If I may add I believe corruption including fraud/scams play big role in the lack of trust in Nigeria. Nigerians and the world around them and the far outer layer do not trust Nigeria nor Nigerians. There has to be eradication to these ill practices which became strongly associated with Nigeria and Nigerians. The Nigerians themselves have as a result given up on Nigerians and Nigeria. There is no trust in any institution or individual. When the world refuses to do business with Nigeria because of fears, Nigerians themselves say Bleep it. |

Not a Nigerian and can't tell you the causes of the problems but I enjoyed the article. You're very wise guy and you know the difference between book trained graduate and a personality. Perhaps Nigerians put too much emphasizes on being shaped for the boss but not shaped for national agenda. Perhaps the root lays in the early learning education (kindergarten, primary). As an Ethiopian, I can say in Ethiopia it's the opposite. People are patriotic but lack academic education to pursue individual driven goals. Ethiopia has poor education system but Ethiopian history is rich and that's what keeps people feeling proud. Nigeria does not have that kind of legacy, which Nigerians can take pride in. Nigeria is a colonial project where as Ethiopia defeated colonialism. Perhaps Nigeria needs strong leaders who develop nationalistic and patriotic doctrine in the hearts of citizens rather than just focusing on jobs and is the oil flowing. |
Dear programmers, I do like both your feedback, suggestions and if you're able to meet/make my request. I welcome all ideas and ways I can make it happen. I do like an app that can tell people when certain shops, hotels, stores and even pharmacies are open or closed during public holiday. For example let's say someone wishes to know if Palms Mall is open or closed during a public holiday. Instead of calling them or even checking their website(s), which in most cases are not updated or lack the exact information, people can just open the app. I need the app to be interactive where X person in Palms Mall can see the feed or hashtag and reply; yes its open (of course if its open) otherwise it pulls pre-existing info from data, website or even staff from the Palms Mall can respond "Sorry We're closed". How much are we looking at? Nigerians, I have many business ideas and plans on the way and I do like to employ or invite many of you to one particular project that I have in the pipeline. I hope you can take my thread serious and we can work together professionally. No trolling please. I love the level of skills by many Nigerians. Thanks |
Assalamu aleikum brothers and sisters. I am always intrigued with the history, discoveries and achievements by the fantastic Timurid dynasty that spanned from central Asia to the Indians. In all regions it ruled it flourished for example present day Uzbekistan was the center of Islamic discoveries under its 14th century ruler Amir Timur. He built this amazing mosque named after his wife, Bibi Khanum, during his reign. He used as many as 90 elephants to carry precious stones from India. https://newsjid.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/3967xcitefun-3.jpg https://i1.trekearth.com/photos/120130/samarcande_2.jpg His descendants include his grandson, Ulugh Beg, an astronomer, mathematician and a sultan. He gained fame for his work in trigonometry and spherical geometry. He built the great Ulugh Beg Observatory in Samarkand between 1424 and 1429. It was considered by scholars to have been one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world at the time and the largest in Central Asia. Another great descendant of Timur was of course India's most celebrated Emperor, Abdull-Fath Jalalud-din Muhammad Akbar (also known as Akbar the Great). Akbar is known for his reforms, architecture like his forefathers and his tolerance towards the other religions including the Hindus. He abolished taxation on Hindu pilgrims and encouraged Muslims to eat less beef in respect to Hindu faith. The Mughal dynasty of India was founded by Emperor Babur (1526-1531), who was a descendant of Timur and Chingiz Khan. The Mughal emperors moved between their imperial capitals of Delhi, Lahore, and Agra, where they constructed a variety of building types including palaces, gardens, mosques, forts and whole urban schemes in addition to celebrated mausoleums. In fact, the remarkable flowering of art and architecture under the Mughals is due to several factors including: 1. The Mughal Emperors were unusual and strong patrons of art and architecture. 2. All Mughal dynasties generally enjoyed a prosperous periods and enjoyed unparalleled wealth in the history of Indian. 3. Consequently, artists and architects enjoyed a secured and comfortable environment within which they generated their artistic ideas and creativity. The Mughal/Timurid architecture that flourished in the Indian sub-continent including Emperor Shah Jahan's Taj Mahal. https://www.hdwallpapersbot.