Ok you can't be this dumb..so you leave it and don't initiate a process to fix it? So you expect to leave a faulty car by the roadside and in your little brain, you just want "people who may fix it" to pass by and do so? Do you just realize you just declared you are an irresponsible twerp....my God..hope you remain permanently out of Nigeria...with this attitude you won't last long abroad anyway..its ppl like you who go there and become destructive..imagine someone boldly saying they will leave their problems for others to fix ..again here is why Nigeria is a failed state...nah I'm done wasting time with you..no point..

9jaDoc:
It is called being wise. The correct anology is leaving your faulty vehicle with people who may fix it while you drive around in your neighbor's luxurious brand new vehicle. The foolish thing is to keep driving your faulty vehicle out of some misguided loyalty.
PoliticsRe: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by RedGold2017: 8:00pm On Dec 10, 2017
But who will solve the issue if everyone runs away..its like having a faulty vehicle, leaving it behind to go chill at your house, hoping it would fix itself. So Nigerians will labor to fix these issues and you will come back from america with your boogie ass to come and enjoy? just as you are doing now moving abroad to enjoy the opportunities countless others have died or fought for? I don't blame you, blame the likes of Martin Luther king and Rosa Parks who fought for black liberation else ppl like you will NEVER smell America except as slaves and when you get there sef you start looking down on black Americans with your self imposed superiority complex....mtchew...

9jaDoc:
Regardless of any those things in view if all the ills listed that are largely unobtainable in US don't u think it is better to chill in US till 9ja sorts itself out, assuming it ever will.

Thank God for people like you who understand that it takes you and I, and each drop of water in the ocean no matter how little will help grow it. The only problem this guy has is that he may be facing being illegal in the US. Yes he should try as much as possible to legalize that will be his best bet, but if that fails to happen staying in the US illegally would be the beginning of his problems.

OlaEkundayo:
I moved home this year from the US after a medical degree, a master's degree, a PhD and medical specialisation. That's after 15 years. My objectives were clear: to develop my specialty and to ensure knowledge transfer to Nigeria.

It was rough but I got used to it. The biggest problem of Nigeria is also it's greatest strength; the people. I will advise that you find the right people to help smoothen your transition. Find people who are not interested in grabbing from you but in genuinely helping you resettle.

You must come with a mndset that it won't be easy. You will be your own city council. You will have to generate your own power and water.

They will never pay you enough. At least that's how it will seem at first. It used to take less than a week to use up what the Government was paying but as you settle into the Nigerian system it will get better. Since you're in I.T I expect that you'll have quite a number of opportunities and a different set of challenges.

The difference between you and is that I obtained citizenship and I still go back and forth with all our plans with the knowledge and technology transfer.

I can tell you this. Once you are settle in and you're generating the right kind of income Nigeria is a decent place to live in. It's a fertile ground and someone such as yourself will be amazed as to how much you can accomplish.

So have a clear road map, find the right people, be mentally prepared. If I can do it so can you.
PoliticsRe: List Of Nigerian Ills And How To Solve Them by RedGold2017: 7:38pm On Dec 10, 2017
So how is that a government induced issue? Rather it's more of a systemic issue , whereby a collective group is exploiting loopholes in the system to achieve their evil aim. Those group of people are people like you and I. Nothing to do with Buhari or Ambode. In cases like these you begin to look into the holes in the system and work out a strategy to cover the loopholes as much as possible. If you put technology in place that tracks each and every activity, they can trace it back to the individual or group of individuals that committed the crime. There must be footprints left everywhere, at some point a bank official or officials must have compromised the system. If technology is used as should then it's impossible for one individual to have 2 BVNs , if they do, it's either fingerprints were not scanned or rules were bypassed. And in order for this to happen you will see a trail of individuals who had a part in it knowingly or unknowingly. This actually strengthens our arguments that Nigeria's problem is a systemic one. It stems from people like you and I. Greed is a human thing , if your average American knows they can get away with crime they would do it. But over the years they have put checks and balances in their system that if one person compromises it, chances are the act will be caught somewhere else down the line. But this takes a collective group of people doing their part and adhering to rules. And also tightening your systems as fraud is detected, but this is the bank's responsibility not Buhari's. Even in America of today, fraud protection is still work in progress. A lot of Nigerians are ungovernable and have no respect for rules and would bypass it for personal interest. If we don't begin to teach our young on how impactful their actions are and to always think things through, history will repeat itself. They can only be a result of what they are taught. Even your almighty America that you worship, they teach their kids social responsibility at a very young age. Adults will show the young how to use the trash can, while the average nigerian adult will tell a child to help them throw trash out the car window, please tell me how would the child know any better when he grows up?
You can continue ranting and please leave nigeria and never come back, the place will be better without your likes..but I doubt you can do that. I give you a handful of years if you are outside nigeria and you will begin to understand the points we are making today. If you are so angry at nigeria you will not be on this forum to begin with, but I guess your roots will not let you rest at night.

