In organized societies this is what government through regulators watch out for. Not only crazy price profiteering increases but also artificial competition crushing price reductions which are equally undesirable.

The power sector is lacking investment today because they say tariffs are artificially low (through subsidies). Same thing can happen in the downstream sector and Dangote's actions can also damage new investment in refining. So the regulator needs to be on top of the situation and view the market, the sector and the overall economy, short, medium.and long term.

It needs to understand the gamesmanship of industrial players and blow the whistle for any infringement.

But like I said not by issuing licenses to import. That is not a regulators job description.

the overhead run of the refinery are computed in dollars, he can only use naira equivalence ..

With the quality and grade of fuel Dangote produces you cant expect it to be cheap as blended fuel imported by marketers But above all this man Dangote still manage to give Nigerians high grade fuel at lesser price such that those importing blended fuel struggle to beat Dangote price .. common