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/complte-view-of-badshahi-mosque-top-quality-photo.jpg The 14th century Badshahi Mosque by the Mughals in Lahore, Pakistan https://static.panoramio.com/photos/large/90833262.jpg Badshahi Mosque was built under the 16th century Emperor Aurangzeb (son of Emperor Shah Jahan) and it took only two years even though its the 5th largest Mosque in the world today. https://alissaeverett.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ae_pak_lahore_0171.jpg https://images.mapsofindia.com/my-india/agra-fort.jpg Agra Fort by the Islamic Mughals, India The 16th century Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic buildings in the modern world but do you know when the architect drew the design and layout for the Emperor in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, the emperor chopped the hands of the architect? He said he did it so he may never draw again and there is to be only one such fine building by fine architect. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1d/Taj_Mahal_%28Edited%29.jpeg/1280px-Taj_Mahal_%28Edited%29.jpeg Taj Mahal, Agra, India Finally the tomb of Akbar, the third and most powerful Mughal Emperor. charix:Thanks very much appreciated. I will wait for them but they need to address that issue. That limitation is so old and out off fashion. People used to such as move in order to get people to post or populate a forum before another section opened or became available. For a nation of 190m that shouldnt be an issue. |
charix:How do I find them? They seem invisible. I can't tell who is who. |
Jazakallahu khairan akhi. Good message and good remainder. It is ebadah to remind each others of our deen. Salaam to you all from East Africa. |
The system needs to be changed guys. I am trying to post something in Graphics and Investment sections but it's asking me to wait for WEEKS. Are you serious? That is a weakness in my opinion and I understand you wish to control spammers and trolls but there are better ways. Anyways. Any Nigerian graphic designers? I am in the process of establishing a graphic design firm and would love to invite talented Nigerian designers to work for me. I will be paying per design/job. I will share the full details once Nairaland allows me to post in the appropriate area. |
She, the snake charmer. |
He should have some decency. It's inappropriate for a grandpa like that to comment on the looks of a teenage girl on Social media. She looks okay btw. I like Hausa and Fulani girls but the authentic northern ones. She doesn't look authentic but a hybrid. |
Actually it's the complete opposite. A man like me appreciates a good woman. And a good woman always completes a deserving man. The world makes sense in pairs even the day comes to an end by the night. A loner world is a psychiatric world. No wonder loners always either commit suicide or take many with them. |
killuminati:Fair enough. |
Too much trolling by none-Muslims. How come Muslims don't troll your topics but as soon as you see a topic about Muslims or Islams you lot panic and start allowing your insecurities to dominate your heads? Calm down guys and let Muslims talk about their religion and with each others if its not your cup of tea. Cheers. |
iamodenigbo1:Ladies that know how to drive? |
How come this forum is not moderated and people are able to insult other faiths, God and have little regard for others? I'm not impressed with the Mods. By the way I'm a Muslim from East Africa. Salaam guys. Insha Allah kheir. |
MorrisaMkenya:Jambo rafiki/neighbor, Habari gani? I will pass that message to our beautiful girls. Asante. |
killuminati: ![]() Is she Hausa or Fulani? I'm from the far east (Horn of Africa). Nothing but love my Hausa and Fulani brothers and sisters. BTW, I like Hausa music. The language has a lot of Arabic and so its not that much off from my Somali. I used to like this Hausa song from one of the movies but I can't find it. It was on YouTube. I believe they were watching TV together. He either begins praying or plays the traditional guitar and she starts singing. Awesome song with so much meaning. Can't remember the title. Great message about love, faith, gratitude and family. Believe it or not I don't speak Hausa but I know there is so much meaning and wisdom in their rich music. Ajnabiya is a good example. Hausa brothers find that song for me ![]() |
keresho tadiyass, I'm an Ethiopian of ethnic Somali and I am disgusted to say the least with his behavor. It is uncalled for to insult fellow Africans. He behaves like a little insecure girl (we are more pretty, we are more light, I have more makeup). Garbage. |
I'm a Horn African (Ethiopian of ethnic Somali) and I find the Hausa and Fulani girls attractive and appealing. The Fulani in particular appear very exotic with all their cultural decorations I think the Fulanis and the Somalis share a lot in common. We are both probably the most distributed single ethnic across the largest land mass in Africa. The Somalis settle from Djibouti to Kenya-Tanzania border. Similarly the Fulanis as well as the Hausa are so distributed across so many countries in western Africa. These three groups are great expansionists. Shout out to them. |
