When she left, her presence was felt
even in her absence,
I felt maybe out of sight would
keep her out of mind, true,
but it was never out of Heart,
she left with the keys of my heart
where she went I knew
going there would seem like a fluke,
so I watched from afar
till my looks became a glance,
a glimpse and then my sight lost her,
and I was left as an ailing boy
Love did not take long to find me,
when cupid shot his stupid arrow
it struck a damsel who saw my aching heart
and sought to heal it
but how can a mere physiologist carry out an operation for a qualified surgeon,
the keys to where needs healing was lost
needs to be found,
but she never listened and I blame cupid,
because she fell for me but
fell so hard to the ground
all because I needed no one but my NURSE.

When she saw my love was not reciprocal
she left me in the puddle of loneliness,
while i await the return of my NURSE,
but she never came back,
so tired of waiting I searched on Facebook
for my NURSE,
but the answers it gave
made me more determined to face my books and remain lonely,
I even told the bird that sings to tweet her
Of my feelings,
but I never got a retweet,
so my search continued day after day
And 8 years after I finally got her digits
through a friend of Blessing
that Sunday was a Blessing.

When I called her my hands were sweaty,
my mind was going over
how to explain my self to her,
my brilliance meant nothing here,
all I heard was the beating
of my heart against my chest,
and when she said “hello”,
the waves of memory swept over me
and I said “how are you?” and she said “Fine, and she said “who is this”
“and how did you get my number?”,
the reply sent sound waves that
struck my boat broken,
she couldn't hear the beating of my heart
or the words that followed
so she hang the call.
We talked later on and how time flies,
even if I still love her,
her heart might belong to someone else
I respected that fact and sought to
see my NURSE one more time.

I wrote this poem for her and
I hope she likes it,

“After over 7 years,
I have found her,
the one who took my heart
placed it in lock of palms,
maybe unknowingly but she took the keys,
and I ne'er saw her beautiful face again,
and I have been a lonely man all these while,
a sick patient waiting for my NURSE,
I begged the stars to carry my message
every night to her,
that my love is drowning in distance,
that I would travel the tides to get the keys back,
and then I finally saw her......”

When we met she was still beautiful as ever,
even with my class, intelligence and good looks,
they all fell like a heap of dry grass
when I shook her hands, she was still as welcoming as that very day in Church
when she called me Doctor!,
I told her who I was
she remembered but her memories were hazy,
I told her after she left I had no drive
to continue as a Doctor,
so I'm almost an Engineer,
she was not even a science student
she looked so beautiful and befits the course
she was to study, Banking and Finance,
we talked and we laughed like old friends and I stepped on her toes,
but the memories I have of that day
I would cherish,
we even walked on a rail track
like two Indian love birds
and when I was going my heart beat
which was faster when I met her was slower,
I then knew I had gotten my keys
from my NURSE,
when we hugged I felt like the most loved,
I would never forget my NURSE.

To complete the poem
“she was no longer a little girl,
and I was no longer a little boy
and our paths never crossed all these years,
and all my fears are gone now
I have seen her at last and I am free,
and i was not even a Doctor,
and she not a Nurse,
but I fell in Love when
I didn't even understand what it meant,
if I have gotten over her, I don't know,
but she should know
that at one point in time,
someone loved her and yearned for her love”

Dedicated to MY NURSE( I.F.T)

MY NURSE

I fell in Love before I even knew what it meant,
when Judith asked me playfully when I was just a kid
I told her about my NURSE,
that I would marry her,
not even understanding the hurdles of love,
I met her in the children's department at the local church
she was a beauty, a sight to behold
her face was a gaze at the stars her
voice sang an elfish lullaby,
she was fair amongst others,
we were never very close and my
Love for her had no holds,
everything fell in place and soon
she became my NURSE.