Yes..with the money they can go raise their dead relative and they can all enjoy the money together and live happily ever after..im sure that will solve all their worries in this world.

You no lie jare..you can save 100% of your income and lie that you have no income so you can collect benefits and live on freebies other ppl have worked for, cheat the system and you wonder why some americans loathe immigrants.

9jaDoc:
But u should not even be mentioning US and 9ja in the same breath. It gives the impression there is a comparison. Those people u read UNINTENTIONALLY shot by police, their families got millions. Google it. In 9ja the police will kill already arrested suspects in their cells and u will hardly hear about it. If they accidentally kill u it ends there. No compensation or anything.
In US you can save almost 100% of your income if u wish and still survive fine. 9jas don't have that choice. You can also spend 150% of your income and be in debt grin. It's up to you.

You have done well..you must have been very prudent. If you keep it up, you have to wait till you are 60 to spend your own savings..then all those taxes you never pay , you will end up paying. So let's say you just decide to be angry pack your bags and go to 9ja today , cash your 401k, you will pay 10% penalty , then taxes, just maybe you can get 90k out of your 150k,which is still good money . But then we wonder why America is "So great" , yeah they just took 60k out of your sweat to build their roads, healthcare and other things. So whenever you drive on that free way and smile that life is good and government is working, please remember that your sweat too join. You are consistently helping another man build his land and make America great again.

Go through the thread and re-read my posts, nowhere have I made any comparisons. The point I have been harping on is that America is no heaven on earth and when I see people out of ignorance make choices that will marr them for life , I shake my head. By all means travel, I think travelling is education , even if Nigeria were perfect I would still travel. When you see the ignorance of ppl that have not left their home state , you will get my point. What I would never support is taking extreme measures to go and be burden in another man's land when they owe you nothing. People have made these ill choices some 30yrs ago with their then young kids in tow and now those kids are now adults and are being deported to a country they don't know anything about to BEGIN AGAIN, and if they are not ones that have worked or have been prudent financially , being deported can be likened to suicide. I bet their parents did what they did because they thought it was their best interest. I'm not trying to knock any country, there are pros and cons, don't care where you go. America has a lot of vices, for every one of your brothers killing for rituals in 9ja, theres a young man in missisipi that's killing people just because he's bored or would like to collect their panties in his treasure box down in his basement. For every Sars there are policemen killing unarmed black ppl. America is where it is because they have adopted a culture over years which most Nigerians are unwilling to do. Hospitals are powered by your money, from taxes to insurance to charity donations, walk into a hospital without insurance and beg doctor in the name of Allah and see the type of treatment you get. Forget to pay your electric bill for 3 days and walk into a freezer after they disconnect you light. There's no oga Nepa please wait till next week.
All we are saying is if you want what America has, work for it..it takes years, it's not a 10yr or even 20yr something. It takes decades of community cooperation to get any where. If you see how Americans protect their community you will understand. Litter their community and you will see how they will confront you. Play loud music and wait till the cops show up at your door. Your average nigerian as long as he has fan , he doesn't care if generator fumes or noise kills his neighbour, maybe you will get my point sha..maybe someday ..abi..

You no lie, but just make sure your jazz strong pass and you never lose that job, car dealership will repo your car in a heartbeat if you are continuously behind on your payment. That plus depending on your credit by the time you finish paying , you could have bought 2 cars if you had cash.