Adminisher:I wish you could contribute to the topic and overall agenda rather than allow your emotions to get the best of you. Calling someone 'kid' will not make you any more intelligent. Please reassess your comment and position and try again. There is a nation very close to becoming a failed state like many other African states. It's too big of a risk just to pray and hope things will come to an end because they won't be. The reality is Nigeria needs a solution right now and a split is a very likely reality. |
whirlwind7:Co-signed. |
We can all predict where Nigeria is heading and it won't be long before it becomes two states like Sudan (Sudan and South Sudan). Therefore, Nigerians and Africans in general should start preparing themselves for two Nigerian states. However, I propose rather than having two state formations, it makes more sense to unite the Hausa dominated North with their family across the border in Niger. There we can create the United Republic of Niger, where much of the Hausa and Fula people can have common home. Likewise they can later seek to unite the rest of the Fulanis and Hausa under neo-functionalism union similar to the EU where they share common currency, military, trade, integrated infrastructure, cultural contact and open border policy (free movement of people and goods between United Republic of Niger, Benin, Chad, Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Sudan (Darfur etc), Gambia, Togo, Mauritania, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, etc. I feel the first step is finding a solution for Nigeria. The split solution is necessary. Correcting colonial errors are must. https://s29.postimg.org/mqfn6rjhz/naira_split.jpg The Hausa and Fula people need to see the bigger picture. They should divorce others and instead seek joining forces with their own only separated by colonial policies a century ago. It is never too late. The split is a win-win. |
The notion that Yoruba are more advanced than other ethnics is nothing but a myth and a playbook from the colonial masters. The British found the Yoruba to be submissive, servant and overall good pet to train. When they were leaving they ensured they kept those that were loyal to their rule and carried them on their shoulders have 'inherited' their rule. They ensured they obtain all the institutions and education scholars in order to deliver the submissive above the self-confident resistant leaders. To see who was more advanced one should look Nigeria before the British. Anyone can be trained, given access to USAID, few scholars and promoted as "advanced" by his former master. Nothing but colonial stereotype in order to reward those who used to bow to them. |
starlingbawa:I believe it will eventually get there and Nigerians should be prepared for this likely outcome. The divorce between South and North Nigeria is the only way and many African states would support that just like Sudan. Let us work on a road map on how we can get the two to divorce each others without any resentment. Let's hope they can co-exist as neighbors. |
What about splitting Nigeria into two like Sudan; North Nigeria (Muslim state) and South Nigeria (Christian state)? I think it will eventually reach that stage because it's clear there is huge mistrust between the two and no one wants to blink first. I believe its necessary to split Nigeria. North Nigeria perhaps should form unity state with Niger and once and for all the Hausa brothers should unite (United Republic of Niger). They should reinvent themselves and abandon the British project. |
Ethiopia is an old Kingdom with a history that stems more than 3,000 years but it's struggling to reinvent itself successfully. It has made several attempts including changing political platform, system and even name (Abyssinia to Ethiopia). I have a friend who recently returned from the capital, Addis Ababa, he started several positive things compared to Uganda and Kenya. I couldn't believe but apparently he knew what he was talking about. He said Addis Ababa was both cleaner and less corrupt than Kampala and Nairobi. He said doing business in Ethiopia is difficult compared to the two but once approved it will face less issues such as police asking for regular bribes etc. Since Ethiopia is the second most populous nation after Nigeria, I feel its fair to compare the two. We also know that Nigeria is notorious when it comes to corruption and bribery but I feel its infrastructure is far superior compared to Ethiopia's. Who was responsible for Nigeria's key infrastructure? Right now Ethiopia is getting the Chinese to do it but as you know they always do poor job. Most roads they built a year ago are already falling apart. https://esterdon.com/img/homepage-slider/8.jpg https://s1.ibtimes.com/sites/www.ibtimes.com/files/styles/v2_article_large/public/2013/11/01/image_1.jpg?itok=AKsjs8sy Addis Ababa |
Masha Allah |
Hello Nigerians, I'm new here. I'm an ethnic Somali from Ethiopia. Yes indeed, the second largest region in Ethiopia is home to 5 million Somalis and its called Somali Region. https://mapsof.net/uploads/static-maps/ethiopia_regions_english.png Hopefully will take part in some topics that I have a clue or two. I'm a pan-Africanist and my father has walked the land from the Red Sea to Botswana, from Zanzibar to Maghrib. In short, I love Africa. |