The Children's day celebration draw close, though I was no artist it
drew us close,
closer because when the drama was selected it was the good Samaritan and I would
act the doctor and she the nurse to the patient,
unknowing to me I would be the patient,
it was after that drama and that beautiful scene
when she called me Doctor
I responded Nurse,
the clock in my chest went anti clockwise,
my heart was recalibrated
I fell so hard for her hoping I would be caught
before I land but my NURSE left.......

PEACE

Have you seen the lonely waters at sundown,

Her tranquil is a medication to aching hearts

Her daily companion is a never lasting lover

She tip toes to visit but goes when I'm in need.

Nobody experiences her touch with regards

Regards for her every presence, every second

But she is a bitter sweet experience

There today, but leaves on the morrow.

Even I yearn for her every second expended

She calms raging storms with her voice,

She wets desert halls with dew drops of love

She is all we need this life and after, PEACE.

First a teaser...then after like 50 likes, I complete the poetic story.

Finally one character I love so much his anger, handsomeness and good heart all led him down...OBIKA I enjoyed his fury here......

Ezeulu took no part in the consultation that followed. When the Court Messenger and his companion returned to the hut it was Akuebue who told them that because of the respect he had for the white man Ezeulu had agreed to send his son, Edogo, to bring back whatever message there was for his father. ‘In Umuaro it is not our custom to refuse a call, although we may refuse to do what the caller asks. Ezeulu does not want to refuse the white man’s call and so he is sending his son.’
‘Is that your answer?’ asked the Court Messenger.
‘It is,’ replied Akuebue.
‘I will not take it.’
‘Then you can go into that bush there and eat shit,’ said Obika. ‘Do you see where my finger is pointing? That bush.’
‘Nobody will eat shit,’ said Akuebue, and turning to the messenger he added: ‘I have never heard of a messenger choosing the message he will carry. Go and tell the white man what Ezeulu says. Or are you the white man yourself?’
Ezeulu had turned a little away from the others and begun again to pick his teeth with the broomstick.

“Mma madu” man wey know man did not start today, it started from somewhere.....the messenger here was very rude due to his position as common among Nigerians who habe big Ogas, and even went as much as pointing out the dues to be paid to access the white man....Corruption started a long time ago

‘Thank you. We are all men here but when we open our mouths we know the men from the boys. We have spoken many words already; some were words of profit, some were not; some were words of sanity and some words of drunkenness. It is now time to say why I have come, for a toad does not run in the daytime unless something is after it. I have not come all the way from Okperi to stretch my legs. Your own kinsman here has told you how Kaputin Winta-bor-tom has put me in charge of many of his affairs. He is the chief of all the white men in these parts. I have known him for more than ten years and I have yet to see another white man who does not tremble before him. When he sent me here he did not tell me he had a friend in Umuaro.’ He smiled in derision. ‘But if what you say is true we shall know tomorrow when I take you to see him.’

‘There is one small thing I forgot,’ said the Court Messenger. ‘There are many people waiting to see the white man and you may have to wait in Okperi for three or four days before your turn comes.
But I know that a man like you would not want to spend many days outside his village. If you do me well I shall arrange for you to see him tomorrow. Everything is in my hands; if I say that the white man will see this person, he will see him. Your kinsman will tell you what I eat.’ He smiled and put his fez back on the head.

Change necessarily is not wrong but how you react to it determines a lot, when the white men came Ezeulu saw better and he acted wisely...

Perhaps the time had come to bring him out again. But what would happen if, as many oracles prophesied, the white man had come to take over the land and rule? In such a case it would be wise to have a man of your family in his band.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: “The inquisitive monkey gets a bullet in the face.”

----------------------------------------------------------

At first Oduche did not want to go to church. But Ezeulu called him to his obi and spoke to him as a man would speak to his best friend and the boy went forth with pride in his heart. He had never heard his father speak to anyone as an equal. heard his father speak to anyone as an equal.
‘The world is changing,’ he had told him. ‘I do not like it. But I am like the bird Eneke-nti-oba. When his friends asked him why he was always on the wing he replied: “Men of today have learnt to shoot without missing and so I have learnt to fly without perching.”