See thats the slave trap America has gotten everyone onto. America is built on credit and the 1 percenters are the ones that are truly rich..1%. You think you are living good, until you lose your job and can't find one on time, and nope not everyone one will receive unemployment assistance, that's dependent on your status and is calculated based on how much you were earning. If you are lucky it will cover you rent and when collections call to collect car payment you will be speaking Hausa in no time.

TravelRe: Moving Back To Nigeria From USA by RedGold2017:
And you passed maths when you wrote WAEC...i'm dying of laughter here, save for taxes , all the other expenses are per month..so.multiply it as needed and see how much is left...kids..smh

Depending on location, $1200 Is pretty cheap for rent..
And he's not even adding other expenses, hair cut, clothing other miscellaneous expenses..

justwise:
Salary= $55K

Expenses:

Rent= $1200

Electric bills $100

Phone bills $70

Car insurance $250

Gas $250

Cable $50

Food $400

Taxes $17000

Total = $19,320

Now $55K take away $19.320 = $35,680

Why are you unable to save $400 a month?

I like that you took time to give this testimony, still many will not get it. They are young, so let them explore, the ones that are smart would be able to pick wise words from this thread. Wait for them also to come and attack and insult you that this is a made up story. At end of the day, whether home or abroad there are some principles to life, it takes many years to realize some go to their graves with no self actualization or realization.
My favorite quote is this
"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right"

Deban:
My advice, there is nothing like home. Home is where you make it, but you have to be rugged, determined, smart to hit the ground and running.

A lot of people do not fulfill there potentials abroad until they finally come home. In the US or Europe, you don't get close to those in government because you don't know them. there are procurement jobs or contracts by the US or European government. The people in government patronise companies of people they already know, being childhood friends, neighbours, school mates. Now, not being born Americans or Europeans mean you will be a stranger and outsider to this opportunities. You can't really fulfill your potentials. In the end, you end up working forever in US or Europe and live from hand to mouth. In Nigeria, you will have opportunities to own and grow your company and have your childhood friends, school mates in authority patronise you with contract or procurement job or whatever field of specialization. You can actually be employer of labour in Nigeria. Most owners of the new generation banks were trained in US or Europe.

I lived in the Western world for over 13 years, with Masters degree from there. Naturalised and kids. but I struggled from hand to mouth. I worked in the financial industry. I tried coming back several times but left out of frustration. But I know I want to live well and rule my world than live where the time determines what I do, wake, work, gym, watch TV and sleep, only to wake up and repeat same activity the next day, seeing less educated white boys boss me. I know I did not want to see white boys bidding and getting contracts from the borough while I struggle to bid and win after I registered my company. During President Jonathan's era, many US and Europe based flooded Nigeria. I seized the opportunity. I registered a company in Nigeria and started networking and winning contracts. Invested in transport with my buses plying Lagos, Abuja, PH. Expanded my fleet during Jonathan's era because profit was good. Recession has made it difficult making profit but still hanging on. Can actually train my kids in the West from proceeds I make from Nigeria. Can drive Range Rover, Toyota High Lander, Chrysler 300, Sienna paid cash in Nigeria and not mortgage as we so in the western world. I can buy land and build easily with profit from a business in Nigeria. You have to network and work hard. I finally caught up with my friends who stayed back in Nigeria after we left school while I wet overseas. While I was in abroad, they were doing better financially and visited me and I cursed myself for ever migrating. But with determination, I left the circle of work, eat, watch TV, sleep, came down to Nigeria and improved financially, happier, livelier, more comfortable. When things became better, went back and gave out most valuables I had. I can not see myself going back to live permanently overseas again. My very closed relatives who migrated to US in the 70s and with several degrees do not have the cash I have since I came to hustle in Nigeria. Dangote could be the richest African because he is based in Nigeria. He would not have been if he migrated to US or Europe. There is opportunity in Nigeria, but leave your options open to go back if it does not work well in Nigeria. Target a business where you will have 180m Nigerians patronising you. The population is a huge market. Agriculture/farming is lucrative. Eatery or Supermarket can be lucrative too. I know a girl friend who left the US to Nigeria and went into fish farming about the year 1999. By when I came in 2012, she was making a lot of money from it and regretted not coming back from US much earlier. There is nothing like home where opportunities are many, but prepare your mind to deal with security issues, rowdiness, unruly traffic and drivers, bad road, corrupt police, power failure. Your determination to succeed will see you through in Nigeria.

it is fun living in Nigeria.

