This is me living my life, just as you are. |
undercat: I guess it would have to be. For the same reason 0 is a number. |

johnw74:Sorry but YOU dont get to decide who can join the thread or not. |
How come Muslims get their own forum? Always asking for special treatment those delicate little flowers. Where is the atheist forum then? |
So we have rummaged through the entire bible, this greatest and most knowledgeable book on earth in search of foresight and this is what we managed to scrape together. A few tidbits that require creative interpretation to sell it. This God doesn't seem to know an awful lot. |
RedBenson:So where is God not present. That's where I'm going. |
Religion is confused. Why do You think there are so many denominations within 1 religion? No one has the real version because it's all up to the reader to interpret literarily or metaphorically really up to you. Was 6 days as we know it ? Was it a real talking snake. Who knows. No one. |
Where are the mountains he himself has moved? |
ROSSIKE:Not an atheist or a follower of an Abrahamic relgion apparently, so what is your delusion then kind sir? I am curious. |
AllNaijaBlogger:Would never try to explain that to a pastor unless I was deliberately looking for a long boring lecture. So what kind of Christian are you? Any particular denomination? I was raised catholic before backsliding to a point of no return. |
AllNaijaBlogger:No way. My belief is complex. I would precisely call myself an agnostic atheist and a secular humanist. Basically I dont believe in a god (atheist) but I dont think that right now there is enough evidence to be 100% sure either way (agnostic) and believe that humans have the capability and the responsibility to live moral lives without depending on a god (secular humanist). |
AllNaijaBlogger:Yeah not asking you to become an atheist There are many positions between "God does not exist" and "God sent his only son to save you from yourself". There is a theological position which says: "I dont know for sure if God exists or not. I believe he does but his ways remain a mystery". Some form of agnostic theism. You have to find your comfort zone for yourself. |
God could well exist as the explanation to "existence" (eg deism), but to jump from that to Christianity requires a leap of faith. Faith by definition does not have a solid foundation. Its only backup is a book. So it is normal that your faith will be challenged if you have an open mind. Your faith is immovable only if you close your mind. So do you want to be challenged or do you want to stay within the confines of your religious indoctrination. I think you should embrace the challenge and keep thinking critically. Eventually you will overcome the challenge and find peace of mind. Either by leaving your religion to a freethinking one where not having all the answers is ok (ie one which is not governed by a holy book) or by being locked tighter in Christianity. Obviously, my wish for you is the former. |
herald9:Agreeing to get married is not only about if it is the right guy. It can also be if it is the right time or if she wants to observe him some more. People can date for Eg 1 year. If you come after 1 month maybe she has not made that decision in her mind yet. |
benalvino2:Science does not claim in the beginning there was nothing. Science doesn't know enough about the beginning. For me I would rather remain with questions than give an answer like in the beginning there was a magical everlasting fairy god. It is the go to answer for humans who don't understand the world. Rain was God crying, the sun was God, lightening etc. God is the God of ignorance. |
The obsession of Christians with atheists. Since your God exists why don't you go an pray to him to deliver you from atheists instead of crying here on this thread. Wouldnt that be more productive. After all God apparently answers all prayers. Practise what you preach. |
The God-man ![]() The brain washed souls showcasing the silliness of their book. Surely this farce of a religion is on borrowed time? How many more generations are to be subjected to this madness? |
Let them hire their own plane. |
Klinee:What is his crime? Why not lock up all the young girls who dress like men also. They are on the street every day. |
iconize:So is his wig going to explode and kill someone? Instead of arresting criminals we waste time on unimportant trivialities like his attire. Happy I am not in Africa when I see this oppression. |
cloudstar:I am pretty sure beyond reasonable doubt that the evidence you have will not meet my satisfaction. So lets not pursue an exercise in futility. In any case my original post was about proving non existence. Not proving existence. |
cloudstar:By proof I mean Evidence of some sort which stands up to scrutiny. Not speculation. |
Misogynist2014:The Bible is a book like the Quran and the Vedas. Books are not proof of anything. Muslims, Hindus, Mormons etc all have books with nice stories. Why don't you believe those accounts? But that is besides the point. What you have replied is irerlevant to my post. You are trying to prove existence but the point is how can anyone prove NON existence? |
Misogynist2014:Of course he can't. Nonexistence cannot be proven. Let me give you an example. The entire universe is riding on the back of an invisible turtle. Can you prove the nonexistence of this turtle? Why do people demand the impossible. |
It's funny the op chooses to use the word dishonest in order to narrow down a complex position such as atheism. Next chapter would be about how all Christians are Catholics? As a self identified atheist I don't agree with your definition. I consider myself atheist simply because I don't believe in god. I am not claiming knowledge of his (in)existence. Call me dishonest if you must to help along your argument. You can speak of "some atheists" or "strong atheists" instead and still make your point. |
Do you OP agree that rape is morally wrong in all cases? If so how do you know? Afterall it is endorsed in some passages. |
NativeBoy: Where's the harm? The harm comes from understanding that same-sex marriage doesn't exist in a vacuum. It exists along-side other institutions. But the real threat is that permitting same-sex marriage contributes to the deinstitutionalization of marriage which essentially weakens the role of fatherhood as necessary for a child's well-being and also then removes barriers to other potential marriage arrangements. For example, what if a bisexual person wants to marry a man and a woman and then children get involved. Who are the parents of that child? What happens in the case of divorce? There are many issues to think about that operate in tandem with ssm.I dont get why people say it weakens heterosexual marriage. Heterosexual marriage remains completely unchanged. We have children being raised in every circumstance known to man. Single parents, in orphanage, even with both biological parents in a highly volatile/dysfunctional marriage. Two loving women or men can raise a child better than any of those environments. Most of these couple are adopting abandoned /orphaned children anyway. Your second point is a bit confused. Bisexuality is about being attracted to both sexes. ie you could end up with any person, just as a hetero man could end up with any woman. Not about marrying both at the same time. You don't need to be bisexual to marry 2 people. Heterosexuals do it as well. ie Polygamy. Thats a different debate. Authorised in some places (mostly north africa, middle east) and outlawed in most of the west. We are social beings so we are likely to seek companionship. Most with opposite sex, some with the same sex. I feel the state should facilitate the union with one person - your companion (gay or straight), beyond that you are on your own. But thats just my opinion and I don't have any real moral objection to polygamy. NativeBoy: 3. I really don't know how you concluded that there is no good or bad in Christianity. You'll have to explain that further. If the definition is allowed to be changed, then nothing stops me from marrying my sister(s), etc. After all i'm in a personal and private relationship with them. Biologically and sociologically, it is an error. And what if we agreed to not bear children? This is a very interesting point. Inc.est. It is really the only argument against homosexuality that makes me think. I said before In.cest cannot be tolerated because of the possibility for abuse by those with authority over others (dad/daughter) and also because of the genetic defects of any offspring. I would have to concede in the case of two consenting adults / as in siblings in which there is no possibility of offspring, from a moral point of view it is completely disgusting, but from a philosophical point of view it is acceptable to me as there is no harm caused to anyone. Let them do what they want. From a legal point of view how do you enforce it (to ensure no abuse and no possibility of offspring). its a huge can of worms. In any case I see no such dilemma in homosexuality so its besides the point. |
