Christians just attached Jesus to an existing festive period the Winter Solstice, appropriated it, and now acting like the real owners.

Prayer just makes the religious feel warm and fuzzy. But it is ineffective. For example no amputee has ever successfully had their leg grow back through prayer. I can gurantee that. why is that. Because prayer doesn't not work.

Deep Sight: The choices are between a self existent creator and a self existent universe: either way, you cannot escape one thing or the other being self-existent. Thus, self existence, by itself, is not a concept to be mocked: whichever side wins the debate, one thing or the other must be self-existent. This is inescapable.

This is what I think too. The universe is obviously existing. We are in it, existing. So we can speculate whether it has always existed or not but in no way can we conclude it was certainly caused. Coming to this conclusion is using an argument from ignorance. You don't understand the presence, complexity, purpose of life therefore god did it. And then to conclude further that the cause was uncaused how can that be anything but wild guess work. We just don't have enough information to make those conclusions. My atheism is rooted in the absence of sufficient evidence to necessitate an uncaused intelligent creator.

Should this creator reveal himself the logical next step would be deism. ie He started the process and went on holiday.

The purpose of creation was because:
- he was bored with just him and his son and the spirit
- he has a big ego that needs to be constantly stroked so he needed play things to adore, thank and praise him constantly before, during and after doing anything. After all what is the point of power and greatness if no one / nothing is there to appreciate it.
- the world is a testing ground to see the best at adoring him so that they would be the few to keep him company in heaven. Those that are not so good at that are severely punished. the importance of this was made very clear in his first 3 commandments
- also he wanted his son to have something important to do like save us from himself. besides his son was bored of the peace in heaven and wanted a field trip.
- he thought it would be funny to watch the confusion in his creation as each one of them had their own idea of how to get to heaven or even if there was such a place. there is only so much space so only few should get it right. it would be too crowded if he was more clear
- he wanted to see how many would seriously fall for the story of the winged horse and many virgins
- there are other purposes but we cant know them because of how mysterious his ways are.

If Jesus is the only way to heaven what % of asians and arabs will be burning in hell.
Your faith is an accident of your birth. Failure to see this is complete denial of statistical facts.

Much rather a kind, humble, generous, loving, caring, sweet man which has nothing to do with being afraid of a tyrant.
Someone who does good because you have a good heart not out of fear or obligation of anything.

Something must have been uncaused. I stop at the universe because it's as far as I can see. beyond that it's just wild speculation based on the evidence presented to me in this world. I'll leave it that.

I think the first arguments premise should be the singularity or something not big balls of fire. We already know the earth or the sun wasn't always there.

What sin can someone commit on this short time on earth that justifies ETERNAL torment. What sin? You could kill a whole city (no worse than what god has done himself) and it STILL wouldn't justify burning forever. If its the sin of others, do we deserve to pay such a huge price of someone Else's sin?

Exodus 31:15: Whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Leviticus 20:10: And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.

Can we look through your entourage for candidates to be put to death? I hope you are equally vocal on these sins which are far more common in society.

A religious person talking to me about rational. Very funny. Who created God? Since everything must be created. Or everything must be created EXCEPT the ultimate creator? Wow how convenient. OP you say leave the church and find god. Which god? If not because of a religious text (in islam, Christianity etc) and what society (parents, school etc) is saying how do you know what this god wants and expects from you? Or are you following what you dreamed?

The question is a fallacy. You assume it was created ie there was a beginning and so you assume a creator - who had no beginning. There are some things which are beyond our understanding but no need to assume or invent anything. Eg It was easy to assume the world was flat. Seemed very logical from our limited point of view. I don't know what was prior to the big bang. We don't have all the answers but I don't assume anything.

Complex so must have been created by another complex entity. However this last one is so complex he doesnt need to have been created. The way the religious reason. Just making stuff up as they go along.

Can a religious person say I don't know? No, they have to invent an explanation for things that are obviously far beyond their understanding like the origin of the universe.