What the WEST has to offer you? As in are you serious right now? Like they owe your great great great grandfathers and mothers anything? This is what I'm saying, sense of entitlement where you haven't earned it. I pray your immigration hustle comes through, you will be in for the shock of your life. It's 2017 and someone is asking who are you in Nigeria? And we wonder why Nigeria is a failed state...smh.
If you can't have the mentality that you can be anything against all odds...i don't even know where to begin from.
Judging from his comments here..this is the point where he will start engaging you and trying to get you to declare your worth, while he's missing the simple concept that success is not always monetary, but always about how much fulfilment you get from an endeavour. If you earn 50k naira a month and you help teach young kids to believe in themselves as they are going to be leaders tommorow , i will take yours as a success story. Life all about IMPACT , you either get it or dont, but again don't blame him, na champagne generation dey trouble am.

You are making mistake bro. I hardly tell people that I work because I believe in the street and I have been a street hustler. I am working and my salary is good. Lol, atleast above 100k. But the point is, I am a freelancer and I have always been. I stopped blaming the government when I read on fiverr forum how the problem of the world seems to be the same and only the lazy ones keep blaming and depending on the government.

We sell caterpillar parts and we have the ones we hire for road construction, so I have been dirty monitoring projects etc and I can tell you that I have joined in making transactions outside Nigeria. Most of the caterpillar parts we sell are imported and I know what it means to trade in dollar and that of Naira.

On fiverr, people hardly sell as a Nigerian but I do and I make sales more than most Nigerian-US sellers. The other day in fiverr forum, someone came claiming that Nigerians are scammers, I spoke up and the thread was deleted.

Everyday, US citizens seek for a way to earn money on Amazon, only few Nigerians do that. The business section is one of the sections of nairaland with less visitors, you see most of them in politics and romance section.

Bro, if you believe Nigeria is a hard place, it will be for you and if you are waiting for 2019, then you will be heart broken
TravelRe: Moving Back To Nigeria From USA by RedGold2017: 8:59pm On Dec 08, 2017
The reason why Nigeria is a failed state is right here on this thread, it's "THE PEOPLE " . We blame the government often, but the people are the government. I shake my head for the next nigerian generation, most Nigerians need major re-orientation. For some odd reason Nigerians think it's easy overseas, I shake my head. Let me tell you a fact, if you can't make anything out of yourself in Nigeria, you will NEVER do better abroad either. Until you've worked and struggled abroad with no moral support and you suffer from bouts of depression, you will NEVER understand. Your average American believes in their country and most have stayed to make it what it is. If they bailed at any sign of challenges, you will not be dying to cross over.
How i wish the American government can just grant the wishes of some of you so you can go and experience life or If there wasn't any option to relocate maybe you all would make something of yourselves.
OP, in life strive to find yourself wherever you are, by all means do not be an illegal alien in any country, it never really ends well. It's either you find a way to legalize or start mapping out your plan to come to Nigeria. 30k is about 10mill , you can buy treasury bills. Take the almost 2mill upfront, find someone to room with on the island, pay a years rent with half. And start exploring opportunities. It's not a must you should wear suit and tie and scavenge the whole city for employment. Try looking for areas of improvement where you can provide service. Even in today's America, if you want to make it big you have to think of ingenious ideas and areas that haven't been tapped into. Same applies anywhere in the world if you don't want to remain complacent with mediocrity.
Re-orientate yourself from all these kiddos and oldies that aspire to the champagne lifestyle, you can survive on what you have till something works out. Ignore all these ones whose role models are politicians, scammers and what not, do not despise the power of good old hard work and dedication, it still goes a long way. Problem with Nigerians is everyone wants to arrive quickly, someone without employment for 10yrs wants to be a boss in 1 month, that's why most of them are mostly unemployable. Always envious of the person with a car/ better life when they don't know their story or how much they worked to get it. Your average American starts working at McDonald's or the mall.at age 16 to grasp the concept of earning a living, life just doesn't happen, you work you way through it.

My point? it all boils down to you, stay illegally in the US and God help you Trump and his people come after you, you will find yourself at the back of MMA with only a knapsack to your name. Be wise.