---------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: ‘An old woman is never old when it comes to the dance she knows.’

----------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: A man who knows that his anus is small does not swallow an udala seed.”

----------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: The man who sends a child to catch a shrew will also give him water to wash his hand.”

----------------------------------------------------------

Proverbial excuse: greeting in the cold harmattan is taken from the fireside.

----------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: A disease that has never been seen before cannot be cured with everyday herbs.

-----------------------------------------------------------

When we want to make a charm we look for the animal whose blood can match its power; if a chicken cannot do it we look for a goat or a ram; if that is not sufficient we send for a bull. But sometimes even a bull does not suffice, then we must look for a human.

Every problem has its own solution, you cannot use paracetamol to treat Syphilis...

-----------------------------------------------------------

Proverb: This is what our sages meant when they said that a man who has nowhere else to put his hand for support puts it on his own knee.

When you have nobody to give you support or help, you'll have to rely on your own strength.

-----------------------------------------------------------

‘As for being alone, do you not think that it should be as familiar to me now as are dead bodies to the earth?...........

Nothing appears new to someone who has been going through the situation before....a corpse remain cannot irritate an Anatomist.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Proverb: Our sages were right when they said that no matter how many spirits plotted a man’s death it would come to nothing unless his personal god took a hand in the deliberation.’

When a man has enemies, his household is always part of the plot........

When Nwaka was telling a spiritual story through his masquerade something struck me about the African culture, even though we paint it so bad, it's unique and as all powers could be used for good so also is the African power, though its inhabitants prefer the evil aspect....... enjoy.......

Folk assembled, listen and hear my words. There is a place, Beyond Knowing, where no man or spirit ventures unless he holds in his right hand his kith and in his left hand his kin. But I, Ogalanya, Evil Dog that Warms His Body through the Head, I took neither kith nor kin and yet went to this place.
The flute called him Ogalanya Ajo Mmo, and the big drum replied.
When I got there the first friend I made turned out to be a wizard.
made another friend and found he was a poisoner. I made my third friend and he was a leper. I, Ogalanya, who cuts kpom and pulls waa, I made friends with a leper from whom even a poisoner flees.
The flute and the drum spoke again. Ogalanya danced a few steps to the right and then to the left, turned round sharply and saluted empty air with his matchet.
I returned from my sojourn. Afo passed, Nkwo passed, Eke passed, Oye passed. Afo came round again. I listened, but my head did not ache, my belly did not ache; I did not feel dizzy.
Tell me, folk assembled, a man who did this, is his arm strong or not?
The The crowd replied: ‘His arm is indeed very strong.’ The flute and all the drums joined in the reply.

And I had to wonder where he got such a loud mouth from before I saw this....

But if it was, where did Nwaka get this power? For when we see a little bird dancing in the middle of the pathway we must know that its drummer is in the near-by bush.

From the final chapter of The Pacification of the Primitive Tribes of the Lower Niger, by George Allen, which Captain Winterbottom had lent him( Tony Clarke) ......
‘For those seeking but a comfortable living and a quiet occupation Nigeria is closed and will be closed until the earth has lost some of its deadly fertility and until the people live under something like sanitary conditions.
But for those in search of strenuous life, for those who can deal with men as others deal with material, who can grasp great situations, coax events, shape destinies and ride on the crest of the wave of time Nigeria is holding out her hands.
For the men who in India have made the Briton the law-maker, the organizer, the engineer of the world this new, old land has great rewards and honourable work. I know we can find the men. Our mothers do not draw us with nervous grip back to the fireside of boyhood, back into the home circle, back to the purposeless sports of middle life; it is our greatest pride that they do – albeit tearfully – send us fearless and erect, to lead the backward races into line. “Surely we are the people!”
-----------------------------------------------
This message simply points out what we are having in our country today.
Nigeria is an hustling Nation, if you are looking for comfortability, it's only an illusion until the people are living under sanitary conditions and the earth has lost some of its deadly fertility....I don't really understand the deadly fertility part but I guess it's pointing the black oil sitting beneath the soil.

