 274; and Average Score, 288).

Before giving out the order for Shekwobyalo to be offered Medicine, JAMB's registrar told the management of ABU who pegged its Merit List at two candidates per state that it was wrong.

JAMB Registrar, Oloyede said;

“Contrary to insinuations, this meeting has shown that Shekwobyalo was not discriminated against on religious or ethnic basis.

“We discovered that she has changed her course from Medicine to Anatomy.

” I spoke with her but she said somebody called her to change to Anatomy. Up till now, she has not shown any evidence.

” We discovered that ABU did something wrong. They were distributing merit on state basis. They decided to offer Medicine to two candidates per state.

“One of the achievements of this meeting is how to legitimize her admission into Medicine( MBBS).

” We have decided to reverse her Anatomy admission. ABU should put her on notice that she has been offered to read Medicine. It is left to her to accept or reject.

“JAMB exists to ensure fairness and justice to all. I have addressed many similar cases in about seven universities without sensationalisation on the basis of religion or tribalism.”

Also speaking after the meeting, Director of Schools and Educational Services, Mr. Bello Attahiru who represented Niger State's Commissioner for Education said;

” It is obvious she was not discriminated along based on religion. I will let the Niger State Government know the facts as laid down today. We thank JAMB for reversing her admission from Anatomy to Medicine.”

Though Shekwobyalo changed her course to Anatomy following a call/advisory she allegedly received from ABU, it was reversed to medicine and effected by the Admission Officer of ABU, Haruna Ali in the presence of stakeholders.

Mode please help move this to front page so people can know the Truth.

Some governors might be planning the removal of Adams Oshiomole, but i doubt it's because of President Buhari's Successor in 2023, the reason might not be unconnected to the so many grievious things Oshiomole has done since becoming the party chairman.... what comes to mind is the continuous problems between him and Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.

Okay....all those advocates of 'true federalisim'..see how your state police would be used ....by the governor to do and undo.

This is happening under FEDERAL police. Now ....imagine if this was Cross River State Police?

No matter how hard we try, the problem is Nigerians have no concept of human rights for all. That is why Abuja is jailing people like Sowore, and Ayade is jailing people like this guy. And unitl we change our attitude, restructuring would just be putting old wrtetched wine into new bottles...it's still the same old , tasteless wine!

FamousMonk:
About Xenophobia...
Let's quit the hypocrisy.
It is appalling..
Truth is,a typical Nigerian man doesn't care about what happened to some Nigerians in South Africa.
We are just trying to follow the trend and appear like good patriotic citizens who love each other..
Forget the posts and hate speech on twitter ,Facebook etc..
It is just for social media attention..
I repeat,as long as the killing of Nigerians do not affect the price of garri,a typical Nigerian doesn't care...
I woke up and decided to write about it too..
But I'm so sorry i cannot pretend to care when I really don't..
After the whole fracas,Nigerians will go back to their usual daily routine.
If I'm killed today,I will be buried and nobody will care.
We will post about it,empathize with the families of the victims, make it seem like we love and care about these people, but in reality,we don't ..
For me,I don't know them, and they haven't helped me in any way before so I swear,I do not care..
This is the bitter truth..
There is something fundamentally wrong with an African man's brain and way of reasoning..

There's certainly something wrong with you. You think only about yourself so speak just for yourself. People like you cannot be leaders because you lack the common understanding to know that you don't need to be related to a Nigerian before showing concerns about how they're treated in another African country, a country we helped to fight for their freedom with our blood and money.
If you have nothing better to say, I think you should just keep quiet.

Biko enough of all these emotional sentiments here and there.

What we need as a country is action!!!!

We need actions from everyone called a Nigerian . It’s high time we stand and put words to actions.

I am tired of empty words , I am tired of saying and doing nothing .

Our countrymen are dying , they need actions not words .

So so right.