THEY ARE ASLEEP
Where art thou leaders of tomorrow
Do you still suck at thy mothers breast
When your father anticipates your rivalry
Are you still asleep in silence
When your father's voice commands injustice.

Do you only know how to like and follow
When your world awaits your lead
Do you still Facebook all your focus, Trying to see how your face looks
You still tweet failure while we wait
She bemoans for freedom from the touch of the depraved old man.

Are you lakunle too erudite you ignore the jewel
Yet allow a baale be the lion
You only talk active on the media
Believing you are social,
But the fragrance of your speech is local
You are talkatives yet have no vocals.

Your thoughts are wiser to lead
Yet you communicate negation of time, You forget yesterday was once tomorrow,
Dreams remain packed piled in a cart,
Dumped in the warehouse of disappointment.

Awake before it becomes too late, Death is the final destination,
A fate everyone must face,
Thoughts should drop dreaming pillows, Works should pop wishful balloons.

Leaders of tomorrow slumbers off their future
Tutors become students forget soon our culture
Our tongues only speak profanity of the future
Forgetting we are the products to the reactions,
Inquisitively are we growing tall or we are growing up.

At over 2000 kilometers long, The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure on Earth

Coral reefs consist of huge numbers of individual coral polyps – soft-bodied, invertebrate animals – linked by tissue. The Great Barrier Reef is an interlinked system of about 3000 reefs and 900 coral islands, divided by narrow passages, just beneath the surface of the Coral Sea.Spanning more than 2000 km and covering an area of some 350 000 sq km, it is the largest living structure on Earth and the only one visible from space. But this fragile coral colony is beginning to crumble, battered by the effects of climate change, pollution, and manmade disasters.

The average person walks the equivalent of five times around the world in a lifetime

The average moderately active person take aound 7,500 step/day. If you maintain that daily average and live until 80 years of age, you’ll have walked about 216,262,500 steps in your lifetime. Doing the math; the average person with the average stride living until 80 will walk a distance of around 110,000 miles. Which is the equivalent of walking about 5 times around the Earth, right on the equator.

2. The average human body carries ten times more bacterial cells than human cells.

It’s funny how we compulsively wash our hands, spray our countertops and grimace when someone sneezes near us—in fact, we do everything we can to avoid unnecessary encounters with the germ world. The truth of the matter is that each and every one of us is a walking petri dish! All the bacteria living inside you would fill a half-gallon jug or 10 times more bacterial cells in your body than human cells, according to Carolyn Bohach, a microbiologist at the University of Idaho. Don’t worry, though. Most of these bacteria are helpful; in fact, we couldn’t survive without them.

For one thing, bacteria produce chemicals that help us harness energy and nutrients from our food. Germ-free rodents have to consume nearly a third more calories than normal rodents to maintain their body weight, and when the same animals were later given a dose of bacteria, their body fat levels spiked, even if they didn’t eat any more than they had before. The gut bacteria is also very important to maintaining immunity.

1. There is enough DNA in an average person’s body to stretch from the sun to Pluto and back — 17 times

The human genome, the genetic code in each human cell, contains 23 DNA molecules each containing from 500 thousand to 2.5 million nucleotide pairs. DNA molecules of this size are 1.7 to 8.5 cm long when uncoiled, or about 5 cm on average. There are about 37 trillion cells in the human body and if you’d uncoil all of the DNA encased in each cell and put them end to end, then these would sum to a total length of 2×1014 meters or enough for 17 Pluto roundtrips (1.2×1013 meters/Pluto roundtrip).
